As a boy he was abandoned in the forest realm of Irrinor , but he was taken in by wood elves who taught him how to hunt and gather. He has no idea why his parents would be so irresponsible, but he doesn't bother himself with such things. As a young child, he loved hearing stories of the Mani, which may be part of the reason he expressed distaste for hunting, though he really just hated the idea of killing in general. This didn't gain him much favour with the wood elves, as they believed he wasn't following the divinely masculine path laid out by Cernunnos. He felt he had to prove himself, which led him to research his spirituality. He was intrigued by the Sages, and wishes to study with them. His primary interest as a youth however, was gathering, as he loved studying the properties of different plants. He was very active and outdoorsy, especially in the warmer summer months. He has always been on on the taller side for a Halfling, and quite lean and muscular. He was bestowed the nickname "Trufflehead" by a human traveler who was amused by watching him stick his head into plants. The nickname stuck.
He'd heard tales of brave adventurers throughout his childhood, and as soon as he was of age to leave the woods, he bid farewell to his foster family and set off on a journey of his own on which he remains today. He's researching the properties of as many types of plant that he can, hoping to publish a book with his findings to the world.
Well, I've heard theres quite a few interesting types of mould growing in this city, and I was hoping to get some samples, so I'll just be digging around in the garbage for most of my stay. Maybe a bit of sewer diving too. OOoooo, I also heard that you have catacombs? There's certain unique fungi that grow on corpses, especially in densely populated areas such as these. What a joy! Ah, what was that you were saying about adventure? Well, adventure isn't exactly it, but in part I suppose it's true. Grand aspirations are a part as well, but not about "my place in society" as you put it. More like "for the good of society. " I do it for science, my good sir, FOR SCIENCE!
