Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Guillermo takes a minute to process the petition, then takes a sit and stares to the hag in disbelief "You surely must be brave to expect me, a soldier of god and the four prophets, being the awful witch you are, señora... However, if we have crossed paths that must mean this is the way god intended, so I'll spare your life... for now..." Guillermo leaves his greatsword supported on the ground "If it is my origins what you seek then that I will tell you: Las gentes call me Guillermo, and if that name sounds weird to you, that's because I am a proud Hispiano! I was born in a family of five, I was the youngest among my brothers, which meant that they were the ones who would inherit all riches and jobs of la familia! From the moment I was born my life was condemned to monk life. That is how my religious career started... I had spent almost all my life in the monastery of "La Orden de San Benito" working the land and studying the books in the scriptorium, at first I hated it but progressively I learnt to hug the flame and love of the Creator! Life was humble and accommodated but It would not last..." Guillermo crosses his arms and trembles at the very remembrance of the traumatic story he was about to narrate "It was a calm night like any other, I was doing my daily prayers before bedtime when suddenly the sound of a dozen horses began to approach the monastery, a raid of bandits had just pillaged the nearby town and were heading to our direction, those MISERABLES were seeking for more blood! They rapidly began to storm the building, everywhere I stared to It was looting and killing! As quick as they entered, a handful of knights from the Teutonic Order rushed to the aid, they had come in pilgrimage but they did not hesitate to protect the property of god! Unfortunately... Even them were caught in surprise, there were just so many... After many hours, the battle ceased, and when I came out of my hiding place all it was left was a pillaged and destroyed monastery, with the corpses of soldiers and brothers lying on the ground... I felt guilty, I know it was not my fault but I thought that maybe If I knew how to defend myself maybe that situation had changed for the better, at least a bit... That's when I decided that I would not be a coward monk anymore, instead, I made to myself the promise that I would serve god another way, mastering the blade and protecting the helpless with his cutting edge... So, I abandoned the monastery... and never returned" Guillermo points at his helmet "This helmet belonged to a Teutonic Knight that gave his life that awful night, ¡Que Dios lo tenga en su gloria! (may he rest in peace)"
