    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you use information that was obtained outside of an RP scenario within an RP scenario. I.E, going to a character's house when in RP you haven't learned the location of their house yet.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when you attempt to force a situation on others within an RP scenario. For example, forcing a character to fall down and not giving the character a chance to catch themselves is power gaming.

Baldovino pauses, stumbling back slightly at the sudden appearance of the man. His eyes dart to and fro while his free hand pats at his purse to ensure this isn't an attempt to pick-pocket him. After reaching the conclusion that the man means no harm, he responds just as warmly.

 

"Why many thanks! I am actually a businessman of the Navarro Company. I am looking to expand my company's reach to this fine city." He gestures with his cane to the sprawling city infront of him, careful not to keep his balance and not bump the cane into the man.

 

"Might you have some insight as to how I could accomplish this?" Baldovino continues after settling his weight back onto the cane.
