SmokingGear replied to Chorale__'s topic in The Petran Government
It took Ivar several read-throughs before he was finally able to understand the entirety of the document's contents. Upon his understanding, he beamed proudly for not only his Brother's achievements, but of the future this document promises for his people. -
Baldovino sat in a rocking chair on the rooftop of an inn he had come to call his home. As he stared out at the sunset falling below the horizon, he thought back to where his life had taken him. The last of his family and the only remnant of the once respectable Navarro Trading Company. A life that should have been filled with the prosperousness of his family business, reduced to a frail old man, enjoying the sunset one last time. He had certainly tried to rebuild the Navarro name. Once not only the founder of a new Newspaper, but the Lord Castellan of the once mighty Castle Puremont, home of the Keen family. Through tragedy, rebellion, and rebuilding did he try. It would seem however, that those above would never allow Baldovino to fulfill his dream of restoring his family name. Even his journeys across the sea proved fruitless, leaving him in this small forgotten port, his stories ready to be lost to the passing of time. He finished one last letter, and had an attendant at the inn send them for him. He would never know if his letters would get to the people that had impacted his life so greatly, if they even still lived, but he was content in the fact that as his last breath approached, the faces and names of those he cared for filled his mind. There were many a things that he would have done differently could he rewind the clock. But alas, the sands of time flow unending, and no mere frail old man would change that. And so, with his final sigh, Baldovino watched the last light of day disappear over the waves, never to see them rise again.

The following newspaper would begin to spread throughout the Kingdom of Oren ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE KING IS DEAD!!! It has been announced that his majesty, King Frederick I, was killed during the recent raid by the men of the Barony of Acre. The raid began during the King's most recent address during the regular meeting of the Royal Court. A brief but bloody battle took place in the hall where the men of Acre made quick work of the loyal defenders of King and Country attending the address. After the men of Acre left the hall victorious, they ransacked Castle Stassion in search of the King. He was found, cornered, in his royal quarters and was killed as the men of Acre made their way into the room. Upon the completion of their raid, the men of Acre returned to the hall to tend to their wounds and celebrate their victory. What citizenry, who were not attacked by the raiders, that were still in the hall were invited to ask questions of Sir Gustaf de Vilain. He revealed during these questions that should his faction win the Civil War, the city of Vienne will be razed to the ground, comparing the action to "setting up a new field, sometimes you must burn the old, just like nature with forest." While this may alarm the citizenry who call the city home, the Baron has clarified that those residing in the city would be cared for and be provided accommodations after the city is razed until they determine where they will go. Lastly, the Baron declared that the men of Acre WOULD NOT be taking over the Kingdom of Oren. Instead, they would discuss with the current vassals and peers of Oren in regards to their lands and what is in store for them as the future looms closer. They made an important note that whatever may occur after their victory, the Kingdom of Oren would be no more, and would again disperse into history. As of the writing of this special edition of the Vienne Herald, no public announcements have been made about the current state of the country by any remaining elements of the Royal Court and/or the Royal Family. We have yet to see how the government or the people of Oren will respond, however as elements of the Kingdom do remain, a challenge will certainly present itself to the men of Acre.

NOBLE CHILDREN OF AMES, 1878 His Lordship, Vincent Keen Baron of Ames and Her Imperial Highness, Victoria Augusta Novellen, the Countess of Carolustadt, after taking advantage of several years of privacy with them, are pleased to introduce their children to the realm! The twins, young Cassius Keen (@Yoitsking) and Adelaide Keen (@Neno1974) were welcomed peacefully and healthily to the world on the 3rd of Tobias’s Bounty, 1876. In accordance with Canonist tradition, belated as they may be, the Lord and Lady of Ames invite all nobles and their families to attend the baptism of the young twins. The baptism will take place on the 18th of Sigismund's End, 1878 (Tuesday 6/28 at 7:00pm EST), in the Puremont Chapel and upon its conclusion a garden party will be held on the grounds of Castle Puremont. The following peers, along with their esteemed pedigrees and additional guests, are invited to attend the festivities: Finally, due to the introduction of twins to the family line, there has been concern over which of the two shall become the head of the household and inherit the title of Baron of Ames. This announcement serves as the official recognition of young Cassius Keen being named the Heir Apparent to the Barony of Ames and the hereditary successor of all Keen holdings. Any future debate regarding the subject may look back on this announcement to put the discussion to rest. The following notice would be posted in and nearby the lands governed by the Barony of Ames REQUIREMENT OF MASKS IN THE BARONY OF AMES As most have probably been informed, there is currently a very dangerous disease spreading throughout our beloved Kingdom. In an attempt to assist with the mitigation of the risk involved with the disease known as "The Rot", "The Melt", "Bloodrot", and "Brainrot", the Barony of Ames is, until further notice, requiring the wearing of a cloth mask at all times within it's area of influence. In addition to wearing the mask at all times, whenever possible it is recommended that a distance of two meters be kept between all nearby individuals. Should these precautions fail or were brought about too late to affect an individual's infection with the disease, please inform the Lord Castellan of Castle Puremont Baldovino Navarro by bird immediately. You will be assisted in finding accomodations for remaining quarantined from others until a medical professional may check on your condition. Please note that this decision was not made lightly, and it was determined to be the best course of action due to the regular travel of those residing within Ames with more populous areas such as the capital city of Vienne. By following these practices we hope to avoid any dire consequences that may come from contracting the disease and return to our usual way of life as soon as possible. Signed by the Lord Castellan of Castle Puremont, Baldovino Navarro

Baldovino pauses, stumbling back slightly at the sudden appearance of the man. His eyes dart to and fro while his free hand pats at his purse to ensure this isn't an attempt to pick-pocket him. After reaching the conclusion that the man means no harm, he responds just as warmly. "Why many thanks! I am actually a businessman of the Navarro Company. I am looking to expand my company's reach to this fine city." He gestures with his cane to the sprawling city infront of him, careful not to keep his balance and not bump the cane into the man. "Might you have some insight as to how I could accomplish this?" Baldovino continues after settling his weight back onto the cane.
