Rauva lived through much of her young life with the teachings and traditions of dark elf culture being passed down to her, including the Old Ways. She considers herself a devout of Mother Moon, known as Luara, but she also holds a passionate admiration of the world, and longed to someday experience life on the surface. When old enough to join her father on one of his expeditions upwards, she eagerly rode along on the trade caravan. The wind felt like freedom, and from the first breeze of warm air against her face, she yearned to be on the road rather than isolated underground, traveling and exploring the various cities and nations above. This extroverted quality is part of the reason why the elf has always gotten along uncommonly well with other races. Finding, observing, and collecting various trinkets from vendors, specifically to learn of other cultures, is also one of the lures resulting from her curiosity of the world.
Having an observant and attentive mindset at all times was needed to survive in the society from which she hails, but Rauva has little worldly experience when it comes to navigating the surface. On one of the market visits, she found herself in the tent of a woman who claimed to be prophetic, and told her exactly what she wanted and needed to hear. Such is the job of a fortune-teller. When she returned underground, with a newfound fascination for divinatory practices, she began self-teaching and performing her own readings on some of the other dark elves. Most thought she was a bit loony, which only furthered her desire to move on from her childhood home.
A gangly dark elf, of white hair, grey complexion, and strongly scented oils, eagerly weaves her way through the crowd of people on the city's port. Some were departing the boat just the same as her, others ship workers and merchants. Her two violet irises host an inquisitive gaze, and the dark, oil-based eyeshadow applied to their lids only intensifies their vivid look - not just the eyes, but her lips and cheekbones are also stained. The heavy makeup, coupled with colorful ensemble of clothing she has donned, suggests a strange and eclectic air to her overall appearance.
Rauva pauses to bask in the all the amazement the city holds, with eyes widening and lips parting slightly in a gasp. There was activity, various vendors selling their wares, and a diverse population... but, upon being greeted by the fancified stranger, her attention is torn to her left.
"Hello!" She greets just as pleasantly, offering a smile to the man as she turns to face him completely now. "Thank you for your warm welcome, sir. I am Rauva, and I would love to spread my work to the people of this city. To offer fortune-tellings and other readings to those who welcome the opportunity.
The dark elf pauses momentarily, and a glance is sent upwards to the sky as she ponders on something. "Say- can you point me to closest the tavern? I think it may be best to start there."
