Gared was born to two smugglers in the Kingdom of Marna, life was difficult at first always travelling - and doing something illegal at that. But it kept him on his toes, and though the opportunity never rose for him to get a formal education he taught himself to read and write through mail sent out via raven with his mother and father. Though it is not as if they didn’t care for him, as smuggling can provide quite the profit, and they used some of this to spoil young Gared, and throughout his early years, he had many fond memories with them. But this didn’t last for very long, bounty hunters eventually got to them - luckily Gared and his father escaped, but his mother and their ship did not. After that incident Silas and his father were always on the road - his father becoming rather distant and less caring as before, taking the odd mercenary job or monster contract now and again. This is where he taught himself some bows skills. Time went on as is, Gared's father eventually left him. And this is when he decided it’s time for a fresh start, and set off for the unknown.

They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?”
