You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"Ah," Jade responds, looking up to meet the woman's eyes as she froze in the doorway. "I'm... sorry, I didn't see you." She hesitates for a moment, moving her hands uncertainly, then steps forwards to sit on the cushion, shifting her traveler's belt around as she does so. "You were expecting me? I'm not so interesting, I admit... are you sure you'd not rather tell your own story?"
"I insist you tell me yours."
Jade sighs. "Alright, if you say so. I'm a traveling merchant from a cave city far off... although I don't recall ever being told the name. I was rather sheltered by my parents, despite being merchants themselves, which, ah, still perplexes me." She shakes her head. "Regardless. I left home a while ago to seek my own future. As to my race... I'm to believe I'm a mix between mali'ker and mali'ame, although I'm not too sure. My dad passed the eyes and flush complexion to me. Mostly I just pass as 'ker, though." She plays with her collar as she speaks. "That's... really all. I sell writing supplies and dyes whenever I can get my hands on either. I don't like selling armor and weaponry, but I'll do what I have to when I must. Fighting and infighting and brawls and robberies, I'm tired of hearing about it. I wish we could just talk like civilized beings. But," she says with another sigh, "I will sell whatever will afford me bread." She pushes up her glasses. "I came here seeking a place called Almaris- I was hoping to meet a more diverse population here than there was back home. Perhaps my half-brethren in Nor'Asath will take me in... but if they do not accept me, I can always find my home on the road."
