Born in the Orenian city of Helena, Faye Goodchild was oldest child of Anna and Pepin Goodchild, the proprietors of a struggling grocery stall. Being some of the only halflings living in a human city, the Goodchilds had few friends, and Faye's closest friend was her younger brother Henry. In their early years, Henry and Faye liked to scam and steal from bigguns (the halfling word for tall people) to help earn extra money for their parents. Constantly made fun of by the human children for worshipping the halfling pumpkin god Knox, Faye and Henry's closeness can be attributed to them having nobody but each other. Taught to read by her father, Faye loved to steal mystery and romance novels from the libraries. Faye also loved eating, though she rarely had the opportunity to snack on anything other than bread, and was kept thin both by lack of food and by constant exercise.
When Arcas came to a violent end, Faye's family was caught up in the destruction. Henry was killed in the fires that overtook the small hovel in which the Goodchilds dwelt, and following her brother's death, Faye became distant from her parents, turning to alcohol and more thievery to forget her pain. After spending a year with them in Providence, Faye abandoned her parents to seek a life of scamming and pickpocketing on the roads of Almaris. After nine years of leading this life of crime, Faye decided it was time to move on and attempt to live a normal life, and sought ought her fellow halflings....
Not noticing the man at first, Faye glances around, taken in by the immense wealth of the bazaar, carefully studying each shop and stall and contemplating
how she may have robbed them in her past life.
After taking notice of the man, Faye looks nervously up at him. She has never trusted humans. She fidgets a bit before giving a small shrug and saying
"Oh, well... just looking for an adventure." She adds a faint smile at that.
