As a young dwarf, Rory loved playing with animals. His father would take him to see different parts of Altas, his favorite being the Dwarven Mountains of Vailor. While being taught by his father, Rory was trying to forge a sword when a bird fluttering 5 feet away from him. Careless, Rory tries to chase the bird and ends up getting burnt on the right side of his chest. Throughout his entire time as an apprentice to his father, Rory tried to spend as much time with animals as possible. On his days free from work he would go into the forest to spend as much time with animals and the wilderness as possible. At one point Rory even ended up befriending a snake, which was a scary experience for his father, but not for him. The first time his father took him into town he immediately noticed all the culture that was in the marketplace, and the different types of people. However, the thing that stood out compared to everything else, was an elderly man with a staff and a bird on top of the staff. Dumbfounded, Rory examined the man and he asked the man who he was, to Rory's amazement he found out the man was, in fact, a Druid. Ever since that day Rory tried everything in his power to learn the ways of a Druid, and how to become one. He knew he couldn't do such a thing while he was working as an apprentice, so he figured he must wait until his father lets him journey the world.
When Rory was allowed to set off into the world he was astonished by the wonders he had discovered. After a few days, he then realized how hungry he was, but he could never bring himself to kill any animal. Rory had to become a vegetarian otherwise he'd starve. After finding the perfect land to settle: a meadow with perfect soil for growing crops and sturdy enough for a foundation of a small home. As Rory aged and expanded his home, he also adventured more and studied animals more. Rory soon decided to dedicate most of his life studying animals, and the other parts would be farming and blacksmithing.
