Xalid was born to a family of artisans and members of the Architecture Guild of the grand city of Sutica. His brothers and sisters all had the same affinity, Xalid showed no interest. Choosing to spend his time in Sutica's Central Market District and the Iris Wharf he became friends with the merchants and captains. Trade was his calling, be it unloading the ships or setting up stalls in the market, this is what he wanted to do. After much begging and pleading his parents gave their consent for him to join a merchant ship. For 3 years Xalid sailed with the crew and eventually proved himself worthy of setting up the trades with the local merchants.
On one of his many voyages he heard of the Kingdom of Norland and the expert seafarers. The entire trip home he could not stop thinking about Norland. After returning home to Sutica he headed to the library and read up on the all the he could.
On his 18th birthday it was time. He decided he wanted to strike out to Norland. Though not physically powerful as most Norlandians, that was where he was going to make a name for himself...
