I N T R O D U C T I O N

Hello reader! If you’re looking at this post, it means you have taken at least some interest in the Dark Elves, perhaps even in making one! This post aims to narrow down what the Dark Elves are about, what sets them apart from the other Elven subraces, and what cultural developments they have undergone in recent decades.

A P P E A R A N C E

Skin Colour

The most prominent feature of a Dark Elf is their ashen skin. Although most commonly dark grey, lots of variations have been seen between individual Maehr and clans. It is uncommon, but not impossible for their skin to have tints of blue, or even violet.

Eye Colour

Just like their High Elven brethren, Dark Elves have quite a colourful variety of eye colours. Although in the past this used to be a rarer colour, red in recent times has found itself to be the most common colour for the Dark Elves. Blue and green, while not as common, can still be seen with some frequency. Yellow to gold, as well as light and darker purple shades are considered to be among the rarest, along with extremely light grey eyes. It is rare, but not unheard of that some Dark Elves have the white in their eyes tinted in a similar colour as their irises.

Hair Colour

When it comes to hair colours the Dark Elves don’t have that much variety. Their hair colours almost exclusively seem to hover between pale white and pitch black, with metallic colours.  Shades such as brown or blonde are not possible for Dark Elves, unless of mixed descent.

Clothing

Dark Elves distinguish themselves the most through their clothing. To compensate for their dull complexities, they often favour colourful dresses, suits and whatever else. Even when wearing more practical garments, such as uniforms or perhaps even armour, they still find ways to keep them decorated and colourful. Jewelry is often paired along with these clothes for both males and females, further adding to the vibrant colour palette not uncommon for them.

Height & weight

In terms of both weight and height Dark Elves fall somewhere in the middle. They are not taller than High Elves, but also not shorter than Wood Elves. Their builds tend to vary, although it is not uncommon for Dark Elves, due to their affinity with martial arts, to be more strongly-built than most of their other Elven peers.

With all these things in mind, Dark Elves can become quite colourful in practise! Below are various examples of Dark Elves skins.

C U L T U R E S

Dark Elves are spread out not only amongst various nations, but also different cultural divisions. A common redline between all of these groups is the care for family and worship of their ancestors. There are, however, a few distinct differences between various cultural movements.

Ramasarians

Ramasarians are a more recent grouping within the Dark Elven culture. Originally this term was used to describe Dark Elves tracing their origins back to the distant continent of Ramasar, where the majority of its Dark Elven population lived in the coastal town of Kruhso. Nowadays, this term is used more broadly, referring not only to Maehr that are first-generation immigrants from Ramasar, but also others that have been influenced by this cultural stream. It should be noted that most followers of this cultural movement do not consider themselves as followers of such, but are rather part of a broader cultural identity.

They are often seen speaking Vel’luah exclusively to one-and another, having next to no knowledge of Ancient Elven, unlike the native Elves of Aevos. In terms of religion they follow an ambiguous form of “ancestral worship”, giving priority to paying their respects to members of their own bloodlines above all else. These ancestors are respected on the same level as deities in other religions could be. Ramasarians value the integrity, and purity of their bloodlines greatly. Often, they are seen as Maehr purists, although to varying degrees of extremity.

Velulites

Velulites is a term used to describe mali'ker of a previously reclusive subset, notably worshipping the trinity of Veluluai, Luara, and Kor in tandem. As a general rule they believe all mali'ker belong together, united as their greatest ancestor would undoubtedly have expected. While fervent in their beliefs, often uttering thanks to one of the trinity or drawing from the host of other shamanic spirits and long-past 'ker ancestors, proselytising is frowned upon as it's believed everyone must come to their own personal realisations by themselves. Those of the various Velulite family groups are usually identifiable by their pure coloured eyes with the sclera matching the iris, their brightly dyed hair, and the abundance of moon-and-stars tattoos on their entire body, including the face.

Spirituality, the arts, and expression of self are core activities shared by the majority of Velulites. When their journey to adulthood begins at age 18, each Velulite has the stars and moon of the day of their birth inked on their skin, a celebration of the unique pattern of the sky on that day. Pursuit of creative endeavours are encouraged, leading to an abundance of artists of all creeds. Colour in Velulite culture is almost as important as astrology, the reading of the stars, with typical dress being bright and of intricate design to best represent oneself vividly while reading the mystic divination cards that determine the future.

Spiritualists

Spiritualist Maehr for most of their recent memory were the dominant cultural movement. However in recent memory, they have more so moved to the background. Even though spiritualist Maehr are still common, they have become a less organised culture, moreso spreading out between various nations.

With them, religion stands central, it offers many similarities to those under the Velulites in terms of worship. However, though many may believe that Luara is their patron spirit they themselves branch out more outwardly to the various and many other spirits. Finding that both Spirits and Ancestors are of equal grounds in terms of importance as well as not limiting themselves to just a handful of spirits that Velulite and Renelians hold. Usually those of Spiritualist descent worship more than just Luara, maybe even to a point where they are not even regarded to such length outside of acknowledgement. Many who follow the way of Spiritualists hold a more tribalistic nature to them. Favoring both caves and mushroom forests to feel more at home due to the legend of their origins.

Warhawkes

The Warhawkes were initially an informal group of Mali'ker displaced in the destruction of Vivec. Over time, as their numbers grew, they became by the core tenet of self-expression, a part of Dark Elven culture that has become less important over the centuries to come. They moved from their icy keep to the savannah and began to worship the stars themselves - which caused their rivalry with the Ker'nor Spiritualists governed by Dak'ir in the underground. Bokolos were very important to their people, an animal which is now limited to herds 'owned' by a High Elf and the last living daughter of the Delevoye clan that lived during the people's tribe. Ironically, the Warhawkes outlived the Spiritualists of Ker'nor for a great while - their downfall took place due to one Lockezi. Without consulting their people he signed over the nation's rights to the growing Dominion of Malin. He was swiftly ousted and the deal retracted, with Arabella Delevoye taking over leadership until the founders of the people returned and let it fall into ruin. Nowadays only a few Warhawke remnants remain, ironically now merging back with the Mali'ker who tried to bring about their downfall before.

Renelians

Renelians are no longer considered to be an active cultural movement. They trace their origins almost exclusively to the former Dark Elf hegemony of Renelia. This state, with New Magara’lin as its capital, was only present in the lands of Arcas. Renelians were mostly known for their veneration of Velulaei the Mother and Renelia, the daughter. Two ancestors that stand central in their culture. The biggest influence that they left behind can be found in current day Maehr-fashion. Colourful garbs, often produced from the finest silk, became widespread during the glory-days of the Renelian nation-state. Nowadays, it is extremely rare to still find anyone that remains of this culture and the city that supported its movement. Where they did pioneer however, was in bringing the Dark Elves above ground again. Opting for large citadels and spiraling towers, giving their people a more imperialistic aesthetic, as opposed to a tribal one.

Wanderers

It is no secret that the Dark Elves are a people spread out thinly between various nations. Many Dark Elves are not a part of any specific cultures. Some flock to Human nations and become knights there, some opt for a more nomadic lifestyle. Through some Maehr cultures, it is seen as a taboo to live with other races and adopt their cultural practices, while others don’t seem bothered by the idea of such. Other cultures like The Warhawkes, while once the most prominent movement in the Dark Elven community have slowly died down. Seeing only individuals following their traditions, rather than full on groups.

L A N G U A G E

Unlike other Elves, Dark Elves more often than not opt to speak Vel’luah, a language unique to this Elven subrace. Although the language itself is relatively new, especially compared to Ancient Elven, many Dark Elves throughout the lands of Aevos can be seen and heard speaking their native tongue.

Although the above words are written using Common letters, Vel’luah also have their own alphabet. These letters however are most often used in post writing for titles, names, etc.

Not all Common letters have a written version of them in Vel’luah. When it comes to names, it is not uncommon for Dark Elves to spell their names with a mix of Vel’luah and Common letters, if there is no other option. Other Maehr pay attention to this inconvenience, giving their children names that only include letters found in the Vel’luah alphabet.

C l a n s

In Dark Elven culture families almost always take the center stage. Major families are often referred to as “Clans”. Below is a list of notable Maehr clans of the modern history of the race. It should be noted that in Maehr culture, it is never taboo to not be part of a “notable” Clan. The namesake “Clan” often refers only to major/notable families, but more correctly refers to all Maehr families. A small family of 4 is considered a Clan just as a large one with 10 or more would be.

The clans listed below are examples of more notable and established Clans, both presently active and ones that have been seen throughout the recent history of the Dark Elves.

Do note that if you are wanting to be a part of this Clan, you should always reach out to the players listed below. If no players are listed, it means that the Clan is currently not recruiting, or not as active as they were before.

CLAN VEL’OBV

A Clan that traces its origins back to the far away lands of Ramasar. Clan Vel’obv is most known for their close affinity with water and the sea, as well as having a strong tradition of being artisans and traders. In terms of religion, they don’t hold true to a strict belief system, rather following a more broad tradition of ancestral worship. They are known to be some of the most fierce defenders of the Ramasarian identity, often seen as the more radical believers stemming from their homeland. Clan Vel’obv is seen as the main pioneer of the recently emerged Ramasarian culture, bringing their homeland’s customs to Aevos.

CLAN ILICAERYN

Clan Illicaeryn traces their roots centuries back, to the then still prominent Warhawke movement. As the traditions faded and Warhawke clans became rarer and rarer, they chose to adapt. Now they are known as skilled shipwrights, constructing impressive vessels of many sizes. Culturally, they have strongly aligned themselves with the Ramasarian movement. This makes them unique, in that they do not originally hail from the continent, but rather found the principles of the Ramasarians to align with their own.

CLAN TUDORIX

The Tudorix, a distinct faction within this broader community, emphasize the importance of serving a meaningful purpose in life. CLAN OUSSANA

The venerable clan Oussana traces their ancestry back to the great Khel Oussana, first dark elven high prince and one of the forbearers of ancestral worship among his kind. The clan follows the "Path of Z'ress", a belief in a continuous progression towards individualistic superiority through the constant waxing of strengths and waning of weaknesses. Though historically associated with martial traditions, the clan also plays host to ancient silkweaving traditions and occult haeuze (unshorn witch-priest) practices which dance the edge of what is acceptable under maehr culture.

CLAN JUSMIA

The Ancestral Clan of Jusmia dates itself back to the existence and creation of Magara'lin while aiding the Velulaei. A unique aspect of this clan is that the Pure Blooded Jusmia bear eyes that offer an unnatural amber hue. The Jusmia follow the codes of "Vau'nauq" and the Ideology of the Onyx Sanctum. Where worship of the spirits is done through good deeds and honorable actions for both Maehr and descendancy. Due to their intense warrior culture within the Codes of Vau'nauq mixed in with the spiritual patrons of Genthuraz, Luara, Kor, and the ancestors the Jusmia are well known for creating skilled Smiths, Warriors, and Shamans. Legends say they are one of the few clans that actively house cultural creatures like the Stilt striders.

CLAN LOA’CHIL

The Serpent Born are snake tamers who practice the balanced path of healer and warrior, adhering to the cycle of survival - a constant loop of victorious celebration in triumph and recovery alike, shown through elaborate bodily art that represents their trials. The elder generations of Loa'chil are tribal warriors and wild shamans adorned in the charms of subterranean and aquatic beasts, whereas the modern generations are more akin to travelling doctors and mad alchemists in search of physical and mental upliftment for themselves and everyone around them.

CLAN DELEVOYE

The Delevoye clan is one of the oldest among those who followed along with the Descendants' struggles from continent to continent. They are largely Matriarchal, with ties to most Spiritualist settlements, the original Warhawkes, and were notable for being family-first dreamers, crafters, and leaders. Most can be recognized by their lilac eyes, with black hair showing every other generation. Currently headed by Luna Delevoye, Travelling Shaman.

Clan Maiheiuh

Free spirited and artistically gifted, the Maiheiuh are known for being talented creators, dancers, poets, artists and merchants. They are commonly wanderers, taking in the wonders of the world around them, but are also fiercely devoted to their faith. Ancestor worship and praise to the Moon Mother are key cornerstones of what the Maiheiuh believe in. They speak Vel’luah fluently, being something they teach their young from birth. This clan is also known for their loose island attire, wearing outfits that allow for as much mobility and comfort as their stylish garb can provide.

CLAN VELULAEI’ONN

Clan Velulaei’onn were known as the royal Clan leading the nation of Renelia. They were most well-known for their pale, almost white eyes. The Clan claims to trace their heritage back directly to both Velulaei and Renelia, a claim which helped them to obtain their status of royalty amongst their fellow believers. A culture and state was built around them, and not the other way around. Clan Velulaei’onn would be both the founders and demolishers of Renelia.

CLAN INDOREN

The Great House Indoren is unique among the other notable bloodlines and clans of its age, lacking a part in the heroic histories of ancient times or a legendary progenitor to whom their lineage is traced. Instead, their tale begins many a century past on a small isle some few miles off from the nearest coast. Here a small but successful community of Dark Elves thrived. Overall, it was an unremarkable place, their diets bland and their homes carved into the seaside cliffs with little artistry, but the Mali who lived there were a content bunch. Their greatest pride of all, however, was the great temple of Luara which crowned the highest point of the landscape. A deeply pious people, for centuries they would make pilgrimages to the temple to give reverence to the Moon Mother, and to make offerings to their ancestors. And it was at this place of worship that the tale of Indoren the Wise began.

Want to play a Dark Elf?

As you might be able to tell, the Dark Elves are far more varied and colourful than one might initially assume! The community is ever growing, and regardless what path you want your character to take, we always encourage people to make a Dark Elf and roleplay in a way that is most enjoyable and engaging for them!

Although you can always join a clan that is open for recruitment, it is encouraged to make Clans of your own just the same! The Dark community is on the rise again, and we would love to see others join and bring in a fresh take, as well as unique cultures and stories.

The purpose of this guide is to touch on the new, modern, “Remnant Kha” who have GREATLY changed from when Kharajyr were initially introduced into LOTC.  And additionally to bring some attention back to the Kharajyr, alongside creating a NEW guide in the wake of the old—2018 old—piece.

To add onto this note, this is specifically ALSO a guide to roleplaying a Kharajyr—going into more depth so that players wishing to engage in Kha RP have a reference!  Thanks for reading.

To Preface:  PLAYERS WHO WANT TO PLAY KHARAJYR MUST HAVE AN ACCEPTED CREATURE APPLICATION TO DO SO! 

This should not be taken lightly, however, they ARE an ‘Open-CA’ and are thus available to apply for at any point should you be past the ‘first-week mark’ as a New Player.  Take care in your application—feel free to reference accepted Kharajyr CAs, although DO NOT copy and paste.  Good luck! :3

ALL Kharajyr who are applied for, unless they were born from two existing Kha, MUST HAVE just gone through their Lunar Pilgrimage.

The appearance of a Kharajyr is of a Human body mixed with a Feline head, features, and legs; such as inch long molars, a jointed tail, digitigrade legs, and—of course—fur.  Head Fur, on the other hand, acts differently depending on the gender of the Kharajyr.  Women growing hair similar to that of a regular human, while men growing ‘manes’ which can be trimmed or braided for customization.  Each respective sub-race bearing the same characteristics as their animal counterparts:  Kha’Pantera to Panthers; Kha’Cheetrah to Cheetahs; Kha’Leparda to Leopards; and Kha’Tigerasi to Tigers.
 

The Kharajyr share an air of melancholy on the topic of their Late-Goddess, Daemon Metztli.  All acknowledging her passing, sharing an eternal bond to each other in a reminiscing history that they ALL know, but now unbound by their loyalty solely to her.  The Khas' varying in their mental state.

Kharajyr having no set mentality, changes, or no particular bestial instinct.  They act as regular descendents, and their mentality is as such.  That is— the player has control of their mental state, and can do what they wish!

With this, they have an optional accent which can be played!  That, and a language—Kharahatla (Forum Link)—which can be spoken.  All of which is cultural, and no Kharajyr player is obligated to use such.  The accent is freeform; often utilizing the use of ‘a’-s and ‘w’-s in place of certain characters in words, just elongating sounds!  This is not imposed—and on another note—Kharajyr sometimes refer to themselves in the ‘Third-Person,’ both in name and reference.  This being a part of the dialect, and thus a cultural aspect, in which is ALSO not imposed—so feel free to NOT RP this, but know you’re welcomed to and that many do!  

⸻⸻  Kharajyr Sub-races  ⸻⸻

Each sub-race has its own uniqueness compared to one another, whether significantly different or not, but each share these traits:

 

• Retractable claws of up to 1-to-3 inch lengths; only capable of cutting through flesh.  In the event that these claws strike at armor of any kind in an attack action, the Kha is obligated to do “/roll 2” in which decides whether the claw breaks off—in which it will regrow back to its full length again in 3 days—or remain intact.  (rolling a 1 means it breaks; rolling a 2 means it still is intact)

• Better sight in the dark, capable of seeing up to a maximum of 20 blocks out should there be even a faint light source nearby—where others who don’t have their sight would only be able to see within the confines of the light source.  The minimum light strength needed for the trait to be usable is akin to the moon at night.  Kharajyr, however, cannot see in heavy or total darkness—and thus are unable to use this trait if THERE IS NO LIGHT.   Rendered the same blindness as others in such a scenario.

• The ability to fall from moderate heights, which has its limits, but allows for a Kharajyr to jump from the top of a small house and land with minimum-to-no damage—landing upright.  Should there be a fall that, mechanically, can kill you—it WILL kill you In-RolePlay.

• And lastly. . . sugar rushes.  All Kharajyr are particularly prone to the hyperactive side-effects of SUGAR and, when consumed in large amounts, sends them into a hyperactive frenzy!  This state is not one of hostility, necessarily, but like a child having a sugar-rush.  It’s something fun and dandy to play around with, so have fun with it!

Redlines:

• Kharajyr claws CANNOT pierce through armor of any kind.  If it does, then the Kharajyr does “/roll 2” to decide if the claw(s) break off.  [Rolling a “1” dictating the claw breaks, and rolling a “2” dictating it doesn’t!  The severity is up to the context of the scenario.]

• A Kharajyr MUST have a faint lightsource nearby in order to see in darkness.  The light source giving them a range of  “20 blocks out” through darkness.
   

• Kharajyr CANNOT live from a fall that KILLS them mechanically.

Kharajyr ALSO possess strong senses of smell — strictly flavor and unable to use scent to track or find something.

Kharajyr ALSO have the ability to climb, however, BOUND by mechanical means.

Kharajyr ALSO have the ability to eat “nigh anything, including flesh to slight carrion from the bone.”

• Kharajyr CANNOT use their sense of smell to track or find something.

• Kharajyr CANNOT scale walls beyond what is capable by minecraft mechanics.

• Kharajyr CAN eat flesh to even slight carrion from the bone, however, still restricted to FOODS.

• Kharajyr MAX age is of 200 years.
   

• Kharajyr CANNOT be pure white—can be off-white, or grey, just not pure white.

• Kharajyr CANNOT FTB, breed, or be able to pursue any kind of sexual endeavor with Non-Kha; however, ARE, able to romance with them. . .  Don't be weird about it.  (PLEEAASSEEEE reframe from making. . . as said in the original lore. . . "Kha’ created specifically for “”romantic exploits”" as Kha have had a history.  The Race deserves to be better than that.  Play them as Characters or not at all.) 

Now, to the ACTUAL sub-races and their traits :3

Kha'Pantera —

  The black-furred sub-race of the Kharajyr, appearing as panthers.  They usually grow to heights of 5’’5 and max of 6’’4 feet, with weights often between 140 and 200 pounds on a healthy scale.  The sub-race’s black pelt often accompanied by their agility and above-average strength (that is, however, flavor and not mechanical)!

This sub-race's black fur being the basis of their unique trait:

When in the dark, or in areas of darkness, this Kharajyr sub-race is at an advantage with their stealth!  The ‘Pantera black pelt allowing them to disguise themselves within dark areas, making them more difficult to spot in extreme darkness!  Though, in comparison, making them easier to spot in daylight or lit areas.

They possess strength equal to a peak descendant, and are considered a stronger variant of Kharajyr to the Kha‘Leparda.

Kha'Leparda —

 The most ‘descendant-like’ of all the sub-races as Kharajyr, appearing as Leopards. ‘Leparda usually growing to heights 5 and up to 5’’10 feet, weighing around 120 to 160 pounds on a healthy scale.  This sub-race appearing with brown, cream, or yellow fur—occasionally bearing black spots—and their tails often shorter than other Kha!

Possess no unique trait, similarly more alike to regular humans.

Kha'Cheetrah —

  The fastest and most agile sub-race of the Kharajyr, appearing as cheetahs.  Shorter and small, they usually grow to heights of 4’’6 and up to 5’’4 feet max—weighing around 80 to 140 pounds.  The ‘Cheetrah bearing cream or yellow pelts with LOTS of black spots, having innate agility and reaction speed. . . but also the weakest in strength to other Kharajyr.

‘Cheetrah reaction speed and agility allow them to maneuver around attacks more nimbly, however, are still unable to dodge EVERY attack thrown at them and thus cannot be used as such.

They possess goblin strength.

Are NOT as fast as Cheetah, and do not possess faster running speed.  They are ‘fast-reacting’ in comparison to being FAST!

Kha'Tigrasi —

  The strength-bearing sub-race of the Kharajyr, appearing as tigers.  ‘Tigrasi growing to 5’’10 and up to 7’’ feet max, weighing around 150 to 250 pounds.  This sub-race the most muscular with orange fur bearing white splotches and black stripes.

‘Tigrasi possess strength that is below that of a fully-grown Orc, Uruk, unable to match it, but near the same level.

The Moonlight Sanctuary / The Moonlit Sanctuary of Ettitica —

  It no longer exists on its own, but was a settlement based in Almaris's Nor'asath, moving to Aevos under Nor-Velyth to then moved into Nevaehlen after Nor-Velyth's destruction.  A sanctuary for Kharajyr, coming together by fusing a previous Kharajyr settlement, ‘Ettitica’, and the existing settlement of ‘The Moonlight Sanctuary.’  The discord's still open, but group integrated into a wider settlement-to-be!

No meme RP whatsoever. A little joke or two is fine, but keep in mind we are on an activity trial. If we turn out to be a completely meme-y low-population race we will be hard shelved, along with our characters. So please, do not make meme characters. Also, if this race gets hard shelved we probably won’t see another bestial race for a very long time so do try to be active.

You don’t want to get wonkified. So: No “Jerry”, no “ratatouille”, no “mickey mouse”, got it? We’re already lactose intolerant because of this.

Starting off

Before you do ANYTHING, read “Musin - The Mousemen of Almaris”, the lore piece for Musin. This is vital to understanding the rest of the guide.

Let’s start your Musin character off with a name.

Naming

Musin follow a simple naming convention. Each Musin is named after their mother’s favorite thing. This can be anything from foods to colors, although usually not proper nouns.

EXAMPLES: Peach, Garnet, Maize, Juniper, Olive, Rouge, Viridian, Seeds

A second name may be added if another member of the community already has the first name. This name is usually added after the first name. This name is derived from a early Musin refugee the child has descended from.

In practice, this name is basically anything that’s relatively short, and of French origin.

Examples: Blossom Ritter, Garnet Babin, Seeds Crumlin

Appearance

First, read the appearance section on the lore. Obviously, you should look like a mouse. Fur patterns may follow any fur pattern that a real mouse would follow- which is a surprisingly wide range! For information, visit https://www.afrma.org/fancymice.htm .

For clothing, Musin clothing tends to be patchwork. Since very few Musin tailors exist, Musin tend to ‘recycle’ clothing of the other races, giving the clothes a very tattered look.

Location

A Musin can go anywhere, but the only current Musin-based settlement is in Urguan. It is located in The Mousehole, in the Deepways.

How to play a Musin

Combat

Musin are pacifistic not by choice, but by necessity. Musin are undeniably the weakest out of all the races, outranked by even halflings.

Musin have the ‘Small Stature’ feat, which entails a number of redlines...

• Musin have little strength. A hit from a shortsword will more often than not hurt the Musin instead of the enemy. They simply don’t have the muscle mass to do much!

  • EXAMPLE: Wicker struggles to lift the longsword, his knees buckling under the weight. It may be a longsword to all others, but to him, it’s… Too big to be called a sword. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it’s more like a large hunk of iron. He eventually lifts up the six-pound, leveraged behemoth, but he is utterly exhausted. The swing is pathetically weak, and the flat of the blade bounces off the enemy.

• Musin are fragile creatures. A direct blow from anything large as a dagger could be a mortal wound on their feeble bodies. Getting hit isn’t an option.

  • EXAMPLE: Wicker gets hit by the longsword he just dropped, the enemy having claimed it for themselves. He ******* dies

• Musin cannot see well in the daytime. They’re forced to squint in light, reducing their view distance by half. It is unknown if stealing Officer Grudgebeard’s shades cures this…

  • EXAMPLE: Wicker steps out into a bright, sunny day. Unfortunately, he cannot see very well, and has to squint… Blasted, he can’t make out anything in the distance. Wait.. something’s approaching. A large blob. After it gets within 24 meters of range, he can see it, but it’s too late. A DWARVEN STEAM ENGINE OH MY GOD

• However, not all is lost. Musin are dexterous. Their hands are the smallest, and move quickly and surely. A well-placed rapier strike is a Musin’s choice of wounds- just don’t expect to pierce armor.

  • EXAMPLE: Wicker is back. He’s fighting the foe that slaughtered him in a previous life, and is ready to avenge.. Well, himself. He pulls out his much smaller rapier in the shape of an oversized needle, and makes a stab towards the enemy. (Roll.) He hits! In-between the chinks of the armor, between the cuirass and the rerebrace, his thin sword pierces deep into the armpit of the enemy.

• Musin are nimble. Ducking and swerving around hacks and slashes is easier for a Musin. Getting out of range isn’t as easy, as they’re quite small- so watch for falling rocks.

  • EXAMPLE: The enemy can still fight! The enemy swings his sword towards Wicker. (Roll.) Wicker expertly ducks underneath the sword, scampering to the side as he does so.

  • EXAMPLE: An olog drops a very, very wide rock on Wicker. Wicker attempts to flee, but the range of the rock is too large. He is crushed.

• Musin have excellent hearing. Their large ears allow them to capture high-pitched sounds like a bee buzzing or a rat chittering. They also can see rather well in darkness!

  • EXAMPLE: Wicker wakes up in a dark cave. He rubs his eyes, and can see clearly in the darkness. His ears twitch. He hears a high-pitched, long whistle in the distance. The alarm call of a feral rat, it seems.

Overall, as a Musin, don’t use hack-and-slash swords and aim for a more dextrous approach in combat. You are a scout, not a tank!

Bows are difficult to acquire, as most bows aren’t made for someone of your size. They’re also a bit difficult to draw.

Normal crossbows are usually too large, but hand crossbows fit quite nicely on Musin with their smaller frames and easier draw.

All races, including Musin, can use enchanted items, so these make a viable alternative as always.

Mentality

The Musin mind has several quirks and facets of it. Overall, they are generally intelligent, but they also have a few instincts and detriments.

Let’s start with the Musin’s urge to thieve.

Despite all of the efforts that have been made, Musin are natural-born thieves. In their mind, it’s not exactly thievery. Musin see the abundance of materials used by the Descendants and feel an instinctual urge to repurpose and reuse it. This can take the form of reusing old inorganic garbage in their crafts, or be as heinous as stealing massive treasures for their own deeds. The instinct is always there, though, and cannot be removed throughout their life. Nothing must go to waste if it can be repurposed.

Despite this, most Musin generally follow a moral code that discourages stealing from the poor or other Musin. It’s uncommon, but not unheard of.

EXAMPLE: Wicker wanders around the Providence cathedral, and notices a large number of shiny gold chalices lying about. He hums. It’s not glued down. No-one’s using it. Must be trash. He scoops a few of the ceremonial cups into a bag for ‘recycling’.

EXAMPLE: Wicker comes across a number of dull tin cans lying outside Sutica. These could work nicely as the basis for some lanterns. He brings them back home.

Intellect

Musin are fast learners, surprisingly- but they haven’t had much formal education. After all- they just now met the descendants on Almaris, their understanding of tech is severely limited at the moment. This definitely has the capacity to change over time.

EXAMPLE: Wicker’s old sword was made of a long piece of rebar. However- he’s recently learned smithing from the local dwarves. It’s difficult, but he’s managed to fashion himself an ornately carved needle-rapier.

Language

Musin speak common fluently, having learned grammar before the arrival of the descendants. A slight skaven accent is permitted, especially in children. Musin may squeak or chitter in times of emotion as well.

EXAMPLE: “Hello. How are you doing?” Wicker asks.

EXAMPLE: The person wicker asked was having a particularly bad day. He is punched in the face. He emits a loud squeak of pain.

EXAMPLE: Wicker’s nephew, Butter, is around 5 years old. They haven’t quite learned common yet. “How-is man-thing? Good-thing?” He is quickly reprimanded by his father, and the child attempts to correct himself. “I.. I-mean, are.. These- men.. Man. are- you doing alright, thing?” Better, but not quite.

Crafting

Musin are said to have shoddy constructions.. But this is not due to lack of skill- it is due to lack of knowledge. Musin are dextrous, with the smallest hands out of all the races, something valuable for creating intricate trinkets and machinery. Luckily, Musin are located within a dwarven settlement with plenty of masters to learn from, so don’t be afraid to start asking around.

Musin tend to reuse items they’ve recycled or stolen in whatever crafts they’ve made. Make sure to include some sense of garbage within your created items.

Examples: A lantern made out of a tin can. Pants made out of patchwork cloth. A crossbow made out of old skis. A helmet made out of cookware.

Musin can’t learn most magic, but they can learn nonmagical feats. Test out your engineering skill under a teacher, you may be surprised at your aptitude.

Curiosity

The world’s a big place, and you’re a small mouse. You love new things, and love to explore. Whether a lust for adventure or an interest in the odd, you have a decreased sense of neophobia.

EXAMPLE: Wicker sees a mysterious mansion in the middle of the woods, long abandoned and decrepit. He is excited to explore it!

Hygiene

Musin are very hygienic, and have to be to stay alive. To avoid the many plagues their rattish brethren carry they require regular grooming and bathing, and are usually relatively clean creatures as a result.

Musin also have to file down their teeth by chewing on hard objects, such as wood, occasionally to maintain good dental health.

EXAMPLE: Wicker starts out his day by waking up, and taking a small bath in an oversized pot. After drying off, he spends about an hour incessantly grooming his fur with his hands and a metal comb, before gnawing on a maple block for a few minutes. Syrup-y..

Cuisine

Musin cuisine consists of sweet foods and crunchy foods. Sweet foods serve the crave for sugar that all rodents feel, and it generally agrees with their palates. 

Crunchy foods aid in the filing down of Musin teeth, and are highly valued for this purpose.

Some Musin may like cheese, even though it hurts their stomach, but savory foods are generally less beloved than sweets.

EXAMPLE: Wicker has a full stack of graham crackers for breakfast, dipped in peanut butter aaand with a side of apples for ‘health’.

Religion

Musin religion is syncretic. The Musin clan culture is superstitious, and often mixes spooky omen-telling and fear of spirits with the established religion in the region.

The Giant holds a special place in Musin theology as he is believed to be a sort of godhead, or at least a revered figure. Many believe his claims that, even though he’s dead, he will return someday. Tales of his ghost reappearing are a favorite among the keep.

EXAMPLE: Wicker believes that The Giant is part of the Brathmordakin, despite it being completely false, and easily provable. He personally believes he is one of the Heroes.. Despite the fact he’s definitely not dwarven.

EXAMPLE: Flicker believes that The Giant is a saint of Canonism, or even an incarnation of Horen himself, despite the evidence leading towards the contrary.

Settlement

Musin are currently settled with the Urguan dwarves, in a shanty town to the side of the bazaar. Our ancestral homeland, Crumlin Keep, has been evacuated due to a number of safety hazards. It is in dire need of repair, and gorilla glue is no longer enough to keep it safe and stable. There are also rumors of large beasts inhabiting it.

The clan is currently headed by a ‘keeper’. Under her are commanders, and guards. Despite the imposing names, they are all virtually harmless, having outdated terms from when the troupe lived in a keep.

EXAMPLE: Toffee is the current high keeper of The Mousehole in the Deepways of Urguan, and heir to Crumlin keep.

Creating a Musin CA

A Character Application is needed to play a Musin. Cover your backstory in lore, and cover your basic traits and mentality in lore. Include that you have a lesser soul and cannot learn most magics. Acknowledge that meme RP will result in your CA being revoked.

EXAMPLE: Some bastard applies as Mickey Mouse and eats a ban.

I - Preface

This guide was created to ensure that new and returning players to the Empire have the information they need to understand the different roleplay communities and the government of the Empire. Due to this, some of the more niche and private communities within the Empire may be excluded for this guide.

All of the information in this document may seem overwhelming so it is important to note that you do not have to read all of the information to be able to enjoy roleplay within the Empire and New Providence. I recommend reading what piques your interest and coming back as needed to learn more.

II - Introduction to Oren and New Providence

The Holy Orenian Empire, commonly referred to as Oren or the Empire, is one of the largest nations on LOTC and is almost as old as the server itself. Upon the current continent of Almaris the Empire controls much of the land on the east of the land mass. The empire is home to all 3 human subraces with many unique cultures found in each subrace. The empire is also home to a community of elves who have integrated into human society.

 While the Empire has many towns, estates, and farms across its land, the majority of RP takes place in the capital of New Providence. New Providence is home to the Aster Palace where much of the noble and court RP takes place, the Imperial State Army’s Bastille which operates as the hub of military RP, and many other major roleplay communities hubs. New Providence is most active during the EST afternoon with most events being hosted between 3PM EST and 9PM EST. Despite the majority of events taking place during American time zones, there is ongoing roleplay at all times.

III - The Roleplay Communities

Due to the sheer size of the Empire and the diversity of the playerbase a large array of RP communities have developed. Each community offers a unique experience and an amazing group of players to roleplay with. These communities also frequently intermingle at events and during day-to-day roleplay.

I - Military RP

The Imperial State Army, or as it’s more commonly called, the ISA, is the largest Military on LOTC. The ISA is the main defense of the Empire and is likely the largest of the roleplay communities of the Empire. The military offers a large array of RP such has, patrols, combat events, training events, and allows for you to roleplay with your brothers in arms as you ascend the ranks of the powerful military from a simple Recruit to a brave Sergeant or Lieutenant. It also branches out to other wings such as medical, engineering and navy roleplay.

A member of the ISA could break up fights, defeat enemies in war, fight off bandits, work as a medic to treat the injured, or hunt down monsters that threaten the Empire. With so many different options there is always something to do in the military and they always want new members.

Within the ISA there are 4 different Brigades, each having their own unique duties within the Empire. The first Brigade, The Empire’s Hammer, is home to the majority of the fighting force of the military. 

The members of the first brigade are generally tasked with the day to day operations and upkeep of the military. The second Brigade, the Imperial Combat Academy, is the training Brigade, home to the new recruits and skilled officers who are tasked with teaching the newcomers.

 Every soldier receives the training they need to be successful from this Brigade. The third Brigade, the Helena Dragoons, is the cavalry of the military, this brigade is adept in survival skills, commonly scouts out before military advances, and is trained to move through enemy territory without being spotted. 

The fourth Brigade, the Imperial Elite Guard, is composed of the most skilled soldiers of the military and is the personal guard of the Emperor and the Imperial family. The forth Bridge frequently operates as bodyguards or escorts for important members of society.

The Combat within the ISA is split into two categories, Combat Roleplay, commonly called CRP, and PvP. Both forms of combat are required in training. CRP is combat that is performed via emoting, it allows for more detailed combat and can be quite enjoyable, but is time consuming. Because of this it is only used in smaller combat situations or planned events. PvP is the traditional 1.9 Minecraft combat and is used when there is a larger number of people involved in a fight or when the people involved choose to use it instead.

II - Religious RP

Have you ever wanted a more subtle form of community leadership? Have you ever wanted to dive into a decade of lore? Have you ever wanted to be a part of one of LotC’s more ancient institutions? If so, you may want to take a look at the Church of Canon, one of the largest organized religions on Almaris!

Church roleplay may seem daunting, scary, or even boring — but trust me, it isn’t! Church roleplay is easy to pick up, and the community is incredibly friendly. With the new addition of female Priests and the fact that any Descendant can become a priest, the Church is open to so many different types of people. 

So, how is the Church structured? Well, the High Pontiff is the leader of the Church and the Vicar of GOD. He (or she, perhaps in the future) oversees the appointment of Clerics to various positions, with the guidance of his Curia. The Church’s territories are divided into archdioceses, and those are further divided into dioceses. Archdiocese are lead —or shepherded, as we say— by an Archbishop, while a Diocese is shepherded by a Bishop. Priests serve within an Archdiocese or Diocese.

How do you become a Priest? That’s easy! You will approach a Priest —easily identifiable by their black robes— and ask to become an Acolyte. An Acolyte will study the Faith, and when they are ready they will write and submit a Thesis. This Thesis —which needn’t be very long— will be reviewed by the Prelate of the Clergy and they will deem you ready or not for ordination. A bishop or someone of higher ranking in the Clergy can ordain an individual as a Priest. That’s how you become a Priest!

Now, if being a Priest does not interest you, you could also become a member of the Church’s official Holy Order — sworn to protect the Faith. Perhaps you want to be a Monk or a Nun, humbly pursuing virtue and knowledge as a part of a Monastic Order. Or even a Deacon, a non-Clergy —or Laity— individual who is able to assist in rites and ceremonies after training under a Priest!

There are so many paths you can take in the Church, no matter who you are or what roleplay you enjoy!

III - Noble & Court RP

The Aster Court is the standing Royal Court of Oren under Their Imperial Majesties, Emperor Philip III & Empress Anastasia I. The Court is the source of cultural growth and development within the empire and acts as a pillar of High Society.

Within the Court there is a strict hierarchy separating the nobles from the commoners, but as a new player do not let this scare you away. The palace offers multiple positions for commoners, from cooks or maids to tutors; commoners play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the Court. 

Additionally, working as servantry within the palace is a great entry into Noble and Court RP as it allows you to meet the active members of court and develop relationships with both IRPly and OOCly. 

The noble women of Oren also have the unique opportunity to act as ladies in waiting for the Imperial Princesses, assisting them in their daily routine and managing their social life. 

One of the most famous events of the Aster Court is the Social Season, a year long (One OOC week) event in which the noble and upper class women of Oren present themselves before the court and begin their search for a husband. The year long event involves a multitude of events across the empire to keep all the ladies busy.

Within the Court there are plenty of opportunities for RP. The leaders of the Court regularly host events that range from Balls, Dinners, and festivals, keeping members of the court from ever boring. 

At these events the attendees are expected to follow the strict etiquette of the Aster Palace lest they wish to be the gossip of the night! The Governor of the Palace and their right hand, The Majordomo, host and arrange many of these events as they manage nearly every aspect of the court. Many ladies dream of one day holding one of these positions though only the best will ever achieve it. 

IV - Political Roleplay

If bureaucratic roleplay is more your speed then you are in luck. With two paths of political and government roleplay at your disposal.

The first is the City government composed of the Mayor and their commissioner board. The only elected position is the Lord or Lady Mayor so if you are interested in campaigning, this is a great position to take on! 

The other path of political roleplay is to take on a ministry job. The government comprises seven sectors.

The first being the Ministry of  Secret Service. Ever wished to be a spy? Do you want to get valuable information for the Emperor himself? Then speaking to the Director of this branch of the government would serve you well!

Another sector is the Civil Affairs department. If you like learning about the history of our nation whilst writing documents, this department is just up your alley. This department also features the Providence Post which is a bi-weekly newspaper that is published to the masses along with helping the immigration of new citizens into Oren.

The third sector is the Treasury department. People within this department are the tax collecting, money making machines. They are in charge of city budgets, collecting taxes on homes and more. If you like crunching numbers, this sector will be your favorite.

Fourth is the Foreign Affairs section which relies heavily on how other nations perceive us! Having allies is important and keeping up relations is even more important. If you are good with words and or have connections in other places then we could always use you in this department.

Next is our fifth sector, also known as the Ministry of Justice. This one is great for people who want to seek the whims of law protectors. Whether you want to be a lawyer, a judge, or simply a detective- this section of the Imperial Government is one you want to partake in.

The next sector, being the sixth, is the War Office. Joining this sector will require being in the ISA as shown in the tidbit about the military in section I.

The last and seventh sector of the Imperial government is the Home Office. The Home Office wears many hats, one building a construction hat. These people are in charge of ensuring the city is up to date and looking clean. They do building projects while also managing the land vassals inhabit.

~ A Short Player's Guide ~

INTRODUCTION

So you want to play an Estel? That is fantastic news! This guide is a short, easy-breezy guide to styling yourself and your roleplay around the simple concepts of the Estel elves. First, though, who are the Estel? The Estel — or the trusted — are elves who reject the bindings of a subrace. They are “trusted” due to their loyalty and dutiful service to the High Prince of the Elves. They wear fine clothes, worship the natural world and stand as a beacon to all others of elfdom. How do you play one?

PERSONALITY and PERCEPTION

The Estel are a lordly, ethereal people. They seek to represent the goodness of the world through their actions and take every opportunity to serve their nation and kin justly. Rather than explain in detail through text, I have elected to share some videos that help to explain how the Estel represent themselves in roleplay.

WISDOM and SINCERITY

The Estel aim to be a wise people instead of a purely intelligent one. They seek to synthesize information and brandish their foresight as their wit and charm. Despite this, they also aim to be sincere and kind to all races. They see value in everyone and are loving people.

In this clip, we see a heartfelt conversation between Elrond and Bilbo. Despite the kind words, the elflord still enjoys the sincere and foolish moment he shares with the hobbit. Likewise, the Estel strive to be seen as keepers of wisdom and enjoyers of goodness.

In this clip, too, we see a dinner scene within Elrond’s home of Rivendell. He jests with Gandalf, recounts the history of the weapons found by the party and is stupefied by the silliness of the dwarves without becoming enraged. Likewise, the Estel are known to be kindhearted and foolish themselves, but not as much as other races. Their playfulness is subtle.

TRADITION and REGALITY

The Estel hold grace and tradition above all else. They aim to present themselves as strong, ancient people capable of great acts of heroism and inspiration. They give gifts and trust in the will and strength of all who give them a reason to.

In this clip, we see the elves of Lothlorien giving advice, inspiration and gifts to the Fellowship of the Ring. Likewise, the Estel aim to provide insight and power to others who travel to their lands with good intentions.

POWER and DECISIVENESS

Despite all else, the Estel are a strong people. They are subject to envy, fear and ruthlessness so long as it is served alongside justice, though. They act quickly and spare little time for voting or group-think. Each Estel strives to be a leader and to protect their kin no matter the cost.

In this clip, we see Thranduil and his company of elves interrogating an orc prisoner who raided their lands. There is fear that drives Thranduil to act, but it is a strong front that he provides to his enemies. Likewise, the Estel are not peaceful by any means. They will act ruthlessly if they are threatened, but they are no brutes.

In this clip, we see the soldiers of Lothlorien coming to support the men of Rohan in their defense of Helm’s Deep. Their arrival inspires and surprises the Men present. Likewise, the Estel aim to be life-long friends to those in need and to provide their services and soldiers when needed. They are trusted for a reason.

ATTIRE and FASHION

The Estel aim to represent themselves in beautiful clothing and armor. They wear extravagant robes, dresses, sashes and anything else that make them stand out in a crowd of gambeson-wearing humans. This guide includes building blocks to starting out, but you roleplaying the character is what is going to make it the most fun. There is more to learn about traditions, religion and culture, but those will be discovered through roleplay.

This culture is not meant to be overbearing or dominant in any way. It is a crash-course into some of the great elven roleplay we are cultivating in the southern woodlands. If you enjoy it, come on down and meet us.

Whether you be a fresh faced accepted player, grizzled veteran or someone who is yet to apply, this guide will give you the 4-1-1 of general do's and donts of RPing an Orc, as well as some general knowledge and lore of who we are as a people. -What are Orcs?-

Well, according to the Wiki and server lore, "The Orcs are the descendants of Krug, native to the former War Nation of Krugmar of Aegis. The Common term "Orcs" refers to the natural, strong and honorable descendants of Krug. Legally, however, an Orc can be any citizen that has earned his place among the Orcs of the Iron Uzg." But being an orc is so much more than that. Being an Orc is being a freak beast, being an Orc is like being a train armoured in spikes without any brakes, being an Orc is like being a walking fortress with biceps the size of boulders, being an Orc is entering into the years 7-12 Kiddie Sports Games as a bonafied Olympic gold medalist, you're better than everyone else and they might as well cancel because you already won.

You are a hulking wall of muscle mass with decent agility, and you can lift things that other people can't. Want to swing a sword bigger than the average Elf? You can. Why? Because Orcs are bigger, stronger and have extreme resilence and will power, thats why. Orcs are often thought to be dumb, this however is not the case. Whilst it is true that Orcs do not have the same level or even style of education as their pinkskinned cousins, Orcs typically have a good mind for strategy, tactical intelligence and overall cunning. Our ancestor, the Old-Father, Krug, was the most keen of the four brothers. He was the only one not blinded by Iblees' lies and false promises. Keep that in mind when a Human calls you a heathen.

-Why you should play one-

Discounting the obvious physical attributes that come with the race, there is a vast number of reasons as to why you should play an Orc if you are looking at applying or thinking about making a new character. Orc's have some of the most well versed, dynamic, documented and interesting lore and subsequent RP amongst the whole server. Whilst I may be bias, I'd go so far as to say it is the most, in regards to all those categories. From the Orc's signature warrior culture, to their untold spiritual secrets, there is more to us greenskins than meets the eye.

What is good about this buffet of paths you can go down with your character is that you aren't simply limited to one outlet. To elaborate, whilst its uncommon for a warrior to be a shaman, this is not impossible. You can delve into all aspects of Orcish society and culture from the get go, you can dip your feet into all of them and then find the kind of RP you like the most as both you and your character grow and develop together. This is the beauty of Orcish RP, you are only limited to the lore. Being a mighty warrior is achievable, as is being a talented shaman, a skilful tinkerer, a renown armsmen, a famed merchant, a lethal hunter, the list goes on. I wont lie, everyone starts at the bottom, and I will go into this in more detail in the Paying your Dues section, but unlike the closed interweb of royal families you see with pinkskins, in Orc society and RP, if you have a good attitude, are capable and get things done, you can climb the hierarchy. 

-Subraces-

There are three subraces that come under the 'Orc' banner.

Uruk (Orc) - Uruks are Orcs of the most common bloodline, they vary from sandy to brown-gray and Green in color, with hair almost exclusively dark brown or black. Their size and musculature set them apart from all other races of the world, sometimes considered giants, ranging from 6 feet to 8 feet. Uruks have long been thought to be utterly dull of wit,
although this is largely due to foreign ignorance of the orcish culture. Their strong bloodline is highly valued in combat, and so many are thrust into the warrior culture at an early age,
forcing them to take on a practical, no-nonsense approach to their daily life, almost entirely devoid of the formal educations and social graces of the other races. This is often misinterpreted as stupidity, much to the dismay of their enemies.

Gobo (Goblin) - Orcs of the Goblin bloodline are notably smaller than other Orcs, although on average larger than humans. Usually reaching from 4 feet to 6 feet, and not exceeding seven feet, they have lean, sinewy frames. It is rumored that the origins of the goblin bloodline began long ago, when Orcs intermingled with Elves and bore offspring. Goblins generally exhibit heightened intelligence and advanced technological abilities when compared to their larger brethren.

 Olog (Ogre) - Also known as orogs or ogres, Ologs are the largest of the orcish subraces. Huge, going from 8 feet to 10 feet, dull-witted towers of flesh, fat, and muscle, ologs are slow-witted and primitive. Ologs are incapable of thinking without speaking their thoughts, possess very limited vocabularies, and are said to have only three emotions, hunger, happiness and rage.

I'll put this in the simplest terms possible. When choosing a subrace, it is best to do it tailored to your playstyle. 

•               Uruks are immensely strong and reasonably agile. They are smart, and have the ability to be great minds coupled with being great warriors.

•               Gobos strength is typically slightly weaker than someone like a humans, but their main assets are their speed and raw intelligence. Some of the greatest contraptions known to the realm were made by Gobos.

•               Ologs are unearthly strong, being able to move boulders should they feel it necessary. However, if they were to take an IQ test, their results would show that they are mentally disabled. Bluntly, they are just dumb.

So what it comes down to is, do you want to be pretty good at everything, within reason? Then you would pick Uruk. Do you want to be quick and intelligent, and don’t mind lacking in strength? Then you’d pick a Gobo. Do you want to move mountains, and don’t mind having the brain power of a small child? Well, then you’d play an Olog. These are key choices you have to make, fitting to your play style.

-Orc Culture-

Whilst everything in this guide is quintessential to Orc Culture as a whole, this section will be discussing the nitty gritty. Essientially the key to Orc Culture is; Might Makes Right. Only the strong survive, the weak are culled for they do not deserve to live, and the cowardly are struck down where they stand. However, Orcs do value brain power, but at the end of the day us greenskins will always turn to a strong first over a strong mind. In addition, Orcs place an incredibly high value on honour. Doing dishonourable acts will get you beaten, if not worse. Basically there are two things that will sum this up better than I can, first is Krug’s Code and the second is the Code’s of Honour.

Krugs code;

 

 

 

Might makes Right: Martial strength carries a lot of influence among orcs.  It is acceptable to use threats of violence against other orcs, and to enforce those threats as long as you don’t kill or maim them.

 

 

 

Theft is dishonorable, but demanding to buy something from another party is not.  If you can pay market rate for an item and back up your offer with sufficient threat, you can buy an item right off someone’s person, even against their will.  Just tell them you like that earring, toss some coins at them, and pull it off their ear.  If an orc wants something you have, you can either accept a reasonable offer or get ready to fight them.  If they are with a gang and you are not, better accept their offer.  This includes anything – their home, their slave, their weapon, or whatever.  It must be done face-to-face, wherever the item is.  You can’t take someone’s home behind their back and leave a pile of gold outside the locked door.  That would be cowardly.

 

 

 

A personal insult is the same as a challenge to a fight.  Note that boasting is not an insult.  You can say, “My blade is better than yours,” and that doesn’t justify being attacked.  Orcs frequently go back and forth with boasts as a social contest.  It can be something done in good spirit between friends, with the loser buying the next round of drinks.  On the other hand, if you tell an orc, “You smell pretty, like an elf,” that is definitely a challenge.

 

 

 

It is unquestionably true that physical strength holds pride of place in orcish society. Thus, a frail or crippled orc child would be considered a source of weakness, and shall be culled via abandoning deep in the desert. But conversely, an orc child that survives and returns stronger is considered blessed by the Old father.  Older Orcs that no longer are able to aid the Orcish society in any way, must seek an honorable death. Being a burden is dishonorable.

 

 

 

Loot and Pillage is the right and way of life of Orcs and no one not even the Rex can deny an Orc that. A leader that does not allow raids and plunder is no leader at all.

 

 

 

Orcs to an orc, the weak are simply weak, and are beneath them in society, all other races are weak.

 

 

 

•               Disputes: Fighting:  Non-lethal(Unarmed, or Wooden Weapons), one-on-one conflict between the disputing parties.  Anybody present is more or less required to gather around and act as a living arena wall for the people involved.  Missile weapons and magic are not allowed.  

 

 

 

The fighting judgment is used for any kind of minor dispute where the truth is unclear. Killing your opponent in this kind of fight usually results in a death sentence for you.  The idea is to disable them as much as possible so that, in addition to being proven wrong, they are unable to do anything for hours or days.  

 

 

 

If one party cannot be expected to fight, they can take a few minutes to try and find someone to represent them.  If they can’t find someone, or if they refuse to try, they automatically lose the dispute.

 

 

 

•               Combat:  This is similar to Fighting but allows the use of weapons.  The bout can be immediate or as late as the next morning – no later than that.  This punishment is used to resolve serious disputes, such as accusations of murder, dishonor, or grand theft. The combatants can use what ever weapons or armor they deem fit, it does not need to be fair.

 

 

 

Killing one’s opponent is acceptable, but sometimes an orc gains honor or additional concessions by sparing the opponent.  It is acceptable to hold the defeated opponent at sword point asking for an apology and one of his boars, in exchange for his life.  Any such deal must be announced openly.  If the loser accepts, his life is protected.  The judge of the fight can also declare a winner and an end, if neither side seems fit to make a determination (for example, if they are both too weakened or too drunk to speak).  In this case, the declared winner has the right to execute the loser.

 

 

 

•               Death:  This is reserved for cases where the accused has fled a previous honor combat, has been declared a disgrace, is a known cheater, argues too much with the Judge, or otherwise is not suitable for combat.  A peaceful Orc or very feeble person would also fall into this category.  In this case, the Judge or his subordinate will simply drive a dagger through the chest or neck of the accused.  If the accused is somehow able to escape or avoid death, they become a fugitive and anyone can kill them for a reward.

 

 

 

•               Legal Judges are, The Rex, Dominus, Targoth, Clan Wargoths, or the Durba  officially assigned by the Rex for this task.

 

 

The codes of honour;

 

- Grudges and Debts -

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

๏ If a deal is struck between two individuals within the lands of the Iron Uzg, and one side fails to fulfill their obligations, the offended side will have a year to bring their strife to the Rex. The Rex will determine the legitimacy of the claim, and with him as witness, satisfaction will be demanded through blood, tribute, or labor. Failure to fulfill the Rex's sentence will result in death.

 

 

 

๏ If a competition has been wagered upon within the Iron Uzg, and any cheating has been uncovered, those witness will have a month to bring their claims to the Rex. The culprits of the foul play shall be thrown from the plateaus into the water below, and forced to scale the cliffside. They will be forbidden from entering any further competitions for a decade, unless they collect the heads of five enemies in battle and offer them to the Rex.

 

 

 

๏ If there has been theft within the lands of the Iron Uzg, the victims of the robbery will have a year to come forward to the Rex with their suspicions, or proof if they have taken initiative. If the evidence acquired proves to be legitimate, the culprit will have a crate filled with the same items, or likenesses of the item they stole - and be forced to climb with it to the peak of Mt. Vrogak before night falls. At which point, after finishing their descent, they will be expected to immediately klomp the individual they stole from - no matter how exhausted they are.

 

 

 

๏ If a murder is committed within a clan between members, the Wargoth or Warchief has total authority over the fate of the criminal. If a murder is committed between members of differing clans, the dispute must be brought to the Rex, judgement will be proclaimed when evidence is brought forward of the claim. If a murder is committed upon a slave by an Uruk or honorary Uruk, they will be expected to adhere to the laws of theft - carrying the corpse to the top of Mt. Vrogak. If a murder is committed between slaves, the surviving slave will be given to the now slaveless owner as compensation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

- Insults and Boasts -

 

 

 

๏ A guest within the deserts of the Iron Uzg, and slaves of the Iron Uzg, are to be warned a single time of their place, situation and position if an insult is directed to any Uruk. If a guest persists, the guest may be killed immediately, thrown from the plateaus into the water, dragged out of the desert with their legs tied to horses, or taken as a slave. If a slave persists, the insulted must first notify the owner of the grievance, before demanding satisfaction or acting on it, in the same forms as the guest. The owner of the slave is obligated to cooperate, as it was them who had not adequately broken the slave. 

 

 

 

๏ An Uruk of lower rank will be warned a single time of their place, situation and position if an insult is directed to one of higher rank. If the Uruk persists, the insulted must first klomp their foe with either bare fists or stone weapons. Upon victory, they will be obligated to seek satisfaction in non-lethal manners. Throwing the lower Uruk from the plateaus into the water, marking them in pink and purple dyes, or staining their tusks with black ink are all acceptable and temporary methods for symbolizing their newly acquired shame. If the lower Uruk wins their klomp, they will be expected to adhere to the code of boasts.

 

 

 

๏ Any klomp within the Iron Uzg permits the victor to boast about their triumph over their opponent. A boast may only be made if evidence in the form of trophies or witnesses can be produced upon demand. In the matter of slain monsters, an Uruk may only boast if it was them that delivered the killing blow, or the one who delivered the killing blow permitted them to be included in the story. Slain monsters may be boasted about for eternity. In the matter of klomps between Uruks and other Uruks, or guests of the Iron Uzg, boasts may only be made of the klomp for a year afterward. If a boast is made afterwards, any Uruk may insult the boaster for living too far in the past, without worrying of action against them. The boaster is obligated to accept the insults out of honor, and understand they are an idiot.

 

 

 

- Visiting foreign lands -

 

 

 

๏ If an Uruk is not in a raid, and is simply wandering outside of the Iron Uzg by their own volition, they will be expected to conduct themselves honorably and respectfully as guests within a friendly territory. If they are within enemy territory, they will be expected to return to the Iron Uzg and join the next raiding party to there.

 

 

 

๏ An Uruk may not claim a slave within the walls of a city they have been peacefully permitted into.

 

 

 

๏ An Uruk may not murder a foreigner within their own walls unless physically attacked without any provocation. 

 

 

 

๏ An Uruk, if attacked, is to return to the Iron Uzg and present their grievance with the Rex. If the Rex finds the Uruk to have been wronged, and not an idiot, a raiding party will be assembled and lead to the foreign lands to demand satisfaction. No other Uruk may demand satisfaction on behalf of their brethren in foreign lands.

 

 

 

- Receiving Foreign Guests -

 

 

 

๏ If a foreigner approaches the gates of the Iron Uzg, any Uruk or honorary Uruk may demand to know why they are there.

 

 

 

๏ If a foreigner or group of foreigners come to the gates openly armed and armored, weapons drawn, the warhorns are to be blown and the Krughai assembled by discretion of those witness. Entrance will be permitted upon their disarming, if they refuse, they are to be killed or driven back.

 

 

 

๏ A foreigner is not to be harmed if they come bearing tribute to the Rex, this does not apply if insults have been directed to any Uruk or honorary Uruk, and ample warning has been given of their place.

 

 

 

๏ A foreigner claiming to be within the Iron Uzg on diplomacy, is not to be harmed under any circumstances prior to meeting with the Rex. If they come with tribute, they are not to be bothered any further beyond the initial line of questioning. If they come without tribute, they are to be escorted immediately to the Rex. Illegitimate diplomats upon declaration by the Rex, will be held to the whims of the Uruk that discovered them, as that Uruk's reward.

 

 

 

 

-Da Blah-

Da Blah, or The Blah or simply, Blah, is the language of the Orcs. It is derived from an ancient tongue, known as Old Blah. However, Old Blah has been lost to time, with only a few Orcs remaining that know how to speak it. As such, Da Blah is a bastardized version of Old Blah, incorporating practical words from it like ‘you, me, kill,’ etc. and mixing it in with common words. Because of an Orc’s tusks though, Orcs are typically incapable of speaking perfect common ie: “Hail sir, what is your name?”. As a result their speech is very gutteral, eg; “Ug bruddah, wot iz latz name?”

Firstly I will say that, yes, Da Blah can be daunting to bubbling new Orcs, but I can not stress it enough, it is not difficult to learn. But I know it will still turn some people away, but precautions have been put in place. In the past, if you were an Orc who didn’t speak Da Blah, you would be considered Whitewash (Find out what a Whitewash is in the Side note to Honouraries and Whitewashes section,) however this is no longer the case. You are allowed to speak common when you first start, but it is sort of expected that you at least try to pick up the language. I will first link you to the dictionary, then provide some tips as to how to speak it, then show some examples.

Some tips for speaking Da Blah,

-Spell everything phonetically ie; how it sounds. (Connection=Konnektshun)

-Replace S’s with Z’s (Whats=Wotz)-Replace ‘ve’ suffixes with ‘b’ (Have=Hab)

-When referring to individuals, use ‘is’ instead of ‘are’ (Are you coming?=Iz lat komin?)

-Replace the word ‘the’ with ‘da’ (The man is weak=Da man iz week)

-Incorporate Blah words when applicable, and use phonetically spelled common for everything else, keeping in mind the way I speak Blah is quite thick, some examples of this are;

“Oi! Who the f*ck are you?!” “Oi! Who da skah iz lat?!”

“My axe is bigger and better then yours.” “Mi luzk iz bigga agh more bub’hozh den latz.”

“I’ll kill you if you try to hurt my friend.” “Mi will flat lat if lat triez tu hurt mi bruddah.”

“I’ve been walking the desert for twenty years, and never have I seen an Elf as fat as you.” “Mi hab been walkin da desert foh dubety yearz, agh nevah hab ah peeped ahn Albai az fat az lat.”

-How to RP an Orc-

Ok, we’ve covered some basics, now its time for me to open a can of whoop ass on ignorance and drop some knowledge about how to RP an Orc. As an overview, the fact of the matter is, Orc’s were cursed with bloodlust, so you are going to be aggressive. However, it doesn’t stop there. Whilst Orc’s have to have that sense of aggression, they are not utterly bound by it. You can be an angry, racist brute, or you can be a more mellow, wise and diplomatic Orc. It is all about finding your play style. Once you have decided how you want your character to be, you now join the ever growing story of the Orc Race, and the sever as a whole. What does this mean? Well when you read a novel, we’ll look at the main character as an example, are they unchanged and overall the exact same person they were on the first page in comparison to the last page? No. Character development ladies and gentlemen I cannot stress this enough. Being a generic grunt is all well and good, but I mean come on, show some diversity. I will use my character Kahn as an example to show his development.

When Kahn was born he was basically told that he was the one who was going to rebuild his clan, and was constantly pressured into being a great leader. He shyed away from this, not wanting the power, nor responsibility. He didn’t want anything to do with his, at the time broken clan, so he and his younger brothers left and traveled to the Orc Nation, because at the time his family was living away in solitude. Seeing a broken shadow of his kin, because the Orcs were in shambles, Kahn left, and he and his brothers became soldiers of fortune. Kahn was basically running away from the idea that he had to be a ‘great leader’, and was apparently destined to do so. Things go south resulting in great loss, turn of events happen and Kahn finally accepts who he is and what he is destined to do, rebuilding his clan. He then takes his clan to heights it has never seen, but then a crisis hits the Orcs which results in most Orcs disappearing and leaving which leaves Kahn incredibly bitter and angry. However, Kahn soon realizes or believes that his destiny was not to just rebuild his clan, but the Orcs as a whole, and he ascends to Rexdom.

So in that all over the place, brief paragraph of my characters life, he starts out as an angry young Orc who doesn’t want responsibility, becomes a quite proud and prideful Warlord, but is then haunted again by that anger when the Orc exodus takes place, but manages to use it to his advantage as a drive to help his people. May be a bit hard to grasp and far fetched for the average Orc to achieve, but the average Orc can have more of a story than “Hates foreigners and has sworn to kill all pinkskins.” So after a long diversion I return to my point, develop and grow your character.

-What not to do-

You have seen what to do when RPing an Orc, now its time for what not to do. Its common sense but you would be surprised how many people still do all this stuff. Three main points.

Trolling:

Do not troll, or meme, or anything like that. Take it seriously, and you will be taken seriously. Trolling gives Orcs a bad reputation, and it will not be tolerated.

Being an OOC *****:

This means bringing OOC into RP. I don’t care how you OOCly view the player, youre characters are interacting, not you two people. Keep OOC and RP separate, and do not spam the chat with OOC flaming.

PVP whoring:

PVP is a big part of Orc society. But this is an RP server. If someone wants to emote fight, you emote fight. Do not go around PVP defaulting people and what not, actually RP. And do not live for PVP so when we are in peace time you just mope and complain that you are bored, actually RP.

If everyone works together, putting other peoples fun as the first priority we would get on fine and this section of the guide would not be needed. But, unfortunately, it is needed. If you want to enjoy being an Orc, do not do what is listed above. Rulg.

-Shamanism-

As I have said many times throughout the guide, there is more to Orcs than just klomping. Shamanism, and subsequently spirituality is an important and fascinating aspect of Orc RP. With that being said, I will say if you wish to become a Shaman, pick the field you wish to study and seek out a experienced Orc who practices that particular art, they should be willing to take on a student. Be for warned however, it is not easy to become a Shaman. It takes weeks, months even. So be prepared that if it is something you see your character doing, it is going to take commitment. -The Government-

The Orcish government is led by the Rex, which is the Orcish word for King. He is in charge of all matters regarding the Iron Uzg. However, there are ranks which act as ministers of certain aspects of Orcish society, like the economy, hunting, food etc. This information can be found in the link above.

-The Krughai-

The Krughai is the military force of the Iron Uzg. All Orcs, Uruks, Ologs and Gobos alike are expected to fight and serve in its ranks.

-The first three ranks (Runt, Grunt, Bezerker) may only be ascended by promotions given out by superiors.

-A Bezerker may challenge a Nob to a klomp for the title. If the Bezerker wins, he takes the rank. If the Nob wins, the Bezerker is at his will.

-A Nob may challenge a Warboss to a klomp for the title. If the Nob wins, he takes the rank. If the Warboss wins, the Nob is at his will.

-Targoths can only be assigned by the Rex, the position is unchallengeable. This is to prevent incapable Orcs being commanders of the military.

-Clans and why you should join them-

-Chieftain: The new, unblooded clans

-Warchief: Middle tier clans who have proved their worth

-Wargoth: The most powerful and prestigious clans

Clanless Orcs do not get far. Being in a clan gives you guaranteed support in crisis, it gives you a home and a place, as well as food, armour and weapons. You become legitimate family with your clan brothers and sisters, who are obligated to help you, and you them. The current clans are,

If you are thinking about joining one of these clans, I will outline the typical traits that they each hold, to see which one your character will best fit within.

Braduk-A strict warrior clan, they are the biggest Orcs in the Uzg. They are aggressive, yet many have an excellent mind for stratergy. (If you are a warrior, join Braduk)

Gorkil-A well rounded clan, the Gorkils embody every aspect of Orcish society, and are produce extremely capable leaders. (If you want to be able to delve in everything, join Gorkil)

Lur-Leaner than most Orcs, Lurs are a hunter clan. They tend to be very cool headed and work well under pressure. (If you are a hunter, join Lur)

Raguk-Red Orcs, the Raguk clan is a clan of excellent miners and smithers who are always well armed. (If you are a miner/smither, join Raguk)

Yar-Wise diplomatic Orcs and Shamans, the Yars are a clan who hold intelligence in higher revere than pure physical strength. (If you are a Shaman, join Yar)

Zhul-Grey Orcs, the Zhuls are smaller than most Orcs, but make up for this with their agility. (If you are on the smaller side, join Zhul)

Orc Love. What is it, how do we do it, why do we do it.

Well, Orcish Courtship is much, much different than any other type on the server. Orc’s don’t really care about your physical appearance, nor do they care about beauty. Strength is the key aspect Orcs look for in their partners, which are referred to as ‘mates’. Also, Orcs show affection differently. Their love is often brutal, it is not uncommon for mates to beat eachother until one passes out; this may seem odd, but a punch to the jaw is an Orc’s way of saying “I like like you”. Moreover, as Orcish society holds both Males and Females (known as Ferocs) as equal, one should not be surprised when a male strikes his mate for getting out of line, or when a female goes for her mate’s jewels if he is being disrespectful. To summarize, they beat eachother, but it is a sign of affection.

Tenderness is not unheard of amongst Orc’s, but it is typically kept in the privacy of the two’s home, but things like kissing and hand holding aren’t exactly practiced. Gentle physical contact is about as tender as Orc romance gets.

To simplify, there are three stages to the average Orcish relationship.

Meeting:

When an Orc and a Feroc meet. This is typically hostile as they seek to test the other’s strength so they will produce the most valiant children (known as ‘cubs’). Throughout this period, routine challenging, klomping and the hurling of insults will ensue.

Mating:

Once the two have taken a liking to eachother, and view eachother as strong and worth their time. So, they will mate. When Orc’s are mates, there is no official commitment there. They can choose to mate as many times as they want, or they can mate once and go their separate ways. An Orc can have more than one mate at a time, because at this stage it is purely about making babies.

Lifemateship:

A holy pact, taken before Krug. When two mates choose to become Lifemates, it is because they care for one and other, and view eachother as the strongest partners in the Uzg. It is not a right to take lightly, as it is for life, and you are bound to your Lifemate, forbidden to mate with another.

To quote Urara, ‘Mates’ are like boyfriends and girlfriends (except you can have multiple), ‘Lifemates’ are husband and wife, but divorce is not an option.

In regards to inter-species courtship, breeding is strictly prohibited, and is viewed as an abomination to Krug. However, simply mating with non-Orcs is frowned upon, but if you K.O anyone who questions you, well they’ll just have to suck it up.

-Paying your dues-

It is an unwritten rule of the Orcs, both IC and OOC. If you want respect, you’ve got to pay your dues. This means, you are going to start from the bottom, that’s life. Don’t over step, don’t over reach, realize you are the lowest of the low, and build up. Every Orc in a high position has paid their dues, ICly and OOCly, they have earned their title. A sure fire way to piss them off is to be a Runt and bark orders at them or disobey because you think you are above them. Listen to your superiors, take the hard slog and accept you’re at the bottom, and work to contribute. Climbing the ranks isn’t easy, you are handed anything, you’ve got to work for it. Everybody has got to start somewhere, and I will tell you from personal experience, when you are respectful to your superiors you get further because they will be more willing to help you.

Whilst a lot of Orc RP may come across as complex, daunting and intimidating, we are a bunch of chilled guys who are excited to have new people join us. We are a friendly community, so don’t shy away.

The fact that Orcs are utterly badarse death machines doesn’t hurt as well.

As an Orcish RPer, I’ve noticed that a lot of people struggle understanding and implementing the blah into their RPer, so I figured I’d just write a guide for those players who are attempting to understand an orcish RPer or attempting to speak the blah as a new Orc. So, this will be a very short, simple post because the blah is actually a lot simpler than people think!

Step 1: Read the wiki page
The wiki page contains plenty of helpful information about the blah such as certain words, helpful tips and the like. While certain words aren’t used any more (for example, no one says ‘dabu’), it gives a good sense of the meaning of the words that are used. https://wikia.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Blah

Reading the page, you can begin to make basic sentences like this sentence, which will be sued as an example for the rest of the guide. “Mi gruk how to blah the blah a little bit hosher now that mi have peeped the page.”

Step 2: Use certain letters instead of others

An integral part of speaking the blah is replacing certain letters you’d use typing normally with others or other sets of letters. S’s are often replaced with z’s, c’s with k’s, u’s instead of o’s (in words like ‘Rexdom, whenever its making the ‘uh’ sound), iy instead of ie, ay instead of ei, ee instead of ea, ur instead of er, two k’s instead of ck, and d instead of t when its at the end of a word (as long as it still makes sense). There are other nicher parts that you will learn with prolonged RP with orcs.

Continuing with the example from the previous step, we can transform that into “Mi gruk huw tu blah thuh blah a little bid hozhur now.”

Step 3: Use certain words and technically incorrect grammatical phrases.

Another important part of Blah is the fact that it is not always grammatically correct or spelled correctly, though it is still determinable from its original form. An example of this is using the word ‘duh’ or ‘dah’ instead of ‘the’, ‘liddul’ instead of ‘little’, and other examples that, knowing what you know about what letters to use, make sense with the sound of the word when melded with the general sound of blah. Additionally, the use of ‘am’ instead of many other comparable words can cause sentences to buckle a little bit under the normal rules of grammar. (Dat am nub’hosh, wi am ztrungur dehn lat). However, with this final step, we can turn that sentence into something you’d likely see an orc say: “Mi gruk huw tu blah dah blah ah liddul bid hozhur nuw.”

And that’s it. Hopefully this helps you understand blah just a little bit more, and happy RPing!

So, you’ve decided to build a halfling burrow, but you, unlike most other halflings, want to go the extra mile and prove that you’ve worked hard to make this burrow of yours. In this case, we’ll be making a burrow while emoting every step of its construction (And by we, I mean you).

First thing first, you’ll need trees. Lot’s of trees, preferably.

A tree like this one will do just fine, Let’s get chopping!

Now that you’ve cut down the tree, you’ll need to size it properly by using a saw

Attach the log to whatever animals, family members, or other sources of labor you may be using. In this case, we’re using pigs. Now you can haul these logs to wherever they will be stored.

Now that you have the logs needed to make your burrow, start digging out the floor for your burrow, and don’t forget to pile the dirt you’re digging up close to the spot of your burrow. You’ll need that dirt later.

Start dragging your logs into position so that they stand upright in the ground.

Take some small log sections and create a ring around your burrow site with them, digging out dirt to make room for them wherever it’s needed.

You now have the foundation for your burrow! But we still need to make walls and a roof!

(And a floor, unless you like dirt floors for some reason)

Take the dirt that you dug up earlier, and start burying your construction underneath it. You’ll probably need more dirt that what you just dug up to create your burrow.

You’ve done it! You’ve made a burrow! And it only took you two months to make it! However, you probably want to furnish and decorate your burrow, unless you like sleeping on the cold hard floor.

There is no greater endeavor than making a Snow Elf. "Why?", you may ask yourself in a somewhat angry whisper, ready to post your grievances with 2013-2016's voted #1 Most Cancerous Culture on LotC, and 2017's Most Cancerous Subrace. Well, it should be obvious.

I wrote the lore.

APPEARANCE

The first and most important issue, I think, when creating a new Snow Elf is the features. We operate in a very small set of allowed appearances, like High Elves on steroids. Here are a few:

As you can see, there's a common theme here.

They're all white

They all have common features, and a pretty distinct style. Snow Elves are always pale, always white to blonde haired, and always have elf ears. In roleplay, they have very angular facial features, high cheekbones, and are about the height of a modern American. Deviation from this means one of two things - you haven't read this guide, or your character is not a pure Snow Elf (that means, in modern context, has blood mixed with other than Snow or High Elven). Actually, a Snow Elf could be mistaken for a pale looking High Elf on appearance alone.

CULTURE

Generally, Snow Elves follow the culture of the Princedom of Fenn, as while the two are theoretically not bound, they are in practicality. I will, or someone else will, be making a thread on the culture in the near future and linking it here, but the gist is this - the Mali'fenn dislike magic, are painfully proud (but not necessarily condescending), and are very legally progressive. That is to say, as long as you're a Mali'fenn that doesn't really use magic, you'll enjoy all the same rights as everyone but the Grand Prince himself. There are plenty of festivals, plenty of bars and taverns and inns, and a very structured and bureaucratic lifestyle based around the Guilds.

As the Mali'fenn rely on money many times less than their counterparts in other nations, with housing being free of tax in general, to get anywhere in the Princedom one must be in one of the three guilds. The Bilok'thuln handle resource gathering-related work and the economy at large, the Ivae'fenn is the military (often considered Fenn's strong point, with high individual quality but pretty low numbers), and Wyrvun'fiyem, the state religion. 

The two sayings, "thill'al" and "chul o'tilru", mean "achievement of purity" and "to serve is a must" respectively. They sum up what it means, in essence, to be a Snow Elf or to have their mindset. From a young age, these two values shape Mali'fenn so long as they come from a Fennic background. Thill'al has led to the sense of pride when comparing themselves to other races and subraces, and to what they believe is correct in many circumstances. Chul o'tilru has created a working environment almost wholly centered around the government as opposed to privatized investments.

You have the most freedom when it comes to the behavior of your Snow Elf. Kind, empathetic, wroth, lustful, as much as I dislike the last one, almost the entire spectrum except for severe laziness (which is generally 'taught' out of children at an early age) can be found within the Snow Elves. You don't have to be a jerk to other races, nor do you have to like them at all. You can and are encouraged to have your character marry for love rather than any politics. More problematic for you, I think, will be the OOC lines.

THERE ARE RED LINES FOR SNOW ELVES

And here they are:

To breed with a non Snow Elf, you need a roll of 97/100. This is an OOC rule, set by me in the original lore and approved by the staff. To breed at all, you need a 95/100. The Snow Elves are, as of the writing of this post, the only subrace to have an enforced OOC rule to pregnancy, and it won't go away as long as I can keep it here. Elven families are not supposed to be the giant, confusing mess they often are today, and I intend to keep Snow Elves to a certain level in that regard.

Snow Elves go crazy at 650, and the vast majority are under 300. Because of IC events, called the "Seven Purges" if you can find an old enough Snow Elf, there are very few of the older generation left. Even if there are, the imperfection of the cure afforded them often drives them insane at an age nearly 400 years younger than the next.

Magic cannot be learned over a certain limit, though strength is higher in general. You can never learn over 1 main and 3 subtypes, even if you devoted your entire life to it. The upside is that Snow Elves are naturally stronger than the average Elf. This rule is technically a soft limit, but I would say you shouldn't break it.

Seriously don't break the features lines. There is no such thing as a red haired or a tanned Snow Elf and if I see one I will literally purge you.

You’ve all seen them. Probably. Those insufferable little whine boxes that run around cities, screeching at the top of their lungs. You likely look at them and turn the other cheek, hoping they don’t come your way until someone comes along with a heart of pure gold to pluck them off the streets. It happens every day. 

Were you someone not familiar with LoTC, you’d probably think I was talking about some sort of monster or a ghost. But no, I’m talking about children. Now it’s all coming back to you, the Vietnam flashbacks of packs of roaming orphans with edgy backstories, the adults stuck in the bodies of 5-10 year olds, and even the people willing to drop everything in order to pluck a random kid off the street that they met that day to take into their home. For me, I have visions of elvish families with 15 kids. We’ve all had bad experiences with child characters. It’s very difficult to act out the role of a child without coming off as an insufferable little ragamuffin. But with the right pushes, a few changes, and a metric tonne of elbow grease, we can make child characters into something better. Something not to cringe at.

But how can we?

Children as People
    “Writing from the viewpoint of the child does not give us the right to make of our characters what we wish children were – but to consider them as they are.” - Anonymous
  

 As this anonymous person said, consider them as they are. And what are they? They’re simply people, just the same as you or me. The only difference between an adult and a child is that the child has only just been brought into the world. Thus, you must follow the same rules for character development as you do with an adult character.
The key here is perspective.
 I like to think that an adult would make very similar decisions to a child if they knew only what a child knew. We base our choices and live off of what we know, our experiences. A child is just emerging to the world, they lack experiences to guide them. Ideally, adults should be able to guide them through until they’ve created these experiences themselves. In other cases, a child without a guide is like a lost lamb. They make erratic choices, spun still from what they know. They’ll be lost, frustrated even.
Do not mistake ignorance for stupidity, mind you. As people, we are still ignorant of many things that still await us, but we’re not stupid (By our own standards at least). Nor are children. It is important to roleplay your character’s level of understanding properly because if you don’t, it can lead to unnecessarily dumb characters (Unless that is your character’s trait, but that applies to any character, child or not child.)

Children are Cement
“Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression.” - Dr. Haim Ginott
 

The mind of a child, as Dr. Haim puts it, is much like wet cement or clay. It’s very easy to leave a lasting impression once it’s been impacted by the outside world. And after such, it’s very hard to reverse the impact, or rather to smooth out the clay, especially if it’s been left alone long enough to dry. In order to make your child characters come to life, they must act like cement. 
How can you bring this into your roleplay? Well, your character needs to be easily molded as well, taking in every experience that happens to them. Everything holds great sway in a child’s mind, that’s often why children seem to blow things out of proportion. To them, the smallest tasks can seem daunting, and events in our lives that seem small and insignificant mean the world to them.  Pay close attention to whatever happens to your characters, and get creative! As the creator, pick and choose what your character really takes in, and don’t be afraid to have your character be taken down a path different from the one you chose. After all, cement is usually made to be a foundation to build from.

Hey, Hearts of Gold!
People very severely underestimate the attention you need to give a child. They need to be taken care of most of the hours of the day and raised to be a decent member of society. At least that’s how it usually is supposed to be. In the real world, people often take years to decide if they need a child. They’re a massive physical, mental, and economic toll to any family. This holds even more true in a medieval society, where the world is much harsher and colder to the weak.
Which is why it physically pains me when people just go around and pick up orphans off the streets to bring them into their homes. It usually takes months of preparation and planning before you even think about adoption, and even more time before you actually do. Bringing in 5 random ass urchins into your home is a really unrealistic move. But that’s just my opinion.

Do’s and Dont’s; Tips and Tricks

• Find someone who needs a child character played, or ask someone to make their parents. Please, just do it. At this point, we could make a nation with the sheer number of little orphans running around.
• Something I’ve learned from the time I’ve spent with many of my little cousins. Children are honest, painfully so. If they don’t like you, you’ll know it. Everyone else will too. Children pay little attention to courtesy and they won’t sugar coat anything they say until they’re taught otherwise. 
• Naive and stupid are not interchangeable. You can be smart, without having experienced enough to make a proper judgment. And you can be stupid, but have experienced a lot. They are two entirely separate concepts.
• Dialogue: You’re going to make mistakes here. The key is to find a nice balance between making your character speak maturely, and not mature enough. Do your research here, see how some authors approach writing children, pay attention to how they use their words.
• Make sure you DEVELOP. Most of the development in our lives happens when we’re children, make that apparent in your roleplay. Show the cogs of the mind turning in your characters heads, it will only ever add to the experience. Write out those connections they’re making.
• Have fun with it! Experiment! Make mistakes, learn. You’ll only get better over time ^^

Children of Krug, Uruks - Enormous outraged beasts whom well known for their strength and bloodlust. However, some of the bloodlines have preferred an intellect instead of gargantuan strength. The Goblins of Krug, lanky beasts who prefer brain over brawn looked to massive war machines and complex devices to counter their lack of muscle.

Goblins, or Gobbos, live in harmony of their grumpy being, throwing their efforts together to achieve the success. Where is the Peace, there is a War, Gobbos are not built to fight themselves but by using the Warmachines created by them, but when it comes to battle, they have to protect themselves as any living creature must. Unlike Uruks, their smaller brothers can not combat alone, they prefer to stick in small groups of three to six goblins. A phenomenon known as ‘Orcish Bloodrage’ is triggered by receiving pain, it helps warriors resist further pain and serious injury which could threaten their life, at the same time, they can not control their current blood loss, which may cause their death. However, the Goblin Bloodrage works a little differently to that, and its success depends on the number of goblin groups. The Gobbo gets triggered by pain, their eyes become red, and instead of attacking the enemy they start biting their comrades, sharing their bloodrage with others. After a few moments of hurting each other, the Swarm of bloodraged Goblins becomes an unstoppable hurricane of sharp teeth and claws, inflicting dozens of minor blows to their opponents, bringing them down with the sheer number of wounds. After they bring their enemies down, they commit the most unexpected process.

The Swarm starts eating their enemy alive...

We have a ton of guides, on character creation, and on how to make orcs, or spirits, or the various aspects of Orc Culture, though often they are scattered to various sections of the forum, or daunting to read and process. Hopefully this is more succinct.

Characterization and Appearance

Orcish characters are often the most unique and complex character due to their difficulty to play properly. Orcs range from 6-8 ft, and range from almost any skin color. They have large tusks, which causes them to speak an accent known as Blah. Rarely, Orcs are granted horns, though they are signs of greatness and power. Goblins range from 4-6 feet, and possess an intense intelligence and wit. Ologs range from 9-11 ft, and possess the most strength and durability of any of the subspecies. They as well have horns, though they mean nothing.Cursed by Iblees for bloodlust, the Orcish Race was originally a band of pillagers and raiders, sieging city with their intense strength and ability to war unhindered by wounds or fear. However, the orcs now struggle with their ability to control the bloodlust, and often leads to a hardened personality and a focus on banding together with ones kin to defend against the storms that face them.

Honor and Strength:

Orcish Honor is not something to be taken lightly, or simply a creed all orcs must follow tooth and nail. Though the law of the Rex and Krugmar act as guidelines, honor is different a majority of orcs, varying on different degrees of severity. A specific orc may take it upon themselves to always uphold their honor, whether it be through a cold demeanor, or remaining chaste in all activities, while many others are jovial, and mischievous. Orcish Strength exists in orcish culture not as simply a means to tower over one’s kin, or to beat them in a klomp, but as a means to be the finest in whatever craft or acts they perform. All skills are accepted within Krugmar, whether it be painting, or martial combat.

The Spirits and Shamanism

The Spirits are something almost all orcs revere and worship. Orcish worship is done in a variety of ways, all made to revere the beings who manipulate and bless the world around them. There is a Spirit for almost every aspect, though not all have been discovered yet. Those who worshiped to the extreme, and pursued a further connection with the Spirits, would be granted the ability to learn shamanism, branching off into five types of magic. Elementalism involves manipulating the elements through a pacted Lesser spirit, while Witchdoctory uses curses made from Immortal and Elemental Spirits. Lutauman and Farseer are similar, though their abilities greatly differ. A Lutauman is able to bring themselves and others to the Ancestral Realm and bless themselves, while a Farseer is granted the ability to bless others and receive visions from the Spirits themselves. In most recent developments, a Shaman Smith uses the blessings of the spirits to enchant weapons,armors,and tools to aid in combat, or simple day to day use.

Culture:

The orcish culture varies depending on the subspecies of Uruk, as the three are seen often performing different tasks and duties of the orcs, and finding leisure in different activities. Though ologs are often perceived as bland and dull, Ologs act as the manual labor and constructors of Krugmar, often seen building and creating their own monuments, to themselves, their favorite food, or something that appeases them. Ologs take pleasure in finding things that interest them, whether it be a rock or something mundane. Orcs and goblins share in similar traits, as their intellect allows them to do almost anything.Often, they are found worshipping their spirits early in the morning and late at night, and practising their craft during the day,visiting the tavern, and smoking, or hunting.

That’s about it. It’s somewhat vague, so if you wish for more topics to be added, or for me to be more specific about certain things, don’t hesitate to ask.

   "I Want to Play an Orc."

Playing an orc may appear to be daunting and difficult task, worse still, due to the scattered timezones of the playerbase, there are few and little times, in which the entire playerbase, or a handful of orcs will be on. New Orc players either see this as an opportunity to raid/kidnap/sacrifice, despite the toxic effect this has on the player, the orcish playerbase, and the community. Though I will discuss the two topics in another post,the point is that new orcs, or even orcs in general should not constantly seek out the need to kill or enslave other races.

Then what is there to do? As a non-orc player, or new player, there is probably little on the wiki to give information, and most are too apathetic to sift through forum posts, and for your sake and my own, I will detail the wondrous experience that is playing an orc.

Many would assume that the orcs of LOTC are identical to their LOTR or WoW counterparts, limiting their roleplay to murder and spirit worship. However, this is further from the truth. An orc is not limited to professions or actions, nor barred from any goals.

All descendant races hold different perspectives on how they should act, and work in this world, both based on their history, and on character. For some reason, the majority of the playerbase(including some orcs) seems to ignore this factor and either play the warrior or spirit worshiping shaman.

Every orc must have character beyond that. It sounds quite simple, but to create an orc character, one's orc must have character. History,goals, and skills flesh out a character,but rather than information on a character sheet, or professions to grind, how do these quirks affect the actions and thoughts of your orc?

Say an air spirit destroys your home, and kills a few of your clansmen. How would your character view the spirits after witnessing them ruin their life? How would they feel towards the elementalists who converse with these spirits and did nothing to stop the disaster? How would they view the spirit of earth, a rival to the spirit of air? What would they do to prevent such a disaster again?

Say you have made an orc of the Lak Clan, an obsessed blacksmith who worships Gentharuz, spirit of smithing,and Jevex, spirit of hard work. What would your orc do in offering to these spirits(not just pinki sacrifices)? How would your orc view the Raguk clan, made of the most dedicated blacksmiths, though holds disdain for the Laks? How would they view Gazigash, a spirit dedicated to crafting bloodsteel, an honor to any orc, more importantly blacksmiths?

As you can see, there are even more options to how a character is shaped by their world, and what possibilities there are for an orc, rather than lame excuses for taking pixels from elves.

However, there are two subspecies of orc; goblin and olog. A goblin is simply a smarter orc, and as such the tips above can be utilized, however the dimwittedness of an olog changes the characterization.

An olog still can have views and goals, though their minds are eternally childlike and simple. Take this into account when playing such a behemoth.  

I hope this elucidates more information on orcish characterization, and although I focused on the spirits too much, any aspect of orc culture can be expanded and shaped in the same way.

What is the point of this and what exactly are you trying to get at with this, you might ask?
Well let's do a bit of compare and contrast.

Orcs of Lord of the Rings

Creation:
Taking a deeper look into the lore and history of Middle-Earth, i've read that Orcs are a race of creatures who are used as soldiers and henchmen by both the greater and lesser villains of The Silmarillion (The History of Middle-Earth). In this series, Orcs tend to be portrayed as dim-witted yet crafty with making war machines and have a love for no things including the masters serve out of fear. Though many have speculated that the Dark Lord and Sauron's master, Morgoth (Melkor), was the first to create this race it has been recorded that evil of Middle-Earth is not capable of independent creation meaning that they couldn't have been born of the Dark Lord. It is also said that before the Elves were found at Cuiviénen they were kidnapped and tortured by Morgoth transforming them into the disaster of an Orc.

Culture:

Though much of the Middle-Earth culture of Orcs is not elaborated on they talk about knowledge of harsh medicines and healing arts Orcs may use one another and though it may be harsh and painful it certainly is effective. It is also read that Orcish weapons and arrows are often lathered in venom and/or poisonous liquids to assure the kill. They also like to sing horrible songs such as the ones the goblins sing in the Misty Mountains, along with inventing horrendous machines to torture and kill things. When Morgoth fell, some Orcs took leadership upon themselves settling themselves in petty Kingdoms of their own. Orcs of Lord of the Craft

Creation:
In the early days of creation, the first man and woman were made to bring life to the lands giving birth to the four descendants Horen, Urguan, Malin, and Krug. After Krug's distrust of Iblees threw him into his fit of rage he revealed himself to the descendants drowning the world in war between the living and the dead. After Iblees was defeated, the descendants split their own ways fathering their own races and children along with teaching their perspectives on life and how it should be lived. Though, they had split ways each had received a curse of their own; Iblees said to Krug as Aenguls and Daemons of the Seven Heavens drew away the darkness of the land  "And you Krug, the most hated of The Descendants, you shall always have the lust of war. You are strong? Well the strength shall be used against your brothers, used to pillage and murder! Your lust for battle shall be unsatiated and your descendants shall grow ugly and heartless.” and with this darkness was finally purged.

As Iblees disappeared, a Robed figure stood in front of the descendants as the curses started to take effect on them. Though they had initially trusted Iblees, pity was given to the descendants granting them blessings. As the robed figure approaches Krug he speaks:
"Krug, may your people show valour and honour where none exist"

Culture:

Though many have speculated Orcs of Lord of the Craft to be dim-witted beasts who love blood shed through either bad role play or bad communication, but through lore and history of the Orcs it has proved otherwise. Orcs are not dumb nor are they really smart like a goblin could be, but what Orcs have that separates them from others is a trustworthy intuition that keeps them away from others due to Orcs knowing not to trust other races other than their brothers of Orcs, Ologs, and Goblins though it may be easy to believe that due to their language of 'Blah'.  The Children of Krug follow after their oldfather in the teachings of the Spirits of the World, as well as being able to communicate with said Spirits through special Orcs known as Shamans, though as Orcs often look for and pay tribute to the Spirits they often provide for their own as they go out on hunts. Through their curse of violence, Orcs have taken Klomp (Combat) as a tradition of their own klomping in celebration, to settle an argument, or even to mate with another Orc. Though many are ignorant of the culture that Orcs have, much of it is divided within the clans individually whom create their own traditions.

Well ye have come to the right place!

This will be a Guide to Orcish Bloodlust, their Curse.

Have fun crushing the skulls of yer enemies with your bare hands!

What happens in 'Bloodlust'?

Esentially, You become absolutely filled with anger.

And no, this does not happen because something stupid like bunch of Oreners surround you, deal with that like an orc.

This happens when one of your closest ones die, when you get betrayed by an Life-Mate.

Something that will change your character, something really Enraging

Use this curse for Character-Development, Not as an OOC tool.

How to roleplay the curse.

There will be a few sections in this part of the guide, so lets get zkah'n started!

Combat!

After something happening that absolutely angers you, you would go into bloodlust.

Do not use this as an Tool, I cannot emphasize on that enough.

You do NOT go and attack the thing that made you angry, your eyes would dwindle on the nearest thing to you.

Let's say you're fighting a titan with your Orcish friends and some dwarves.

Your friend has been killed, what do you do? You attack the Titan I hear some say.

WRONG

When in bloodlust, Everyone, and Yes, EVERYONE around is seen as an Enemy.

Backstabbers.

Killers.

Everything you hate, they have become, at least in your eyes.

You attack an Doomforged Dwarf closest to you, and he retaliates with a stab to your stomache

But you do not care, your only thought is of killing him, at all costs.

Blood spurt everywhere as his sword tears through your stomache, In your anger and adrenaline, you feel no pain.

You keep on attacking, Hacking and slashing.

Soon, Dwarves and Orcs have turned on eachother, with Dwarves impaling you with Spears, you feel no pain, though you start having trouble breathing

Your movements grow weak with all the blood you have lost.

And the only thing calming you down is realizing in what state you are in, that or the orcs reminding you of Good times.

You fall to your knees, You have died.

In my eyes, that is an Perfect example of bloodlust roleplay.

Let's go down a list of what the effects of bloodlust is.

- You feel as if all around you are your enemies.

- You feel no pain, though your body still works the same. You are not Immortal.

- 15 Or so emotes to calm you.

- You attack the closest to you.

- You use alot of energy, as it is common to use all your energy in determination to kill your enemy.

That concludes the combat part, to my knowledge.

Aesthetic

After playing some World of Warcraft, you might imagine an Orc filled with bloodlust might look like the picture above.

Quite the opposite, the Orc's physical limbs stay completely the same.

However, their stance, might completely change, turning more sluggish and rugged.

While for the most part, Bloodlust is frowned upon in Orcish culture, Some clans adapt the 

lifestyle of Using this as a Tool.

Hi, yes, I’m making another one of these. Why? Because when I get bored I like to write to past the time. Also, the last appearance guide I made late at night on my birthday while I was pretty drunk. So without further ado, here is a thread for noobs and old players alike to follow when deciding what their wood elf should look like.

Here we have a fairly typical trio of wood elves, I’ll go further into detail explaining what makes them unique.

Skin

Wood elf skin should most likely fall under this spectrum. You can go a big lighter or bit darker if you want. The key is to not look white. If your character is a pure wood elf, he will have tan to brown skin which is distinctly not caucasian looking. A half-high elf character will have reason to have paler skin, however.

Hair & Eyes

Hair

As seen above, wood elf hair is typically on the darker side. These include dark reds, browns, blacks, and occasionally blonde. Blonde however, is more associated with wood elves with high elf blood in them. The following hair colours are your best bet if you want to make a wood elfy looking wood elf:

• Dark Red

• Coffee Brown

• Auburn

• Black

• Dirty Blonde (if part high elf)

Hair dyes are general frowned upon in wood elf culture, but subtle green dyes are acceptable.

Eyes

Eyes are more varied among the wood elves, and depend more on what Seed you belong to. Caerme’onn, for example, more often will have green eyes. The Tahorrans would have yellow eyes, and Calithils blue. If you belong to no Seed or family at first, then eye colour is at your own discretion. Here are some good choices for you:

• Green (any shade)

• Blue

• Black

• Brown

• Yellow

Note, purple eyes, while possible, are more of a high elf trait. Red eyes are extremely rare in wood elves and I wouldnt recommend making your wood elf red eyed unless he was part dark elf.

Clothes

Wood elves dress fairly conservatively, so you won’t see many flashy, flamboyant colours. A good rule of thumb when deciding what colours to dress your wood elf up is: “Do these colours naturally occur?”

Obviously, greens are the most popular colour to go with, but things like the muted yellows and reds of a sunset are also a good route to go down, or the deep blue of an ocean.

Seed Tattoos/Ilmyumiers

Most likely, your character will end up getting tattoo’ed if they end up joining one of Laureh’lins many seeds, wood elf version of tribes. However, it is also possible to have your character belong to his very own seed! You can simply say you are the only member of a wild, nomadic seed who seeks a life in the big city with the city elves.

A seed needs its own tattoo colour and design, and is usually on specific parts of their body, visible. These tribal tattoos are called ilmyumier. Example follow:

And those are essentially the main points in how to make a lore abiding wood elf. You do not need to follow these to a T, and you may take some creative liberties, especially if your character has blood of other races in them. However, for the most part, these need to be followed in order for your wood elf to be proper looking.

Throughout halfling RP there has often been a term that has been thrown around, called, "Honorary Halflings." This is not a widely common role, but it is achievable in certain standards!

This guide is a goal by Prologued and me to increase halfling RP, and encourage more activity!

Now First off! What is an Honorary halfling?

An honorary halfling is a biggun that has been acknowledged by the humble halfling folk as the closest a biggun can be to a halfling. Normally bigguns are approached with a quirked eyebrow if spotted in the town, the halflings being confused on why they are here if he/she has no business. However, honorary halflings are looked upon not as suspicious bigguns, but nearly one of the halfling community.

Pros of Being an Honorary Halfling!

Unfortunately, you will not receive a burrow from being an honorary. Creating such a large burrow would be nearly an impossible task for halflings... However, listed below are some of the pros you get!

1. A permanent room in the Inn, to come and go as you please!

2. Permission to build in the town (Perms to the region)

3. Permission to work with us like any other halfling. You can bartend, help run the library, help run the Inn, etc.

4. If you have struck us as a great person, you may have a path named after you!

How Do I Become an Honorary Halfling?

Here's the Juicy part, becoming an honorary halfling.

Unlike Honorary orcs, the role doesn't take too much discipline to obtain, or any specific tasks in general. However, the biggun must follow certain guidelines within his/her life. Halflings have values called, "Being proper" and if someone wishes to be an honorary halfling, they must follow these values alongside half folk. 

If you want to call yourself proper, and be an honorary halfling, you must:

1. Not use any locks, be trustworthy to your neighbors, locks proves your distrust!

2. Don't argue with fellow Townsmen, we all need to love each other!

3. Stealing from halflings is strongly forbidden, however stealing from bigguns is not frowned upon.

4. No purposely engaging in violence, unless your life is on edge, always talk it out.

5. We usually don't use Swords, and shovels as our main for of self-defense. This is encouraged, but we understand if bigguns don't follow it. However, they must use a shovel inside the village.

6. You must be a frequent visitor of the village and get to know us, you will not be considered if the majority do not know who you are.

If you can follow all these things then voila! You’re on your way to being a cheerful, fun-loving member of the happiest race in Vailor, just a lil' bit taller.

Goblin; Sub-race of Orc.

Introductory;

Hello there, and welcome to my guide to making a goblin.

I write this with the intention of assisting you in joining the fun and unique roleplay experience, with a very friendly player-base to match.

Before you go on, allow me to debunk a couple misconceptions;

Goblins are not dainty and weak creatures, despite them being less powerful than their uruk cousins, they are often stronger than their Human counterparts. They are also capable of great feats of strength and intense combat prowess.

Goblins are not the same size of a dwarf, or a halfling, they aren’t usually smaller than a human and their shape is (on average) similarly built to a human with a more muscular physique to to their environment.

Goblins are good tinkerers and love precious items, but not to the extent that is thoughts and not every goblin shows these traits. Each one is different, and unique, in their own way and so should you be, if you wish it.

Appearance;

Goblins are the smallest of the three orc sub-races; in both height and girth.

Your average goblin can have a height anywhere from five feet to six feet tall, very rare cases of reaching near seven feet but never exceeding that. Their girth is quite slimmer than their uruk cousins, though are still common place to have a muscular physique.

A goblin’s skin colour is heavily reliant upon several key factors; heritage, environment and clan culture. The most common would be green, though it is not uncommon to have; red, grey or a gentle blue hue. While their eye’s are more commonly darker colours of browns, greens and reds, though is not uncommon to have blues and lighter shades.

Clothing for a goblin is simply ragged clothing of a design the one wearing it feels comfortable in, while they tend to go with simplistic clothing out of pure comfort level, it is not uncommon for a goblin to wear something that is more appeasing to their eye.

Culture;

While the goblins live among their kinship and share their culture of the spirits, laws of the Rexdom and the ideology of ‘Might is Right’, goblins tend to have a few extra key pieces that make them somewhat unique.

Due to their more intelligent nature, goblins tend to utilize their minds much more than their uruk cousins and would seek to try and talk their way into, or out of, a situation happening but is not against fighting when needed, as they still succumb to their bloodrage.

When it comes to shamanism and the spirits, goblins are still devouts through and through, some goblins are known to be aspiring shamans due to their more intellectual attitude and most tend to give honour to their ancestral spirit; Tukki, the goblin uniter.

As the populace of the goblins tends to be lower than the rest, they form a quick bond with their brethren and tend to live in more cramped locations among their kin whilst at their homestead. Most commonly in; caverns, caves, sewers, etc.

While it’s known that goblin’s tusks are less invasive on their speech, thus giving them a much easier time to speak more simplified versions of blah, they still actively speak in blah as it is ingrained at a young age due to culture.

Dark Elves (also known as Mali’ker)

Physical Appearance

Dark Elves are the most muscular sub-race out of the three and as such are the best suited for physical labour and combat (as a note, this does not give you the right to be unrealistically strong, it is just that the other Elven sub-races are not as hardy as this sub-race). Mali’ker may be the strongest but are by no means the tallest with Dark Elves averaging around 5’10 to 6’4 in height (any taller than this and it you are reaching into High Elf territory and they’re called High Elves for a reason so, please, stick to these guidelines).
