The Duke of Reinmar plucked another petal from the rose in his office. Only one remained now.

"Soldiers follow orders, that's what they enlist and are trained for." Grumbled the Marshal of Haense, "If the King gives a command, that command is followed! Death to those who wont, aye?" He'd bang his fist to the table once, then expectantly raising his gaze just to be met by a empty office.

Johann gently took off one of the three petals from the rose in his office. Now only two remained, and the Duke imagined them green and blue.

Why?

[!] A year from now, the Duke of Reinmar would kneel before a gravestone, next to the rose fields of his home. The aged man took out a picture and a candle, lighting it up while singing quietly to himself, alone.

A GRAND PASSING.
Dungrimm awaits those who die with honor.
It was a normal day for Kronk ‘The Grand’ Stormheart before the dreaded expedition that had gone horribly wrong. A small meeting with the King of Norland, discussing possible joint military trainings. A meeting with his friend Johann Barclay, the Lord Marshal of Haense. It had been a nice day, but it was about to take a turn for the worse.
Kronk ‘The Grand’ Stormheart set out with his dwarven brethren towards the void. As usual, Kronk was right at the front guarding his squad and the mages that stood behind him. They entered and the effects of the Void were immediately clear, mana overflowing and the ground beneath their feet constantly changing. The air conveyed a feeling of dread, and it became harder to breathe. Yet even with these circumstances the combined force of dwarves and mages pushed on. “DONNAEH WORREH LADS, DUNGRIMM GUIDES US TES DAY!” Kronk shouted out to his companions, a grin forming on his face. As they neared the cliffs, a thunderous roar could be heard and a beastly figure appeared in the sky. “ET BEH AH DRAGON!” One of the dwarves shouted. “WEH SHALL KILL ET TEN!” Kronk retorted with his trademark confidence and vigour, yet this beast was unlike anything he’d ever seen before. A massive three-headed beast that could incinerate a man with one breath. Kronk’s focus was set on nothing else but to slay the beast, a task impossible for the equipment they had.
And then it struck. Kronk was lucky to have been missed by the first hit. The reality struck in as his friend, Balor’s arm was incinerated straight off. “SHIELD WALL ENFRONT OF TAEH MAGES!” The Marshal shouted out as they did so. But it was too late, little did Kronk know the dragon had its sights fully set on him. BANG! The lightning struck right to his side, sending the Marshal flying further down the cliff into the hard rock wall. “OOOMFFF!” Kronk groaned out as his back snapped, paralyzing the dwarf to only being able to crawl. “WE’REH NAEH LEAVIN’ YEH BEHOIND!” Two of his fellow dwarves, Gwydion and Barundin Ireheart shouted out as they went to assist the Marshal, carrying him away from the battle.
Before they got far the massive three-headed dragon landed right in front of them, charging up its lightning breath once more.
Kronk hastily tried to shield his fellow dwarves with his enchanted shield, but fate would not have it that day. The wall grew behind them as the three dwarves, Kronk, Gwydion and Barundin grinned wide once more.
“DUNGRIMM HAS CHOSEN MEH TOH TRAVEL TOH HIM TES DAY! MAY OI DRINK ALE AN’ FOIGHT MOI BATTLES TEREH!” Kronk exclaimed as the lightning reached him. “NARVAK. OZ. URGUAAAAAAAAAAANNN!” The Grand Marshal announced with a last defiant breath as he was turned into ash.
As Kronk died he thought of all his family and friends, Ranna, his loving fiancee and his kids. Hieran, a friend he had never been able to spend time with due to the constant war with Oren. The Legion he left behind, and his officers that waged every battle with him. Uruan Stormheart, his ever supporting father and greatest influence. Mica Goldhand, his loving aunt. Sionnach, his everlasting friend to whom he had promised they would die together. Ulfric Frostbeard, the old King of Urguan that had trusted him with the position of Marshal. Edward Thuri-Elendil, his Templar friend. And many more.
[!] A small book could be found in a drawer of the Grand Marshal’s desk.
“If you read this it's too late for me, for I have found my place with Dungrimm. I, Kronk ‘The Grand’ Stormheart have died. To my clan, I love you all to the fullest extent, and I apologize for going. To my dad, i am so incredibly sorry for the pain and sorrow you must be in. But I want you to know, I am the happiest son that ever lived because you showed me all the things i know. I am not much of a writer, but don't let my death get to you. And to my Legion. Don’t worry as I am sure there will be a great Grand Marshal after me, so is the way of Urguan. Treat them with utmost respect and vigour that you lads are capable of. I don't need a funeral. I just need Norli to cement me as an Urguani hero, that scheming bastard."
Narvak oz Urguan, Kronk ‘The Grand’ Stormheart.
Thanks to everyone who i roleplayed with on Kronk, i had a blast playing him.

Johann Barclay took a moment to reflect, as the man he had tried to capture within the walls of Ebonwood and who had in turn tried to kill him at the fields of Reinmar, now stood with him at Karosgrad's military district.
At least they could have tea, now..

Heyo!
I'd suggest trying out the Northern Geographical Society, based on both the Kingdom of Haense and the Holy Orenian Empire. Its basically a group of scholars, explorers, scientists, and all that. There's recently been a recruitment drive for the Haeseni branch by @Chris (Acaele), and I'd heavily recommend trying it out, either in Haense or Oren, seems to be something that'd fit your character pretty nicely!
Here's a post for it, and the NGS Discord, if you wanna give it a shot.

KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM
Issued by the
LORD MARSHAL
On this 6th day of Gronna ag Droba of 420 ES
VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK
By the official decree of the Lord Marshal of Hanseti-Ruska, the following changes are hereby announced to the Officer Core, positions and rankings of the Brotherhood of St. Karl.
THE DISMANTLING OF THE CURRENT OFFICER CORPS
The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska shall eternally be grateful to all those who put themselves out above their Brothers and Sisters in arms, and have grasped for the mantle of leadership. But as time goes on, fresh blood and fresh ideas are needed to accommodate for the ever-growing ranks of our Brotherhood.
Thus, after a discussion with the current officer corps, the following is decreed;
Ser Flemius is to by his own will retire from his position as Captain, after a tenure spanning nearly 30 years.
Ser Viktor Baruch is to by his own will retire from his position as Sergeant and Quartermaster, after a tenure spanning nearly 20 years.
Edmund Barclay is to by his own will retire from his position as Sergeant, after a tenure spanning nearly 15 years.
Ser Reinhardt Barclay is to by his own will retire from his position as Sergeant, after a tenure spanning nearly 25 years.
They are all to remain with the highest rank-of-foot, Armiger. In addition, for their service, they’re all to be granted the Golden Crow of Valour, the highest of Haeseni military honors. I, as well as all our Brothers and Sisters shall be forever grateful to you for your tenure leading His Majesty’s Brotherhood of St. Karl
The 2nd Officer Corps of the 3rd Brotherhood of St. Karl
As old, experienced blood steps down, must new, fresh but yet inexperienced blood come to their place.
The following shall take up the mantle of leadership, and serve as officers of the Brotherhood.
Lieutenant, Dame Tavisha Morovar
Lieutenant, Ser Walton
Sergeant, Ser Emil Barclay
In addition, to ensure that a new generation of Officers are always well taught and capable, the Officer Cadets will be reinstated - while not changing their current rank, these Cadets will be consisting of those lower ranked soldiers, who wish to one day join His Majesty’s Officer Corps.
The following are thus named to become Officer Cadets, and shall be tutored and tried by the current Officers and the Lord Marshal.
Officer Cadet, Armsman Argus Romstun
Officer Cadet, Armsman Cole Cadian
Officer Cadet, Armsman Levy
Officer Cadet, Armiger Loarmir Halfhorde
PROMOTIONS
The following changes are made to the roster of His Majesty’s Brotherhood of St. Karl;

Mikhail Ruthern, Clearon Steelguard, Nina Svetlana Morovar, Borris Kortrevich, Georgina Barclay, Lorenz Darkwood, Hickory and Markus Morovar have sworn their Oaths before the Statue of St. Karl, and shall be Oathed to the Brotherhood.
APPOINTMENTS
The Brotherhood has many specialized positions, which have until now gone largely ignored. To fix this apparent wrong, the following positions shall from now on carry a person behind them, to bring further glory for the BSK.
The battle-bard
The battle-bard is someone versed in the art of poetry, music or writing. Their task is simple; to guard the legacy of the Brotherhood and memorize it in song or text. Along with this, they are the one tasked with the upkeep of the Black banner, which houses the history of the BSK.
For this position, I see fit to appoint His Lordship, Borris Kortrevich, who shall from now on act as the Battle-Bard of the Brotherhood of St. Karl.
The Standard-bearer
The position of Standard-bearer is one of great honor, for it is them only who are allowed to carry the Brotherhood’s banner into the field of battle. Usually there has been only one, but now I see it fit to appoint two for such duty.
Ser August Barclay is thus appointed to carry the Kongzem’s colors on the field of battle, and likewise will Ludwig Junker be appointed to carry the Brotherhood’s banner to battle.

THE SUTICAN COMMEMORATION
Issued by the
HOUSE OF BARCLAY
On this 1st day of Vyzmey ag Hynk of 420 ES
AN ALLE REICHE UND VÖLKER DIESER WELT,
The House of Barclay is not one of only men. While other Houses have seen fit to delegate specific roles to their men and their women, those of House Barclay have always trained, fought, hunted, and grown together. From this house have grown the finest Dames of this Kingdom, the first Alderwoman, as well as the first Lady Palatine. Which brings us to today, where I wish to commemorate those who have recently given much to our House, yet gone unrecognised.
To my wife,
You have come to this House as naught but a stranger, a newcomer to a family to which yours has historically been opposed. Yet, during the twenty-five years of which you have been the consort of House Barclay, you have proven yourself to be invaluable. You have planned and hosted countless events, written many missives on my behalf, all while dutifully raising our children.
For the contributions of past and future, I wish to thank you. Thus, I hereby decree that you be elevated from the Princess-Consort of Sutica, to Princess Georgina of Sutica.
Let it be known that this decree holds no effect on the Sutican Inheritance, which shall remain unchanged. His Princely Lordship, Konstanz Barclay, shall remain the sole heir to the Principality.
To Lady Erika Barclay,
You are another whose contributions to House Barclay have for too long gone unrewarded. It was you, alongside my dearest mother, who designed and constructed the lion’s share of the interior of Wilheburg. As well as this, you have brought honour to our house with your actions as Alderwoman, as well as in the office of Envoy.
Thus I do see fit to grant to you, Erika, the Cross of Johanna; named after the late Queen of Sutica. May this act as a sign of gratitude and acknowledgement of your efforts to bring glory to the House of Barclay.

IN THE SEARCH OF HONOUR
Issued by the
DUCHY OF REINMAR
On this 11th day of Malin’s Welcome of 69 SA
To the whoremongers of Ruther,
Your pathetic attempts to rally your kinsmen in Oren, to draw enemy soldiers into Haense to fight your battles, has not gone unnoticed.
More amusing is that even with the backing of the schismatic, shirking Orenian Rutherns, you still beg for a battle of limited numbers. Knowing your house, even combined with its great number of traitors, bastards, and foreigners, it is to be no match for our own.
This we say to you, Dukes of House Ruthern;
We will gladly meet you on the field of battle, as House Barclay against Ruthern. And naturally, with only those born within wedlock, unless Your Grace suggests this puts your house at a disadvantage? You may even bring your treacherous kin of the Imperial State Army and show your treason to all the realm. We care not.
We will not let our own men sit idle in the face of insult, so that your own house's pathetic rally could stand a chance at victory. All of House Barclay have been begrudged by your actions, and all of them shall fight to see this grievance settled.
I chose honour long before you did, Your Grace. And I’ll bring that honour to Vidaus.
GOTT MIT UNS,
His Excellency, Johann Erich Barclay, Lord Marshal of Hanseti-Ruska, Prince of Sutica, Duke of Reinmar, Margrave of Vanderfell, Count of Kretzen, Baron of Freising and Sigradz, Lord Vandalore, Lord of Wilheburg and Freisburg, Chieftain of the Reinmaren

On this 11th day of Deep Cold of 69 SA
To the Duke of Vidaus,
In today’s Lifstala presentations, Lord Mikhail var Ruthern - your son, your heir - delivered upon House Barclay such unprovoked words of insults not seen between our two Duchies since the times of the Ducal Union.
These unprovoked words, including;
I. The naming of the male line of House Barclay as inbred
II. The mockery of the Princely status of the House
III. The naming of the females of House Barclay as wenches.
IV. The numerous insults laid upon multiple other members of the House Barclay - Including the daughter of the Duke, and Lady Erika Barclay.
The House of Barclay demands that either an immediate apology and compensation is provided by the House of Ruthern to mend the schism caused by these grave insults done by your future patriarch, or else, this grudge of ours will escalate to a feud, that we shall make every attempt within our nation’s law to satisfy.
Choose wisely, your Grace.

Issued by the
DUKE OF REINMAR
On this 11th day of Malin’s Welcome of 67 SA
To the Archchancellor of Oren,
I write to you now, at a moment I myself could not imagine could come to pass just a few days ago. Yet, GOD works in mysterious ways. Recently, my wife and I embarked on a Holy pilgrimage from our home in the Duchy of Reinmar. Because of the current war, we first decided to avoid the lands of the Empire on our pilgrimage, but after the short time i've already travelled, along with a short correspondance with His Holiness, have I come to realise that our Pilgrimage may not be complete merely in the lands of Haense and Savoy.
We may have our political differences, but what we, the Haeseni and Orenians have always shared, and shall always share is our faith. The Basilica of The Argentate Star yet stands as the greatest House of GOD on this plain, and no pilgrimage, no atonement can be truly completed without kneeling before the altar located in that Basilica.
Many Orenians have been granted temporary passage to Haeseni lands. Now I ask you the same; To be granted a writ of passage for both me and my wife and be allowed inside the City of New Providence in search to complete our task before GOD. We shall come unarmed, unarmored. We shall step into the Basilica of The Argentate Star, kneel before the altar of GOD and pray. Then, We shall depart the lands of the Empire. If you wish, you may have the Imperial State Army escort us to the Basilica, but all I ask is for us to be allowed inside your city, and that no harm may come upon me nor my wife while we complete this Holy Pilgrimage.
May GOD and St. Tylos watch over you and the entire flock of Canondom.
IN NAMEN GOTTES,
His Excellency, Johann Erich Barclay, Lord Marshal of Hanseti-Ruska, Prince of Sutica, Duke of Reinmar, Margrave of Vanderfell, Count of Kretzen, Baron of Freising and Sigradz, Lord of Wilheburg and Freisburg, Lord Vandalore, Chieftain of the Reinmaren
Her Princely Grace, Georgina Sofiya Barclay, Grand Lady of Hanseti-Ruska, Princess-Consort of Sutica, Duchess-Consort of Reinmar

His Holiness, Tylos II, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD

DUCHY OF REINMAR
On this 10th day of The Grand Harvest of 66 SA
Your Holiness,
In these times of war, as Canonist brothers bear steel against one another, I am not surely the only one, who has come to question my faith. In my youth, I was tutored as was any other child of noble birth. I prayed to GOD and St. Tylos each night, took to the Pilgrimage of St. Tylos upon the ascension to adulthood, as do all Barclays.
I was as every Canonist was, yet then came the war.
From the spark of the war, when we, the Brothers of St. Karl, charged in defence of the High Pontiff, rescuing His Holiness from the clutches of the frenzied schismatics in their own lands. To the recent years, where after the Anathema’s servants had attempted to bandit a Holy man of the Church, they charged at me alone. With only a broken axe at my side, I fended them off and watched with my bare eyes as the broken axe turned to a new, sharpened blade as if it were recently forged.
These events have made me wonder; what is GOD’s plan for me? I have slain many of the servants of Anathema, our fellow Canonist brothers. I take no joy in it, nor do I do it unless given no choice. But despite this, GOD chooses to grant upon me HIS protection.
In search for an answer to such, I do decree;
I. Both myself and my wedded wife are to retake the pilgrimage of St. Tylos, and travel to the shrines and Holy locations of Almaris. We shall take no luxuries with us, but dress as commoners, eat as commoners, and travel as commoners. While our pilgrimage takes place, I name Ser Reinhardt Barclay to be the Lord Regent of Reinmar and watch over our children until we return.
II. The House of Barclay is to donate the sum of 1000 mina to the Canonist Church in aid of those who have suffered from immense loss in this decade-spanning war.
III. In place of the recently burned and desecrated Chapel of St. Tylos, a new, mighty church is to be built for the Diocese of Reinmar, paid and constructed by House Barclay. In this church, the relics and remains of St. Tylos of Kalden are to be placed.
IV. The Brotherhood of St. Karl shall partake in additional yearly masses held by the Brotherhood’s chaplain to enforce that we are the Defenders of the Faith.
V. I shall personally seek to become a Deacon of the Holy Mother Church, and be taught the ways of the Exalted and the Holy Scrolls alongside my wedded wife.
May GOD and St. Tylos watch over you, and the entire flock of Canondom.

DUCHY OF REINMAR
On this 15th day of Wzuvar ag Byvca of 428 ES
AN ALLE REICHE UND VÖLKER DIESER WELT,
With great pain, do we announce the death of His Princely Grace, Sir Johann Barclay, Duke of Reinmar and Prince of Sutica.
His Princely Grace - After having left an official resignation from the position of Lord Marshal of Hanseti-Ruska and a missive of abdication from his role as The Duke of Reinmar and Patriarch of House Barclay - unfortunately was murdered on the way back to his home in Reinmar, by a group of unknown brigands.
After 46 years of leading the Ducal House of Barclay, and another 32 as the Lord Marshal of Hanseti-Ruska, Johann Barclay is at last at peace.
So, that’s that then.
It’s been a wild ride. On July 27th, I became the leader of the Barclay House & the Community of it, probably under the most stressful time possible. The entire House almost collapsed, but together we pulled through and managed to regain our status, strengthen the community and even go beyond what we had before. September - December of 2021 will always be the best time I had on the server, and I think back then it reflected really well on both my attitude and actions.
Well, it isn't 2021 anymore
It’s been a year actively leading one community, and close to 8 months leading another one - the BSK -. I dont think its too much to say, that the year is starting to take its toll on me, as would be expected. For the past few months, it’s been from one struggle to another - just some menial stuff, that back when I started I could’ve handled easily. Standing my ground on some argument I know is not right, or wanting to push something through I know is not proper. Idk why I did it, I knew I shouldn’t have but well, those who know what I mean know what I mean, and I’m sorry. I really am.
Anyways, out of the doomery for a bit; I know I haven’t ever been the best to give out gratitude when its deserved, or say thanks to people, but Iv’e always been really, really grateful to all those who’ve showed up to my events, trainings, meetings, rallies - or helped out doing those, pulling out reforms, events, etc. My goal as a Community leader - for both Barclay and the BSK - has always been to try and make sure you, as a player, have fun, enjoy your time and feel like you’re welcomed. I think I succeeded for a while to a decree, but even if you had just a bit of fun, I'm happy for it.
So uh, just going to say thank you, if you ever roleplayed with Johann / me, showed up to one of my silly things, hopped onto vc, helped with pulling some event or reforms or took up the job of doing something for me, thank you, seriously. I cant put to words how much I appreciate it. Especially to Conor, Kayla, Capt, Fionn, etc. and the BSK officer core and everybody else there, BSK is the best community I've ever had the chance to join, and I’ll forever be grateful I had the privilege at leading it, love you all.
Maybe we’ll see eachother around, somewhere. Dm’s are always open yadayada, but no mineman stuff for a while, please. I think iv’e deserved my break.
bye.
