  1. I feel that the Auction House has ruined several rp niches already, and should be removed from rp influence.

    (Vanilla blocks and materials pose no problem, in my opinion.)

     


    Availability: AH is accessible worldwide, making merchant town schemes ineffective when compared to extremely locked down and fortified PVP cities. This lack of archetypes removes the lively feeling of nations, as well as removes the benefit of allying with other nations for reasons other than PVP numbers.

    RP Flavor: There are several neat things that can lend flavor to a merchant that simply cant be conducted via Auction House. Descriptions on items are nice and all, but there is no story behind the item through such an interaction-free medium. There is no difference between a natural boutique sourcing finely woven clothing from local wool and someone with free edit tokens and an underground 2x8 sheep farm.

    Non-Standard Currency: This is one of the more glaring issues, being the lack of bartering. Through AH, you can only exchange an item for mina rather than for another item, information, or other means. Due to its superior availability and concept of hassle-free sourcing, people tend to pander more towards AH than the few surviving merchants.

    Uncharacteristic Outcomes: With the lack of moral monitoring in the AH, you can often see things like 6 year old children walking around with weapons of mass destruction with no rp backing whatsoever, just because they found a good deal on AH for their free 100 mina when they start a character. Additionally, Mina is often exchanged OOCly, which only worsens this. People can mule mina from their wealthy noble, through a friend, and back into their fresh character.

    I'm sure there are reasons this outcome was chosen to begin with, and I'd like to see those if anyone has them,

    I just cant envision many reasons it would be beneficial in remaining.

             Voidal Translocation

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Voidal Translocation is similar to its other voidal counterparts in that it still perpetuates weakness in the wielder.

    Due to current Voidal Connection lore, this means:

     

    On Connection: Stamina is reduced to that of a sedentary individual. This means sprinting is possible, but is likely to be overrun by more fit individuals.

    2 weeks of Connection: The mage is able to wield any weaponry with some difficulty.

    1 month of Connection: The mage tires quickly while using heavy weaponry, and can wear half-plate at most.

    2 months of Connection: The mage is unable to use heavy weaponry, and is limited to minor use of light weapons.

    3 months of Connection: The mage is unable to cast in anything heavier than gambeson, and quickly tires from plate.

     

    The essence of Voidal Translocation is transport through/storage within the void. By creating an anchor within the material, a translocationist can bind themselves to the realm long enough to de-materialize into base voidal energy and shift through void, re-materializing and appearing at the location of the anchor within an instant. This is similar in concept to making a mark on two opposite ends of a paper (Mage and Anchor), then folding the paper to make them touch, effectively skipping all the slack in between. This same concept can be used to suspend non-living matter within the void for extended periods of time, disassembling them into energy until the time comes to re-summon the item.

     

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    There are two main sections of Voidal Translocation:

     

    Expatriation - Expatriation is concept of deconstructing non-living matter into energy and keeping it stored within the void. This requires a deep familiarity with the object in question, such as weight, density, etc. [Voidal Feeling from Transfiguration is a very good assistance in this]. Once the mage is familiar with the item, they must concentrate their connection within the object, imbuing it with voidal energy. Their mana is used to disassemble the strands of familiarity within the object, rendering it to energy which is soon stored in the void. This concept can be used to reconstruct items, weaponry, and dead organic matter. It is worth noting that one cannot bisect items through Void Pocketing, meaning one cannot dissolve half of a staff into the void unless it is already cut in half. Expatriation also encompasses half-expatriation, which is the concept of keeping to separate anchors open at once and connected to each other. This acts as an instant transport from one portal to the next, but remains unable to pass living matter. Half-Expatriation is an exception to the bisecting rule, able to split items that are within the rifts at the time they close.

     

    Shifting - Shifting is similar to Expatriation, though the time spent in the void is much less; This makes it possible for living matter to be transported. In shifting, the mage creates an anchor within the material and focuses upon themselves and/or others, able to coat themselves in mana to be sundered through the void as energy. All that which is transported would be tethered to the anchor, re-appearing at the location of the anchor in the blink of an eye. Depending upon experience and preparation, this act can be incredibly disorienting.

    Void Pocket [Deconstruction] - T5 - 3 Emotes

     

    [!] The elder had soon steadied his mind, envisioning the very metal rod he sought to store. He remembered in checklist fashion, imagining each factor as if it was playing upon his senses actively: Luster, Weight, the center upon which it balances, the various rivets and fine scratches upon its lacquer. Soon, a pale blue began to pulsate from his palm, etching its way along his forearm like flame.

     

    [!] Opening his eyes, the man set his gaze upon the item before himself, moving a palm to grace it. In some metaphysical magnetism, the intangible flame that had so graced his arm began to replicate and slither a path upon the metal, engulfing it entirely. Slowly, the item began to warble in and out of a transient state.

     

    [!] With a sudden pulse of effervescence, the rod was vaporized into tiny particles, all of which sucked through a small rift where the rod once was. As the gleaming particulates were entirely consumed, the rift vanished, and the pale blue soon faded.

    Summon Weapon - 1 Emote (More for Learning)

             

    Red: Teacher

    Green: Student

     

    "Come, child. It is time for a lesson." beckoned the guru as he descended from his meditative floor, the light creaking of wooden floorboards accompanied by the tapping of his staff.

     

    The young adult soon followed as was commanded, resting both knees upon a small cushion as his mentor did much the same across from him.

     

    "I trust you are recovered well enough from the deconstruction of your weaponry?" intoned the man, his eyes coming to rest in a trance-like autonomy.

     

    "Aye, sir." replied the boy, taking the moment to match the posture of the statue-esque figure before him. The tilt of his chin, the structure of his back, and the position of his feet. 

     

    "Good. Let us attempt to mend it."

     

    Though the man's words were few, the student immediately opened his eyes, having not known that his beloved tool could undergo a restoration. Words of question were burning upon his tongue, but he bided his time and soon slipped back into composure. "Instruct me, sage, and I shall follow."

     

    A thin smile crossed the elder's lips as the boy had seemed to mature some in that moment. "Begin your connection. You will need to familiarize the very feel of the object in your mind. Its weight, material, length - all that it embodies. Think even of that which seems so removed from detail. The simplicity of the design, down to its faintest splinter."

     

    The student did as was asked, a pallid purple emanating from his palm. Unknowingly, his aura had begun to wisp about in an odd pattern, as if it was attempting to elongate. "I remember...I remember the hilt was alike to my palm - I was outgrowing it." another shift of the aura emulated that which the boy described "The blade was similar to my forearm and then some." soon, the mists traced upon his arterial outline, beginning to formulate against his arm.

     

    "Good. Now, remember how it felt in your grasp. The texture of leather and maple. The wrap was fraying." the elder's eyes had opened to reveal thin green now, watching his student's progress as to better instruct.

     

    At the mention of the fraying wrap, the mists were stimulated into finer grit and detail, the hilt of a small sword taking shape in the student's hand as purple.

     

    "Good. Now finalize your thought. The cold touch of the metal upon your arm, the fuller at the base. Remember how it felt when you cut your finger upon the edge."

     

    As each factor was described, the item took further shape. The outline of the blade grew in detail along his forearm, fit with a fuller. As the student got a grip of the process of thought, the pommel soon took form, then the crossguard. It was but a moment before the blade was realized in finality, and with a final pulse of warbling mana, it became true. The thin blade was materialized in the student's grasp.

     

     

     

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    I would contact the student and elaborate on specifically what is considered powergaming. This would involve a more defined limit on ability and a strategy to ensure quality of rp. If this is not followed and it continues, I would contact staff.

  4. Sitting deep within his study and looking upon a letter that had just been granted to him, a certain mage's face darkens. He scanned each stroke of ink pledged across its page, searching for whatever falsehood would lie beneath...if only he looked closer, there might be a flaw, an illusion. But alas, there naught to be hidden; Somehow - he thought - This was the work of desire. That of his own, that of his kinsmen...the curse that so fervently plagued his own kind. All was of little concern now, as his face was cowled in the hearth's absence, the clutch of cold despair taking hold in his very core...

     

    A flame had been snuffed.

             Fire Evocation

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Fire Evocation is the voidal art of doing just that; Evoking Fire

    In essence, a practitioner of this art can create and hold an anchor for as long as their mana may allow, drawing the magical affinity of flame from the void itself.

    This voidal flame holds various unique properties dissimilar to that of mundane flame, however. Akin to the other voidal arts, these odd spawns do not

    linger in the material forever, but may leave behind smaller flames where they strike if adequate fuel is present. 

     

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    Furthering upon the aforementioned, there are no formal "Sections" of this magic, though there are individual spells. Additionally, one can

    modify these spells to blaze flame of blue, or to hold combustive value through "Blue Flame" and "Combustion" respectively. The specifics of

    each of these modifications are elaborated upon in the listing of each spell.

    Flame projectile + Combustive

     

    1 (Connect)

    Silas grinned, looking unto the figure on the far side of the room. Slowly did ebbs of mana-bound mist flow into his digits, gleaming their ever-present blue in nigh mimicry of his now lively eyes.


    2 (Combustion + Aesthetic shaping)

    [!] Suddenly, a small flicker zipped across those mists, alighting them into a ball of flame! Detail carved meticulously about the form of the orb, licks of flame coaxing into nooks and crevices of the same before the shape was complete; The emblazoned figure of a skull, spinning gently as it began to heave air inward akin to an unheard scream.

    3 (Charging)
    [!] The flaming skull grew to the size of a baseball, its volatile form cackling silently as it greedily took in more air. Its puppeteer elicited a similarly construed melody of laughter, though his eyes remained trained upon his target. 

    4 (Casting + General Description of Effects)

    [!] And thus, in an inspired movement of his entire body, the mage thrust that skull forth, sending it hurdling from his palm! A trail of delicate, vanishing cinders was left in its wake before shortly dissipating, much in contrast to the main machination. Its mouth agape, the skull hurdled toward its target with the force of a hard baseball throw, maintaining the ability to light small flames upon burnable aspects it collides with!

    [!] The archmage looked upon his pupil with some determination, albeit mixed with a modicum of discomfort. In truth, he was certainly fitting of the art in question, tactics of tutelage wreathed in trial by fire. And so, the scene was set. He had self inflicted a wound upon his arm using his dagger, just 2 inches deep. Having prepared and numbed the wound beforehand, he utters to his student in a semi-tremble "Come now, child. Waste naught a moment, for you may not have such luxury in the future."


    1 (Connection)
    [!] To this, the student's gaze was instantly construed in confusion and urgency. Stepping forth to the wound that was slowly oozing blood, he began a connection birthed of red, mists intertwining along his forearm. "You're a madman, i'm convinced." he utters, gaze tracing the wound

    "Mad, no. Methodical, yes." muses the elder, before pointing to the student's hand "Now, channel mana into your hand and create simple heat. Use too little, and it shant complete the task. Use too much....and you'll be the next one cut." he remarks, breathing steadily.

    2 (Charging) 
    [!] The student's hand began to gleam accordingly, glowing a gentle radiance as heat streamed into it. "Is this enough?" he inquires, looking to the bleeding man's visage for confirmation

    "More, young one, more!" he lauds, watching as blood trickles through and through. "You couldn't burn dry wood with that!" his admonishing tone held a small portion of inspiration, however, beckoning the brazen scholar further yet.

    3 (Casting + Effects)
    [!] Alas, the boy's hand heated to adequate temperature, and with the man's nod, he pressed it under the wound. The stench of burning flesh filled the air as the mana-bound mentor grimaced in pain, bits of the burning sensation poking through the numbing. "You bas-" he cuts himself off, eating the pain for a moment. The student's hand did its work true, and before long, the wound was patched. Releasing that held breath, the elder relents "Good work, boy...Now, fetch me my flask."

     

     

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    In the instance of a student's powergaming, I would look over what they did in detail and take accounts from both sides.

    That being said, if it was a simple mistake I would show them the way to correct such, and would look into my teaching method and modify it accordingly,

    along with mediating the situation between them and the other party.

    If it is a larger, blatantly inexcusable instance, I would seek to notify staff accordingly.

  6. I think it could be neat dynamic for both the irp economy and just irp flavor in general to have a courier system.

     

     

    Picture this:

    Someone goes to the courier office and asks the man on standby to run a letter from Haense to Norland, and so he takes the letter there accordingly. Then you get the classic courier running down the busy square yelling for the name of the intended.

     

    This sparks roleplay, and creates the barrier between nations that Arcas was so criticized for not having. As well, one could go to an aviary and send a letter through that. Makes it so EVERYONE has to get out of their houses and make open, applicable rp for all. 

    A courier system could also be neat for some sort of info monopoly, double agent type stuff, reading people's letters for villainy rp. Idk, it just sounds like there are 0 downsides to such an implement.

  10. A solemn, trodden elf would walk upon that scene in the tavern, glancing over the horrid, lifeless form of his once-fallen comrade. Acquiescent hues would pan its figure, looking knowingly upon the wooden smile. There was no happiness that lingered there. There hadn't been for some time. He knew now, more than ever, that his friend was truly beyond him. 

    Sighing within the crisp silence of that tavern, he vocalizes only

    "My Pride and Joy."
