  1. Tamerlane De Astrea sat shaking, hidden beneath her favourite tree, the inhuman horrors wrought by the Orenians still fresh in her mind, her home, her safe, kind home had been so hurt by the invaders, the thought of violence still made the girl feel violently ill, but perhaps... It would be okay to hurt the invaders if they returned. "Tama will not let the monsters hurt Tama's family!"

Aria was born to Chilton and Radella Moonfallow, as a citizen of the Empire of Renatus. When their first, and only child was born, Aria's parents rejoiced at the arrival of a new son who would surely grow to become a strong warrior and inherit the family's small but profitable trade company, Aria however was determined to be none of those things. As a child she attended lessons in both warfare and trade, as well as various other essentials for a well to do future merchant, taking part in much of her education with the disinterest of someone with loftier goals in mind, Aria had read many tales and wished for nothing more than to be a great sorceress and adventurer, with great wealth and power, though had several problems attaining such a goal, not least her parents, who were eager to preserve the legacy they had so painstakingly built. She had few friends in her youth, her oddities and lack of similar interests to her immediate peers making conversation often difficult, though she did eventually befriend several other children considered odd, mostly girls, none were close enough to be considered a boon companion however. It was during one of her lessons at the age of ten that she nearly drowned, having taken a bad dive while trying to make the lesson finish sooner so she may return to reading, she was eventually rescued by one of her few male friends, a boy by the name of Durward who would years later become her first kiss and briefly romantic partner, however he soon caught the eye of a girl and Aria herself had little attraction to him anyway, so they ended on a neutral note. In her mid to late teens Aria's body began to change in ways she found most distressing, fortunately her father was hardly a hulking mass of masculinity, and her obsession with mages was well known enough that no one questioned her growing hair or loose robes, which suited her just fine, she didn't want to talk about it anyway. Aria got into her first true fight at sixteen, her father chose to allow her to accompany him or a business trip, during which they were attacked on the road, Aria found herself alone against an armed man, and with equal parts luck and skill was able to drive her sword into his throat, it was incredibly messy and incredibly distressing for Aria, especially as she had gotten much of the blood on some of her father's most valuable goods, as a punishment she was forced to remain bloody until they reached their destination, an experience she still remembers. On her nineteenth birthday Aria was entrusted with a small amount of coin to purchase some supplies as her father had fallen ill, she took this, along with her savings, purchased provisions and clothing, and simply left the city, her ultimate goal to find someone to teach her the secrets of magic, in the meantime she planned to gather funds and eventually visit the Grand Library of Dragur which she had read of in a journal her father took in lieu of full payment for some medicines, certain the near limitless knowledge contained within would be able to at least begin her on the path to learning. Once she was a full day's travel away from home, she took on the name of Aria outside of just her own mind for the first time, though could not bring herself to fully discard her family name, feeling gratitude for her parents having raised her as best they knew how.
