Shayne was born in the slums of Helena 23 years ago. The backdrop of the period's instability overset his birth, and constant raids by Urguan and Krugmar led to a sheltered childhood. At age 5, his father murdered a soldier in cold-blood. Himself, his mother, and his sister soon found themselves in exile. His father, constantly wanted by the authorities, meant that Shayne lived his young life on the run. They would travel around Oren and Haense, until they eventually ran into a military patrol under remnants of the Kingdom of Fenn. One lone soldier would turn into one hundred armed. They would see to it that his father and his family were dispatched quickly in a robbery gone wrong. Shayne barely escaped with his life. He would travel through the world alone, not being allowed shelter anywhere; soon seeing himself expelled from Urguan as well. Shayne then served as a mercenary under the Sutican army during the Sutican war, before the peace of Merryweather. Here, he would find a band of companions with whom he stowed away on approach to Almaris.
