As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the rugged landscape, Dietrich Faust sat alone, the crackling of a bonfire the only companion to his solitude. The aging Waldenian resembled nothing close to the once youthful and confident man he had been. His weathered face bore the marks of time, etched with lines of regret and sorrow.  For decades he had wandered, nothing more than a solitary figure seeking solace in the wilderness, having chosen to flee from the memories that haunted his every waking moment. The peace he had yearned for eluded him, slipping through his fingers like sand in an hourglass.

And now as news reached him of the passing of his friend, Waclaw Jazlowiecki, Dietrich found himself consumed by regret. He regarded Waclaw as a man far more than his noble titles and lineage; He was his best friend, his brother. The two shared laughter and tears, triumphs and failures, and yet in his selfish pursuit he had allowed the sands of time to slip away unchecked, believing that there would always be a tomorrow, that there would always be another day to return and catch up with his old friend.

This was his biggest regret.

Dietrich gazed into the flickering flames, a letter unfinished held tightly in the man's hands, and a quiet goodbye uttered.

"You were always the better man, Red."

He tossed the letter into the fire before then reaching for his flask and an extra cup from his bag. He opened it, pouring some of the fine liquor into the empty cup before setting it beside him, his gaze drifting towards the starry sky as he raised his flask up high.

One last toast. 

"Farewell, dear friend.”

Dietrich gave the missive a quick read, only one name stood out to him with the rest meaning very little,

"Someone's awfully popular."

He shook his head; a small chuckle escaped the blond as he set the missive aside to begin writing a letter.

Dietrich read the missive, setting it aside before beginning to write a letter of his own to his old friend,

"A retirement well-earned, friend, and a visit is long overdue. I ought to bring my best liquor..."

Dietrich read the missive before setting it aside with a heavy sigh. The Commander had been taking his dear friend's death especially hard, not having slept at all since witnessing the execution.

To the People of Merryweather and Valiant Souls of our nation,

I, Commander Dietrich Faust, address you today in response to the troubling missive regarding the presence of a group of malicious nuns in our lands. It is my solemn duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our community, and in light of the reported threat, we shall take decisive action and extend aid in their capture.

Reports of these nuns wandering our land and soliciting donations while allegedly poisoning our populace cannot be taken lightly. The safety of our people remains paramount, and I assure you that we shall not stand idly by. Your concerns are our concerns, and we will do everything in our power to address this menace.

First and foremost, as suggested in the missive, I implore you not to interact with any nun you may come across. These individuals are to be considered potentially dangerous until we can ascertain the full extent of their actions. Avoid making eye contact, speaking to, or engaging with them in any way. Furthermore, if they attempt to offer you food or sustenance, heed our warning and flee immediately. Your well-being is our priority.

For those among us who possess the skills and the courage to confront this threat head-on, they are offering a bounty of 500 minas for each nun brought to justice, whether dead or alive. I expect those who take up this challenge will be duly compensated. However, I must stress that we aim to capture these nuns alive for confirmation and questioning. Whoever makes the capture is entitled to their reward, and in order to claim such, send a bird to an individual by the name of Galatriel, who posted the bounty. Send either myself or Sergeant Isavella Jazloviecki a bird should any more information or sightings of these nuns arise. 

Let us stand united against this threat to our community. By working together, we can ensure the safety and security of our lands. We shall leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice, and we will not rest until this danger has been eliminated.

We are overjoyed to share the incredible news with you – our beloved Duchess has brought forth her three precious miracles into the world, Borys Sveneld Ivanovich, Agnieszka Marie Ivanovich, and Ottilie Anna Ivanovich. The joyous occasion took place one month before the anticipated date, catching us all by delightful surprise.

The Duchess exhibited remarkable strength and grace as she welcomed her three beautiful bundles of joy into our realm. Though their early arrival may have caused a few extra heartbeats, both mother and babies are in good health thanks to the quick action of Lina Ratispora and her aid in delivering the newborns.

As per Canonist and Ruskan Orthodox tradition, all three newborn crows shall be baptized whilst the Ducal couple sequester themselves in their home to familiarize themselves with their newborns. 

We ask those of Stran and the Canonist realms to extend a warm welcome to the newest members of the Ivanovich family.

The Duchess is responsible for managing the affairs of the duchy, overseeing social events, fostering community relations, and championing causes that promote the welfare and prosperity of the realm's citizens. Her grace, wisdom, and diplomacy are essential in maintaining harmony and order within the territory.

Governor/Governess

The Governor, or Governess, is tasked with aiding the Duchess in overseeing court operations, as well as being able to run the court in her absence. The Governess will essentially act as the right hand to the Duchess.

Privy Councilors 

Privy Councilors are trusted individuals capable of providing counsel on policy, diplomacy, and other important matters. 

Court Secretary

The Court Secretary is responsible for managing the written records and correspondence of the ducal court. The court secretary's duties include transcribing official documents, recording important events and decisions, and handling communication between the Duke and Duchess and other officials or foreign dignitaries.

Ladies-in-waiting are appointed to attend to the personal needs and companionship of the duchess. They are to accompany her on various occasions and provide support in her daily life.

The Mistress of Wardrobe is tasked with upkeep and management of the noble wardrobe as the name suggests, as well as setting the standard for the Fashion of Stran culture. Upon taking this position she must have a keen eye for style.

Works directly under the Court Secretary, the Head Scribe is in charge of not only writing letters, transcripts, and such, but is partially in charge of ensuring pisets are well integrated into the court and allocating tasks.

The court steward's duties typically include overseeing the household, finances, and various aspects of the court's administration, such as organizing events, supervising servants, and handling the allocation of resources. 

Court Physician

The Court Physician is put in charge of providing medical care and advice to members of the court. Their duties may extend to joining the Duke and Duchess on their travels and aiding them should they suffer illnesses or injuries abroad. 

Court Alchemist

The Court Alchemist must be an individual well-versed in the subject area, they are tasked with providing their services to the court and the noble family’s needs. Court Alchemists are also tasked with teaching those within the court should they be seeking students. 

Court Tutor

The Court Tutor is tasked with ensuring the youth of both the noble family and others within the court receive a well rounded education 

Court Artisans

A position for the artistic and talented among our community, court artisans are tasked with creating innovative and artistic works, as well as contributing to the artistic advancement of Stran’s culture. This extends to all forms of creativity, whether it be music, art, literature, and so on. 

Pisets

Otherwise known as scribes, this is a position open to all youth who are unable to take wardship. An opportunity for the next generation to be able to participate in the court and receive mentorship from those working within the hierarchy. Each person may receive a different role depending on where they are seen fit or on the basis of interest. 

As we embark on a new chapter, I am excited to announce that opportunities for growth and advancement within our court abound. Each of you brings unique talents and skills that have enriched our court's tapestry, and I firmly believe that there are positions perfectly suited to showcase your abilities.

Dietrich Faust rolled his eyes, having survived their cowardly attempt to kill him in the streets of Whitespire, finding the post nothing but laughable as he had no reason to them seriously after the previous night's debacle, "Man up." He scoffed, showing the missive off to his rangers, "Cowards going on about how strong their grunt is, yet needed three people to kill only me."

The elder Oyashiman had the missive read aloud to to him by his dear cousin, taking a long sip of his freshly brewed tea as he pondered, "Sounds like it could be quite the adventure, doesn't it?" 

Izabela Jazloviecki tsked upon reading the missive, "Seems the brutes have gotten bored already." She snorted, tossing the missive into the fireplace and picking up a something worth reading instead. 

Makoto Iekami sighed, shaking his head, "Is it such an impossible task to avoid trying to kill one another?" He set the missive aside, choosing to spend the rest of his day enjoying the peace around him as he sat on the bank of a river.

HEART EYES

Makoto Iekami frowned upon reading not only on the state of the House but also upon hearing of Walentyna's condition. Of course, his faith in the children of his dearest friends remained unwavering as he was certain they would be able to pull through their current predicament no matter how grim things seemed. "I ought to pay the children a visit, the least I can do is support them as much as I can through these trying times." He handed the missive over to Mayumi and Elysia to read for themselves.
