Through a series of skillful investments and business deals, Zenobios' grandfather managed to build the wealth and importance of the Argyros family within their city-state. By the time of his birth, Zenobios would be part of an immensely powerful and wealthy family. Throughout his early childhood, he was taught classic literature and philosophy, imparting on him a thirst for knowledge still present in him. Once in his early teenage years, Zenobios' father began to mentor him, showing him the ropes of business and political maneuvering. After years of this, Zenobios proved experienced enough to enter politics on his own, although with the backing of his father. Eventually, he gained the support of the rest of the elite, and was appointed the head of the city. This coincided with his father's death, leaving him in control of a vast fortune at the age of seventeen.
It was throughout this six-year period in his life where he showed his true talent for government. Through a balanced fiscal policy, he managed to fortify the treasury, all while embarking on a program of public works and social protection. For his city, it was a time of great prosperity, as trade flourished as a result of Zenobios' leadership. However, this would not prove to last. While he had kept his enemies at bay through well timed assassinations and deals, a conspiracy arose through the aristocracy that he and his father had once called friends. One fateful night, as he was dictating letters in his home, a contingent of armed guard entered, laying waste to his manor, and killing those in sight. He managed to escape, but it appeared the rest of his family had been captured or killed. Through the city streets, he traveled through the darkness until reaching the government house, thinking he could find loyalists. However, that attempt did not prove fruitful, as the conspiracy was much larger than he expected. Sneaking through the city, he made it to an abandoned building, hoping to stay hidden. Over the next few days, he remained hidden, witnessing what appeared the aftermath of a coup d'état against him. Realizing he had lost control of his city, he decided to leave, and after sneaking to the port, he stowed away on a merchant ship.
After this, he led a poverty-stricken and sorry life for two years, before he was finally able to get back on his feet. Both ashamed and vengeful for his situation, he will not stop until he has regained his wealth and influence.
