I took the mantle upon myself as an ambitious young girl who dreamed of a world of peace. My goals have changed little in my time occupying the role, and I hope to forever strive for that idyllic dream. It is in the interest of these goals, and the esteemed citizens of Chambery, that I now alleviate myself of this title. While the citizens of the Free City will always find loyalty in me- I am not the aimless girl who stepped into this role. Serving the people of Chambery, and of the Commonwealth beyond, has altered me in ways that I shall be eternally appreciative of. My path beckons me elsewhere, but a fragment of my soul will forever remain within the glistening waters of the Free Port that I have called home for so much of my life. I will be abdicating my role as Bourgemestra of Chambery, and hosting an election so that the Citizens of the Free City may once more decide upon a just Leader. And though I will not be present to witness it, I have the utmost faith in the citizens, guilds and Councilors of this city to elevate us from this precipice and bring us to greatness. Thus, municipal elections as hencely open to individuals who meet the following requirements; The candidates must be a citizen or Property Owner of The Free City of Chambery, either commercial or residential or a confirmed Celestial Trustee. Candidates may give their candidacy for Bourgmestre but must be accepted as such by all the Guilds of Chambery. Fliers would be spread across the Commonwealth of the Petra, and to the neighboring regions now frosted over much like it. While the fliers were most certainly placed in the largest cities, they were also veritably spread to smaller farmsteads and more rural communities as well. In harsh winters such as these, The Free Port of Chambery faces several arduous challenges. We will not allow these obstacles to inspire anguish within our hearts. As the severest of frosted winds blow through the Commonwealth, we must gather around our hearths to welcome in the warmth of our community. It is through our relationships to others that we have survived the harsh winters of the past, and it is through them that we will triumph once more. Through appealing to our allies in Celia’nor, I have arranged for a large shipment of grain to be imported into the Commonwealth through Chambery. The grain will be kept and worked into rations by members of Chambery’s community, though make no mistake- These blessings shall be shared with every individual possible. Any who might fear themselves without food in the coming months are welcome to Chambery’s Storeroom. Rations will be served at all times, and without charge. Visitors are free to remain in Chambery for as long as they wish, provided they do not disrupt the civility of the Free Port. In the case of communities or holdings affected most harshly by the ravaging of the Bleakfall, I advise you to send word to the Chamberian Townhall. THE CHAMBERIAN PEOPLES' GALA 11th of Snow's Maiden, 2006 IC | 11th of Snow's Maiden, 211 SA I would like to begin this address by expressing my upmost appreciation to the free citizens of Chambery. Their belief in my ability to fulfill this role will not be met with failure. I understand the sanctity of the title I inherit from Guild Master Nicolas Wittenbach, and I will strive to accomplish my duties in earnest. As Bourgmestre, I plan to heed the words of those who have given me this authority. To accomplish this, I must first familiarize myself with their stories and plights. A Peoples' Gala will be held in Chambery in an effort to construct lasting relationships of amicability between the new Bourgmestre and the people of Petra. All will be invited to this event. Sensitive to the scarcity of the long winter ahead, room and board will be provided for those seeking respite during this time. A committee will be appointed to oversee the Gala, ensuring its smooth arrival and operation. This committee will be seeking out both talented performers and lucrative vendors to put on displays at the Gala. Both are encouraged to pen letters to the Bourgmestre's office if interested in participating. The Peoples' Gala will be held on [Saturday, December 21st @ 5:00 PM EST]. MELISA V. TOR FOR BORGMESTRE My name is Melisa Vanfer Tor. I have recently been elected to the Second People’s Seat of Petra, within the Garmont Assembly. Though my youth was short lived in the Free City of Chambery, the time I did spend in the city inspired my love for the arts and my ambition to do something greater with my life. With the wealth of knowledge provided by the National Geographic Society, the world beyond never seemed far away. My mission is to bring that world to Chambery. As Borgmestre, I plan on increasing support for the students of Redquill, so that they may prioritize their studies. I plan on breathing life into the Sol Guild’s local theatre, by inviting playwrights from throughout the Commonwealth to put on shows. I plan on filling our ports with commerce, so that the streets of Chambery may flow with goods from across the world forevermore. If I am elected, I will hold a Peoples’ Gala, and invite local artists to perform. I will take advantage of this time to familiarize myself with the community, and promote a prosperous relationship between myself, the guilds, and the people of Chambery. My mission is simple, but my dedication to the people of Chambery is resolute. Elect me as Borgmestre, and Chambery will bloom beyond what it already has.
