Born into a small town in the Crown of Amaethea, Alanis grew up in exceptionally normal circumstances. His father, a High Elf, and uncharacteristically free of the pomp befitting their reputation, had fallen in love with a Wood Elf female, eventually choosing to flee Haelun'or in favor of starting a new life with his beloved. Alanis grew up taking after his father in both personality and appearance, able to pass as a High Elf deceptively well, though lacking their customary aloofness. Alanis' father had a love for the fine arts, a passion which would eventually pass onto Alanis himself. His childhood and young adulthood was filled with charcoal pencils and brushes, learning to depict the world around him. Though being of both High Elf and Wood Elf descent never bothered Alaris, the mixed nature of his blood sometimes lead him to be isolated from his peers. Too pale to truly be a Wood Elf and so impure as to not be true High Elf, he had some troubles during his formative years making lasting relationships, struggling to find his place in the world. In these times, he found solace in art, finding that happiness was achievable regardless of paltry things like race. Soon, the small town he was born into could no longer contain his inquisitive nature, and as he heard of the many wonders which Almaris held, feelings of wanderlust began to dominate his every moment. He chose to leave the small town, promising to return ever so often, opting for a life of travel and a vow to capture the world's beauty.
