Auberen

Hi, I'm a veteran minecraft player but new to mcrp. I've got a lot of experience in written rp, writing, character portrayal, and rp in real life. I DM for a couple campaigns of DnD, and a player in another. 

But that's just me. Little bit about Auberen, as I originally imagined him. The magic stuff couldn't make the cut in the application for reasons, but perhaps some compromise could be reached, like it ending up being the case that he loses his ability to call on it due to the trauma.

If the mods or whomever would hear me out, then that'd be amazing.

Anyway;

Born in the fiefdom of a cruel lord, his parents hid the natural magical ability they realized he had at about ten years old for a few years until someone discovered it. Upon hearing of it, the cruel lord took him from his parents and exiled them to faraway lands, aiming to use the magic within him for his own purposes. Once there, he met the lord's illegitimate daughter-turned-attack-dog named Sephira. Ending up spending plenty of time together via the nature of what his magic does and what she's ordered to do, they grow close over the years. Eventually, it all came to a head when Sephira decided that enough was enough, using all of her violent talents to break herself and Auberen out of the castle to set themselves free. Severely wounded from the fight, Sephira managed to get Auberen to safety, only for the lord of the castle to loose a bolt into her. In a rage, Auberen finished off the lord. He couldn't stay by Sephira, however, having to leave her behind as reinforcements arrived. 

"Don't make what I did for you mean nothing, Auberen," were the last words she spoke to him, taking the hand off of her prosthetic arm before shoving him, forcing him to run, to live another day.

Now, he walks the earth in search of fulfilling the purpose given to him, primarily by using his abilities to heal others.

Info about the magic I'm talking about:

Basically, whenever he gets hurt, physically or emotionally, he and everyone in the immediate vicinity experience a pleasant effect, like smelling fresh laundry, tasting your favorite food on your tongue, or like sinking into a warm bath after a hot day. I'd like this to be a very minor healing effect in practice, scaling with how badly hurt he is, costing spell slots to activate with being insulted/wounded as a component. Healing effect is less effective on himself, though especially effective on others if they harm him. 

This could look like: In a clinic, Auberen might prick his finger in order to access the magic. He has minor control over it, as in, not healing the people he's fighting if it comes to that unless they're on the brink of death.

Having talked to staff, I'm told that the magic is complicated, and that staying away from it for now would be best. I'll keep this stuff here for later reference, but for all intents and purposes, the backstory articulated here, specifically the magic part of it, can be ignored. As a replacement explanation, Auberen was taken into the castle by the lord simply because he required labor. His parents, knowing the lord's cruelty, protested, earning themselves an excommunication. 

As far as losing access to it, therefore needing someone to teach it back to him, maybe the solution would be that he lost access to it because he's subconsciously focusing all of it on the prosthetic hand in an attempt to try and bring her back?
