The Warhawkian Association of Fishing

Are you tired of fishing by yourself? Are you a Warhawke that wants to enjoy downtime with friends and family or are you a fishing connoisseur regardless of homeland that just wants a place to enjoy your hobby? Then come join the Warhawkian Association of Fishing! We are a group open to people of all nations, races, and creeds who come together to celebrate the art of fishing. Founded by Dakath Ba’ikana in 1596, the Association focuses on fishing centered events that build community and friendship. Events will be attempted weekly, most of which being informal. Fishing skill inside the group varies and there is no requirement in terms of talent. The only recommendations are to treat fellow members with respect, attend events and speak to members frequently, and to enjoy free time fishing when available. Ranks may be remade in the future, but for now there are only Association leaders and members.

As a brisk winter wind splits the morning air, Lord Regent Hogarth Irongut stands behind a large stone podium as he waits to address the people he has been nominated to lead.

“Brothers born from iron and flame,

The Eighteen Years’ War demonstrated the sheer destruction that we sons of Urguan and Horen have the capacity to cause. That when we forsake sound and rational thought, there is seemingly no end to the pain we can endure upon each other. In recent years, our council has sued for peace with the nations that lie beyond our borders, forming close ties with our counterparts in the Orenian Empire. A peace we can no longer ensure is maintained, while this despotic regime festers on the idea that they are entitled to all the world’s bounties.

I regret that Oren chooses to excuse its warmongering through utterly nonsensical allegations, and a persisting fear of coexistence with others, more akin to the deranged ravings of a madman. Upon the break of morn, its terms of ultimatum were delivered, in which it was demanded that the orcish clans residing within our borders relocate their holdings and forgo all ties to the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. However, the truth is that the orcs hold no desire to relinquish their fealty, as they know this would mean offering themselves for slaughter against a race that desires their extinction. Alas, Oren appears to believe only itself fit to hold dominion over others.

Despite all attempts to rightfully maintain peace through means of discourse and diplomacy, this self-styled and utterly delusional Emperor now threatens our sovereign territory by disregarding the Treaty of The Northern Union and marching on our lands, in pursuit of his ignoble genocide of the orcish race. Rather than assist us in our efforts to assimilate the orcs into just and peaceful society, by means of the abolishment of slavery and black magic, they now see fit to brand us enemies. Ironic indeed that a people who frequently order assassins and turncoats to murder and kinslay their own from the warm comfort of their hearths, would claim the barbarism of another race.

My interactions with the empire have taught me one thing of their intentions. The truth is that Oren does not care what misdemeanors were committed in driving us to exodus from our old home. Nor do they woe that their current endeavors will lead them on a path to war with Urguan. No, for their only true desire is to saturate their bloodlust, to dominate and subjugate all life so that one day, they can claim this world as their own. Only Iblees himself strived for the same ends, and so quite fitting it is that the House of Horen should bear the sigil of the Black Dragon upon its crest.

We must now come to terms with the fact that the time for peace and conciliation is over. The time for war is upon us. The menace of the Black Dragon has risen once again. A treacherous hive of hatred and sin, a nation born from deceit and malice. They will not relent, they will show no mercy. They will strike swiftly, like a plague infesting the very heart of its victims.

Alas, like our ancestors of old, we will deliver this empire to the dirt, as we did its Emperor, John I. We will cut the head from the snake and forge a new era where all are unbound by the shackles of human tyranny. As the sands of time pass and the flesh of humans wither, their empire will be lost to the forgotten annals of history. No statues will be erected in memory of their fallen, no songs sung of their misdeeds. We, the denizens of Urguan were here long before they came, and long after they will perish.

Henceforth, let it be known that Urguan will never bow to a tyrant. We will never surrender. We will fight axe and shield in hand until the apocalypse is upon us. Once more, the horn shall sound from the deep and we will stare evil in the eye and fight on in defense of our mountain home, to all the world’s end.

Let Yemekar bear witness and judge that our cause is righteous. Our defiance will be the song of ages.”

“As some of you may know Paragon Valen’s Day is fast approaching us. In a stone week I call for the various clans and groups in the Kingdom to come together in celebration for the Kingdom’s literary tradition and culture. Paragon Valen was known as the greatest writer ever witnessed in Dwarven history for his help with drafting the first Articles of Urguan along with various other important treatises on Dwarven life and culture. The Paragon Valen has unfortunately long since passed from our world but his memory lives on in the hearts of writers everywhere.

In Honor of Paragon Valen the Grand Kingdom of Urguan announces a writing contest for all Dwedmar of the land. Whoever impresses the judges enough with their prose or poetry will be rewarded with prizes for their merit. The piece of writing contestants choose to present is up to them but short stories are encouraged. Know that the Dwarven Kingdom has and always needs capable writers as they are a backbone of the Grand Kingdom. The prizes are as follows:

First prize: 1,000 minas and a relic of Paragon Valen!

Second Prize: 500 minas for your adequate literature.

Third Prize: 250 minas for a worthy effort.

Work hard in order to get your piece done by the end of the stone week! In the end we will all gather so that the submissions can be judged properly.”

A reply is penned back to the office of Oren’s Emperor and delivered to the Palace in Johannesburg.

To the Holy Orenian Emperor Philip I Frederick, we hope that in your grace, you will consider the following terms, for the betterment and prosperous future of our two great nations.

In regards to upholding the terms laid forth in the Treaty of the Northern Union,

The Holy Orenian Empire shall halt any attacks on the settlement of Azaghol with immediate effect, respecting the territorial integrity of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan’s borders.

The Holy Orenian Empire shall agree to recognise Azaghol as a dominion beneath the Grand Kingdom of Urguan’s jurisdiction, its denizens subjects of the crown.

The Grand Kingdom of Urguan and Holy Orenian Empire respectively shall not attempt any future incursion into the other’s sovereign decision-making process.

In return, the Grand Kingdom of Urguan shall agree to ensure the following terms in regards to the Orcs of Azaghol are upheld,

The complete abolishment of slavery. No individual from any nation may be enslaved by any orc or otherwise. The practice of slavery must be completely destroyed, never again to be practiced.

The Orcs of Azaghol will remain outside of all lands of the Holy Orenian Empire, unless individuals of the race are given express permission to enter by the Emperor or the highest authority in the local region.

The Orcs of Azaghol must agree to adhere to the interests of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan, and agree to work within the terms of the treaty between the two nations. They will be prohibited from fighting alongside any enemies of the Orenian nation while this treaty stands.

Orcish Shamans of Azaghol must entirely forsake the ritual of shamanic cursing, unless for use in self defence. Laying any curses unprovokedly on any individual will become forbidden.

An Imperial Ambassador may be stationed within Azaghol to monitor the goings on within the orcish settlement and ensure these terms are upheld.

Any significant and organised attempt by the Orcs of Azaghol to subvert these terms, and the Grand Kingdom of Urguan agrees to respond as such,

To expel the Orcs of Azaghol from its lands, through use of military force if deemed necessary.

To revoke any rights of the Orcs of Azaghol to live within the jurisdiction of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan.

To not inhibit any efforts to punish said Orcs for breaking the aforementioned terms.

Eltahorran’okar

The Tahorran’okar were formed when the Warhawkes first settled in Axios. The idea first circulated in the mind of Dakath Ba’ikana, a loyal Warhawke who suggested a military force to protect the new nation. As various Warhawkes settled into their houses and tents Dakath, Parion, and Tahiti formed the basis of what would be the Tahorran’okar. The Tahorran’okar, or Hawks Guard in common, are meant to be the military backbone of the Warhawkes. While almost all citizens of Riv’vallel are expected to fight to defend their nation and tribe, the formation of an official guard and foreign expeditionary force was thought to be needed once the Saga of Riv’vallel started to accept non Warhawkes into the nation. With a new need for order came the thought of a group that would house both Warhawkes and non Warhawkes in their want to serve the nation.

A guard force is a thing of tradition in the tribe, the duty originally only given to the Ba’ikana of exceptional skill, known for their strength and scouting ability. The Cosmic Guard were the original guard of the Warhawkes, not something written onto paper but a tradition passed down by generations. Knowing this, the leaders of the Tahorran’okar place the Cosmic Guard at the leadership of their ranks. A warrior of the Warhawkes is traditionally equipped with either leather armor tanned from available wildlife or plate armor worn in traditional Warhawke fashion. In combat the Tahorran’okar prefer speed over strength, their plate armor worn with only sparse metal in order to be able to maneuver. The weapons of the Tahorran’okar are the traditional tomahawk, sword, or bow. Guards will have all of these available to them.

Rank System:

Cosmic Guard - The final say in the Tahorran’okar, these men report directly to the Chieftains for their orders but order the lower ranks of the guard to do their daily routines. The Cosmic Guard is a selective rank only fit for the most competent leaders and warriors. The current Cosmic Guard’s are Dakath and Tahiti Ba’ikana.

Elnealuir - These are the second highest rank in the Tahorran’okar, their job is to assist the Cosmic Guard in trialling the recruits, making sure they are fit for service. In addition they are to make sure the guards do their duty in protecting the nation and the city, a job similar to an overseer. These soldiers must also carry out the same duties as the Elokar’ii.

Elokar’ii - The basic rank of the Tahorran’okar, their job is to protect the citizens of Riv’vallel. They are to act as a guard force, honoring and enforcing the laws of the city and as a military force, serving in whatever foreign venture the Chieftains desire them to. A recruit must be obedient, strong and agile in order to serve, guards seen unfit will be removed or never climb the ranks.

In the middle of the magnificent city of Kal'Ithsul, the High Prophet of Urguan steps out of the temple behind him. His features show that he's aged, his once brown hair turning grey and his face, once filled with youth, now shows the hardships of an elder. Hogarth raises his voice for his speech.

"Greetin's citizens ah Urguan, friends, family, an' strangers. Et es nae question t'at as o' late ah 'ave been absent from teh goin's on ah teh Grand Kengdom. Fer maneh years ah fought soide tuh soide wit' mah brothahs, but my heart an' moind grow weary. When Ah t'ink back on mah toime as 'oigh Prophet Ah t'ink ah teh first days, teh meetin's Ah 'ad filled wit' Dwed eagah tuh serve bot' teh Brathmordakin an' teh Dwedmar. Weh built shrines tuh our Gods across teh four corners ah Urguan, from mountaintops tuh alleyways, weh made our love ah teh Brathmordakin known. Sermons were 'eld an' feasts prepared, teh best moment Ah can t'ink ah es when weh built our former temple, ah grand structure fit fer worship ah teh most 'oly. But teh temple, even wit' ets splendor, wus not whut made t'at place 'oly. Ets 'oliness came frum teh Dwarves who worked 'ours on end tuh make et ah reality. Weh 'ollowed out an entoire chunk ah a mountain en onleh ah stone deh.

T'is es just un reminder ah teh achievements Dwed're capable of, achievements t'at will continue until all ah us return tuh teh stone an' even beyond t'at. Duhnae stop yer ingenuity, yer intellect, yer search fer beauty an' teh divine. Ah'm steppin' down as 'oigh Prophet nut tuh benefit myself but fer all Dwarves who deserve ah High Prophet who will lead t'em en prayer, en war an' peace, but knows t'at teh Dwed're strongest when pursuing whut truly moves t'em. Fileh, know t'at wit' t'is trust comes responsibiliteh, duh nae onleh pursue activities yeh are interested en, but build up teh Clergeh's membership an' activity suh t'at all Dwed 'ave ah chance tuh, an' enjoy, participatin'.

With that, the Dwarf nods his head in thanks and waves to those around him listening, slowly walking off out of the city to his comfortable home, resting while the days pass by.
