"Do you offer repairs?" A rather tall fellow scribes this before sending a bird off to Metz, specifically to Karl Klagrus.

"Aye, I do repairs. I will send you a bird when I am in Metz to see what you need repaired." replies Karl, before sending off a bird to the man.

diamond armour wasn't rarer in asulon what are you on about? back then all you had to do was xray for an hour or legit mine for a few more to get a full set of diamond armour(edit: unless you're on about during vaq's skills plugin, which i cant remember very well tbh but was anything but vanilla). it takes a lot longer to mine and infinitely longer to craft now then it took back then, and the fact that it needs a recipe and an aengulic blacksmith means a hell of a lot fewer people can make them.

i agree that we should go back to vanilla as much as possible though. way more fun than nexus stuff

    0

I believe it was rarer then or as common then as it is now because of the lack of grinding that occurred then.

But yes we can agree that the more vanilla Minecraft has been, the better the PvP has been.

  5. Following the recent siege battle, several issues have come up regarding PvP and Nexus crafted items that are used in combat. While the defeat of the defenders can surely be blamed on themselves in a large way, the battle was surely decided by the use of various items by the attackers. These range from specific potions, arrows, enchants, and a certain type of armor. Whether you agree or not that these items should be removed, nerfed, etc., everyone realizes that they play an enormous role in the outcome of PvP engagements.

I have been on this server since August of 2011. That being said, I've have taken part in several wars over the years, under a range of plugins that changed and morphed how PvP functioned. At times, PvP was almost vanilla. Other times (such as now), PvP is completely different from regular MC. During the 2nd map (Asulon), there was a large war between the Orcs and the Dwarves. There were no potions, barbed or explosive arrows, alchemist fire, etc. Diamond armor existed, but was quite rare. Anyone that participated in that war can say that PvP then was more enjoyable than it it now. That can be said of most wars before such items that affect PvP so greatly were added.

The items in question are not easy to obtain. Whether it is diamond armor or whichever item in question, the materials are difficult to acquire, take a high skill to make, and require many hours to craft. This difficulty in making these items are meant to make them rare. However, certain groups on the server have dedicated their entire time spent on the server in making as much of these items as possible. This is in an effort to give them a huge, unmatchable edge in PvP. When someone looks into these groups, they will find little to no RP behind them. All of there time, effort, resources, and manpower is used to make them PvP items. I was even told by a member of the attacking side in the recent siege that they "had 6 blacksmiths spending a full month making that diamond armor".

When these groups go to war, they have a clear advantage against anyone. That is, anyone that doesn't do the exact grinding that they do as well. This would mean they too would have to spend almost every moment on the server crafting these PvP oriented items. This forces any group that would be militarily threatened by the PvP group, and that wishes to match their PvP ability in order to have a chance at winning when fighting them, to also have little to no RP behind them as well. This can turn into disaster when a roleplay server is now on the brink of losing it's roleplay mentality, replacing it with a PvP mindset.

That all being said, I am now going to list a few of the items that I see as issues when it comes to PvP. Also, this is merely a list of items I see as changing PvP dramatically. In my opinion, not all need to be removed/nerfed (I actually want diamond armor to just be harder to obtain, not removed), however I see that many people want various items from this list removed/nerfed in the event of changes to Nexus PvP.

    1) Diamond Armor

    2) Stoneskin Potion

    3) Smoke Whispers Potion

    4) Barbed Arrows

    5) Explosive Arrows

    6) Alchemist Fire Potion

    7) Sharpness Enchantment

    8) Protection Enchantment

  6. Farmers Needed!

*posters are posted across the various realms of humanity*

The city of Metz seeks out any willing farmers to tend to our fields. Vacant farmsteads are in need of occupants, and undeveloped land is ready to be used for any farmer willing to plow its field. Come to the city of Metz, taking the cart entitled "Lorraine", and seek out myself, the Maer if you are interested in a plot of your own land.

    THE METZ REPORT

    - WEEK THREE -

    Status: Active

    3I8phHr.png

    ====

    City Council Members:

    Maer: Karl Klargus (GavinTheViking)

Marshal: John Frederick de Capua (Gucko)

    Tavernkeep: Gawain ap Viktor (___Jacko_)

    Steward: Vacant

The City of Metz has witnessed a surge of new residents in the past year. The houses of all of the town's districts have been quickly filling up, leaving few vacancies. Its urban setting has also seen substantial commercial growth as well, with several new shop stalls being constructed. The prosperity of this fine city will surely have no shortage of mention in the third edition of THE METZ REPORT!

    = A SECOND WAR =

With the realm already engaged in a war against tyranny, the Horde of Dunamis has declared war on the people of Lotharingia. The band of brigands and mercenaries seek to pillage and steal from our great land. The Grand Army, along with numerous allied nations, stand ready to repel the barbarians. The two forces march to meet on the fields near Ponce, not too far from Metz. The time and the place of the battle can be found here.

    --

= THE RETIREMENT OF OUR BELOVED MAER =

As many of the residents may already have come to know, Humphrey Tullas has decided to step down as Maer. Although his tenure was one full of growth and cheer, he feels as though he desires to rest from his duties. In his place, I, Karl Klargus, will be moving up from Steward into the position of Maer. This then leaves the position of Steward open. If you are interested in filling the vacancy, please contact me by bird or find me in Metz. I would like for those reading to approach Sir Tullas and personally thank him for his hard work he has done to make Metz the bustling city it is today

NEW SHOPS, MOVED BANKER & AUCTIONEER =

    dT2OCDl.png

In an effort to boost economic activity, there have been several additions to the streets of Metz. These additions would come in the form of market stalls, located in the main square just outside the Waterfront District. There are still a few empty stalls that are FREE to any resident of Metz to fill. On top of that, the banker and auctioneer have been moved to the same square, giving the commercial center of Metz mroe access to those visiting our city.

    = MANY NEW FACES =

    JRpBZb5.png

In the past year, a great number of new people have moved to Metz. These include merchants, mothers, soldiers, craftsmen, as well as two large guilds. These would be the Marked Men, an group who expertise is hunting those that go bump in the night, and the Riders of the Mark, a mercenary company from the mountains of Urguan. I would encourage residents, both new and old, to make your neighbor feel welcome in Metz!

    --

= TAXATION ON THE HORIZON =

With a prosperous city, comes those that have laid its foundations and have built it up. That being said, while Metz does remain tax free for the time being, rumors have circulated of the implementation of taxes. While I can not confirm nor deny this, it is always wise to have a stable and steady income in the event taxation is coming. Although it may seem like a burden, the taxes raised from the citizens of Metz only seek to benefit them. The wages of the Grand Army, contracts for new building projects, upkeep and repair of the roads and walls- all can be paid for through our taxes.

  9. You're acting like LoTC needs Oren, when the server did fine without it. In Aegis and Asulon (parts of prior to Oren), the RP was great and wasn't at all dramatically improved by The Orenian Empire's creation. In fact, I recall many Aegis players saying that the server had way more people on back in those times, without an all powerful Oren. This may have been for other reasons, but it shows that Oren isn't crucial to LoTC's survival.

  10. Karl Klargus sits at his newly-made oak desk, taking his quill and bobbing it down into a glass of ink. He would look up from writing his nearly finished essay, saying out loud to himself.

"Imperial tyranny will not put down those it has neglected to protect. Men are ready to fight, for Courland and for John, God bless his soul. The tyrant Philip will know: we kneel to no man."

Karl would then smile, looking over his shoulder and seeing several men preparing arms and armor for future battles. He then would return to his quill and his piece of parchment.

  15. After playing an orc for a few years, and being blessed to be an Ugluk, I have a few ideas that would make the orcs an interesting race to play as and to interact with.

I'd like to see the race very aggressive to outsiders, as well as secluded in Orcish lands. They only ever leave their lands to trade, briefly though, and to raid. The raiding part more of though. I'd like to see the Orcs in kind of a constant state of hostility, kind of raiding who they please. No formal declaration of war is needed, and pillage warclaims can pop up on settlements near their lands. Alliance with other nations would be very, very rare. However, they could be paid "tribute" to fight in another's war.

Just a few thoughts I've had on the potential path the orcs could take. Thanks btw Pok for making this thread!!
