I'm an occultist by heart. If you are ever curious of the occult or an alternate spirituality of any sort, I'm usually able to help, and I welcome questions.
  1. I was considering just playing a male orc for easier roleplay(I've done male characters before, even though I'm female) and an easier time making the skin, but I had succeeded in making a feminine skin once before and again wasn't impossible. Usually I do play a human or elf, but a female orc is a unique roleplay challenge to combine masculine and aggressive traits with common feminine feelings and attitudes. It's fun. I don't think it'd attract many more players to the Orc race, but I think roleplay as an orc girl is surprisingly challenging and fun.
  2. ooc: I wouldn't be entirely opposed to leaner orcs -still more muscular and taller than an elf, obviously, but not everyone is an eight foot beefcake. Unlike Warhammer orks, which reproduce without any genetic diversity(or at least not very much) LotC orcs have been challenged by their environment and used selective breeding to develop a huge size, but selective breeding works both ways. Clever, fast, lithe, or even tiny orcs have found places in Orc society. More than a hatred for weakness and rampant violent urges, orcs call each other 'bruddas' for a reason. If someone can be useful, there is a place for them, as too few orcs are born and survive(we all know this IC and OOC) to chase off the meek but useful.
  3. ooc: I plan for; Wrestling 30 Archery 50 Cooking 75 Magic(divided between schools?):120 Extra 20 for emergency distrobution Orcs definitely need more cooks. I am *on the job*.
  4. OOC: When it comes to religion, I tend to see orcish religion as a mix between African and Scandinavian influences. The core of the religion would be practical, doing things out of respect for past family or enchantments to help in daily life, rather than the worship of any specific entity beyond Krug. Sacrifices are done regularly, as usual, to please ancestors and pay them for their protection and assistance. Lore is also stored in great libraries so that future generations will always know of the achievements of their ancestors, good or bad, and it is a duty of all shaman orcs to write of the lives of important orcs and the duty of all orcs to live by the lives of the best as a model of behavior. Most magic and religious ritual would be practiced by imitating and channeling the spirits of accomplished ancestors using masks, chants, and gestures or dances -think "Hero Quest", if you're familiar. These feats would(considered mechanically) temporarily boost one's strength, or bring down imitations of famous events, such as calling lightning like Krug struck down Or'ta or boosting one's strength like the most powerful of his or her ancestors. By channeling dead orcs with statues or masks representing the deceased, a shaman can also gain counsel(purely roleplay) on current issues like trials of justice or in simple decision making. The common channeling and evocation of ancestors isn't considered disrespectful, but rather encouraging, showing ancestors that they are always useful and never forgotten. This kind of system interests me greatly, because it is a system that grows like LotC's lore. As historic events happen, they have the potential to inspire a new spell, ability, or roleplay ritual that shaman orcs can develop and learn. If Mogroka were to pick up the entirety of Sanhar and shift it to the new world(not a suggestion please no mogroka don't lift up the city i live there) it could inspire a new spell to move blocks or designated cubes without breaking them, or a ritual involving carrying much sandstone from one point to another to gain favor in an ancestor's eyes. It also encourages budding shamans to study, and invest time into both studying old lore and writing new through monuments and libraries both, in the chance they might be able to suggest a new spell that is balanced and useful. The big trouble would be implementation. However, big changes are not truly necessary to the mechanics of magic, just new spells and new and better monuments to past events. And a library. I love libraries... `~` That's just what I think, though. If you have more input on how orcs should be, I'd like to hear.
  5. Out-Of-Character: -Minecraft Account Name: Horvathsaigyou -How old are you?: 18 -Time-Zone/Country of Residence: USA, Pacific Standard Time -Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: So long as I'm not excessively eloquent. (note to self; watch flowery language when playing orc) -Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I'm a student part time, studying to be a nurse in the short term and a 3d modeler and artist in the future. I haven't got a lot of time on my hands, but I like playing Minecraft. It's worth mention that my only bigger hobby is occultism and study of alternate spiritualities. -How much time could you be on the server weekly?: At least two hours a day, but probably more, depending on schedule. -How long have you played minecraft?: Since survival alpha, on and off. -What do you know about roleplaying?: I've done a lot of text-based roleplay, and a few sessions of classic pen-and-paper tabletop roleplaying games. This would be my first serious go at an online in-game RP environment, but the rules of IC and OOC are far from unfamiliar to me. -What do you expect this server will be like?: In general, I expect an overwhelming or desperate start, with eventual reward. The community I have seen to be bloating wildly, but small enough to make the people friendly and recognize each other -I like that atmosphere. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on a few PVP servers, but left mostly because hardcore survival tends to be less fair and less fun. I'd like the chance to talk my way out of some things. (watch the eloquent language, missy) -Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes, and caught up on the laws of various lands. -Name the 4 races on this server: Orc, elf, human, dwarf. (Undead? Ascended? Daemon, Angul?) -How did you hear about us?: On the minecraftforum.net topic, by chance. The big gradient bars caught my eye. -What is your The Lord Of The Craft forum account name?: Akael. In-Character: -Character Name: Akael ((Debating last name; tell me if it is necessary)) -What is your Race?: Orc. -Biography: The moment she was born, a few things set Akael apart from her peers. First, with a light frame(for an orc), she remained a bit less strong and durable than other orcs, but found uses for light feet and a flexible body elsewhere. Second was her gentle features, coming in only around adolescence. She took to concealing her diminutive tusks within her cheeks, and wearing human clothing, she almost passed as a human in the right light and right makeup. Third was a burning, passionate curiosity -the kind that could make a scholar, a scout, a spy, or a thief equally- but get her into trouble constantly. However, she mostly stayed out of trouble until her teenage years, when natural orcish bloodlust and stir-craziness struck her. Still muscular and lithe, her wrestling skills did not fall far behind her peers, and her studies with her clan's shamans picked up at a rapid pace. As she heard the stories or Or'ta, and even upon seeing his undead army as a child, she developed a profound respect for the orc who studied all he could to bring victory to his people, even though it cost him his soul. Shunned for this view by her immediate clan, she chose to pick up her belongings, and left her home to seek knowledge and adventure, carrying nothing but a knapsack and her own gusto. (( 1 of 21 cards in. )) -Character Age: 20 -Character Appearance: Small-framed for an orc, and lacking some orcish traits such as heavy tusks and a preference for being naked all the time, though still bearing the well-developed muscles of a runner and lightweight wrestler. She dresses in light, loose clothing, to make the desert more bearable, and oftentimes resembles a stereotypcial gypsy. -Character Personality: Brash and still a touch naive, but curious and fast at learning. Prone to fits of anger or sudden violence, sometimes despite herself. She sometimes asks a few too many questions, and gets herself in trouble for spying or eavesdropping. -Your ambitions: To learn magic of all kinds(including dark, if the chance arises), mature and grow through adventure, and to have a little dirty rumor and secret on everyone else. -Can your character read or write?: Yes, from her Shamanic tutelage. -Can your character mine?: Yes, if unpracticed. Prefers the open sky. -Are you a capable builder?: Only basic constructions, due to less carry weight than other orcs. -Can you wield a sword?: Yes, preferring wrestling -Enjoy Farming?: Yes, preferring hunting -Does your character have any special skills?: Sneaky and lithe for an orc, a bit of skill in magic, and can sometimes disguise as a human if she keeps her distance. -A screenshot of your skin: ((Please let me know if this skin is a bit too unlike normal orcs, or a bit too feminine. As there are no female orc skins, I improvised based on another skin I had on hand. Let me know if it's decent, too.)) http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/5793/20110918025230.png http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3325/orcgirlssjpg.png -Other Information: Can magic be detailed in an application? Exchanging skins acceptable for roleplay purposes? I hope I don't seem too evil, as well -it's naivete, lack of understanding, and potential temptation by evil, not an evil heart or practice of dark magic.(I wouldn't refuse the chance to learn dark magic, however.) EDIT: Give me a bit to get the post on the Minecraftforum thread. It's being amazingly annoying and not letting me log in.
