My computer almost met its doom this afternoon. Thankfully, my machine's a tough one, and I can happily say the Magnificent Microwave shall live on.

Mali'aheral Housing And Citizenship
Althallos replied to Mithradites's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Name: Domhnall Avern'iyath ((MCName)): Althallos Origins of your birth, and your place of living: I grew up among other Mali'aheral in an orphanage in Asulon. How can you declare you are Mali'thill?: The dean of my orphanage told me that my parents were pure Mali'thill, and I can believe so because the dean would not have accepted me otherwise. Why do you wish to become a citizen of our cihi?: I have grown tired of living a travelling life, and I wish to reintegrate with my kin. What is your personal vision for our blessed race?: I hope to see our race grow back into a community of excellent scholars and scientists, and I hope that I myself can be a contributing part of it. What does maehr'sae hiylun'ehya mean to you?: The phrase means to progress intellectually and technologically, while maintaining purity. There is particular truth in this statement in that progress is important, and that diverging from purity may only hinder said progress. What Elven phrase do you particularly take to heart? Please explain why: "Bilok fi'talar, bilok fi'taeleh" Which means literally; "To make new horizons, is to make a new mind." I find connection to this phrase because my hobby and skillset allows me to build and create new useful things, while expanding my mind to new possibilities. What is the subject of the first book you may submit to the college?: The first book I might submit to the college, if I ever publish one, would undoubtedly concern engineering. What would be your reaction if you ever saw a human, orc and unknown Mali'aheral travel the Anthos Highway together?: I would very likely move on, and take the appearance of my fellow Mali'aheral to heart, and inquire about it at a later time. Are there any other details about yourself you wish to relay to the mali’aheral?: Though I am by no means an expert in the field, I have some skill in engineering. -

In his travels, the young Jarek made many friends and a couple alliances. For a time, the mapmaking adventurer lived an adventurous, fulfilling life. However, his life would be annihilated as his friends were taken from him, one by one. Jarek was first torn from his new home in Asulon; Alras, when the dwarves retook it. After escaping to a small island nation called Holm, Jarek and his friends hid away there. Soon after, for reasons not entirely known to Jarek at the time, his close friend Anora Minesmasher, who he shared a home with, revealed that she was being hunted by a party of dwarves for her connection to a certain magic anvil. Forced to move again, Jarek and Anora did naught but move from safehouse to safehouse, until one day when Jarek awoke to find the safehouse dark, quiet, and devoid of life. As he searched the house, it became apparent that Anora had disappeared. As he realized that his home, one of his best friends, and his entire life was taken from him, Jarek fell into extreme depression. He spent many days sitting in the safehouse, falling into deeper depression. Some time into his moping, Jarek fell into a comatose state, due to lack of food and water. By luck, a travelling man came upon the unkempt safehouse, and found Jarek when he wandered inside. Jacque -A New Life- Jarek awoke in a countryside house, his vision fuzzy. He could barely remember a thing. He could remember part of his name... J...A... something, and aside from that, could only piece together faces of old friends, and something.... very painful that happened. A few minutes into the stupor, a robed man walked into the room. He identified himself as "Don" de la Croix, a travelling healer. Trying to introduce himself, Jarek stammered. "Uhm... I'm... Ja-... Uhh..." "Ja- what? You don't remember your name?" Jarek agreed with a slight shrug. "Well, what if I call you.. Jacque." Don suggested. "It was my son's name." Though he was put off slightly by the cliched name pass, as well as the implied father-son element that Don put forth, he accepted the new name. ...fast-forwarding a few months, Jacque had made a new life out of apprenticeship to Don, refining his medical knowledge to help the needy. Spending his days travelling, an d offering his assistance to the sick and injured, Jacque enjoyed his life in Asulon. (Jacque didn't do too much until Asulon was destroyed, so I'll skip the countless doctoring moments) ((The Temp Islands)) A new friend A few days after landing on Elysium, Jacque resumed his travelling doctor business. One day, as he approached a fortress to inquire about housing, he discovered a young girl sitting alone near the gate. The girl, named Marian, had apparently been wandering around for several days. She looked tired and hungry, so Jacque asked her if she would like to come into the fort with him, so they could look for food and lodging together. Luckily enough, the fort's residents were enjoying a small feast, and happily welcomed the two newcomers. After they'd eaten, Marian told Jacque that she actually had a home, but it was quite far away. Jacque offered to keep her safe on the way back, and they made their way towards a halfling village. They entered the burrow, and found it empty. Marian explained that her family hadn't been around for some time, and that she'd been living alone. As he looked around the house, Jacque found every cabinet dusty and empty, and what food he could see was old and no longer edible. Growing more worried for the child's safety, Jacque suggested that he watch over Marian until her family returned. After several weeks passed, it became apparent to Jacque that Marian's family, if they were even alive, would not return. During their time together, however, Jacque came to care very deeply for Marian, and took her in as his own child. They moved to a small house in Eyveror, where they lived calmly until the discovery and migration to Anthos... Artwork -Jarek- -Jacque-

The Passing of Randolph Leaning against a tree in the midst of Malinor, Randolph stood and watched the burning of a nearby inn. Those citizens who tried in vain to stop the fire scattered back and forth, buckets of water being unloaded by the ton. A call rang out, which Randolph heard clearly. "She's gonna blow, everyone get back!" With a sigh, Randolph looked more deeply into the building. His recent life played through his head. The destruction of his library The loss of most of his friends The emptiness in his own heart. A nod, and Randolph decided he had naught but unfullfillable hopes to live for. He took a deep breath, and charged silently toward the building. There was a flash of light, and Randolph's life played back once more. A reunion with his friends, and plans to build a library. Elation with the success of the newly opened Tuva Library Hope for the future *SMACK* Randolph rammed into a post, sinking down to a slumped, seated position. He gazed downwards, his eyes rewarded with the sight of huge chunks of wooden shrapnel jutting from his chest. A few minutes later, as he coughed and sputtered, an elf approached Randolph, attempting to assist him and call a healer. "N-no..." Randolph said.. "Just... Get me, Cir'dian.." As one of his last friends approached him, Randolph smiled with happiness. "Ah, my friend.. 's good to see you.." "You asked for me, Randolph... by name?" "Y-yes.." a cough, and a wheeze. "I w-wanted to say, Goodbye... before I left.." "I'm not sure there's much I can do here, to help you." "Ah-h... I'm past help now.." He coughs. And as he lay dying, Randolph spoke one last phrase to his dear friend: "Something.. tells me... deep inside..." He coughs up some blood. "That we will definitely... see each o-other a-gain... Some....d-a-ay....." A final breath leaves Randolph's lungs, and he lies back against the post and closes his eyes, a small and sad smile upon his face.... (( The grave built for Randolph, with *His ghost* standing beside it. ))

Atmospheric music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yV5uEmoRIo *As you walk towards the library, you notice a lack of light sources. The library looks like a cold shadow of itself, some windows broken, and others boarded over. There is a sign on the gates. "Attention: The Tuva Library has been closed indefinitely, due to recent violent activity, creature infestation, and additional undisclosed events." *You pass by the sign, walking into the library with a gleam of hope still in your heart. as you enter the library, you notice that the warm, papery smell of books and learning has been replaced. The library smells of mildew, and dust and cobwebs line the shelves. Only very few books remain on the shelves, and many of the torches have burnt out. A draft passes through the library, it sounds as though the building itself is sighing with sadness. You turn and leave the library, before its utter emptiness starts to bum you out too much. (( This post denotes the official disbandment of the Association of Robed Librarians. While it was a fun run, many of the members I started with have become busy with other things, and generally the rp around the library had slowed to a complete stand-still. Sorry to disappoint anyone, but i'm afraid that this is the end. )) ((I'll also request that this thread be placed into the Inactive Guilds page. ))

The Association of Robed Librarians (This picture is simply a lighthearted representation of our group’s members. Don’t take it too seriously.) General information. Some background music, if you'd like to listen!: The master plan of the Librarians is to gather as much knowledge as possible, said knowledge spanning all possible fields of research. The Association’s members venture out and study either in search groups, or independently, and then return to the Grand Library to document and share their gathered knowledge. Specialist members are generally expected to carry out research in their specific field, but in times of urgency, may document subjects not normally attributed to them Lore Background The Association of Robed Librarians was established in the final two years of the 5 races’ stay in Asulon, after a group of intellectual minds became concerned with the safety and well-being of the collective knowledges each civilization held. The idea to create a Librarian’s Organization (or Association, rather,) was itself created around a campfire, where many a sausage was roasted. After their meals were eaten, and their worries exchanged, those around the campfire decided it was time to ensure the protection of all worldly knowledge. With each person vowing to dedicate themselves to a particular field of study and documentation. From that day on, a small group of robed men and women could be seen travelling about Asulon, scribing down their experiences, and poring over books of any library they came upon Current Events After the escape from Asulon, the Association was scattered for a time, but remained vigilant in their collection of knowledge, in the hopes that they would find each other again. Recently, the Master Keeper of the Association, a man named Randolph, took the steps to bring his order back together. Posting Notices in each city he could, Randolph issued the call for his friends.. A notice posted on a nearby board Attention all those of the Association of Robed Librarians, as well as any literate and studious mind who may notice this post! This is a call to rally after our scattered exodus from Asulon! The Association is beginning anew, and you are needed once more to protect the knowledge of the world! Any previous Robe must do their best to convene at the location listed at the bottom of this post, and any literate mind who believes they might qualify to join us is encouraged to send in a copy of the adjoined contract to the same address! Thank you for reading, and Long Live Literature! -Randolph The Grey, Master Keeper of Knowledge ((PM me after acceptance for co-ords to our establishment.)) MC Username: Althallos Rp Username (be sure to include the correct prefix, look up on info thread): Ko'Fanzaan Character Skillset: Something of a tinkerer, he makes shiny bits and bobs as well as functional items, like kitchenware or specific building materials. Appearance (age, SUBRACE, gender): Fanzaan is a lightly-built, 37 year old male Kha'pantera. His fur is greyish-black, and is usually clean, save for the fur upon his head which always seems to be matted. He is usually spotted wearing a sash/waistcloth and a small waistcoat, its pockets always jingling with something. Personality: Fanzaan is very short-spoken with most people, Kharajyr or not. But if one were to break through his bubble of isolation, they could spark an interesting conversation with him, as he is usually very proud of the things he creates, and has a lot to say about them. When around close friends, Fanzaan is more warm and friendly, though his "Kha of few words" personality still presides over him. Please include a short bio of your character's life: -Fanzaan grew up in a small, lower-middle class family of Kha'Pantera. Though he grew up normally, playing with other cubs and learning about the ways of the Kharajyr, the young Fanzaan most enjoyed building things. When he found time to, Fanzaan would busy himself by carving small, decorative wooden items, or sharpening his father's hunting gear. Eventually some of Fanzaan's friends found out about the carvings and things they made, and he began to sell small carved totems and knick-knacks to his friends, as well as opening up a bit and selling to other Kharajyr around his home. -When the day of his Adulthood trial came, Fanzaan was nervous, though with some encouragement from his father and friends, he managed to pass. By this time, Fanzaan was well known for his small toys he sold, as well as the chores and repair-jobs he would do for his neighbors. Given the title of a Merchant-Craftsman, Ko'Fanzaan proudly set about his life. At first he spent his days in markets, carving treestump chairs or other furniture, and offering blade-sharpening to passers-by. -After some years of selling his trinkets and things, Ko'Fanzaan decided he would sell more useful things, and left the walls of Va’ Khajra with a fellow sales-kha to live in the wilds for some time, so he might discover ideas for things people would need. One night, while Ko'fanzaan and his friend napped in the shade of a hedge, He heard a rustle in some nearby bushes. Quickly darting behind the hedge, he took up a hidden position, tossing small rocks at his friend to try and wake him up. After some amount of rocks were thrown, and his friend did not awake, Ko'Fanzaan decided to simply hide from whatever large thing marched through the bushes. To his horror, a group of humans, wearing Red Tabards and carrying glinting steel weaponry, barged through the bushes and attacked Fanzaan's friend. After being wounded severely, His friend was tossed into a cart and carried away, never to be seen again. This single night of random attack by the human bandits sparked a hatred within Fanzaan. The image of the red tabard burned into his mind, Fanzaan swore, rather emptily though (Having little combat skill), that he would end the lives of any he saw wearing the cursed Red Shirt. -Withdrawing to his home, rather cautious of leaving from then on, Ko'Fanzaan resumed his life of peddling and repairing, though he dreams of avenging his kidnapped friend... Character's ambitions: Ko'Fanzaan gains something of an inner sense of pride when he makes a successful sale, and always seeks to better his craft and make more and more functional things to sell. He also carries the dream of one day avenging his old friend, though deep down he feels he is incapable of destroying the Red-Shirt men himself. _---Situational Rp Questions---_ 1. As you travel through the Karakatuan jungle, you spot a human trespassing on your nation's lands. He approaches you, obviously distressed, and asks for any food, water, or shelter that you can provide, then tells you that he has been lost in the area for days without any proper supplies. How do you react?: As Ko'Fanzaan walks through the woods, thinking up ideas for serrated woodcutting axes, he hears a human stomp loudly and carelessly through the woods. He crouches down slightly, wary and untrusting of the human's presence. The Man speaks, seeing Fanzaan walking about: Oh, Hello!? Please, Kind Kha, I have been lost for days! Can you point me towards food, or water? perhaps an inn? Fanzaan tilts his head, unsure of the human's true disposition. He purrs in some replacement of a ponderous humm, before asking. "Ko'Fanzaan woulda likeh to know... How deed ape get lawst een the jawngle?" The human only sputters, he seems very worn out. "I lost my way... I was just out for a hike..." Rearing back slightly, not too sure why a human would hike so far from home, Fanzaan retorts: "Maybe Ape shawld toorn back around awnd go back where eet came from?" With a surprised look, the human replies: "b-b-ut I'll never make it back like this! How can you send me off in a state like this?" Ko'Fanzaan quickly snaps, his claws extending slightly. "How cood Ko'Fanzaan do thees to the ape? He can do thees becawse thee apes did nawt ever do nice theengsa for Ko'Fanzaan! Een trooth, all apes ever deed was steel Ko'Fanzaan's friend! Saow, too reepay thee apes, Ko'Fanzaan will nawt help you!" The human begins to stutter; "But- but I ne-" Ko'Fanzaan stands at his full height, and hisses at the man. "Enawff! Ko'Fanzaan leeves the ape naow!." He turns and strides away, ignoring the humans plea for assistance. The man was wearing a red shirt... 2. As you romp through the lands of the "apes", you come across a tavern. Inside this tavern, a Dwarf notices you and starts gawking at you, then begins to speak. "Oi! I gots a bowl of cream for you, Kitty! Ha! I'd bet you would make a nice throw rug, wouldn't ya, ya mangy furball?!" He continues act generally as racist as possible. What do you do?: Looking down at the dwarf, Ko'Fanzaan notices that the stool the dwarf sits upon is rather poorly built, and could collapse if any further weight were placed upon it. Deciding to humor the dwarf until he can act, Ko'Fanzaan looks down to the dwarf, giving him the stink-eye. He notices that there is a nearby flagon of what appears to be milk, and a large side of beef on the counter. Fanzaan notes them, concocting some use for them. The dwarf continues to sneer, after stuffing his face with a muttonchop: "Well, you oversized housecat? Gon'ta talk thar!? Or would'ye like that cream after-all! Ha-ha har!" putting on the saddest face he can, Fanzaan looks at the dwarf. "Pleesa, dwarf. Do nawt eet so greatlee in frawnt of Ko'Fanzaan. He hass nawt had food fawr days." The dwarf breaks into a piggish grin. "Is tha' so, little kitteh!? How sad for ye!" Ko'Fanzaan makes several noticable glances to the nearby beef, ensuring the dwarf will notice. "Well!" the dwarf spouts, "Allow meh ta' finish mah meal!" He reaches greedily for the beef, hoisting it over to himself. Ko'Fanzaan takes his chance, and makes a small kick at one of the stool's legs. with a CRASH, the dwarf tumbles to the floor, and lands on his back, stunned. Ko'Fanzaan quickly snatches the flagon of milk, and starts pouring it over the Dwarf's face. Angrily, Ko'Fanzaan hisses, "Whoo likes-a thaw creem naow, fat ape!?" Tossing the now empty flagon on the floor near the very defeated dwarf, Ko'Fanzaan offers no looks to any other patrons of the bar, and storms out the door, a new pre-emptive dislike for the fat dwarves brewing in his mind. 3. One of your fellow Kharajyr and a close friend of yours comes to your dwelling in the middle of the night and begins to pound on your door. After you let him in, he confesses to killing another Kharajyr over a slice of cake. What do you do in response? Ko'Fanzaan is stirred awake by the sound of several raps at his door. "Ehh? Whoo wood wake Ko'Fanzaan at naptime?" Heading down grumpily to answer the door, Ko'Fanzaan finds an aquaintance of his shaking with worry. "Oh, hallo... Why bawther Ko'Fanzaan at naptime, hum? Pleesa, can eet wait until sunrise?" After Fanzaan attempts to wiggle out of the conversation, his friend explains that there was a drunken brawl over a slice of cake, and that the fight ended with the death of another Kha. His facial expression blank, if not extremely disappointed, Fanzaan looks towards his friend. "Ko'Fanzaan can nawt shield you frawm thee law. He is sorry, but Ko'Fanzaan knows, and [you] know wawt yoo mawst bee doeeng." After going into some encouraging explanation, Fanzaan manages to convince his friend to turn himself in, with the hopes that he will be excused for the accidental murder. The next morning, Fanzaan's friend is sacrificed during a temple Ceremony. Looking down somewhat sadly, Fanzaan mutters. "Well, at leest Ko'Fanzaan tried tew help." He shrugs to himself, trying to believe he did the right thing, and walks slowly towards his merchant stall. Do you swear to follow the Tlatlanni and uphold his law, and do you swear to hold Metztli and all of her actions as sacred? Indeed I do. Please include a screenshot or 3D render of your character's skin http://www.mediafire.com/view/?53q8q9gk4qf0za6 *Please note that if it is /completely/ unacceptable, I am willing to remove the coat. In-Character: Character Name: Domhall What Race are you?: Elf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): History: Domhall was born into a very dull family, many of his relatives scholars. He only got along well with his uncle Ricard, who regularly took Domhall to watch his fencing matches. When he was 12, Domhall's uncle gave him his favorite rapier, and a small tinker toy. These gifts simultaneously sparked Domhall's interest in trinkets and fencing: He began regularly training with his uncle Ricard, and spending lots of free time hunting for small knick-knacks and trinkets. Throughout his early teens, Domhall travelled from town to town with his uncle, searching through countless gift shops and general stores for clockwork toys and other trinkets. He eventually developed an Eagle's Eye for small detail, due to his countless hours spent looking for small objects in stores. his keen sight helped in his fencing as well, Domhall was soon able to beat his uncle in many of their fencing matches. Eventually, Domhall had become as skilled as his uncle, and Ricard suggested that he enter into a swordfighting competition. Domhall thought this was a perfect idea, and after a heartfelt goodbye with his uncle, hopped on a boat to the Cloud Temple. After a few days of asking about and searching, Domhall learned of a tournament that was soon to be held in a nearby city. As he approached the city gates, He took note of the pulley system that drew it up. At the entrance to the arena, Domhall signed his name onto the applicant's list, while receiving an annoyed look from the book-keeper: he had signed on late, after all. After a while, Domhall's name was called, and he was led out into the arena. Bringing out his uncle's rapier, Domhall took a deep breath, and stepped out to face the crowd, and his opponent. As many in the crowd saw Domhall's choice of weapon, eyebrows throughout the crowd raised questionably, and many a chuckle were had. The opponent, a human with a longsword, perhaps thought he had an easy win against Domhall's frail looking sword. Much to everyone's surprise, as the bell rang to start, Domhall stood patiently while his opponent charged him. With a hand behind his back, as Uncle Ricard had taught him, Domhall sidestepped quickly, parrying the mans blade. Annoyed, the man turned about to face Domhall, and swung at him once more. The cycle of charge, parry, dodge, repeated itself many times until the man swung wildly for Domhall's leg. Barely managing to knock away the swipe, Domhall was quite angry that the man forced him to break form. Bringing his rapier around to the mans face, the sword, not designed to slash, left only a small cut and a large red welt across the mans cheek. While the man was momentarily stunned from this painful riposte, Domhall took an opportunity and stabbed at the mans chest; being sure not to stab too deep. As blood stained the man's tunic, he screamed in surprise, and fainted, surely thinking his wound was fatal. Somewhere a man called, "This match's winner, Domhall the... Fencer!". With a laugh, Domhall bowed to the crowd, and made his way to the gate, happily accepting his match winnings and walking down to an inn to get some rest... Appearance and Personality: Domhall has somewhat short-cut hair, considered uncommon for elves, but thought by Domhall to be less interfering with his fencing. His eyes are a deep, dark green, and he almost always has a kind smile or an innocent type of look on his face. with a somewhat lanky build, Domhall's long legs give him a fast, long striding walk. Domhall is very humble, and is sometimes made uncomfortable even when he sees another person acting in a condescending nature. What are your Character's ambitions?: Domhall has a never ending fascination with trinkets, and wishes to continue fencing in tournaments. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): (Picture is attatched at the bottom.) Other Information about your Character: - Greets people very happily, as if he has been friends with them or knows them already. - While not "Educated," shows at least basic literary proficiency - Is allergic to cats. Open-Response-Questions Answer at least three out of five listed! Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?: Walking up to the warriors, Domhall clears his throat to get the warriors' attention. Domhall: "Hail you two armored lads, what's this business then?" The men drop the halfling, who trembles terrified at their feet. Warriors: "Scurry outta here, you, before ya get hurt." Domhall: "Mhmm... so why do you two big armored fellas beat on this poor halfling, eh? too nervous to go pick on someone your own size?" While he speaks to the two men, Domhall quickly looks to the halfing, motioning with his eyes towards the trees in the distance. The halfling discreetly acknowledges the motion, preparing to escape. Warriors: "Oh yeah, and who'd that be then.." Domhall: "How about me." Brings out his rapier, yelling "Go!" to the halfling. He makes a quick thrust at one of the men, trying to jab him in the eye... Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?: Domhall approaches the stall, looking about through the goods the man has, checking specifically for souvenirs. Domhall: "Aye, siwmae! D'you have any gearwork trinkets, or any little playthings about this stall?" Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Domhall steps through the musty hut, wiping a few cobwebs from the chest. Domhall: "Hmm... likely nothing valuable in this place... probably sacked long ago." Domhall shrugs, opening the chest anyways. Looking over the objects, Domhall takes little interest in them, though after a quick search around the hut's area, he returns and pockets one of the ingots, perhaps it will be useful for something later. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?: Domhall: "Siwmae, lads... Y'got any spare bits to eat? I've been lost for a while, and i'm quite hungry. I'd gladly trade some Mina for a bite." One of the traders, surprised that Domhall was not a passing bandit, and pleased with his politeness, trades Domhall for some bread. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Domhall hears word of the guards' request, and walks to the gathering. A guard calls his request through a large, loud crowd. A Guard: "...If any can help us be rid of these bandits, we offer good compensation! Can any help!?" Domhall: "Excuse me!? Would an extra sword arm be appreciated?" The Guard: "O' course! we'll be meeting at the gate shortly, head down there and meet with the regiment!" Domhall nods his head in acknowledgement, and heads down to meet the others...
