What group/playerbase are you most involved with? Haense, Empire Of Man

    Staff History

    None

    Ban History

Once for four hours in Vailor: Said Allahu Akbar, I apologized.

    Blacklist History:

Temporary Villainy Blacklist in Asulon, has since been lifted. No official report was filed.

Why do you want to join the Event Team?

Generate accessible and narratively dense events for general player base, and for smaller groups upon request. The Mordring events of Axios, Heroes Of the Interstice, and Mordskov event lines were the most notable events that inspired me to make this application.

Why should we accept you onto the Team?

I have been an active LOTC player and lore contributor since Aegis, September 2011. I've contributed to the server since I became a member, first conceptualizing and then co-writing the Adunian lore. I have a vast knowledge of the server, the community, and the lore/history.

What kind of events do you aspire to create?:

Low Fantasy mysteries/treasure hunts or High Fantasy monster hunts/dungeons/quests. I prefer to write and work on long-form events for groups as opposed to large, open events. Shorter events that involve critical thinking and problem-solving skills, in my opinion, are the preferred events that will help sustain active and interesting RP.

    What makes a good event?

A good event, in my opinion, tends to follow the Freytag pyramid and hopefully will follow narrative structure. Narrative driven events that involve critical thinking and choice have always appealed to me and I believe the majority of the server. If I were to be accepted to the event team, I would strive to create these types of involved quests.

Create three in-depth event scenarios. I’m not looking for some prelude or whimsical idea here -- we want an indicator as to your talent and potential to be on the ET. You don’t need to write a word-for-word script, but we want a solid structure and plan as to how you’d organize and carry out an event:

Event: The Candidate(This is a long one with 3 acts carried out over a week or so, so bear with me.)

Ongoing, open to people given proper Imperial Clearance.
Maer elections are underway in Carolustadt, and a radical new candidate is found brutally murdered in his home. The Candidate's bookshelves and desk have been flipped over, their contents rummaged through and lay strewn around the room, the word “Troublemaker” is carved in the headboard of his bed. Above it is a hastily carved Rose. There are several clues and potential leads inside the home, including the murder weapon, election flyers, his journal, an Elven civil rights manifesto, a Lorraine Cross, and a suspiciously cut up Holy Book of the Canon. The journal details events leading up to his murder, meetings, arguments with his staff, personal beliefs and greater plans. Through this journal we learn who our victim truly was.

Downstairs, the Candidate's widow is beside herself with grief and should you ask the right questions the right way, she could lead you to three potential leads: her husband's campaign manager, a local elven preacher, and his sister. All speaking NPC’s will be played by the ET, disguised as an NPC/wear skins for it.

The Campaign Manager is an angry elf, who is furious that the candidate has been murdered. He emarks that the Candidate liked to ruffle the feathers of the old regime, that he was a maverick and believed what he said. His connection to his cause and supporters was genuine, and he will praise the Candidate almost as much as he bashes the Opponent, an older more conservative candidate whom he accuses of corruption and racism. If anyone wanted the Candidate dead, it would the crooked Opponent. Further prying into the Campaign managers beliefs would reveal he is a student of history including the the dark elf genocides at the hand of the White Rose, the history of Oren’s Emperors and Kings. He would not say much about the Elf Preacher either than that he is good for votes, and that the sister is good looking. The Campaign Manager will become irritated at the question and refuse to answer any more questions.

The sister is saddened but unsurprised at her brothers murder. She describes him as a sweet man, but foolish for entering the political sphere in the first place. Despite that, she was an active worker on the campaign and would be seen handing out her brothers flyers in the square. If you ask the right questions the right way, she could give you more information and her feelings on the Campaign Manager, the Elven Preacher, the Widow, and the Opponent. If you perform well, she’ll invite you to attend the Preachers public eulogy for the Candidate. If you accuse her of any involvement in the murder, she will throw you out of her home.

The Elven Preacher is deeply saddened at the death of the Candidate. He describes him as a fast friend, and a passionate man. If you ask him all the right questions in the right way, he will reveal his thoughts on the Campaign Manager, Opponent, Sister, and the Widow. Before you leave, regardless of how you perform with the others, he will invite you to the Candidates public eulogy. He might also reveal his affair with the Candidates sister, but that depends on you. If you accuse him of having something to do with the murder, he will become slightly annoyed but will remain calm.

The Opponent is a gruff, busy man who will try to brush you off should you not convince him to speak to you. He will speak with begrudging respect of the Candidate, often referring to him as a fool who understands nothing of history and government. If you question his involvement in the murder, he will laugh at you and order you out.

At the eulogy, supporters and protesters have gathered. As the preacher is approaching the stage, a bomb underneath goes off and will maim or kill people near by. If the investigators were unable to deduce that it was the Campaign Manager, the Manager would be seen riding away from Carolustadt and they would have to give chase to the abandoned fort in Santegia. Here he rallies his spawned in Mob elf freedom fighters, and the pursuers and the Elves fight. The Campaign Manager dies, but the true leader of the elf freedom movement escapes.

    Event: Gold of Holm

Players: Open to all who are nearby, random encounter.

The wealthy city-state of Holm has become a healthy target for raiders and bandits. Nothing they can’t handle obviously. Yet when the scent of gold finds the Dragons nose, the city must scramble to defend against it. A cunning creature, the Dragon shall do more than just breathe fire on them. Instead, it will try to draw the citizens of Holm out of the city and into the fields. If they fall for this trick, the Dragon will land in the city barricade itself inside the mountain. Then the citizens will have to fight their way back into their city in order to kill the Dragon and save their homes and fortune.

Event: Feud Over The Thanium Vein

    Players:1-4

On your trek along the Haensian Highways, you stumble across an overturned wagon. The horses are dead, and mining equipment is strewn across the road. Upon closer inspection, you notice more peculiar artifacts such as respirators, thicker gloves, specialized pickaxes, etc. You follow bloody footprints into the forest until you stumble upon two men brawling, with a third dead with a knife in his side. The two men stop fighting and begin to accuse in front of you each other of killing the third man for the title of the untapped thanium vein. Each man will claim innocence in the murder. You must choose who is innocent and deal with the consequences of your actions. All outcomes are based on their accounts and your judgment of them. If you decide that Man 1 is the killer, you’ll help Man 2 kill/restrain him. Man 2 will thank you for your help and begin to set up his mine, gifting you some minas for your help. If you decide the opposite, you'll be told that Man 1 is a Dark Magii who hoped to utilize the vein to create bombs. Man 1 will then summon mob monsters and try to kill you for your foolish choice. The number of mobs that will spawn depends on how many people were to attend. Once Man 1 is dead, you can loot him/Man 2 for your prizes.

  3. I've known Kinslayer for quite a while and he's proven himself to be an efficient, dedicated and thoughtful player who can be a great asset to the community. His excellent work formatting the Adunian page is a clear example of what he can do for the wiki as a whole and I believe wholeheartedly that he deserves this job. +1 from me!

  4.     In the deep quiet of his dimly lit home in Bastion, Braehn lurches over in a cheap wooden chair and begins sharpening his Nivinese Bowie Knife, Varmir's Toothpick. This long blade has seen him through every scrape and siege against the spooks since he made the move Westward, and he begins to ponder just how many more days he has in this fight. A youth by Adunian standards, not many could guess his true age. Nor would many care to try, his presence in the Kingdom being a sore spot for most folk. Regardless, sixty-seven years of fighting on this earth and the last one have not been kind to him.

"I'm so tired." He states under his breath as the blades' edge now starts to take proper form once again. With every stroke against the whetstone, the thoughts of uncertainty and doubt begin taking a hold of him and wrap around him. The painful memories of the friends lost in the sacking of the caravan, the failure of Avar and his people as a boy, the death of Aliana. The knife slips and he cuts his palm, his distractions getting the better of him once again.

"Vlaagt!" He howls is pain, hurling the stone against the wall. As he goes to wash out the wound a sharp rapping is heard against his door, a young boy raising his voice on the other end.

"Sheriff, I've got a letter for you." Gritting his teeth in pain, Braehn stands up and goes to the door. Pulling it open, he offers a small rather insincere smile to the boy before taking the letter.

"Many thanks Billy, say hello to your parents for me." He says, before retreating inside. As the door closes behind him he unfurls the scroll and begins to read, trying his best to ignore the small stream of blood now pooling on the parchment. He nods a few times to himself as he reads, before grabbing Varmir's Toothpick from the ground with his right hand.

"Good enough for now." He says before sheathing the blade. Setting the now scarlet stained parchment on the table, he opens the door and sets out into town to go find Roland.

  5. Braehn sets down the dossier on his desk, sighing. He pinches the bridge of his nose in annoyance and closes his eyes. He turns to Deputy Sheriff Gavin and opens his eyes."Round up the Rangers, we're going to find Argyll and his boys." Gavin gives a solemn nod before getting up from his desk. As he reaches for his crossbow mounted on the wall, he turns to Braehn. "You think they're still kickin', Sheriff?" Braehn rises from his desk, contemplating an appropriate answer. "We'll see, Gavin. We'll see."
