Ten years, four days and a handful of hours ago, I joined Lord of the Craft. I had started playing Minecraft the year before and had paid real money to play on Tales of Mel-Lenxia: another popular roleplay server. When it shut down permanently, I decided to come check out this place. Needless to say, I've stuck around.

I joined roughly two weeks before Aegis ended; I have been a part of every major map since then. In the spirit of this horrifying achievement of what I can only define as a Stockholm-esque dependency, I open the floor to you wonderful folks to ask me questions about my time on the server.

    Thank you.

  2. Prince Amaesil smiles softly as he reads the missive. He pens a short response.

"The sun shines brightly this day. The heart of the mali’ame has been returned to its rightful, ancestral home at the center of Elvendom. The natural world sings out in a joyous choir at the arrival of these faithful servants of the Aspects. The Circle of Crows has the utmost support and protection of the Princedom. Asul lente karinto."

thank you everyone! ok I am in American Pacific time. I like elves in general, but I'm open to other things as long as it's not evil...     also I don't really want to be a Dwarf I guess. but I'm open to me and elves and halflings and whatever else. I wonder if being some kind of traveling trader would work... that might be cool. would I need a specific group for that? i don't really know how that would work anyway.

Nope! You don't need to be a part of a group to do some great stuff on the server: trading and traveling included. I'd recommend just finding some items and going city to city selling and doing some fun roleplay. If you need any help, there are a lot of folk able and willing around the server.

Prince Amaesil nods. "Big, if true!"

She then smells cookies and goes to do kid stuff.

Prince Amaesil looks toward Amura as he hears her speak these words. "Because it is not our job to do as they would. We must be better elves for the new age. We must be willing and able to give our enemies the luxuries that have never been afforded to us. That is what it means to be a symbol, Amura."

Thunder and lighting. BOOM! CRASH! BOOM!

Amaesil felt the natural world scream out in pain. Phantom lesions opened down his flesh like a tidal wave. He screamed, but found himself choking on a thick, metallic-tasting ichor in the dark vacuum. When all hope seemed lost, the light returned.

The young prince sprang from the forest floor. Cool air rushed in and out of his nose as the panic tempered; his wild eyes looked around the unfamiliar brush with confusion and fear. As he began to calm, his ears flicked. Then, they flicked again. Nature was no longer in pain. In fact, it sounded much different to what he was accustomed to. Where am I? he thought. Amaesil stood at the center of a wet glade surrounded by towering trees. The voices here were softer; nature seemed younger. As he pondered, shouts began to reach him. They came from further in the woodland. He set out to find the source.

“Is this all that returns?” a voice asked. Amaesil broke through the brush to find a group of elves wearing strange armor. They were foreign to him, and none looked his way no matter his attempts to speak. Can they not hear me? Can they not see me?

“Nearly,” a high elven man responded. He strode forward and knelt down beside an injured elf who was propped up against a tree trunk. “The Wardens came just in time, but the Princess wished to stay behind to speak with the Warlord. I pray she is not captured again.”

The Wardens? Amaesil thought. Is this something that has yet to pass? No. These are not my Wardens…

“What do you believe will come of this?” another Warden asked. “Will the Children of Sanjezel and the Elvenfolk finally unite against the northern doom?”

“Ti, they will,” a new voice sounded. The Wardens turned to see an approaching elfess. Her hair was alight with stars and her bright, blue eyes glistened like sea stones. She wore plate armor covered in ash and blood. She smiled, and Amaesil’s heart began to ache with some unspoken love and familiarity. “A new age of resistance began this day, lliran. A pact has been signed and an alliance against Iblees now stands at the ready. There will be time for celebration, but let us focus on the wounded until we reach the city.”

Iblees, Amaesil repeated. Then, he awoke in his bed.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Templarism

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

To be a Templar of Malchediael is to be blessed with the might and strength of Courage. Templars are divine fighters who are given great strength and power from the Aengul of Courage to live as he intends: as fearless and heroic bastions of the martial arts. While sometimes likened to Paladins, the Templars have no holy healing or overwhelming ability to fend off the forces of chaos and corruption; instead, Templars utilize their gifts to bolster their combat prowess on all fronts.

The magic operates on a system of utilizing Malchediael's light. Each spell requires the utilization of this light in some capacity, save for some of the aesthetic spells (Enthralling Recount, Rumination Reflection, etc.) and Bound Armament. This light is used to blind opponents, add kinetic force to weapon strikes and breathe final life into a Templar during their final fight. Even where the light is not seen, the blessings of Malchediael is still around. A templar is expected to act courageous (as per Emboldened & Disheartened) and use this magic to fight and grow stronger in combat.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are no subsections of the magic thus far.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Vigorous Blow - T4

Amaesil's brows furrow. He draws his star-steel longsword as he takes in a deep breath. His fist tightens around the hilt of the blade as he stares ahead. "Courage, grant me strength..."

Tendrils of white starlight would begin to form across the Templar's right gauntlet. They drip down like thick droplets of water and begin to form near his wrist into a band of shimmering light.

Amaesil hefts the weapon to a striking position as air fills his lungs. His fist tightens across the weapon's hold as the light begins to drain from his gauntlet into the sword's blade. The light begins to spread upward in inky vines; the light shines brighter and sets the area aglow.

Finally, the sword flashes a brilliant white! It would glow white-hot with the wrath of Courage and hum with potential energy. The elven prince flourishes the blade once before advancing forward with intent to strike!

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Fervent Flare - T2

"To summon the light of Courage is no easy task, llir," the elven prince would say toward his young ward. He extends his hand with a hum. The tendrils of light would reform and condense into a single ball of glowing light in his palm. "As in druidism, to summon the light is to ask it of Courage. It is his power, and we are simply the conduit by which he exacts his will in the world. A prayer or a burst of necessity seem to often do the trick for me. Go ahead, llir. Try it."

Amaesil grins as his apprentice summons the light. "Good," he says, stepping forward. He points forward at the distant stone wall. "Do you see that? Aim with your arm; as if throwing a ball. Make certain your aim is true."

"Now, throw the flare forward!" he bellows. Unknowingly, he would shift his position and look away from the impact sight of the flare.

A laugh erupts from the Templar as his ward collapses from the blinding blast. He kneels beside them and lifts them to a seated position. "You did very well. Make certain to close your eyes and give your compatriots a warning if possible. Keep in mind that most creatures will be aware of the flare's affects if you warn your kin in battle. Now, rise tall. We've sparring to begin."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

On a first offense, I would simply speak with my student in VC or over Discord and explain how to properly format the casting emotes to avoid power gaming. If they continued to abuse the magic and power game, I would delay their future magics until we could perfect their ability to emote in-game. I have high standards for the people that I would accept teaching this magic.

Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it:

             No.

Do you agree to keep the ST updated on the status of your magic app?:

             Yes.

Have you applied to teach this magic on this character before, and had it denied? If so, link the app.

             No.

  11. "Courage smiles down upon the bold and honor bound," the prince would say to the elves in the square. "The duel will be to first blood, I am sure, but to settle something like this in such a manner favors the one who declared the challenge. I have nothing but the highest respect for the mali'fenn people; they aided us immensely during the Razing of Amaethea and Prince Vytrek has been a good friend to myself and my people."

The prince pauses. A frown forms. "But the words of some of his kin makes my skin crawl. I pray the Tathvir grows enough of a spine to stand and watch the pride of Hawksong prove her point clearly with ferrum in hand."

For a while I stared at this Admin response and topic, and tried to wrap it all around my head. There is no easy way to start a conversation like this, and it is a hard pill to swallow. I think many people right now are taking two sides. One, it's the Admin's fault. Two, It's the player's faults. I can see the arguments for both sides and see why people take them. Its easier to blame admins, and while they did sit on the Issue of KP for a while, the Community also has an impact. They could have gladly, and easily, ejected him from the community for being a creep. But from what everything I see here, is that both sides are at fault.

Little do I see a time where predation isn't joked about on the server. Hell I do it myself. I consider myself a part of the problem where we make fun of people's horrible experiences. I don't think a simple post, video, or well thought out argument is going to change that in many people. This community, admins included, have worked their best to try and oust pedos and creeps, groomers and typical discord admins has best they can. But my problem is, how fast is this conversation going to die out? Will next week go back to normal? Everyone joking and laughing, while letting these vile people have some sort of platform?

As us the players, it is our job to help our own communities. We are supposed to band together to have fun, as well as keep each other safe. With this issue, many communities have shown that they failed that. It hurts my heart to see. Seeing Dingo and Treshure battle it out in his video post disgusted me, considering it was two prominent people in the community who both want the safety for others lashing out at each other. This is a breaking point. LOTC needs change. Perhaps a qualified safety team, one which is made up of individuals who know how to investigate and speak to others so they can find the groomers and pedos. Maybe safety protocol, maybe this and that. I'm not one for a solution, but I am one to speak.

I've seen many players be the subject of awful things. I hold guilt for it. I've been friends with horrid people who should have never been here in the first place. Remembering the times where I brushed over people cause I was a teen who didn't care for others hurts because I know I could have at least done something about it. So, I take my stance. All parties are at fault. Something needs to change. Cause if it doesn't, then next week we will go back to forgetting that this ever happened and making jokes, while our younger side of the community is hurt, exploited, and their safety is taken from them through a god damn game of blocks.

    Well said.

We need strong administration and strong player leaders to make this work. @Bhased has spent an incredible amount of time and effort to make sure that creeps are ejected from our community. He works in tandem with administration to make sure it happens with as little delay as possible. We need to agree that harboring and justifying people like this in our communities is not okay and start to report.

Within this week alone, I have heard multiple people talk about communities I actively roleplay with having a significant population of pedophiles and sex pests. I do not know the validity of the statements, but to be told that I could be interacting with people like this daily with others knowing was a harsh wake up call. It is time to take this into our own hands instead of dancing around the subject.
