The Normandorian Sentinels (Malinorian Guard) Updated
Ithil replied to Ithil's topic in Inactive Guilds
Updated: 13/02/2012 Update Notes: The Guard has been overhauled and remoulded to reflect the new role the Capital will play in the Malinorian Military. We now have a key role in that Military and will form Cohorts of it. The ranks have been changed to reflect this more international and kingdom presence. The New Structure is as follows: Normandorian Sentinels: -Initiate -Guardian -Sentinel -Sentinel Captain Also I have introduced an Auxillia. These are fighters led by independant Captains who have sworn allegiance to the Captial and to the Princedom of Malinor: -Auxillia Captain -Auxillia Ranger These modifications are to represent the new Kingdom responsibilites we assume as capital and will be developed further as our population grows. Rates of pay will be scaled upon population and could mean Sentinels will eventually be paid around 1000 minas a week, if not more! So now if the perfect time to get involved! -

The Normandorian Sentinels is the grand fighting force residing within the Malinorian Captial of Normandor. It is destined to be one of the greatest and most effective fighting forces in Asulon. Not only will you have the duty to protect the Capital from aggressors you will also be included in the Malinorian Army and form a crucial role within that force. There are great riches to be made, you will be given the opportunity to take part in key military manoeuvres and prove yourself as a hero of Malinor. Do you have what it takes? You enter a tavern, as you approach the bar you feel a chill, you are being watched…You notice a shadowed figure in the corner of the room. He beckons you over to take a seat. “I am a Sentinel of Normandor, you look like a gifted warrior. The Elder City of Normandor could use a skilled soldier like you.” He explains who the Sentinels are over a tankard of Dwarfen Ale. The Sentinels of Normandor protect the sacred Elder tree from all whom would challenge her. They are charged with the defence of the Malinorian Captial and will defend all of Malinor in times of war! The Great Tree City of Normandor is a bastion of Elvish strength but we welcome all who will swear the great oath. As brothers in arms we strive to ensure the security and prosperity of our city and of Malinor. Harbingers of death to all who would oppose Her, paragons of justice to all who defy Her, protector of Her sanctity. A life of the Sentinels is difficult, yet rewarding. Normandor is one of the finest cities in Asulon, it is a great honour to serve here. You can expect regular payment, equipment, awards and training. EVERY member has started as a Warden and proven themselves worthy of hirer title. At the end of the conversation the Sentinel hands you a book. You read what appears to be the Oath of the Sentienl. Below it you see signatures of the protectors of Normandor. Will you sign? Requirements and Equipment: Initiate: Must be race friendly to the Elves. All must start at Warden level, but more advanced players can expect to pass through this rank quickly. Provided with basic equipment and pay. The Initiate will have basic guard dutys, man the towers, gates and look outs and form interior security roles. They form the third line in all Kingdom war parties. They are mentored individually by a Guardian and Sentinel. Skills: 5 Sword/Axe Skill Equipment Given: 1x Barrack Room (Bed, Chest, Facilites Access), Wooden/Stone Sword/Axe & Bow Payment: 60 Minas p/w (Will increase as settlement grows) Guardian: As an established Guardian you will have proven yourself worthy to the Guard command. More senior duties, pay, and equipment will be provided and you take on a Warden to train. Duties include interior and exterior patrols, removing the mobs. Ensuring the Island and tree is secure. You will also be expected to perform Guard and escort duties, working with the Sentinels. Kingdom patrols and protecting our expeditions into the wilds will be a part of the role. The Guarduians will form the front and second lines in any war party dispatched by Normandor. It is here you will begin your journey to be admitted into the sentinels. Base pay is negotiable depending on seniority. This is indeed an exciting role and can be quite exciting. Skills: 40 Sword/Axe Skill, Completion of recruit training. Equipment Given: Iron Sword & 10 Arrows Payment: 135 Minas p/w (Will increase as city grows) Expectations: Guards will mentor 1x Initiate as well as other duty’s. Sentinel: The Sentinels are the backbone of the Normandorian Sentinels as their title would suggest. The individuals have not only proven themselves in the field of battle but have contributed enormously to both the forces and the City. They can expect huge reward and privilege but have expectations to match. Sentinels will have their own Quarters. They have a large amount of responsibilities from training to fighting. They will each have their own Guardian and oversee two Initiates, acting as their squires. They will perform advanced Guard actions as well as other tasks which will be discussed on acceptance into the Sentinels….some duties are best kept secret. Every Sentinel is an officer of esteemed rank, and will lead their own section in any war party dispatched by Normandor. The skills required very on path taken and ARE negotiable, below are expected guidelines: -Of the Bow: 75 Bow Skill -Of the Sword: 75 Sword Skill -Of the Axe: 75 Axe Skill -Of the Shadows: 50/50 Sword/Axe and Bow Skill -Of the Arcane Arts: 75 Magic (Pending Implementation) All members of the Sentinel are gifted with a Golden weapon of their choice and 30 arrows. Their pay depends on the service they offer to the Guard. Each Sentinel will oversee and mentor a Guardians as well as 2 Initiate. Captain of the Realm: A truly coveted role, highly prestigious and hugely rewarding. This person must display tremendous leadership. He will be the High Commanders eyes, ears and voice. He will lead the Sentinels in to battle and organise the cohorts in preparation for war. Truly the commander’s right hand man and the most important Sentinel in the army. This role is a huge responsibility but hugely rewarding. The eyes of Malinor will be watching you. Do not let the Kingdom or Normandor down! Captain of the Guard: This Captain is responsible for the command of the Sentinels in Normandor. His role is also highly commended and he works with the Captain of the Realm to ensure the Sentinels are ready for war. He also ensures the Initiates and Guardians are put on the right path to becoming Sentinel. He must command respect and have real leadership abilities. A Sentinel of high status and great responsibility. Captain of the Auxillia: This Captain is responsible for the Sentinallia Auxillia. He is to oversee recruitment of all forces that reside outside of Normandor. He is responsible for their training and equipment and answers directly to the High Commander. He collaborates with the Sentinel and Realm Captains in times of war. This Captain forms a vital external link and is truly invaluable for the Kingdoms external security. He may promote those in the Auxillia up to the level of Guardian. Following that promotion must be granted by the High Commander. Additional Support Roles: To apply for these roles please take the Oath. But post a simple reason why you think you would be good at these roles. Blacksmith: Will be paid a negotiated fee for all repair services. Commission on repairs will also be negotiated. He will be responsible for the provision of weapons, armour and repairs to the Guards. He will be provided with materials to do so. But will also be paid and expected to find and pay for his own. He will be reimbursed for all supplies. Magistrate: An administration role, paid handsomely for his scholarly ability. Will work with the Normandor Librarian and document the activities of the Guard. The Magistrate is an elder and will show any new recruits around. He is a senior figure and to be respected as such. He is a voice of the Commander and will provide council on all issues with the Guard, from tactics to infrastructure. Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: NeoAnderson Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No How old are you?: 21 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: GMT:London - England Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Indeed I do Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I’m a 21 year old recent post graduate currently studying for accountancy qualifications. I am a semi-professional actor on the side and enjoy a good musical. I would describe myself as sociable, creative, personable and well….fun! How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Currently between 10-15 hours What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: To me roleplaying is a lot of things. First and foremost it’s the thrill of playing a character of your own creation. It’s rare to find such freedom, such opportunity for expression and such chance to live in a way dictated purely through your own imagination. You live as that object of creativity, interacting with others on the same planes of thought. Understanding that everyone is there to further the sense of realism within the fantasy world, working together to create a unique identity for what you find yourself journeying through. Whether on your own or with others you forge a story….your story. Every step taken opens up a whole range of opportunities to live out your own imagination. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are.Metagaming and Powergaming are abuses most common in junior roleplayers or those out to deviate from the rules. MGing is essentially the use of OOC materials to influence IC actions. Information, exploits, communication gathered outside of the game should not be deployed to influence IC behaviour. Discovering a map of some magical ruins on the internet and then following this map in game would be a prime example of such. PGing contains different physiological and material elements. Creating unsustainable and unfair attributes to one’s character is a common example of PGing. Seeking power, at all costs, at the expense of others, the lore/law and indeed, the enjoyment of others, is a form of PGing. Any action which inhibits the action of another, unfairly, can be deemed as power gaming. Deciding your sword has an un-blockable, all damaging buff that will render any opponent defeated without them even being able to respond is an example. More materially, abuse of in-game mechanics giving unfair advantages can also be considered a pseudo form of PG/MGing. What do you expect this server will be like?: If what I have been told is correct…a true adventure, unique in the minecraft world. Offering four races, in depth social role playing backed up with a formidable game lore, it should be a real experience. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Sadly haven’t dabbled in minecraft RP. However I’m a big fan of MUD’s in general and wanted to try out something a little more interactive. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes I have How did you hear about us?: Looking through the minecraft forums, saw the thread, couldn’t refuse! Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes I have, couldn’t seem to find the vote number however. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Ithil In-Character: Character Name: Ithil What is your Race?: Elf - Dark Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Ithil, a Dark Elf, hair of dark ebony and eyes to match. Tall, well built, yet nimble, his elfish heritage clear….at least in physical aspects. His skin is dark, twilight grey, a true trait of his race. His features are in general an amalgamation of generations of his family. However, the dark ebony hair with the eyes to match were a trait his family had become known for…whilst in Aegis anyway. His skin was paler than it was in the days when he walked the lands of Aegis, a mere infant of his kind. His ebony hair ragged, his eyes jaded, the lands and times have taken their toll on Ithil, this is clear. His face showed he was missing something even if his words did not…He wore a mask to cover the lower parts of his face. Ithil has always enjoyed perpetuating an image of mystery; his clothing most definitely reflected it. Ithil is only 212, still young by many eleven eyes, although he holds little regard for neither the concept of age nor the social connotations it brings. Ithil, like all those whom escaped the verge, did so in desperation. Forced from Aegis he, along with his mother, father and brother boarded a ship to sail to Asulon. His brother, Ethil was a mere 15 years younger than him. This was a close gap by elven standards and the bond they shared as a result was somewhat enchanting. Their mother Itheelen was pregnant, the family believed it to be a third son. Indeed the sight of a pregnant elf was rare and many of the other passengers felt uneasy with her on the ship. Ultimately this voyage cost Ithil dear, it cost him his family, it cost him a fragment of his very being. Weeks into the sail, after unnerving times of trepidation, a bird had landed on the ship, a message attached to its leg. “Land, we have found it, it’s here…salvation!” The first of the ships had made it to Asulon and was sending messages to harbour the others in to the new lands. Ithils ship, full of elves of all types, became busy and lively. The Captain gave the orders to unleash every sale and speed their arrival to Asulon. However, the uncharted waters of the Asulon shoreline proved to be treacherous. None could have foreseen the disaster that occurred in this land of mystery, in these waters of secrets. As the shoreline of Asulon appeared on the horizon the ship struck rocks, ripping through its hull, terror rippled through the hearts of the passengers. The impact caused the rigging to bend and snap, the main mast fell, wood splintered all around. Ithils parents were struck… Ithil ran to their aid, his brother too. The ship buckled. Water was entering from all angles. The main deck was a mess of passengers and crew attempting to escape. Ithil was relentless in his goal, he must save his parents…at all costs. He glanced at his brother, their ebony eyes burning, determined. They fought through the wreckage and reached their parents. Ithil reached for his mother’s hand…she was week….too weak. His father too, frail and broken. The boat buckled further. Ithils parents looked at their sons, “Ithil, take your brother and escape this wretched ship, long may you live in peace never to know the torments of Aegis come to pass in your lifetime in this new world.” Every fibre of Ithils being told him to stay with his family….as the truth has it he still wishes he had stayed….he ran, followed closely by his brother. They reached the main deck. The ship buckled one final time, a torrent of water came crashing over the deck knocking Ithil and his brother to the floor….hours passed…through Ithil’s unconscious mind passed images and horrors of the void, taunting him, engulfing him. He awoke, in darkness….alone…on the shores of Auslon. That day still haunts Ithil, it damaged his very soul. Since that day Ithil has not set eyes on his brother…nor his family. Ithil searched the shores of Auslon for days, weeks, months and years for his brother. The more he felt his brother’s absence the more he became absent himself. The thoughts of the void plaguing his dreams. Over the years Ithil has come to terms with his past. His strength and elfish resilience grew as he became acclimatised to the new realm of Asulon. He wants to live, as his father had told him, in freedom and indeed happiness. Although Ithils past has worn his character and his very being, he continues on. Everyday Ithil grows closer to personal redemption. Perhaps finding peace amongst his own people will help him become all that he was, once more. Your characters ambitions: Although the thoughts of finding his brother will always be with Ithil, he wants to seek peace and satisfaction amongst his own people. He wants to belong again, be part of a community. Live his life, make friends, adventure and find himself once more. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? Ithil would quickly survey the situation, but would not straight set to combat. He would step out in front of the elf, saying nothing. Putting himself in between the elf and the bandits. Ithil loved his sense of mystery and found it produced the answers in many situations. He would see who moved, who acted and the act himself, questioning everyone’s intentions. Knowledge is power. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? There was a time when Ithils first question would be “have you seen an elf, an elf who looks like me.” However Ithils image no longer reflected the similarities he and his brother once shared nor did his mind dwell on the hope of the answer being yes anymore. Instead Ithil would ask for the local stories and news, he likes to know his surroundings, especially about those who dwell within it. A screenshot of your skin: http://i.imgur.com/Y8CMI.png Other Information: Ithil is an adventurer through and through. Although reserved he is personable and sociable, wanting to leave his tormented past behind and simply live…once more.
