Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: retune Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No, I did not attend minecon. How old are you?: 14. Time-Zone/Country of Residence: +8GMT - Hong Kong SAR, China. Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I have spoken English for as long as I can remember, so yes. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a shy person and pretty much ‘suck’ when it comes to socialising, but I am respected in academics, and ironically gaming. I am an individual. I can and am used to handling myself in many situations. Finally I am a pessimist. I won’t deny it, I am still trying to get out of the habit of pointing out the bad, as opposed to the good, but in time, I will change. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: My time will vary based on many factors. I'm guessing at least 10 hours a week if I dedicate most of my free time, less if I have exams or work, more if I am free. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying in my terms is an art. A complex form of art. After playing countless rpg's and watching shows for years, I have come to realise that role playing isn't just a pointless waste of time. It takes a lot of effort to make a proper role play seem real. It isn't just acting or playing as someone who you may or may not want to play as. It is about being the person, and to do so, you would need to keep in mind the even the smallest insignificant detail, as it might effect your or someone else’s actions in the future. In my honest opinion, roleplaying at its finest is like living a new life. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Meta gaming is using knowledge or terms that your in-game character would not have access to. It is also acting in a way that doesn't fit with your in-game character's personality. So basically, its like acting out of character in-game. Powergaming (in this context) is to do impossible things in order to make the player have his way (usually winning). For example, wiping out an entire battalion of tanks by flicking your fingers, or avoiding detection by walking through a wall, past the guards. These things are usually ridiculous and/or overpowered. What do you expect this server will be like?: As I have been told by friends that it is an amazing server, and the application process is an interpretation of hell itself (that I am starting to experience), I have rather high expectations. I would normally expect the average dime-a-dozen, but as this is a special kind of server, where roleplaying is the top priority, I can imagine pretty much anything happening. If I can be totally honest, I am expecting a proper role playing experience. A place where there is law only where it is enforced. Wars, traps, bandits, giant cities, discrimination, jail. The list goes on. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on several servers, such as "Minespace", "Craftedmovie", and also local lan parties with my friends. For Minespace, it was a great server with very balanced mods that made minecraft interesting, but not interesting enough. After playing for a while with my friend, a whole truck-load of exams and work suddenly arrived at our doorstep that stopped us from playing for a few weeks. When we came back, the entire world had been wiped. No more, were the buildings that we built, the skills we accumulated and players we played with. That is when we threw in the towel and left for good. For the Craftedmovie server, I played on it for a good amount of time, made a few friends, but as it was a mostly vanilla survival/creative hybrid, I just couldn't find a good reason to continue playing when spelunking and building castles got dull. And for the Lan parties with my friends, most of my friends stopped playing minecraft a while ago as the trend moved on, but we do still host some now and again just to mess around with tnt and traps. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read, understood and agreed to the rules. How did you hear about us?: My friend (who goes by the name of Daegrim, xFrozt) introduced it to me a while back, boasting about how it was one I have never experienced. I do also remember seeing it on minestatus a few months back when I was looking for a decent server to play on. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes I have. Number 3403. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: retune In-Character: Character Name: Ike Mordecai Fortis ‘Climber’ What is your Race?: Human Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Ike grew up in a humble family, originally dedicated to bringing a sizeable portion Oren’s food to their people. However, the war eventually took its toll, and they were soon forced to leave their prosperous farms behind in Aegis, and move to Asulon, reducing them to a single, but large farm. Ike was always considered a joke. As an infant, his slight lack of muscle build and bone development made him the laughingstock of his family, hence the name, Ike (derived from Isaac of Hebrew origin, meaning laughter). He was a logical child, and would always trust in logical explanations, before his own senses. Although his upbringing was heavily influenced by the farmlife, Ike showed little to no interest in his family’s work. His body build was barely fit for such endurance-testing work, hence starting a whole slew of name-calling by his siblings. Instead, the bright young Fortis turned to politics, economics, and history, awed by the intricate systems that kept the kingdoms from falling apart, and his parents respected his interests and hired tutors to educate him. His constant desire to understand more and get better at something gave him his nickname by which his friends and family call him today, ‘Climber’. At the young age of 12, he already understood a good portion of economics but could never quite get his head around politics, always questioning why they didn’t do this instead of that, before succumbing to a persistent headache exclusive to the understanding of politics. From then on, he helped his family run the business as well as run the odd errand. However, when Ike turned 14, an unprecedented change of mindset caused him to leave home to learn the essentials of survival in the wild. He took up swordsmanship (namely in two-handed claymores) for self defense and prospecting, whilst doing part-time at lumbermills, blacksmiths, farms and anywhere else in his free-time. Amongst his many jobs, he found a slight interest in tailoring clothes and armors, but quickly dismissed the idea. His training was vigorous, but he pressed onwards, subconsciously searching for something that would give him the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. Today, aged 17, he has decided to head out to find a life far away from his home in a remote area in the Realm of Hanseti. Knowledgeable in the various ways of the working-class people, he is prepared for the future and walks away with confidence, not knowing where the road will take him. He simply chooses to go with the flow, and see where the (metaphorical) river will lead him. Climber has a fair complexion, blond hair, deep blue eyes and a small mouth. His body is generally thin, but slightly muscular. He always wears a red braided string (made by his mother originally as a replacement string for a necklace he broke) around his neck as a memorabilia of his family (he’s not bleeding from the neck! Why does everyone think that?). On formal occasions, he wears a short long sleeve hooded jacket coloured light green that goes down just past his chest with 2 orange beads hanging from the front, over a dark turquoise-coloured silk shirt decorated with gold-coloured-dyed silk, both of which he had tailored as a gift from his parents, a pair of grey pants with two large buttoned pockets on each leg and light-grey boots. Any other time you see him, he is likely to be wearing an almost identical outfit, except without any of the gold trims, and slightly greyer-coloured clothes. Ike is a quiet but hardworking man, capable with his general experience at doing many different jobs. Likes: -Fruits (mostly apples) -Farm animals (he used to hate them both as he would see them every single day for over ten years, but soon learned to like them) -A good opponent (only sparring, not serious fighting) -Logical thinkers (who think of smarter things than he does, so that he always has someone to look up to) Dislikes: -Alcohol (after having a horrible experience of getting drunk at an inexplicably young age, he vowed never to drink alcohol again) -Dairy products (he’s lactose intolerant, but I’m not sure what the medieval term for it is) -Explaining things (only after repeatedly explaining something to someone clearly) -Heavy objects (apart from swords) Interests: -Politics (now grown up, his tendency to get headaches when studying politics has decreased, but still happens from time to time) -Economics -Mining -Swordplay Fears (with logic, comes a price, and in Ike’s case, it’s a fear of simply anything, here are some examples): -Zombies (“just imagine looking at a close relative who was turned…I shudder at the thought”) -Heights (“there’s no way anyone would survive from this height without at least breaking a limb”) -Cold (he developed cheimatophobia at a young age during a cold winter, when he got lost in a blizzard and was lost for what seemed to be hours in the cold) Your characters ambitions: Ike wants to travel far away from his old home in Hanseti to find a peaceful town preferably in Oren, to settle in. From there, he plans to find a job, look for a small but developing guild to join, and get to know influential people across Asulon. Overall, his ambitions are a bit vague, but as he is a somewhat laid-back person, he is likely to suddenly find an interest in something that would drastically change his aspirations. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? (Out in the woods, chopping down some trees for lumber) Turning his attention over to the source of the fighting, Ike spots the two muscular bandits using clubs to beat up an elf. He slowly picks up his trusty tree felling axe and sneaks up behind them. Once a few feet behind them, he shouts “Hey!”, before swinging the blunt end of his axe into the skull of an unwary bandit. However, the strike was met by a metal block of a head, taking the blow without even flinching. The disgruntled bandit turns around, and roars as he swings his club downwards, in hopes of crushing the puny opponent’s head from top to bottom. Ike dodges by a hair to the left, and uses his right foot to step the heavy club onto the ground as the bandit was recovering, out of the bandit’s hands. He then follows up by swinging (this time) the sharp end of his axe into the bandit’s lower leg area, making a giant gash and causing him to collapse onto the ground, screaming out explicit words in pain. In shock, the other bandit realizes the cry of his ally, forgets about the elf and turns around, using the body rotation to hurl a fearsome strike with his club towards the general area of Ike’s face as Ike attempts to get the jump on him. Evading the reckless attack quickly, he uses his axe to strike the heavy club out of the bandit’s hands, however his inexperience results in him losing grip of his axe and dropping it as well. Both of them now unarmed, the bandit raises his arms; ready to block a strike, whilst Ike carefully walks towards him, adopting a kick boxing-style stance. A few seconds later, the bandit gets impatient and charges towards his victim, but that will be his undoing. He throws a powerful punch towards Ike’s chest, but the blow doesn’t connect with the intended location. Instead, Ike closely dodges the punch and grabs the bandit’s arm as it flies past, and pulls it to the ground whilst kicking the bandit in the shin, causing him to lose balance, and a heavy fist to the face (I just had to do that) smashes the bandit’s bare head into the ground. Ike then crouches next to the downed bandit and feints a few punches to his head, stopping just before contact, then gets up to aid the elf. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? “Good day shopkeeper! Would you happen to have any work?” A screenshot of your skin: Everyday Formal Other Information: Woo! Third application! Hopefully i’ll get in this time, as they say, third time’s the charm. I really just changed the parts that needed to be changed, so hopefully that’s all that’s needed. I would just like to thank you for taking the time to read through my application, as well as the people who started and run Lord of the Craft for allowing people like me to have a shot at joining their amazing server and community.

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am shy when it comes to socialising, but respected in academics, and ironically gaming. I am an individual. I have played on several servers before, some of which I had friends on who were ready to take me in with open arms (this one included). As for the rest, I ended up starting by myself, and over time, getting to know the community better. Finally I am a pessimist. I wont deny it, I am still trying to get out of the habit of pointing out the bad, as opposed to the good, but in time, I will change. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: My time will vary based on many factors. I'm guessing at least 10 hours a week, less if I have exams or work, more if I am free. After playing countless rpg's and watching shows for years, I have come to realise that role playing isn't just a pointless waste of time. It takes experience, courage, and a lot of effort to make it real. It isn't just acting or playing as someone who you may or may not want to play as. Its being the person, and to do so, you would need to keep in mind the complete history of your character, the biology of your character, traits, personality, aspirations, actions, etc. So to finish, roleplaying at its finest, is almost like living a new life. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. To be honest, I never heard of the two terms until now. After doing a bit of research, this is what I take of them. Meta gaming is using knowledge or terms that your in-game character would not have access to. It is also acting in a way that doesn't fit with your in-game character's personality. So basically, its like acting out of character in-game. As for power gaming, I originally thought it meant playing in a way that maximizes efficiency so that the player would reach a certain goal as quickly or efficiently as possible, ie. a certain level or to get a certain item. But after researching a bit, I came up with a different definition, that being to do impossible things in order to make the player have his way (usually winning). For example, wiping out an entire battalion of tanks by flicking your fingers, or avoiding detection by walking through a wall, past the guards. These things are usually ridiculous and/or overpowered. What do you expect this server will be like?: As I have been told by friends that it is an amazing server, and the application process is an interpretation of hell itself, I have rather high expectations. I would normally expect no griefers, but as this isn't an ordinary server, where roleplaying seems to be the top priority, I can imagine organised attacks against rival factions. If I can be totally honest, I am expecting a proper role playing experience. A place where there is law only where it is enforced. No respawns, wars, explosions, traps, wild animals, bandits, giant cities, thriving economies, jobs, discrimination, jail. The list goes on. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I have played on several servers, such as "Minespace", "Craftedmovie", and also local lan parties with my friends. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes I have. Number 3403. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: retune In-Character: Character Name: Albert - Alias (no surname) Alban Vincent Sheffield - Proper Name What is your Race?: Human Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): The history of the young Alban is not clear, but it goes a bit like this. -A summary of his family's history- During the Falling of Aegis, King Enor of Oren had no heirs to the throne, or so they say. During his rule, it is said that he secretly had an illegitimate child with a local inn keeper. That child was taken to the palace and there, he lived in secrecy, with education and care for the next few years, until the undead attacked. It was then, that the king ordered him, now a grown prince, to evacuate and go around spreading the news to the holds of Aegis, before leading his people in search of a new land. As the prince of Oren led his people from capital to capital, more and more of his followers left his side to settle down in the cities that they found suitable to take refuge in, and before long, he was only accompanied by his loyal servants and guards. As they left, he made all of them promise not to tell anyone of his identity, less the people get a bad impression on their king. The news spread fast, and soon all the nations had evacuated their people to the strongholds. One by one, the holds and cities fell, and the people fled. When nations finally united, heroes and warriors across Aegis headed to the portal, to the forsaken lands, the prince and his remaining followers amongst them. After the Laurelin incident, he along with his comrades were given the title of legends, but little was heard from them after that. It was rumoured that they left in search of new land, with a group of enthusiastic settlers, before anyone else, and where they landed, was thousands of miles north from where the first proper evacuation ship that left Aegis landed in Asulon. After a hard landing that rendered all but a single ship wrecked, the remaining company followed the prince inland, across mountain upon mountain, finally settling in an area with a small stream close to a forest. The last ship then sailed along the coast, in hope of finding civilisation, never to be seen again. In the temporary settlement, the prince finally settled down, and got to know all of his people. That was when he met his future wife, from Winterfell. From there, the settlement grew larger, the prince married the woman, and gave birth to the boy, Alban Vincent Sheffield. -Alban- Alban (in latin) is another word for "White Mountain", representing power and loyalty. Also, it is believed that the area where the settlers built their first village was shadowed by a gigantic mountain, made completely of pale stone and covered in snow. He was a bright child, educated by his parents in royal swordsmanship, tactics, language, economics and politics, the last two being his favourite. He was a lazy-smart, but obedient boy and questioned history and philosophy whenever he had the chance, and although he had authority as the son of the settlement’s leader, he rarely abused it. He quickly made many friends with the other settlers and their children, and acted as the person who would take the opinions and feelings of the people to the leader. A few years after the birth of Alban, he and his parents went on a walk up a mountain path. It was then that the family was attacked by a group of orc scouts, the child knocked out and separated from his family. When he woke up, he was alone with only his family's dagger emblazoned with their coat of arms, a map of nearby settlements, their one not amongst them, and cloudy memories of his past. -Present day- Just getting past his adolescence years, Alban Vincent Sheffield lives alone as a nomad, travelling from place to place in search of a town to settle down, but subconsciously looking for a way to rediscover his memories lost to amnesia. Since that day, he has travelled through the Orcish territory, around Alras to the Dwarven territory, before entering the Monk Sanctuary, where he is today. He has a fair complexion, blond hair (inherited from his mother), and bright amber/peach eyes. He is about 5 feet tall, has a middle-low pitched smooth, clear but restricted voice and small but defined muscles. He is a little thinner and muscular than the average man. The rest are pretty average. He wears a blue shirt covered by white robes, a dark red cloth belt and wooden slippers. He also has a red braided string tied around his neck for a reason he cant remember, but doesn't want to take it off, along with his family's dagger in its scabbard, strapped to his belt. The dagger is about 12 inches long, 3.5 of it being the handle, the rest of it the blade. The blade is 2 wide, and is curved, like a scimitar. On the handle, is the Sheffield family's coat of arms, emblazoned. He is skilled in politics, economics and swordsmanship, and keeps his curved iron dagger as a memory of the past he is trying to recollect but usually not as a weapon. He was also educated in the languages of Asulon but has forgotten most of them from the incident he had when he was a child. He is kind to those who are kind to him, and also to those in need. Apart from that he is generally a quiet person who minds his own business, and often leaves without saying goodbye, but he will reluctantly to do someone a favour now and again if it makes sense and the person is desperate. He doesn't tell anyone of his royal lineage or his level of education, and goes by the alias of Albert, meaning noble, bright or famous. Likes: -Mildly sweet things like fruits, but not too sweet like chocolate fudge cake -Solitude (living alone means no-one to do favours for) -Peace and quiet -Drawing -Mountains (he has always shown satisfaction when he sees a mountain) Dislikes: -Acts of injustice -Bitter foods -Medicine (because they're bitter) -Orcs (because of the incident) -Alcohol Interests: -Politics -Economics -Smithing (he is trying to find an innovative new type of weapon to go with his unique swordplay) -Tactics -Swordplay (the opposite of smithing, trying to find a new type of swordplay to go with his family's dagger) -Dwarves and elves (not personally! He is interested in their culture and way of life) Your characters ambitions: Alban aims to find a place to settle down and take an apprenticeship in black smithing. From there he is hoping to find some way of travelling to the Kingdom of Renatus and the Realm of Hanseti to find out more of his family’s history, as well as a guide to take him to his lost hometown to find out what happened during that unprecedented event, and find his family. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? He observes the situation. One bandit is using a wooden club to strike the elf, the other a sabre on the lookout. Alban shouts at them. “Hey! Stop at once!” The bandit with the sabre looks up, unsheathes his sabre and holds it firmly in his right hand. ‘Who’s there?’ he shouts. Alban walks forward behind a tree, taking out his dagger. The bandit laughs as he sheathes his weapon. “What are you going to do, save that pile of junk? With such a flimsy weapon?” He laughs again. Alban charges while his guard is down and smashes the hilt of his dagger into the bandit's liver area, then temple, and finally taking advantage of the flinch to kick him in the gut to the ground. Out cold. He picks up the sabre off the ground, along with the scabbard and turns around. The other bandit realizes his fallen comrade, and assigns all of his concentration to the hostile target. Powering towards Alban, he does a fearsome swing, aiming for the head with a force that could crush skulls, several times over. Dodging by a hair, Alban counters by holding out his dagger by the bandit’s arm as he swings past, making a huge cut in his left tricep. The bandit falls over, dropping his club, yelling in agony. Alban walks to the elf, and picks him up. “Can you walk?” The elf nods, as Alban takes him to a nearby town. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? (If he needs a sword or lost his previous one) "Good day (evening, afternoon, etc.) shopkeeper. Any chance you know a smithy in town where I can purchase a blade?" (If he is tired) "I could use a bed, can you give me directions to a good inn?" (If he is hungry) "Well, if you have any bread, i'll take it." (If he is peckish) "It depends...have you any fruit?" (Lost) "Would you happen to have a map of this area?" (General talk) "Thank you, just passing by." A screenshot of your skin: Please note that skin might have slight changes. Other Information: After doing a bit more research into the lore of LOTC, i've realised that my character's bio most likely doesn't fit properly. But i'm still going to give it a shot. Oh and his hometown was destroyed by orcish raiders, so he probably will never find it. Thank you for giving your time to read my application. Please give me your feedback, and question/correct me with the lore. :/
