Will the map be able to have jungle biomes, or are you not able to spawn in biome types?

Pp Lore Release | Patch 2.3
Simsmac replied to Deleted User 009's topic in News & Announcements Archive
Vrael thinks to himself, *This will allow me to explore the lands I have longed to see more easily than before.* He asks a monk, "Will stables be available for private land in the Wilds, or only large towns and villages? I long to start my own small colony, but the distance to the Wilds is too great from Normandor." -
MC Name: Simsmac RP Name: Vrael How experienced do you THINK you are with redstone?(Preferably a non-biased opinion) [Example of what NOT to do:'IM AWESOM!'] I am fairly experienced with redstone, but by no means a guru. I have a basic knowledge of some simple gates, and I'm able to very easily replicate the work of others, but I lack depth in my knowledge (that's why I'm looking to join :) ). I am very interested in piston work, in particular, especially concerning applications to city construction. My goal is to be able to have enough skill for my character to start up his own engineering and architecture business. Vrael lives in the elf city of Normandor, but would be able to commute to Alras fairly easily. Any links to redstone devices you've made before and documented(Screenshots/Video). (NOTE* It is best to have a sign somewhere in the screenshot/video to prove YOU made it.) I don't really have anything to provide here, as I haven't really ever made anything worth making a video about. Why do you wish to join the guild? I primarily want to learn more about circuits and pistons, as well be a part of the community of a guild. I am a very quick learner, and eager to have my character study a subject that he has been fascinated in for a while.

Enthusiasm is perfectly fine (and I apologize for swearing), but a thread swamped with contentless posts is really hard to navigate. I'm of the mind that if you can't say something to add to the conversation, then don't say anything at all, especially when it comes to forum posts. If you find it necessary to express your excitement over this update, do so in a constructive way. There's always the future thread with the poll in it for you to express your pure agreement (or disagreement) with this idea. -

Yeah, there's a shitload of spammy "+1" meme posts that completely drowned out all the legitimate questions or suggestions. I was pretty surprised and disappointed by that... -

How would having a separate client effect our ability to update our version of Minecraft as Mojang introduces new items/play dynamics? Would be have to be stuck in one specific version of Minecraft for a long time, or would updating be relatively trivial? I'm a Mac user as well, so I hope that this wouldn't effect my ability to play the game. As long as it's still Java, I assume it won't. -
[Accepted] The Tree City Of Normandor
Simsmac replied to Orlanden_'s topic in Asulon Roleplay Archive
How so? -
On a parchment scroll stained with pigeon droppings: "I, Vrael, wish to become an apprentice to the Order of Panacea. I am deeply interested in the discipline of alchemy, and the sciences in general. I currently reside in the city of Normandor, in the nation of Malinor, but I am freely available to travel between nations. I would not only be willing to dedicate time to potion research, but I would also be able to help construct the Order's base camp, if provided tools and materials. Thank you for considering my membership, Vrael, son of Rhomdor"

MC Name: Simsmac RP Name: Vrael Race: Wood elf I'm new to the server, and I passed by Normandor with a friend yesterday; it looks amazing so far, and I'd love to be a part of the city. I don't know if you still need builders, but I'm a very decent designer in Minecraft. PM me if you do. -
Out-Of-Character: Minecraft Account Name: Simsmac Did you attend minecon and sign up at the LOTC booth?: No. How old are you?: 18 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Eastern Time Zone (UTC -5) / USA Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a college student studying biology, contemplating whether or not to pursue a medical degree. I love Minecraft, and gaming in general. I started playing Minecraft a little more than a year ago. I've never done roleplaying before, but I'm quite confident that I'm capable of learning to do so, and very excited about learning more about it. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Around 7-10 hours. Possibly more depending on the week. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you.: Roleplaying is the act of assuming the character of someone else (fictitious or otherwise), and behaving as they would. Roleplaying in the sense of gaming generally means acting out a player-created character in a game, and navigating their character through the world of the game, while interacting with other roleplaying characters. In your own Words, describe what Metagaming and Powergaming are. Metagaming is the use of knowledge a player's character would have no way of knowing about. That is, using OOC knowledge to further one's status in the game world. An example would be a medieval character that proposes to create a power source using nuclear fission without prior knowledge of modern chemistry; the character used player knowledge that he wouldn't otherwise have had access to. Powergaming is when a player engages in a roleplay scenario with a player and doesn't allow the other player to have adequate control during the scenario or in the outcome of the situation; this causes the roleplay to be one sided and the outcome to favor only the powergamer, due to the fact that he alone is forcing the outcome. An example would be if during combat, a player roleplays that his character is always able to overpower or counter his opponent, no matter what the other player does. A slightly different example would be if the powergamer doesn't allow the other player to respond to his actions in the battle, or disregards how the other player is roleplaying the scenario, always forcing the outcome in his favor. Powergaming is not fair because a player's character shouldn't always win a battle, or come out favorably in every roleplay scenario, otherwise it causes the character to become unfairly overpowered, and prevents other players from having fun while roleplaying. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect this server to be a refreshing change to the normal Minecraft server dynamics, mostly due to the hardcore RP component. I also expect that the server will have a multitude of interesting lore to learn about, and beautiful Minecraft creations. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: (Listed in chronological order of join dates, first joined to last joined) Latskap's Server- Left because I got bored, and because the owner lost interest in server upkeep. Empire Craft- Left because the server moderators tended to act immaturely and abuse their abilities. I'm fairly certain that this server is dead. Sublimity Gaming- Left because they abruptly reset the map during a Minecraft update and never offered restitution to the players. As far as I know, I'm still on good terms with the server owners. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes How did you hear about us?: TehLulu (I believe her character is a human named Bell Yimoni) from Sublimity Gaming mentioned she joined here back when she left Sublimity's server. Have you voted for the Lord of the Craft on Minestatus? Which vote number were you? Yes, number 1736. What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: Account username is Simsmac, forum screen name is Simsmac also. In-Character: Character Name: Vrael, son of Rhomdor What is your Race?: Wood elf Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Vrael is a male wood elf of 125 years. He is attractive, no more or less than any other elf, which is to say that he is stunningly handsome compared to males of the other races. His fiercely green yet deeply understanding eyes are framed by his fair hair, high cheekbones, and angular face. His mouth is usually surrounded by a lightly stubbled beard. Vrael's skin, and that of most of his descendants, is light, much lighter than a usual wood elf's nut-brown skin. Several times along his lineage an ancestor married a common elf, which seems to have resulted in slightly fairer than usual complexion. However, Vrael inherited the shorter stature and slight build of his wood elf ancestors, measuring slightly over 6 feet, with a slender, yet sturdy body build. Vrael's personality tends to be introverted, and he is generally very calm, collected and rational, but when angered he can be quite rash. He is very inquisitive, and greatly enjoys listening to the stories and knowledge of another. Vrael was born in a small wood elf village tucked away in a forest near to Elandriel. Most of his short life has been spent in that village with his father Rhomdor and mother Lona, living among modest farmers and craftsmen. Vrael's father is an architect of tree homes, a highly skilled one at that, and his mother is a textile merchant and accomplished weaver. As a youth, Vrael worked in the farms that were neighbored the forest, tending to the crops and livestock, and he later became an apprentice of to father. Aside from his parents, an important and greatly influential figure in Vrael's life was his grandfather, and namesake, whom he was very close to. Sadly, he died shortly before his grandson's 100th birthday, at the ripe age of 1,780. Vrael the Senior was a wood elf that was well known in the village for being a polymath in a wide variety of disciplines, chief among them archery, swordsmanship, engineering, and meditation. He was also deeply intrigued by magic, and worked with a scholar in Elandriel who was researching magical theory. Vrael greatly enjoyed the company of his grandfather, and would spend almost all of his free time visiting him in his tall oak treehouse near the center of his village. He would spend hours on end listening to his grandfather lecture about various feats of engineering, or his latest philosophic realization. Vrael was mentored in many things by his grandfather; he first shot a bow and held a sword in the garden under the oak tree, where his grandfather would frequently train or spar with him, much to the displeasure of his parents, who thought of combat as unnecessary and unfit for young elf. Vrael also became very dedicated to the meditation and relaxation exercises his grandfather had fit in his daily routine. Vrael the Senior didn't practice religion (it was one of the few things he had no interest in), but he deeply believed in the power and importance of one's individual spirit, and frequently reminded his grandson of the importance of a healthy mind. Vrael's fondest memories of his grandfather are of the journey they took together to Elandriel one spring; Vrael was 75 at the time. His grandfather showed him the beautiful architecture and engineering of the city, and introduced him to several old friends of his who resided in Elandriel. When his grandfather died, Vrael promised to himself he would lead a life that his grandfather could have been proud of. He realized he wanted to learn most about engineering, his interest piqued by the tales of dwarven marvels his grandfather had anecdotally learned about. He longed to travel, and see the lands he had heard only about in stories. Vrael's relationship with his parents became increasingly distant over the years, especially after the death of his grandfather. This is due mostly because he had become dissatisfied with his quiet life in the forest, and desired more than what his village could offer him. His parents, however, wished for him to stay in their village and become an architect like his father; this idea was not appealing to Vrael. He recently set out on his own, about 25 years after his grandfather's death, with plans to travel first to Elandriel, revisiting the sites he experienced there with his grandfather. Your characters ambitions: To travel the land, searching for an adequate way of life and deeper meaning of his existence, as well as to gain a more practical knowledge of engineering, and learn more about the culture of Asulon in general. Vrael aspires for knowledge, as well as wisdom. Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do? As Vrael walked along a dusty forest path in the Wilds of Asulon on his journey to Elandriel, he contemplated what he would do first when he arrived to the city. He hoped that he could find one of his grandfather's acquaintances from his last visit, and that they would be willing to help him as he became familiar with the city. As he continued on, he passed a small cottage. Vrael thought it looked to be of elvish making, reminding him of houses his father had designed, though this house more modestly decorated. As Vrael passed it, he heard a cry of distress echo from somewhere behind the cottage. Fearing that the inhabitant was hurt somehow, Vrael ran around to the back of the house. In the garden was an elderly female elf being accosted by a burly male human with a large scar on his forehead, and what seemed to be a scrawny orc. The man was holding a short, straight dagger to the elf’s throat while the orc searched her pockets. Vrael shouted, “Let go of her, you scum!” Both of the villains looked up, surprised. The orc let out a hiss, and drew the crude bow that had been strapped to his back. He nocked an arrow, and pointed the bow at Vrael. “This doesn’t concern you, elf. Be gone, or my friend will kill you!” the man cried. Vrael tensed. He knew it wouldn’t be right to flee, so he drew his own bow. “No, I won’t leave. Let the elf go!” Vrael said. The orc shot his arrow, and Vrael flinched. The arrow whizzed passed his left shoulder, and buried itself in the wall of the cottage. Vrael loosed his own arrow, hitting the orc in his lower abdomen, near his right kidney. The orc cried out, and turned and fled, stumbling over his own feet. The burly man yelled, “You should’ve run, elf!” The man dropped the elderly elf to the ground, and threw the dagger he had been threatening her with at Vrael. The knife sailed through the air, straight at his chest. Vrael raised his left arm, deflecting the knife, which left a deep gouge on the inside of his forearm. He winced in pain as blood ran down his arm. Vrael dropped his bow, and drew his short sword from his belt, just as the man drew another dagger from his boot. The man threw the second dagger, but this time Vrael ducked to the side as the blade flew past him. He charged the man as he fumbled for his own sword. Vrael slashed the man’s arm as it reached for his scabbard, then raised his sword to the man’s throat. “Flee, or I’ll run you through,” said Vrael. The man, clearly perturbed by what the skinny Vrael had done, backpedaled then turned and ran in the same direction as the orc had fled. Vrael sheathed his sword, retrieved his bow, and went where the elderly elf lay, still breathing heavily. “Are you unharmed?” inquired Vrael. “No, but I am alive, thanks to you, young one,” replied the elf, as she tilted her head so Vrael could see the long, thin cut under her chin where the man’s dagger had been pressed. Vrael felt slightly sick as he remembered his own wounded arm. He lifted his arm with his right hand, examining the gouge. “Come inside and mend yourself, young one. It is the least you deserve for your bravery,” said the elderly elf, getting to her feet. Vrael obliged, and helped the elf to her feet, and inside to her cottage. Your character walks up to a shop in a quiet market. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer? Vrael entered a small provisions store, and approached the counter, behind which sat a squat, overweight man with bloodshot eyes. “What can I help ye to today, my fine elf fellow?” bellowed the shopkeeper, louder than necessary. “Greetings. Have you any preserved foods? I would like to purchase three Passings worth of light rations for on the road,” Vrael told the man. The shopkeeper got up from his stool behind the counter and said, “Course. Would ye like any particular type o’ food? I got both dried meats and fruits, an’ some hearty breads that don’t spoil too easy.” “Fruit and some beef would be fine. No bread, thank you,” answered Vrael. The man went to the storeroom behind the counter, stumbling slightly, and rummaged around for several minutes, then came out with the food, wrapped in thin linen. He handed it to Vrael, his hands slightly shaking. “Anythin’ else for ye?” “I would like some elven dew, if you have it,” said Vrael. He had always had an appetite for the beverage, ever since his grandfather had snuck him a mug during a family dinner, and he wanted something to have something to enjoy with his dry, tasteless rations on his journey. “Ah, sorry me lad, I just sold th’ last barrels of dew ‘ta ‘nother elf fellow who was havin’ a party,” the shopkeeper said, with what Vrael now noticed was slurred speech. He paused, then whispered, “Though, I do have some o’ th' ‘stuff’, if ye have a hankering for somethin’ sweet,” smiling as he said it. Vrael, confused, replied, “What do you mean? What ‘stuff’?” The man mimicked a snorting motion. Vrael stared at him without comprehension. “Th’ sweet stuff, dolt! Ye want ‘ter ‘ave some?” hissed the shopkeeper. “What is it?” asked Vrael. “Yer killin’ me, son. Ye know, sweet, white, tha’ stuff. Makes ye feel good, better ‘n ale does, ‘specially for ‘n elf such as yerself.” Vrael, still slightly perplexed, asked “Can you show me it?” “Not if yer not gonna buy some,” said the man, now suspicious, “Are ye some kind o’ drug warden? If ye are, ye have ‘ta tell me!” he said defensively, raising his voice. “I do not know what you mean. May I purchase the food?” said Vrael, feeling somewhat miffed. “Ye, sure, wha’ever.” As Vrael exited the shop, he saw the shopkeeper pull out a small pouch from his pocket, and pinch out some white powder. The man put it in his palm, and snorted it. He tensed up, and moaned in ecstasy, then fell out of his stool with a thud. Vrael hurriedly left, feeling confused and distressed.
