Sadly Llir hasn't figured a way to code an automated replacement to moderators, a thousand apologizes.

No matter who the person might be people will make mistakes or perception and optics will play a role when you don't have a grasp of the full picture of what happens constantly behind the scenes. Airing out your grievances to someone who did solid work that benefited the community, on their farewell post none the less, isn't going to make you whole from that past situation. Pointing it out doesn't make you smart and it doesn't put you in a spot light of good favor for it; just lay it to rest and let them retire in peace.

Enjoy life GMRO and best of luck in school. It was enjoyable reading your advice section and it makes me laugh a bit in amusement at some of the should be obvious ones. Tis the life of a manager tho 😋

  2. Appreciate all the work and dedication you've put in as a red tag. It's not glamorous work, but you showed a lot of character and maturity through it and contributed a lot to the improvement of the server. P.S. I like the 2021-22 version of you a lot better than the 2019 one :P

Let's go down this rabbit hole,

How would you personally like to see it changed? I've always liked the idea of re-imagining conflict and making it less warclaim focused, and heightening instead the possibilities of raids and other smaller to medium scale war actions.

It's a double edged sword. The majority of the community invested in that type of roleplay would see large scale wars as is, but minus the technical issues and complications that come with trying to drive that system on Minecraft spaghetti code designed for a couple of friends to play together, not 100's. That's realistically still the best answer, but year after year it doesn't get easier to achieve that and no one wants to see through drastic changes due to how much blow back that person would receive against implementing new rules / systems.

I'm not invested enough in that roleplay to even try to propose an actual solution hence why I punted off my original comment as a half joke. More robust systems revolving around more frequent and organized small skirmishes, key roleplay events [i.e. deaths / captures], and people not getting butt hurt and taking things offensively oocly when they lose land / rp clout would be where I'd start looking.

    p.s

I also will not world edit another city unlawfully. This is my legal obligation to not repeat the mistakes of the past and cut a city so much with world edit that its chest couldn't be recovered.

"Unlawfully" is very tactical wording 😂

  5. Wait...... a mature and respectful admin that is stepping down and leaving room for someone else to step into that role and grow / make the server an even better place??!?!?!??! Buddy I think you forgot that this is LotC and you're suppose to not log on for 6 months WHILE being an admin still, come back to make a bunch of changes to try to look active only to ruin the server, and then voluntarily resign because it's everyone else's fault.

In all seriousness thank you for volunteering your time to deal with all aspects of the community; often times meaning the worst of us in the role of moderation administrator. Hope you can step back and still find a love and passion for the community as an outlet and way to fill yourself up.

  6. I will chip in to say a lot of these issues are not limited to cost or buying a new war server box. A lot of that just comes down to how Minecraft is not intended as a game to have 150+ players in one area fighting it out in a couple of chunks. (As nickrocky said) No one really does exactly what we do in terms of throwing everyone into one area and just going for it. To get into a little more detail on how it works I’ll give you a little example that’s only kinda accurate. In this example packets are considered resources that the server has to process.

Player 1 and 2 can see each other. (6 packets)

Player 1,2 and 3 can see each other (12 packets)

Player 1,2,3 and 4 can see each other (24 packets)

Player 1,2,3,4 and 5 can see each other (48 packets)

As you add more and more players there is just a ton of more information that has to be sent from clients to the server and vice versa. It doesn’t scale normally – it multiplies a ton as more and more players are added. It gets out of hand very quickly. There is a ton of ways you can improve this such as running certain versions of Minecraft, making optimized plugins, or even doing something as basic as purging the area of entities so there is less information to be thrown around.
