  1. Out-Of-Character

    Minecraft Account Name:Twiddlepop

    How old are you?:15

    Time-Zone/Country of Residence:UK

Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?:Yes

Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself:My imagination always seems to run away with me, so I channel it into writing and music. Most people would describe me as completely mad, but also loyal. I also love to make other people happy by making them laugh!

How much time could you be on the server weekly?:Five hours at least

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:Roleplaying for me is an escape. It's the chance to express yourself as a character from your imagination, maybe one that you love, or one that you love to hate. Roleplay is always fun, even if it's between two minor characters. Creating a personality for something you dreamt up is always a fun experience.

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:A few roleplay servers before this.

In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is:When you learn information out of character, then your character suddenly knows it in RP. It can disrupt a good session of RP, and makes it seem less believable. Learning to block out Meta-Gaming is a skill that is probably highly valued in RP communities I would think.

In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is:Hence the word power, Power-Gaming is when you take unecessary control over an RP session, not allowing other players to speak and develop their characters. Sometimes a fight will insue or an item will be stolen without a due RP explanation, and the character who instigated this will become stronger against normal protocol.

What do you expect this server will be like?:I expect great things from this server, mostly from the rigorous application process :D That shows me that this experience must be one to anticipate!

What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?:An example of two would be CityCraft and Hollow-world. I left them because help was usually unavailable, and RP was quite rare. Usually it was people chatting about when they last played Skyrim...

Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?:Yes

Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules:Yes

How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?:A very lucky Google search led me here, and I'm very pleased it did!

Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?:Yes, here it is! Click for previous application!

Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-%E2%96%91%E2%96%92%E2%96%93-the-lord-of-the-craft-%E2%96%93%E2%96%92%E2%96%91-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/):I tried this with my last application, but the topic was locked and I couldn't post it.

    In-Character:

    Character Name:Poppy Leafhelm

    What Race are you?:Human

What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race):Halfling

Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

    ~Early Life~

Poppy was always a quiet child, and her parents were kind and loving. Poppy always used to watch her parents spread their kindness to others, even when they themselves were unable to get by, and Poppy used to envy how selfless they were. Poppy knew she was selfish, because she never shared her toys or food with the other children.

From a young age, Poppy worked on her parent’s farm, tending to the animals and harvesting crops. As soon as she was old enough, she learnt how to drive a plough and arrange produce. Ever since she first set eyes on the farm, Poppy knew she wanted to be a farmer, and live in a quiet but happy community.

Poppy had an older sister named Daisy, whom she always seemed to fight with. Poppy used to scold Daisy about her being so selfish, and that her behaviour was unacceptable. Daisy would retort that Poppy was too uptight, and that she needed to have some fun. When Poppy was fourteen, her sister left for the city, and she hasn't heard from her since.

    ~Exert from a fight~

“Just jump Poppy, you’ll be fine!”

Poppy stands on the edge of the short drop, pale and shaking. Her sister stands beside her, her toes peeking over the edge.

“I… I don’t want to!” Poppy squeals, trying to back away from the edge, but her sister’s hand holds her steady. Her sister kneels beside her, taking Poppy’s hands in each of hers.

“C’mon Pop, please! Do it for me.”

    “That’s selfish, Daisy!”

Her sister lets out a growl of frustration, dropping Poppy’s hands. “That’s what it’s all about with you, isn’t it! ‘Stop Daisy that’s selfish’ or ‘Don’t be selfish Daisy’! It’s not always about being selfless you know!” Her shouts make Poppy wince, and she backs away.

“I just don’t want to jump, Daisy! I’m scared!” Tears begin to drip down her face, rolling off her chin in little streams.

“Oh why can’t you just live a little! You’re so uptight Poppy, can’t you just have a little fun?!” Daisy grabs Poppy’s arm, trying her to pull her toward the edge, but Poppy shakes her arm free, crying out.

“Stop it! Why do you always have to be so horrible to me! You’re so…” Poppy stops herself before she can say it, but her sister knows what’s coming.

“Selfish, is that it? I’m always big old selfish Daisy aren’t I! You’re ridiculous Poppy, I can’t wait until I don’t have you trailing after me all the time.” Daisy drops Poppy’s arm and stalks away, kicking at rocks on the edge of the path. Poppy sinks to the ground sobbing, trying to wipe the tears from her eyes but more just seem to keep coming. With a resigning whimper, Poppy begins to cry openly, burying her face in her dress, allowing her deep red hair to fall in a curtain around her face, hiding her from the rage of her sister.

    ~Current Life~

Poppy is nineteen right now, and she's just beginning her journey to start her own farm. Before she left home she hugged her teary eyes parent’s goodbye and set off, waving farewell to her friends and neighbours. Poppy travelled for at least a week before she found somewhere to start her new life, but now she's more ready than ever become the most successful farmer Asulon has ever had.

    ~Exert from the Goodbyes~

Poppy was enveloped in her mothers arms, her father with his arms around the both of them.

"Promise me something Poppy," Poppy's mother let her go and held her by the shoulders, staring into her eyes. "Always try your best and never give up. And please, just remember that we'll always be here for you, no matter what."

"I promise, mother." Poppy gave her mother one last hug, then turned to her father."Goodbye, father."

"Bye, Pops. Stay safe." Her father said, running a hand through his hair. "Your mother and I will be here if you need anything." He brushed a lock of red hair out of her eyes. "We love you."

Poppy's amber eyes began to fill with tears, but she wiped them away and hugged her parents one last time. "Farewell!" And with that, Poppy slung her satchel over her shoulder and left the town gate, and her parents stood and watched her go until her tiny frame was just a black dot on the horizon.

What is your Character's ambitions?:To become a succesful farmer, selling her wares and representing other halfling farmers across the land.

What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc):Hoe, because she uses it to do what she loves; farming.

What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? She's incredibly selfless. If someone is in need, she'll be there for them.

Other Information about your Character:She's very sensitive and not very strong, so putting her in a battle situation is a very bad idea.

    Open-Response-Questions

Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond?

Poppy walks along the path, revelling in the warm sunlight. Today is a beautiful day, she thinks to herself, a day perfect for tending to the animals. Suddenly, she hears voices up ahead. Poppy darts behind a tree, fearing bandits or rogues, but instead she sees two armed warriors shouting at a halfling. Horror crosses Poppy's face as she sees the halfling is Finneus.

"Come on Pop, this is the time to do something brave." she mutters to herself, and with a gulp, Poppy steps into the light, drawing herself up to the tallest height she can manage. "Leave him alone!"

It comes out as a petrified squeak, and as the warriors see her, they laugh.

"What are you going to do about it, girl?"

Finneus flaps his hands at Poppy, a frantic expression on his face."Go back to the farm, Poppy! I'll be there soon." Poppy shakes her head vigorously and ignores him, confronting the warriors, her hands on her hips.

"What do you want from him?"

"We want his money, girl. Now get out of the way."

"No wait!" Poppy rumages through her pockets and pulls out a small pouch of coins. "Please, take these and let him be on his way!" She shrinks back as one of the warriors snatches the purse from her, and turns away to count the money, his comrade joining him. "Run!" Poppy hisses to Finneus, pushing him away. "We have to run, now!" The two dash away, leaving the oblivious warriors counting out the very few minas that Poppy handed them.

"Thank you Poppy, you probably just saved my life!" pants Finneus as they run along the path.

"It's fine really, it was the least I could do." gasps Poppy, clutching at the the cramps in her stomach as they run, feet pounding against the dirt, back to the Cloud Temple.

Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response?

"'Ello there, what can I do you for today?"

Poppy laces her hands together infront of her, bowing her head respectfully. "It'd be really lovely if you could sell me some shears, please." Poppy blushes vigorously, dipping her head even lower. The merchant reaches behind the counter, pulling out several pairs of shears.

"Which pair takes your fancy, young miss?"

Poppy surveys the shears, her farmers eye analysing every curve of the blades, every detail of the handles. Her eyes widen as they fall on a gleaming set of silver shears. The curved blades glint silver in the sunlight, and the ivory handles are engraved with depictions of farmers working away in the sun.

"How much are these?" She gestures to the shears, blushing again.

    "500 Minas."

Poppy gasps and shrinks away from the shears, as if they have become something evil. "Could you arrange them in price order for me, please?" The merchant shuffles around the shears, and Poppy sees that the pair she picked are the most expensive. With a sigh, she looks down the the bottom end, and sees a rusty old pair with bent blades. "How much are those?"

    "60 Minas."

"Could I have them please?" asked resentedly. She can never afford the nice things...

"Of course." The merchant wraps up the shears in cloth and hands them to Poppy, who passes a few coins over the counter and curtsies at the merchant. "Thank you very much!" she chirps, and walks away from the stall, sneaking a look back over her shoulder at the glorious silver shears.

Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?:

Poppy walks through the wilds, hopping over tree stumps and ducking under hanging branches. She's been walking for an hour now, trying to find some mushrooms for the pigs. As she is about to pass under another branch, something catches her eye.

A small, run down hut stands in a clearing, the door hanging off its hinges and mould covering the roof. Poppy picks her way toward the hut, flinching at any noises she hears. She squeezes through the opening where the door used to be, and stands very still, anticipating attack. When nothing happens, she walks inside, her eyes rapidly adjusting to the light. Inside, the hut is empty except for a chest. Gingerly, Poppy attempts to pry the lid open, and to her delight it moves with ease, no rust hindering the hinges. With a push, Poppy opens the chest, and her eyes widen at the contents.

"A... A gold sword?" Poppy gasps under her breath, nearly shielding her eyes from the glinting metal. Her dainty hands reach out and stroke the iron bars nestled next to it, feeling the weight of them in her palm. Suddenly she withdraws her hand, seeming repulsed at herself for her actions. "These could belong to somebody, I shouldn't take them." She tells herself, imagining how she would feel if someone stole things as precious as this from her. She backs away from the chest and skitters out the door, running away down the path and hoping that nobody saw her. If somebody accused her of stealing, she'd break down into tears for sure.

Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond?

    "Greetings, traveller!"

The man stands at the entrance to the trading camp, his deep green robes camouflaging him to the grass. Poppy stands a little taller, raising her hand. "Greetings, good sir!"

"Do you wish to stop for a while? Have some ale? We have fine food here!"

Poppy looks longingly toward the camp, her nose lingering on the smells escaping from the huts and tents. Beef, slamon, salted vegetables, each of them waiting to be eaten... But she shakes herself. She shouldn't be so selfish, these people need their food and she shouldn't take advantage of that. Times are hard at the moment, and she should work for her food, not leech off of other people.

"No thank you sir, but I would be obliged if you could direct me to a town?"

The man frowns, obviously seeing Poppy's hunger. "The nearest town is north of here, only a short distance. Are you sure you wouldn't want some food?"

"Thank you, but no! Have a good day!" Poppy hurries away before the trader can invite her again. Accepting his invitation would've been selfish, and Poppy is glad she didn't.

You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?:

"Did you hear? There's bandits outside the town, blocking the road! There's a reward for anyone who helps out!"

Poppy rubs her hands together as she sits on the bench, listening to the two Northeners talk behind her. They chatter about what the reward will be, and whether either of them will get to jump into the action. Poppy shakes her head quietly. Violence is never necessary, no matter what the situation... A voice inside Poppy's head scolds her for being so selfish as to not help out the town, but Poppy just shrinks in her seat.

She's not a fighter, and certainly not one that's strong enough to help out. She'd just slow everyone down if she were to try to help. Reward or not, it's just not worth it. Anyway, if she was killed by a bandit, what use would she be to the farm? How would her fellows and friends cope with the harvest and herding? She's more use alive than she is dead. Other people need her, and charging in recklessly would be selfish. Poppy must not be selfish, or she will end up like Daisy. She shivers as she remembers the last fight they had, but then wipes it from her mind. Daisy is an example of who she shouldn't be, yet someone who she could be. Daisys are common in this world, but Poppys are quite the rare find.

What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you:Roleplaying to me is a chance to re-create yourself; the chance to pretend to be a character who you find inspirational or a character who you love to hate. Roleplay allows your imagination to have its own say on what happens in a fictional world. I absolutely love roleplay, simply because of the imagination and drama involved!

What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?:I've been a part of about five roleplay servers before this one, but none of them were up to this standard.
