  1. Good den, sir! I will be able to meet your requests. I am able to build such fortresses should you grant me the materials. God be with ye, Cormac, refugee of the Celtavs
  2. ((Sorry I haven't been online! I've just been away for 3 weeks to Ladakh in India. Is the village still in the same place? When I logged in it doesn't appear to be)) Greetings brothers! If you do not mind, I shall be the village idiot!
  3. Banned for falling asleep. This banning game is serious, you know.
  4. Sarcophagus - Nile. Just finished listening to Burzum's Dark Ambient albums. Not half bad.
  5. Even then, the Slavic cultural region is also massive. You've got the Vikingised Russian Slavs, the more barbaric Poles and the Greekified Bulgarians. The cultures of both a huge and massive. So again, what blend of culture are you aiming for?
  6. Well . . . The Celtic cultural region was massive. Every area was unique in their own way - the Gaulish tribes allegedly had organised armies with ranks whilst the Britons fought as wild warriors. In Ireland the Gaels fought in ritualistic hand to hand combat. Similarly, each individual cultural group would have different methods to building. A Celtiberian style village would have been different to a, say, Gaelic 8th Century Meathian village. What I guess I'm trying to say is what kind of Celtic culture are we emulating? I know quite a bit about pre-Christian Gaelic, Hiberno-Norse and Southern Gallic cultures. If you want me to design structures in Creative mode before building it in the village, then I will (if it's rules-legal).
  7. Some of my ideas for the town: - The main area looks a bit . . . well . . . messy. Instead (and this is going to be hated, I know :D) we could keep the walled area as a sort of gathering place with a longhouse. The houses could go on the outside with another wall surrounding them. It would also defend the farms. The benefit of that is so we have a sort of Oppidum (ish) area. This however will need a lot of work and time that people may not necessarily have. - We need to "grass" the area. We could break a tiny bit of the wall and create a dirt bridge into the main area. After a while, some grass will form in the town itself. We can then destroy the bridge.
  8. This is remarkably awesome. Signed
  9. Minecraft account name: Raphaelv2 Character name: Fionn UiBrannagh Character race: Human Character age: 27 Do any kingdoms dislike you? If so which ones and why?: Not that I'm aware of. What are your survival skills like?: They are not bad, but I am not planning to join as an adventurer. How swiftly can you cross the wilds?: Not very quickly. Again, I am not planning to join as an adventurer. Are you good at remaining concealed?: Pretty badly. Are you good at navigation?: Yes. I can navigate open waters and land easily. Are you a good archer?: Sort of. I have not trained extensively in the art of the bow but I am an average shot. Do you have any particular talents?: As per my post on the guild board, I am primarily a farmer and a builder. I am not one of the adventurer types, though I do enjoy exploration. My contribution to the guild would be the provision of food and the construction of the base instead of exploring. I can put up 32 metre high watch towers in less than a day. I can construct walls very quickly. I have a method of farming that allows the rapid collection of wheat.
  10. Hail potential guild-mates! My name is Fionn UiBrannagh. I am a 27 year old male Human ((well technically I'm an Orc but I'm now roleplaying as a human)). I am a master at constructing things with wood. I have built huts, fortresses and walls with the stuff. I can also run wheat farms that are of a medium size. I have developed my methods from an early age. If you would like me in your guild then please post a reply on this sign. Thank you! Fionn
  11. ((Oh wow! Great time to join the server!))
  12. (if any words are conjoined then I apologize again, this is mostly a copy from my previous application. Some errors will probably remain. Thanks.) Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: Raphaelv2 How old are you?: 15 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: United Arab Emirates, GMT +4 Do you have a good grip onthe English language/good grammar?: Yes, English is not only my first (and only) language that I speak but I am predicted to get an A to A* in my GCSE examinations for both English Literature and Language. Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a Chinese-Irish expatriate who has lived in several countries apart from the UAE including Singapore. I am a first grade Junior black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. I am also learning C++. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: A lengthy period of time. Probably minimum 7 hours, maximum 60. I’m so cool. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: The adoption of a character or personality that is not really who you are. More fun using the Stanislavski method of acting. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: After I grew out of playing knights and Space Empire Defenders I started playing some RPGs. My favourite was and still is Mount&Blade: Warband. It was a fantastic game. My characters would only ever field soldiers from a certain technology group that fitted what the faction I joined or wanted to join. If I was joining the Kingdom of Nords, I’d create an army of Vikings but never an army of horse archers, for example. If this helps as well, from the age of five, up until last year in July, I was a member of a drama group. My roles included a warrior who killed a plague to society, a slave trader, a waiter and a perverted little brother. I learnt the basics of method acting there. It’s made me appreciatethat role playing is not very easy at all, if you’re doing it right. In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: The use of out-of-character information in game. If, for example, I was on the other side of the map to another player, I would be meta-gaming if he was telling me information about the latest gatherings on his side and if I was telling him about the latest gatherings on my side. Neither character should know this, so therefore it is metagaming. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Pardon my French please for this one. It’s when noobs or monkeys or dickheads decide to not let the people they’re roleplaying with react to their actions. Here is a rather silly example: P1: I challenge you to a duel! P2: Ok! P1: *slashes at P2’s feet, killing him outright. I then steal P2’s underclothes to make a sail for the ship I’m building using slave labour. Then I take his diamonds for money! Hahahaha! I’m just so cool! P1 was powergaming, and being a total down there on the male anatomy. What do you expect this server will be like?: Fun. I hope it’s worth me applying 4 times before, and if I get denied this time, worth me applying again after 3 months of looking at server updates and forums. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I’ve played mainly on three other MMO servers. NoxImperialis: left because there was too much griefing and probably X-Raying. Mutt’s World Mine Survival: Just got sick of it. The people I was playing with left me (boohoo!). Nyancraft: Immature community. And a bunch of random players swearing and advertising other servers. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Yes. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: Yes. How did you hear about us? Did someone refer you?: No, looked at the Minecraft Quarterly list of supporters, and came across your server. The Lord of the Rings has always fascinated me (I’ve read the book 5 times, watched each movie many more times) and the name of the server piqued my interest, so to speak. The videos people have made for this server are also very interesting. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: Yes. http://www.lordofthe...th-application/ Have you posted this application on our minecraft forum thread yet? If not, just finish it up on here and then copy + paste is over there. (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/832121-%E2%96%91%E2%96%92%E2%96%93-the-lord-of-the-craft-%E2%96%93%E2%96%92%E2%96%91-enter-the-world-of-asulon-o-f-f-i-c-i-a-l-l-y-t-h-e-n-o-1-r-p-s-e-r-v-e-r/): I shall do it. In-Character: Character Name: Klash’Agar What Race are you?: Orc What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Nomad Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Throm’ka, quikspawn! Please! Take a seat! No no, I insist! You agree? Great! Here, let me get you some bread . . . Well, quikspawn, why don’t I tell you a bit about myself, since it looks like you might (or might not) want to spend a bit of time here, considering the time. Well, I am an Orc, as you probably can see. As a child, I grew up far far away from here, in a small village in the far north of the War Uzg. Have you been there? In this village I was something of an anomaly. Instead of wanting to practise the martial arts, I decided that I would farm. And that was a good decision, for my farming ability, over a period of 20 years, gained me a respected position in my small community. And why wouldn't it? I'm feeding them, aren't I? Anyway, my village was subject to many bandit raids, which was not very smart, since Orcs lived there. Maybe they thought that since the village was small, it would provide and easy target. Never did a bandit manage to defeat one of our Orcs in combat, however. I guess we were just too good for them. Do you know much about Orc customs, quikspawn? I’ll take the frightened look on your face as a no. Well, after battle, we Orcs tend to choose a mate. After one unusually hard battle, I went up to a feorc, to court her so we could have some nice kubs. Annoyingly another Orc had seen her at the same time. Well, that would not do. He challenged me to a duel, which for honour I accepted. However that was the worstdecision of my life. I was weaker thanhim, and he defeated me and embarrassed me in front of the feorc. Ashamed, I fled the village and never returned and I never will return. For all I know the people could have moved on and died. After moping around for a bit, I decided that I’d make the most of a bad situation and start a new life here in the wilderness. I built myself a fortress of wood and started my own farm from which I would manage my own food supply. It was, surprisingly, a good life, but maybe a bit lonely. That’s why I’m so eager to welcome guests, quikspawn! Sadly many villainous people like to take advantage of the lonely, and I was attacked several times. This forced me to build stronger and stronger fortifications, including a maze at one point in the front of my house. Not very smart since they just burnt or hacked through it, ruining the work of several months. Every time a bandit would attack I tattooed these bands on my arm, you see. But now I’ve left, which is why you’re sitting in the front of my dirt shelter. Why did I leave? It was too much work defending myself from the bandits. I now decided to re-enter Orc society. That’s why I’m here, and that’s why you’re here right now. You still look frightened and confused. Maybe a good klomp would be fun? No? Quikspawn, come back! *sigh. Well, if he ever sees a 56 year old, red-eyed, sandy brown and friendly Orc who is about 9 feet tall, he should say ug to me. What is are your Character's ambitions?: To rejoin and become a useful part of Orcish society. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): The hoe because I can farm very nicely with it. Though using any other hoe apart from stone is useless – it’s a waste of valuable resources that could be used on a set of armour or a weapon. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Managing farms. I can run animal, wheat and melon farms using my secret Klash'Agar methods. I'm joking, I just flood my wheat farms in water to harvest. Not very high technology at all. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, click here: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/51343-how-to-obtain-your-skin-screenshot/): http://2.bp.blogspot...00/Untitled.jpg An image of me using your infernal technology. Other Information about your Character: I cannot fight well. I can fight, but I’m no more skilled with a blade than a goblin. That is very embarrassing to me. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see asmall halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying tosteal money from him, how does your character respond? Mmm . . . halfling . . . I haven't had meat all week . . . - "Oi lat! Yeah lat! Dem ones wit dem swords! Lok at mi wen I'm blarbing at lat!" The bandits turn around. - "Hahaha! Who are you?" said Bandit 1. - "You look awfully pathetic for an Orc!" said the other bandit. - "Oi! Does lat wont a good klompin'?" I draw my sword, and engage in a battle with the two brigands. - "Glozug Votar, quikspawn!" I engage in a battle with the bandits. Supposing I win: - "Thank you, kind orc for helping me!" - "Wot? Who sed I wos helpin' lat? Lat knows mi has not had a good meal in menny days?" I proceed to challenge the halfling to a duel. Supposing I win again: - *Klash'Agar burps whilst gnawing on a halfling femur. He then proceeds to piss in it's skull after eating the brains. Sweet relief! Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I heard the usual buzz of a market before entering the area.market. Suddenly, as I walk in, the talk stops. The people musn't like Orcs. I wonder why.I approach the merchant's stall and I bend over a bit so I can see the man. - "ello there, what can I do you for today?" - "Lat got dat cobblestone? Mi needs for mi krib." - "Mi got dem cobblestone, how much you need?" - "Futh stack, lat got?" The merchant fumbles around a bit before pulling out the cobble. Both of us haggle over the price. I insist that it's too high, and that I have little money, Orcs being socialist (though I don't use that word, it's too long for my feeble mind). I get angrier and angrier whilst the crowd looks at me more and more strangely. But what would a bunch of weaklings know? - "AAAGH! Little quikspawn! Lat know how much mi has? Futh minas!" - "Mi sorry, Orc, but mi cannot afford to sell futh stack to lat." I check what I have on me. I pull out an iron bar. - "Dis good enough, stoopid quikspawn?" - "Fine. Plus lat futh minas." I grudgingly pay him all I have, plus the iron bar. That has not made Klash'Agar a happy Orc. And unhappy Orcs are not good to have around, even a slightly more weak Orc. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: It's getting quite late in the day. I've walked for hours from Alras. I'm thankful for finding the hut. I quickly look around, to make sure no one is following me. I'd hate to have to share my loot. Happy that I'm alone, I push open the door. In front of me lies a bed and a chest. Fantastic. I open the chest and take a few iron bars, to re-compensate me after spending my only bar for some stupid cobblestones. I'm still angry about that, you know! I leave some bars and the sword in the chest, in case someone else may want it later. I check the time. It's getting extemely late, and the sun is setting over the horizon. Using my resources, I patch up the holes in the hut's walls and place a single torch in the middle of the hut. There I wait for the morning to arrive. When it does arrive, I pack up my things and leave. The fixed hut may be useful for another traveller. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? It had been another day of long trekking. I'm so happy that I find the trading camp. I'm so hungry. I ate my last piece of bread 30 minutes ago. Still I draw my sword, in case a fight occurs. - "Hail!" cries a member of the trading party. I look at the party. It's made up of five people, 4 Northerners and 1 dwarf. I look suspiciously at the dwarf and I leave my sword drawn in case a fight breaks out. - "Lat got dat puub or halfling?" One of the northerners looks shocked. He replies" - "Mi got puub, but halflings is my friend." Again, I negotiate how much it costs, again explaining that I have no money (not mentioning that I spent it on cobblestone - that would be most embarrassing). They stay a bit calmer than the Alras merchant, however, and we negotiate a trade: 3 coal and an iron bar. I feel like I've been ripped off, but I'm so hungry I don't really care. I devour the pork and the party looks at me very strangely. Can someone really have an appetite that large? When I'm finished, I ask for directions back to the War Uzg. They tell me that they don't know and that they're headed to Alras. Disappointed, I wave goodbye. I hear the dwarf let out a huge breath. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character acton this information?: It looks like the whole Orc population have gathered out here on the streets of Strizgoi. Young ones, old ones, women and children were standing and craning to get a better view of the town guard. I push through the crowd to reach the head of the guard. - "Eh brudder der situation is wut?" - "Deh is a lot of bandit on deh road leading out. Lat help?" I agree, not needing any more information. I always like a good klomp. I think to myself that it's a good thing that I came back to the Uzg yesterday, otherwise I would have had a large group of bandits fighting against me! The town guard, made up of several grunts, leave the town with me. As we leave the town we sing RAWR!!!! to energise us for the coming conflict. Outside we challenge the bandits to a good klomp. They look nervously at each other. They hadn't expected us to fight back! After shouting at them for a bit, and banging our swords against our armour and shields, the bandits flee. Disappointed that we didn't have a klomp, the guard and I return to the town. However they're still thankful for my help, the town guard offers me some food. I refuse, saying that I've had plenty of bread this week and I don't need any more.
  13. How long ago did Mogroka'Gorkil and Gorefang'Khor lead the Orc rebellion?
