  1. A rather worn-looking parchment is tacked onto a tree somewhere in the Dominion for no apparent reason. It reads, in a firm Elvish script:

The dells were silent, still, and cold,

Ere Anthos fell, in days of old.

Under the boughs of silver trees,

There came a modest, rolling breeze.

O’er field and stream, o’er hill and dale,

No horn was heard, on mount or vale.

Still Elves there lived, among the wood,

    Surviving, ever, as they could.

    Unquiet lands they did possess,

    Crusader, edgelord, what a mess.

    K...

There are a few attempts at a last line, but they are crossed out. It seems the author has trouble writing poetry outside of couplet-form.

  3. There are a lot of things being said about Jordan here, and I agree wholeheartedly that he is a gentleman (and a scholar) of calm demeanor, pleasant manner, good family values. I have not known him for very long, but we've shared more than our portion of nasty experiences and he has never cast into doubt the high opinion I have of him.

More importantly, however, he is the sort of fellow who will help a person in need for hours if it means that their day will be enriched, and I cannot think of a better quality for a future AT than selfless samaritanism.

How do you wish to work on the wiki? (Writing, updating lore, etc):

I can write articles, and proofread those that exist already.

Have you worked on the, or any wiki before?:

No, but I've meddled with other people's Wikipedia pages.

Which lore are you most familiar with?:

Elven Lore would probably be considered my area of expertise, though I also know a fair amount about the Ascended and Druidic Orders.

Please provide an example of a wiki page you are not satisfied with and list aspects that could be improved:

    https://wikia.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Bokolo

The issues here should be fairly obvious to the casual observer- the article lacks any sort of defined formatting and contains abundant grammatical issues in the form of sentence fragments. An overhaul of headings and a more succinct arrangement of the chickens' colours and habits could resolve most of these problems, which are prevalent in seldom-visited corners of the Wiki.

Please provide an example of a wiki page you see as a model example and list your reasoning:

    https://wikia.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Wood_Elves

Despite a smattering of sentence fragments (again), this article presents facts about the Mali'ame in a direct and succinct fashion perfect for consumption by newer players. The headings and paragraph structure herein allow for easy reading, and expediently deliver the information necessary to play and understand Wood Elven culture- in short, the article accomplishes the goal it is written to achieve.

  7. In a dark room somewhere on Vailor, a brown cloaked elf hunches over a table lit by a single candle. His dark eyes, crimson by the candlelight, survey the letter before him. Another similarly-dressed figure stands at his right shoulder, apparently waiting for something.

“So, Dak’ir Des’Nox deems it wise to reorganize the kin once more,” the hunched figure pronounces slowly. “Curious thing to do, considering how the Ancestors rewarded him last time. Still…”

He picks up the letter, lingers caressing the vellum gently before handing it to the other Dark Elf. “He is kin, and by the ancient laws we are bound to honour the call. We will ride at dawn… Dak’ir will have sore need of an architect in the days ahead... and who better than his beloved brother?”

  9. Raelplayer has been nothing less than an ideal candidate for this position in my entire history of knowing him. He cares deeply about what he does, regardless of caliber or purpose, and I know that he will apply the same passion toward his work as a GM. He is an admirable roleplayer and a hardworking, honourable, and honest man. He has a humorous side, too, and doesn't take himself too seriously despite his sizable amount of gravitas and ability. A sterling +1 from me.

    On a personal note:

I am a bitter cynic when it comes to the server in recent times due to personal issues with members of the playerbase, and Andy has been the only friend to date to have offered to mediate the issue for me. In mine eyes, that doesn't only illustrate his possession of the perfect attitude for this job, it confirms it.

  10. Durion smiles at the characteristically sharp reply, placing his hands on his hips.

"I asked for the Maheral, not for the Architect. As our reclusive whisperer most accurately reminds us, the Children of Silver never forget... I am no exception. I believe her name is Andria, and since there is no Okarir'mali I seek her guidance."

Have you ever been banned or received a strike? If so, link the report:

Once, back in Asulon. There was no report, and I was unbanned shortly.

Do you hold any other staff positions?

    No.

What MMORPG/video games do you play?

I love story-based games, especially ones with deep and interactive lore (The Elder Scrolls, Fable, Witcher, Bioshock, etc.) I also really enjoy historically based games such as Assassins’ Creed. Virtually any title with an interesting story will meet with my approval.

What are your characters? Are you willing to sacrifice any to become a Event member?

My current character is Durion Uradir, who is in a bit of a rut at the moment. He shouldn't be an issue.

What race/group do you think your events would best cater to?

Because I have both role-played with and led the Elves and Druids, I am well familiar with the playerbase and would be able to serve their roleplay needs better than most. However, I have a soft spot in my heart for the Humans and their culture as well, so I would definitely try to orchestrate some events with them. Faith-oriented Human events are largely untried, as far as I know (see No. 2 in Role-play Scenarios below.)

What do you believe are key factors for a successful event?

I think the success of most events can be boiled to the players being content with the part their character played in the unfolding of the event, and that’s really the thing to strive for. This can be in the form of them becoming pivotal and essential to the progression of the event in some way, or even just by finding a fun bit of loot. Though this is not always possible, especially with huge groups, I reckon we ought always strive in that direction.

Keeping things active and exciting is also a great thing to do, so the players stay glued to their screens just to discover what will happen if they press /this/ button, or ask the knight /this/ question. PvE gives them something to do with their mouse-hands, and intricate personality development generates interest in the Event characters.

When was the last time you saw a event?

If I recall correctly, it was Supremacy's spider event in Fiandria.

What strengths could you contribute to the Event Team? Are you knowledgeable in lore or great at organizing? Tell us!

I am knowledgeable in the server’s lore, and have completed several story projects alone and with other people. This means that I am perfectly willing and capable to write up lore and posts when it is required for a particularly intricate event storyline.

Why do you want to be part of the ET?

I want to be part of the ET because I've been part of the team before (and I know that I can do a good job.)

Create three distinct RP scenarios/events that you would organize. 1) For one-3 person 2) For a group of 5-10 3) For a group of 20+

    The Trickster in the Tree

This particular adventure involves a creature for which I wrote (now implemented) lore.

Much like leprechauns, these little beasties would be useful in almost any mischievous Event Team pursuit; whether it be bargaining with players for a chest of gold or granting wishes in the most unexpected of manners. Here is a suggested application:

A small group of players are walking down a forested road when they discover a small man sitting in a tree, wringing his long ears in distress. When asked about his condition, he replies that his trove of treasure is missing, much to his chagrin… for, as any child knows, the magical skill of a draiochta is decided by the amount of his gold!

If the players inquire whether they can help get the poor creature his magic back, the draiochta forlornly informs them that an Adunian woodsman defeated him in a battle of wits and took the gold for his own as a reward. The man has set up a small camp within some distance, and the draiochta promises the helpers the granting of a single wish in return for their help retrieving the treasure.

How the players go about retrieving the treasure is up to them, as the Adunian will be willing to engage in a riddle contest in order to test the players. If the party is of a more violent nature, they can take the small chest by force.

When the draiochta is reunited with his gold, he immediately seems invigorated and begins to hop around energetically. The players can ask him for a wish… which he will grant if it is in his power. If not, he will find a loophole of some kind (in classic leprechaun fashion.) This done, he snaps his fingers, disappearing along with his gold.

    The Sword of Vengeance

     xdrdeir.jpg

    Part One, The Tomb

This event would start off with the exploration of an ancient tomb belonging to a long-dead human knight, who was reportedly involved in a holy quest for a certain artifact of the Faith. A scholarly human excavator has located the tomb and wishes to explore the inner recesses, hoping to find the artifact itself... but his fellow archaeologists have abandoned him due to a disagreement over wages. Despairing, he puts up a poster advertising for help delving the ruin. Players will sign up and meet the excavator beside the entrance to the crypt.

Upon negotiating the help of the players (with minas, promises of fame, or whatever else he has on hand) the excavator leads his new associates into the crypt, torch in hand. The players will then face a short sandstone dungeon of a builder’s design, laced with traps and some mild PvE fun (some pesky spiders have made a nest in the antechamber!) The walls, as the excavator gradually reveals, depict the tale of Sir Magallan, the knight interred within the tomb.

Reaching the main sanctum, the players will be faced with a massive sandstone sarcophagus bearing the likeness of the great Crusader himself. Upon the walls is depicted the last act in the Knight’s life… the finding of the Sword of Ulciscor. With the aid of the excavator, now beside himself with glee, the players may lift the lid to reveal that the sarcophagus is (surprise!) empty. Instead of the body and fabled artifact, they discover a musty note written in some sort of ancient Human language, a series of seemingly indecipherable directions leading to the true resting place of the Sword.

The excavator, who reveals his name to be Petric Tambersbane, immediately leaps upon his donkey and gallops off to the capital, in order to discover the meaning. Players are left to search the Tomb, finding some minor loot. (Renamed but un-enchanted items like The Crusader’s Sword and Hermit’s Staff, for instance.)

    Part Two, The Eternal Crusader

A few Elven days later, Tambersbane will put up another poster, hiring a group of players to ride with him to the new location, which is reportedly a very dark place. Petric refuses to back down despite this, explaining that he has been searching for this knight’s final resting place for most of his adult life. He is tight-lipped and silent regarding any details about the obstacles ahead. Upon discovering the entrance to the sandstone catacombs, the party forges on.

As soon as the brave band of adventurers enter, the earth shakes with an unnatural earthquake and the entrance is entirely collapsed, forcing the players to proceed through the eerie tomb in darkness. Strange whispers are heard, echoing off the vaulted walls and ceilings, and any clerical players will feel an immensely evil power permeating the area. On the far end of the chamber, a doorway seems to be guarded by a shimmering golden veil.

By the light of a single torch, Petric draws an ancient tome from his pack and pages through it, finally revealing all of what he discovered in the capital’s library after the events of Part One. According to the manuscript discovered there, the great Knight and his men were fighting skirmishes with an unidentified dark force, and the last known location of any conflict was here, in the Sanctum of Ulsiscor.

Just as Tambersbane finishes this revelation, a shattering crash is heard and the players feel a deep, reverberating boom vibrating through the stonework. Without any further warning, the adventuring party  are set upon by a gang of demonic creatures, reeking of brimstone and other foulness, which stream in through a newly-made hole in the stonework! Though vaguely humanoid in size and shape, their very flesh seems to be in a perpetuated state of rotting.

Naturally, the attacking aberrations are routed by the courageous members of the party. As the last of the demons are escaping the player’s wrath, however, they run right into the golden barrier and are instantly disintegrated.

As the /players/ enter the barrier, however, they feel whole and healthy, as if the years are falling away from them. Through the doorway lies a cavernous domed central area, with four doorways leading off to different points of the compass (including south, through which the players have just come.) In the center of this circular floor, a knight kneels, illuminated by a single ray of light. Catching sight of the players, he stands and welcomes them, leaning heavily on a greatsword.

Sir Magallan, for Sir Magallan it is, tells a sad tale; he has been forced to maintain this barrier for the past several hundred years, protecting Ulciscor from the demonic horde that overcame his men many years ago. He confirms Petric’s theory that he is the last member of a Crusade against these creatures, eternally besieged by them… unable to cede an artifact of the faith but also unable to escape. Though he has been kept alive by the holy force emanating from the sword, he is becoming disconnected from the worries of the world and wishes to ascend to the Seven Skies. Desperately entreating the players to help him finish the job and take care of the demon threat, he begs them to purge the Sanctum and return once the job is done.  This said, he sinks to his knees once more, seeming too tired to continue speaking.

The catacombs become the location of a battle royale as the players desperately fight to acquire control of the catacombs from the demonic creatures (portrayed by pigmen.) When the adventurers dispatch the last of the horde, they are joined by Sir Magallan, bearing Ulciscor on his back. Thanking the players for their aid, he bids them farewell and blesses them in the name of the Creator.

When the players reach the blocked-up entrance, they find it cleared… with splatters of demonic ooze all over the ground leading outside. It seems that despite their best efforts, a few of the aberrants escaped! As the players contemplate this troubling reality, they are joined by Sir Magallan, who pledges to finish his Crusade now that he has been aided in escaping the Sanctum. Petric, who has been aiding the players, vows to serve with his historical idol Magallan in this.

(This allows for a perpetuation of the event, since the demons can now stage small attacks on nearby villages and both they and Magallan can be used in subsequent tales.)

    • 20+ Players (Any Race!)

    Bertilak The Huntsman

    franfsnyder.jpg

This event will take place in the wilder forests of whichever land the Descendant Races currently inhabit. A syndicated poster in the capitals advertises a massive boar hunt in the woods of the land, organized by a hunting enthusiast named Bertilak. All are invited, provided they keep the peace.

Upon arriving at the specified place and time, players will discover a small collection of tents, occupied by a veritable giant of a man with a bushy black beard and shining green eyes. When all are assembled, the man (who introduces himself as Bertilak) leaps up onto a small podium and booms out the instructions and rules of the hunt… no participant is to leave the area in which the hunt is taking place, no fighting will be had over the boars. He issues a special challenge, too… one that sends shivers down the spines of many. A monstrous boar is known to reside in these very woods, and the man who brings it down will earn eternal renown for his abilities. This challenge stated, he brings a great hunting horn to his lips and sounds a call… the Hunt has begun!

(The Hunt will take place within a certain area, filled with swampland and an amount of spiders which the players will no doubt enjoy slaughtering. Team members will play the boars, and lead them on merry chases across the area.)

Finally, a deep, rumbling squealing is heard from the darkest portion of the forest… and the biggest boar that anyone has ever seen makes his appearance. Black as pitch, with eyes that burn like hellish fires, this beast provides a challenge to all but the heartiest of men. As the towering behemoth notices the men, drenched in boar blood from the day’s festivities, it becomes visibly furious… and so, the battle is joined.

Through sheer numbers alone, the huntsmen manage to bring the boar to heel. Bleeding badly, the massive beast collapses… and the clearing in which the battle has been proceeding is filled with a blinding flash of green. As the hunters recover from the blinding light, they hear a very familiar booming laugh. Bertilak stands where the boar lay not a moment before, covered in scratches and bleeding, but somehow very much alive.

Smiling broadly, he congratulates the players on their valiant battle with him, and invites them to dine with him on the catch of the day so that he might explain his reasoning for his exercise. As the adventurers return to the pavilion camp, they discover a feast laden for them upon the grassy ground, complete with mead, roast boar, and plates and silverware.

As the players dine with him, Bertilak laughs and drinks with them heartily, explaining that he is a man o’ the woods, capable of shifting into his chosen animal at will. He makes many references to Cernunnos of the Druidic Order, calling him the Horned Lord in a reverent fashion. Whether this makes him a Druid, however, he will not say.

All good things must eventually come to an end, and Bertilak bids all farewell, granting the best hunter of the day a boar spear of dark ash (a renamed sword, “Bertilak’s Spear”.) If players desire more, they may ask, in which case he will also dispense a smelly pair of boots rumored to prevent sinking in a mire (renamed leather boots, “Boar Hunting Boots”.)

If players return to the spot of the event on subsequent days, they will find an empty space… as if Bertilak never existed in the first place.

I have no plans to leave, should I be accepted.

    Thump, thump.

The elf’s boots sounded upon the ground, his steps even and measured as he walked along the path towards the Refuge.

    Thump, thump.

He had not been in the company of his people in years now; his eyes, once young and full of hopeful ambition, were wiser than they had been. Even so, his features had not changed; and he wore the melancholy visage of Durion Uradir. The armour upon his shoulders was silver as the moon and stars, clasped with a midnight-black cloak that streamed from his shoulders like a banner.

Under his breath, the Aheral sang.

    "El’acaele’narnirii iller acaele’narn ito el’acaele’narnirii’ata."

The suffix was sung with a small snarl, his thin lips curling as the cursed word issues from them. His steps become more deliberate, quicker now, and the dark cloak billows from his shoulders as he treads through the rain. And then... unseen by those who might behold this spectacle but all-too-visible to his tortured eyes:

Ghosts. They had always been seen as such, elves speaking in hushed tones of the spectres of silver and black that had inspired such fear in Thales… all gone now. His head jerked to the side, face contorting as he struggled to clear his mind. Lyu walked beside him, and his sister Vallei... Camernor Par'von and even Sinyail Maehr. Gone from this earth.

    "El’acaele’narnirii’ata kina’fih ito el’acaele’narnirii."

Truth is written by the victors; what it was before, matters not. He was indifferent to it; that was gone too, swept away by the march of time. What remained now was the original purpose, the purpose which, in retrospect, should have united them.

The song was finished, the last line omitted. There was no need for it, for his march was over, and the Refuge stood before him. Durion gazed at the construction, frigid green eyes gliding over the familiar stonework with a certain starved fondness. Raising a gauntleted silver hand, he shouted a greeting.

The Wicked Moth sought the Maheral.

  13. My experiences with Raelplayer have revealed to me an honest, virtuous, and dutifully hardworking gentleman, one whom many of us (including myself) would do well to emulate. Rael has, in my experience, a deep and profound knowledge of how the playerbase of LoTC works; their quirks and personal roleplay needs. As this is evident both within and without the realms of Human roleplay in which he has become influential, I support this application without reservation.

My support may not be worth what it once was, but I urge the gentlemen of the Event Team to give Rael a shot at proving his worth; he'll match and surpass the standard you're looking for, as he once did for me.

And so, without further deliberation, a +1 for a good friend.

  14. Upon receiving word of this new advancement from a friend, the Moth in question lifts his shoulders and lets them fall, letting out a soft sigh.

"Hm. Well, tis' a pity that we did not unmask more of these bullies, but I hardly think of it as my problem. At their core, ETHIC members are simply second-rate, inactive versions of their Orrarir counterparts, they will do what they did last time."

Rising from his desk, Durion partially snuffs out the candle that was lighting the room. He watches it sputter feebly and die out, wheezing and drowning in its own wax.

    "Precisely."

Aesterwald is the home of honest, loyal men; steadfast in their resolve and true to their word. There is no better place to live, learn, and work, even for one of Elvish blood. Rather than place my trust in the dubious and under-qualified members of the Raine Academy or other such groups, I have chosen to throw in my lot with the Waldenian Mages Guild.

Having retired from other pursuits, I have elected to focus the entirety of my prodigious mental skill on perfecting my long-neglected arcane abilities. Though I am more than a little rusty, I believe that I shall be of great use to the Guild; I bring not only a fairly advanced level of knowledge in my arts but also a great deal of experience in the crafting of staves, which intuition tells me shall become paramount in coming days.

Thallas crouched behind the bush, drawing his newly carved recurve bow backwards, a red feathered arrow coming to his cheek. Breathing in slowly he released the arrow, his "prey" picking flowers by the Acium. The arrow flew over Hermes' head and slammed into a tree. Hermes explodes into anger while Thallas falls over in laughter, scaring away a family of squirells. Slowly stumbling over to Hermes Thallas slaps him on the back, "Enjoy a good joke everyonce in awhile yeah?" before walking off to chat with female mali'ame on the side of the road.
