  1. really disgusting responses to this thread btw

kp passed off his own history and conduct as vicious rumors from opportunistic parties; people believed him because of the blind retarded culture of political partisanship where ppl regularly harass & defame each other over minecraft loyalties. kp used discord admin to silence players who criticized him or spread info about his creepy behavior; staff continued to link the discord on the hub, players continue to use these discords to empower themselves. it is a matter of time before the next high profile abuser uses the exact systems tailored to protect kp to target people.

virtually everyone knew kp was a groomer months before any plan was set in motion to put nectorist on the throne. no one did anything because the only ppl who cared enough to spread info were little harassment cliques; the staff were trapped in this bizarre thought prison where minecraft abusers need due process before they are banned from the server, and somehow the only way to deal with a high profile sexpest on minecraft was to coup him through roleplay, even this was almost stonewalled by staff

feel like we said this the last time this happened, but there is no constitutional right to play on the minecraft server. if you have evidence someone may pose a threat to vulnerable members of our community and underage children, you should ban them. for the most part I'm sure this is already happening for most safety reports, just the ones for players in positions of power receive too much scrutiny and hesitation for the preponderance of evidence

  2. The Abbé Aubergine stands halfway from his portable chair on the dais of Bl. George Basilica, delivering a rousing sermon to newly-minted Blackwald companymen, their wives, and their compatriots.

"Steel your hearts, brothers and sisters, for the curtain of the Great Farce has been drawn, and the unity of Man is at hand. Those would see our human race scattered, ruled over by aliens and sorcerers and tyrants, tremble - their once-proud voices wavering in the tempest of our singular voice. That voice cries for one peace, one law, one Emperor, under God - to carry that smouldering torch of faith out from the recesses of corruption and ineptitude into a single shining future.

Though we will need to sacrifice, know that our sacrifices will be writ into the annals of our prosperous descendants. The names of our valiant dead will be sung in hymns and remembrances by princes, priests and paupers. You only need look around you, and below you - to the skulls of our martyrs, whose memory vouchsafes your eternal reward. Living or dying, you serve a sacred purpose. Go with God!"

The imposing man then receded back into his chair, allowing the priests of the College to continue in their rites.

  3. In retrospect, Aubergine de la Baltas would regret that his days of sipping wine and dusting off old tomes was soon to come to an end. But just as the sojourning Emperor, newly returned to Almaris's shores, he would soon return home - to Providence, to unification.

Everard VI actually was in San Luciano as he wrote the letter, but only saw Baron Otto Morovar of Haense and Joseph Alexander in town!

Aubergine was making his way back to his cell in the Cloister of Bl. George with a midnight snack of muffins and kippers, when through the darkness of the small hours of the night, he espied the strangest sight - that of a small procession of pontifical appointments and Orenian grandées. Their visages all shrouded in the dim light of the street, they beat their sluggish path to the cathedral, around the small yet persistent genus of vagrants camped around the cooking fire.

Clad still in his nightshirt and slumbering cap, carrying his candlelit tray, he watched from the southern transept as Everard VI dictated the Encyclical Letter. By next morning he had forgotten many of his Holiness's diplomatic proclamations, but the experience left him with a lingering worry.

A fat Savoyard quirks an eyebrow, thinking that 'Providence' had a certain cachet, a metonym for the new Orenian order itself. It made him wonder what internal machinations would lead the Empire's finest to rename the city...

  7. A foul look sinks into Aubergine's features as he is forced to put up a sign banning the word 'mommy' from the cloister of St. Humbert College. Sometimes as he sleeps comfortably by the hearth under his silk sheets, the word rouses him into a most disturbing awareness.

I'm not so sure tags have the power you imply. I can brand myself whatever you like, "technical administrator" and all, or "potato planter" (fitting for farmer billy)

Inconsequential change for example, would be adding a new rule or paperwork lol

Sorry, still laboring under the delusion that you are the head administrator, chairman, or whatever. In that case, why not promote someone who's already on the team to Lead Administrator, and give them a tiebreaking vote? Treshure quit unfortunately, but I'm sure someone with the ability to break the perpetual admin deadlock would work wonders for the server in the consequential change department.

Genuinely happy seeing staff dare to make consequential change and I hope more follow in her footsteps. I see your critique but I think it's not targeted at her—or this. I know we're all to blame up here in leadership, but that's not the point. Best of luck indeed

Once you've gotten to the point where the niche video game hobby you do in your spare time needs "consequential change" you have lost all hope. The single most consequential change you could make do would require no effort whatsoever. If you want to see radical, meaningful change on the state of the server can I suggest you just return to being a technical administrator?

Nah, it's not an "entirely new" anything. It's an already existant heist app.

I think we need some clarification here. I'm one mod. It's very hard to get things done as one mod who says "let's open the door to let players do absolutely anything they want with no restrictions" Rule changes go by moderation, then every single admin needs to agree to get it implemented.

I was handed a suggested rule change and modified it within reason to suit their demand and to make it something that might be accepted.

I love that this minecraft roleplay server works exactly like the Democratic Party. Unilaterally popular common sense proposals are completely untenable because they would have to go through House + Senate approval, but billions of dollars in funding for Israel (Oren) get approved without resistance.

"let's open the door to let players do absolutely anything they want with no restrictions" is also a based way to run a minecraft server, barring openly objectionable things like ERP and out-of-character misbehavior. Role-play one of the very few mediums where players really are limited only by their imagination, which is what makes Lord of the Craft so frustrating.

Anyways, best of luck with your project! It seems like you're a real hard worker, which is cool because this is a Minecraft server that a couple hundred people play for fun. But based on what I know about this server you will never be compensated or recognized for any of it. Don't take it like I'm trying to come at you for your initiative, and I hope you find something constructive to work on that also won't change anything fundamentally about the server is run.

Did you read my whole response and see that I'm helping or are you just gonna go with the typical "Staff evil" mindset

Is it more typical than the GM refrain "we can't allow this kind of player conflict, but we could make a gated system to allow you to do it within 30 business days of a properly filed application?"

Of course I read your post. It was three paragraphs long. It also suggests creating an entirely new application for just about the most ridiculous thing imaginable - lighting something on fire in RP - which would require scores of hours writing applications, reading, reviewing them, all for something that could be done in three emotes of RP and a couple right clicks with a flint & steel

  12. 20 minutes ago, Disheartened said:

That one I understand and likely won't alter. Due to all the complications with builds, regions, PRO system etc etc etc it's hard to do large scale damage to things constantly (and trust me, it would be constant without any barrier in place), plus people put tons of work into our builds on server.... BUT.

What if we made a bit of a compromise to see if we can add it as a heist feature? People would have to make apps and it would still be controlled, but it would add more leeway to be able to do that with valid RP. That's something I'd be willing to bring up.

As for your other part, I remember seeing that post and it should be a pretty easy fix and something I'm happy to work on. Someone already brought it up in mod chat so I'll need to check and see if we ever took steps to put anything in place.

    >staff solicit ideas from players

    >player suggests very obvious idea, like removing a rule that makes no sense

    >"no we can't do that, it would be too much work + unfair to PROs"

The only time elves under humans worked was helves under Savoy in 2014-15 and the reiter-welf protectorate, as caelria said people would just **** off or don't bother logging back on

That said, I think a somewhat full-elven autonomous state would work provided they don't just self-segregate in separate ghettos

    i was suggesting elf alts

I'd love to see how many Elves roleplay in a nation conquered by PvPers versus how many just log out and don't come back to LotC. Seems like every time that's happened so far they all go somewhere else like Sutica or Elysium (or a human nation that can protect them). Happened similarly to humans in the War of Two Emperors or so I'm told. Systems like this work great in worlds where people can't just log out. I love activity and RP dynamicism, and I agree war should be freely waged, but bullying people who can't defend themselves into one place so your number is really big and then killing anybody who leaves isn't much fun either. Less heavy handed to just not let fast burning temporary alternative settlements start and dilute activity.

Not every problem can be solved by brute force actual tyranny either. You catch a lot more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. If you want to do Alexander the Great roleplay at least call it what it is rather than masquerading under the banner of server health, because once Alexander the Great is gone the the empire will fall apart just as fast.

This is such a bizarre perspective and there are so many completely mystifying statements being made. Why do you think players would be any less likely to quit if they're forced into a staff-mandated elven Bantustan? Are "elves" and "PvPers" really separate buckets that cannot be intersected? Does playing an elf take away your left mouse button?

But also you're completely unhinged and read way more into my two sentences of text than I could have possibly sought to convey. The goal isn't to march all the elves to India and turn around only when they're afraid of falling off the world. It's to unify a bunch of 4 man shitter principalities who cannot put up any resistance, subjugate Elysium or Sutica, and build a nation out of what remains when the vanquished elven microstates either assimilate or quit.

Functionally this is exactly the same thing you're suggesting. You would have the same petty squabbles under staff-enforced elven unity, except that you would have no victorious governing coalition, no conquering generals, and a leader selected based on staff asskissing instead of merit. The One Malinor Policy would collapse almost instantly, same as any nation that has been sacrilegiously conjured into existence by the staff.

I've felt for a long time that the only way to fix the Elven playerbase is to approve only one Elven nation and deny the creation of any new Elven settlements at all. Do the same thing with the Dwarves and with Orcs. There aren't enough actively participating players to fill the myriad schism communities that plague Elvenkind, or just any race in general on a server that mostly floats around 150. I still remember the discourse about how Savoy's activity increasing directly corresponded to the activity of other settlements decreasing. With our god awful player retention rate, players are basically a finite resource and their distribution needs to be managed or you wind up succumbing to the tragedy of the commons. This'd require management of how vassals are formed, but the multitude of empty landscar vassals plaguing this map has proven to me players aren't responsible enough not to be supervised in their creation anyway.

Every Elf wants to be the leader. Crabs in a bucket.

    "But they'll bicker and fight..."

That's called activity. Exit your hugbox. Roleplay with strangers.

or we could allow warclaims (like they're about to do) and a few like minded players could conquer all these 4 man settlements and form a single elven nation : ))

not every roleplay end needs to be enforced through brute force admin tyranny
