  1. Aris' map does look really really good, but we could bring some of the fields in between the village and the outside so people have to at least walk past it to get into the village. Just an aesthetic notion.
  2. I feel a small group appointed to defend the farthing by the sheriff would do better than some super-secretive halfling organization. Not enough players for it, and they generally don't do very well.
  3. A change of the guard would be nice. And is this pumpkin order going to play any role in the government?
  4. Who is currently sheriff anyways? Wasn't it Bango?
  5. I think a sheriff should be kept in the case of a change to the council system. The Sheriff would be able to dole out sentences, and enact emergency laws, recruit deputies, etc. Also, weekly council ic skype meetings to discuss and deal with issues could work.
  6. I like mountains just because it gives us a nice place to be nestled in. True dat about the Elders. How would we decide who's on the council? How many people do you think would be on it?
  7. Anyone have governmental ideas, or should we just go with the elders system?
  8. Check the map out, it explains it better than my words I think. EDIT: Shiftnative, is that road to the right going to be the highway system?
  9. LEGEND: A:General Meeting Place, Fairground, Docks(?), Inn. D:Most prestigious famliy's burrows B:Well respected family's/people's burrows. C: Menial Labor, Decent people's burrows E:Big ass fields. Note:Scary woods could be turned into more fields.
  10. Busy atm, but I've already sketched some village layout stuff on paper. I will be on paint as soon as possible.
  11. I agree with Dova, that huge body of water doesn't sit right with me. edit: perhaps you could extend the mountain around to block the water off from the main part of the village. Perhaps you could have three peaks like the ones we have now.
  12. I feel like that would make us even harder to find and get to, which is a major problem.
  13. My fellow Hobbits, or whatever the hell you call yourselves now, lend me your ears! As we all know, there are a few problems with the Hobbit community, but we must look ahead to solve them. I think we, as a whole, need to pool our intellectual resources together and start planning. Planning for what you ask? Well, to be quite honest, everything. We need to talk and brainstorm. We need to be proactive. We need to be prepared to improve when 4.0 comes out. So what can we do in the meantime? We can draw out maps, draft new governmental systems, etc. Anything that you feel needs to be proposed for 4.0 needs to be brought before the entirety of the little folk and judged accordingly. Post your ideas to the forum, and we'll begin to create a better future for our roleplay. 4.0 waits on no sub-race, so lets get started guys. Thanks you shiftnative for the wip 4.0 map GOVERNMENT
  14. It's days like these I'm glad I'm a Hobbit and don't care about stuff.

  15. Alright, I'm seeing a lot of really good ideas in this thread, most of which I'd never think of. Yes, I've been absent from the server for a while, but let me spew a bit. I do feel that rp should be more fluid. That, at least to me, is what makes it so fun. The calls for a reformation and stream-lining of the war-claim system seem fairly deserved. Most of the wars I've seen have usually resulted in a lot of ooc bickering. I feel that the aforementioned streamlining of the rules could help with this, but guys, If your character or nation is crossed by another, don't take it to the forum. Plot against them and kick some ass. This cause and affect system keeps it ic, fluid, and extremely fun. But most of all be courteous. Maybe they did burn your fields and relish in the lamentations of your women-folk, but you best be a gentleman about dishing out your vengeance. Now, to the clashing opinions about these new fangled plug-ins. Yes. We need both of them. People say that the magic plug-in is not important because it only affects a small portion of the server. Wrong. Magic is such an important part of the lore and general atmosphere of the server, and it does need and deserve a system to work with. On the other hand, people say that the profession plug-in is less important than the the magic plug-in. Once again, Wrong. People need a way to reliably make their minas. While I personally like to operate of a non-plugin assisted method, the server seems to want that for jobs and such, so I will not argue on that point. Onto the antag. I was witness to a rather brutal attack by wither skeletons a while back, and I think the antag is great in almost all regards, but didn't the undead already present a threat that unified the playerbase? I think we need to get some good ol' fashion internal conflict going on. Pitting the players against eachother, in my opinion mind you, makes for such interesting rp. We need a proper war that makes a great deal of fun, but doesn't get embroiled in useless ooc rules and bicker-fests. Make fun not lore, right? New admins are good too. If the other staff and especially the players feel a need for it, by all means, go ahead and recruit a few worthy players, mods, or whatever. They can bring fresh ideas, provide helpful input, and just be good beasts of burden. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL: I think our staff is doing a GREAT JOB. You can throw accusations at them, but I do feel they are going above and beyond their call. However, feedback is important, and I feel most if not all of this thread is chock-full of constructive feed back. Good hustle staff, and keep up the good work.
  16. Alliteration.... Lots of of alliteration.
  17. I do believe rp is so much more enjoyable when half of the entire farthing's goods aren't spirited away by malicious little orc children.
  18. For real though, Posco and I have grand and fantastical things planned for the future.

  20. One, we've yet to implement the cantankerous chicken. Two, just wait for the college kids to get on winter term.
