If I had to guess it will happen once, maybe twice in the next two years albeit I won’t be shocked if it never happens does.

And will said ST/GM/Admin be allowed to continue RPing that character since they’re staff?

This should really only apply if the character is dead and unplayable by normal players.

And even then with characters from staff, becoming a patron/god should render the character unplayable to them as well, requiring other staff members to RP them, or else it’s just a path to godhood for the staff.

I don’t like it. I see attempts to dethrone the current gods in our future if this follower->patron->god pipeline remains in place.

  3. Given the Aspects are, in fact, two (plus one “secret”) distinct aengudaemons, how do they fit with these new covenants? Are they a covenant? Are they grouped together under a larger covenant? Are they split between covenants but still working together when it comes to nature? What’s the plan here?

  4. Yeah, it was part of how broken that quote box was. It was also putting an invisible box over half the screen, blocking the quote and edit buttons. I did some css stuff in my browser to get at the edit link so I could remove it, though. All good now ?

EDIT: We are doing some work fluffing up some of the language and clarifying some vague points, so I will be updating the lore when we’ve finished.

EDIT 2: Edits are done for now. There may be more language fluffing later.

EDIT 3: Updated after ST feedback. Removed limb regrowth to squeeze down into a group A creature, supported bonzais to continue supporting existing characters.

  5. Thanks for the praise! I’m really happy with how the lore turned out ?

See, here’s the thing with flammability. People have it in their head that wood burns really well. Well, no. dry wood burns well. Have you ever tried to burn freshly cut wood that hasn’t had time to dry yet? It really doesn’t want to burn. Enough fire can do it, but by that point, it’s engulfed in flames anyway.

All this is to say that the line is stating that despite them being plants, they don’t have a specific weakness to flame. Fire will burn them a bit, and they’ll eventually catch on fire if engulfed in fire, but so will a human.

The way I think about it is that they are already not that suitable for combat. They don’t gain any combat advantages and they are actually more susceptible to losing a limb in combat than a descendant (doesn’t matter if it will grow back in an RP year, that doesn’t help in the immedate term), so making them go up like they’re dehydrated in the middle of a drought is not necessary to balance them out.

Adding some pictures and changing the font/colour of the text can really drastically change the formatting experience, making it more pleasant to the eye.

Yeah, the font got slightly mangled in the copy/paste from the Google Doc to here. I'll spend some time cleaning it up and adding images tonight.

EDIT: I lied. I ended up doing the changes in the morning at work. Shush.

I think it only fair that things like “powersharing” be re-evaluated under the new system. We have told so many other magics that they need to pull back on the supposed power creep so having druidic batteries (or any effect that lessens exhaustion when you reach tier 5) seems contradictory.

I mean, the point is that it is several druids working together to achieve something they otherwise couldn’t on their own. Would you have an alternative for group use of the magic?

  8. Name of your plant:

    Malin's Heart

(Optional) Link to a picture of the plant + name of the artist:

Habitats - Check all that apply:

    Forest
    Plains

    Summary of the plant:

Malin’s heart is one of the few painkilling plants available. Unlike Blissfoil and Frostvine, which can provide numbing in a local area where applied, Malin’s heart will numb the entire body. It has been found growing in forests and plains as far back as Anthos, and possibly even further. The plant is known for its white flowers that bloom for only a day or so at the height of summer.

Can you use this in combat:

    No

    Characteristics of the plant:

This plant grows among other, more common wildflowers in plains and forests. This plant grows about three feet in height at its largest. It grows a large central stalk with several short offshoots and several leaves alternating on each side of the stalk. At the height of summer, for one day, white flowers bloom on the ends of the stalks. Due to the plant’s relatively short period at bloom, it isn’t terribly common in the wild, however, it does grow well in cultivation, rendering it more common than its presence in the wild would suggest.

The stalk of the plant, when chewed, can fully numb the entire body for minutes at a time. This can be useful for surgery or other painkilling applications where a local painkiller like Blissfoil can’t cover a wide enough area. While an overdose can prolong the period of numbness, it is generally safe to use under healer supervision.

(( As an OOC note, its appearance is loosely based off the Maximilian sunflower. ))

    (Optional) Origins of the plant:

Alchemy usage (put N/A if none):

    N/A

    Availability?

Common - Anyone can RP finding this plant if accepted.

    Character's Age: 159

    Character's Original Race: N/A

    Transformed form:

    Creator's MC Name: N/A

Creator's RP Name: N/A (The Aspects?)

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:
Cervitaur are similar in build to a centaur, but with the lower half of a deer. Despite their fleshy appearance, they are actually plant. They were created by the Aspects and as such, retain a basic connection to nature (Communion). They aren't able to learn any druidism above and beyond this innate connection, however. (Nor any other magic)

Cervitaur are genderless and asexual. When a cervitaur dies, a tree grows from its corpse that produces a single large fruit that a new cervitaur is born from. The tree dies soon after the fruit has ripened. This cervitaur generally retains some of the memories of the cervitaur that had died.

Cervitaur are do not take to domestication, will not live in cities, and absolutely do not like people trying to ride them (and if anyone tries I *will* trample you...). They tend to be easily manipulated with mind magic and are pretty flammable.

Do you have a magic(s) you are dropping due to this app? If so, link it:
    No

Do you agree to keep the MT updated on the status of your magic app by using the Magic List Errors topic?:

Are you aware that if this creature's lore is undergoing an activity trial and that trial fails, you will no longer be able to play this creature and will be forced to either revert the character back to its normal form (if it was a transformative type) or stop playing the character entirely (if it is an entirely new creature)?:
    Yes

Do you consent to accepting what may happen to this character?:
    Yes

Have you applied for this creature on this character before, and had it denied? If so, link the app:

  10. Look, I don't want some sort of powered up ghost form for druids to strive for as a power grab, and I'm encouraged by the brainstorming session they had the other night when deciding how to revise this. How about instead of complaining about the possibility of a major rewrite of this, you instead wait and judge the rewrite based on its own merits?

  11. This does not seem balanced, in that if someone is looking to create the most powerful druid possible, a guardian spirit would be the only way to go as you would get new magic AND get to keep all your old magic? Eh? The drawbacks are really the bare minimum of standard spirit weaknesses and "You come back this way instead of through the monks or a soul tree."

Next, this does seem to do a bit of an end run around shapeshifting imo. You can possess an animal? Ehhhh. That's really pushing it.

Then there's also the fact that druids are basically obligated to revere these creatures. Why wouldn't they? They are beings of pure druidic energy who were former respected druids serving the Aspects will more directly and even more powerful than before.

Personally, I don't mind alternate states of being for a druid, but they can't simply be more powerful versions of druids. That just makes becoming them a power grab. You want a good step toward making this thing palatable to me that may be unpopular? Take away some normal druid abilities when they become this. Have them trade some of their existing magic for their new abilities. Make it something where the druid has to weigh what aspects of druidism are important to them. A good one to take away, actually, would be Control. Control lets the guardian spirit do an end run around being unable to directly manipulate physical objects by having roots and vines do it for them or manipulate the physical world in other ways that they just can't as spirits. Without Control, being a spirit becomes a much more significant drawback for these abilities. I would also add in taking away Shapeshifting if they have it because that would let them take a physical form. (And hey, you have your end run around shapeshifting anyway so why have both that and shapeshifting?)

Overall, I just can't support this thing in its current state.
