  1. AAAAACTUALLY....

That isn't entirely true. Conjuration is very capable of creating hellish void plants to grow and entangle people, on top of animals.

Those are fundamentally temporary because void != nature. Void conjuration returns to the void when the spell is done. If the generic "nature magic" has any sort of permanence, it's breaking lore.

  2. I really don't see why it's such a huge deal. The point was to give mages a PVP aspect. It's not like we're going to close up magic again, everyone can learn unlocked subtypes whenever they want, that was the deal when the MT was dissolved. People can still do just that. Now makes can be makes in fighting though.

The point being argued is that the plugin is at least partially unlocking a locked subtype.

  3. Just because someone has magic involving nature doesn't make it Druidism. If you have a huge problem with it, hunt them down like the wannabe Druid heretic filth that they are :P it's not like them having the spells lessens or cheapens your RP in any way.

What other nature magic does LotC have?

  4. We strive for accessibility to magic for as many people as possible, there will of course be spells guarded by certain people with keys when necessary but as few things as possible should be clique-based. Don't be mistaken, these are still difficult to acquire. :)

So druid magic is getting partially unlocked by the plugin?

  5. try harder

Some magic is simply nature magic, and the more advanced spells are druidic in their nature. (pun intended).

    They are all available. :)

What do you mean by nature magic? Druid magic is LotC's nature magic O.o

I suppose conjuration could conjure plants, but by the very nature of the void that's not permanent.

  6. Q: Are there any spells for the locked subtypes?

A: At the moment, no. This is in short because such spells are usually very particular. Such specific spells are generally harder to code, and considering they'd be made for a (purposefully) small, exclusive group of people, it is not conducive to meeting our deadlines. However, there's a pretty solid chance such spells will exist in the future, and the code to support such spells is already functional.

Does this mean that the druid magic you showed off several months ago is not currently in game since druid magic is a locked subtype?

  7. Neither are you. Yet here people are demanding no wars because THEY do not want it. It is not just the instigator's responsibility to make the rp fun but the reciever as well! It is not a take situation, it is a give and take situation. Roleplay is not as selfish as you may think it may be. It is not one person's job to make roleplay fun but everyone's job to flow with the roleplay and make it enjoyable for everyone.

This goes both ways. If a group is going to whine about being warclaimed for taking land, what exactly do they want OOCly? Sympathy? Special Treatment? It goes both ways.

Yes, it does take some give and take, but a defender can't go find a different person to defend against if the attacker isn't making it fun. They are stuck with this not-fun force coming in and smashing their RP. The whole point of consensual warclaims is that it requires people to talk and make things fun if they engage in war with each other. The raid wars are a result of the fact that raid rules are so lax right now that it's easier to keep not giving a **** about anyone else's fun by using raids than it is to put in the effort to make a warclaim that is fun for everyone. There is always going to be those people who just aren't interested in such and such type of RP, and if it's the kind of RP that instigates itself on another group, it's going to cause OOC strife. Is leaving an obstinate group who refuses war RP alone really worse that forcefully smashing the RP of unwilling groups? These are the two ways both consensual and forced warclaims can be abused.

I suppose the whole point is that effort needs to be put in to make it fun for more than just the attacker, or else it turns into RP destroying OOC drama that no one finds fun.

  8. You are not entitled to your own special area, no-one is. You RP as a part of the LOTC world, not as a special part of it unless you're playing an event character or such. Since you are part of the world, you are subject to the ebbing and flowing of it.

War has been a fact of life throughout LOTC, as much as high fantasy is or a Minecraft is. There always has been war, and most likely there always will be. You are role playing as a moving part of a world that on the large scale nigh-on revolves upon war. The aim is to have fun yes, but the point is to have fun through role-playing as part of this world, a world of bloodshed.

You need to accept that not only are you not a special part of LOTC, but that you are also part of a world of war.

You are not entitled to force your own brand of RP on other people. By pushing your RP on other people, you have the responsibility to make it fun for them. The instigator of RP has a responsibility to make it fun for not just themselves. You need to put work into getting the people yo are warring with on the same page as you and interested in the war. You have to. Yes, both forced and consensual warclaims can be abused. Forced warclaims can be abused worse. If you're not willing to make the RP appealing for your enemy, then what is it you really want, OOC?

EDIT: Wardog is saying it really well *points*

  9. The posters get replaced with an added note.

This project is meant to make this information freely available, including to other libraries. If I am able to collect enough information, then I intend to condense it into a book. So, please, help me collect this information. It deserves to be remembered and shared.

  10. Opinions are meaningless. Why is the post-modern world so adamant that if one can **** an opinion then it must be gold?

You also don't even fully recognize the point, but alas I probably won't be furthering this and hope that firespirit44 can finally lay the law.

My point is that the loss has to actually have a point and bring fun RP. If it doesn't, then it isn't worth doing. I would rather have no war then wars where half the people involved aren't having fun. This isn't medieval Europe, this is a game where there are people on both sides that should be getting fun out of these events. You can have loss, but you have to put effort into making sure it's fun for the people losing as well. This is not about grabbing land because oh, your country happens to be expansionist. No. You should be going out of your way to make it fun, and if it's not fun, then don't complain that people don't want to give up their RP hub in exchange.

  11. Do you know the difference between rights and privileges? Do you actually understand that by applying and gaining acceptance that you are as likely to be affected as you are able to affect? The logical conclusion is that you are not guaranteed your fairy-tale land, a chunk of Minecraft area that is absolutely yours with no means of losing it? Hell, it doesnt even need to be lost at the hands of raiders, it can be lost at the hands of some Drake 4.0 that comes to turn the land into a blanket of ash and tindle for all we know.

But the drake would be far more rewarding RP, in my opinion, than the raiders.

  12. I do not believe we need a warclaim team. Warring kingdoms in the medieval Europe did not have a war council to decide who got the **** kicked out of them. If a king offended another king, it was war. If someone wanted land they believed was theirs, it was war. Allow freedom of war and chances are common sense will kick in and people will stop being so damn greedy about land.

    Looking at you Alras.

They had death and limited supplies to regulate the frequency of wars. We don't. We obviously need something that Medieval Europe didn't. I've made my suggestion of separate rules for in and out of war.

  13. I'm going to suggest actually having two sets of rules, one for during a war, and one when not in a war. Out of a war, warclaims can be consensual, and raids highly regulated. In war warclaims can be forced with much looser rules on raid (or whatever the two sides agree to for the rules of the war). To get into a war, one side either issues a warclaim or in general declares war. If the other side agrees, raids, or issues a warclaim of it's own, the two groups are at war under the wartime rules.

  14. Leyun looked at the sign hanging in Cloud Temple. She had started her search for tomes mentioning Malin in Thales, and while she had intended to ask the Monks as well, this knowledge gathering area would be the perfect place to ask. She just had to wait for them to open it.

  15. Posters have been hung up in both Haelun'or and Cloud Temple. The posters read:

Children of Malin, it is an unfortunate fact that we have largely allowed the father of our race to fade from our collective memory. There are some mali out there who don't even know who Malin is. To counter this, I am trying to gather everything still remembered about him. From mentions in writings to passed down oral traditions. If you have this sort of information, please bring it to the Druid's Grove. The preservation of this history benefits all mali.

  16. I have access to the books that were in the Aegis Druid's Grove library and a file containing most/all of the books stored before leaving the Fringe. I can not find this book in that stuff. It is possible no one in game has the book anymore, and the Druids never got a copy in Aegis. If HeroZeero has the file containing all Aegis books, then he is the person to ask.

  17. Leyun looked at the poster curiously. Elder Tree? Born? Elder Trees didn't come along without either a lot of time or a lot of druidic coaxing. Something seemed strange there. Elder Seed? What was that? Seeds from Elder Trees didn't bare any special properties. It was all quite strange to her, and the writer of the poster claimed it had spoken to him? Stranger still. Leyun decided the best way to deal with this was to learn more.

It was hardly the longest walk she'd ever gone on to reach the Talonii encampment, and above the newly grown tree stretched. Something didn't feel right with it, but she couldn't quite pinpoint what. Perhaps the best thing to do was ask around. Certainly someone would be willing to share the history of the tree with her. So she approached the gate, looking to be let into the settlement.

(( Someone want to RP with me? :3 ))

  18. Leyun frowned. Once again she had found herself cleaning up dead bodies in the grove. The poster, though, caught her attention. Both the claims made by it and the person who had wrote it. She would be writing Elorna and Lucion. It wasn't elven rebels who lay dead in the grove. It was druids.

  19. The fact that you seem to max out at 50fps sounds like vsync to me. If you can't get a better framerate than 50-60fps no matter how low the settings, that's definitely vsync.

As for shaders, /I/ take a hit down to around 20fps, and I'm on a GeForce 880m (plus maxed out settings and a 128x128 texture pack)
