Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any
definitions from elsewhere!:
Role-playing: Role playing is expressing actions and emotions
through specific detail expressed from the characters. It is not just simply
saying words, but also showing emotion, and acting out different actions.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is doing things such as speaking
another character’s name without actually meeting said character in-game. It is
also things such as knowing a person’s back-story, or anything else about them
without first being told those details in-game.
Power-emoting: Power-emoting is forcing your attacks or moves on
other players. Such examples being: “So-and-so stabbed So-and-so in the head.”
A proper route to take would be “So-and-so made a stab for So-and-so’s head.”
In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:
Full Name: Lucius Tovalin
Current Age: 18
Sub-race (if any): Northerner
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): I grew up in Anthos
in the Human city of Salvus. I knew of my older brother Vladimir Tovalin, but
never saw him, seeing as he lived many miles away in a land I do not remember
the name of. My mother raised me because my father died not long after my
birth, or so I’m told. My days were usually boring, filled with just helping
around the house, and going to buy food and other goods from the stores
in-town. Soon enough I grew to a suitable age to venture out from Salvus, and
out into the world. My first plan was one given to me by a bartender when I was
a child, to go to Kal’Halla and start a life there. It seemed my only real
choice, so it is what I did. I journeyed to Kal’Halla in one single day, and rode
the boat there over the course of 2 months.
As soon as I
arrived in Kal’Halla, I felt famished so I went to find anyone selling breads
and ale. While searching for a suitable shop, I came across someone that looked
surprisingly similar to me. He noticed as well and approached me. I was
partially startled because he was wearing a suit of iron armor and bearing a
sword. He asked me my name and I told him, “Lucius Tovalin.” He was completely
shocked. He stood there with his mouth gaping and tears in his eyes. I asked
him why he was so astonished and he said, “My name is VLADIMIR Tovalin, your
older brother. I didn’t know if you were still alive or what.” We both had
tears in our eyes and hugged as others watching looked on in awe, that two long
lost brothers had finally found each other. He asked me what I was doing in
Kal’Halla and I said, “Just trying to start a new life after leaving my, er…
our, house.”
“Well come with
me, brother, I’ll show you around,” he said, and I very willingly followed,
eager to see what was to become of my life now that I had met my brother. He
showed me out to the wilds where he lived, and gave me a room in his humble
manor. To this very day that is where I live, in peace, and eagerness to get
out into the world and do anything with my brother.
Ambitions for the Future: I aspire to an
adventurer and great soldier like my aforementioned brother, and go on amazing
journeys with him to who knows where.
Personality: I am generally
feisty and eager to fight most things that enter my path. I stay away from most
delegations and stick to going wherever I feel like going. I rarely cry, and
very easily become angry.
Skills: I am quite skilled with
a sword and bow, which I prefer, but I am quick to learn new things.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your
skin): I am a light skinned
male with medium length blond hair, bright green eyes, a suitable build, and
long legs and arms and legs. I usually dress as just a normal person in a
shirt, cloak, cloth leggings, and leather shoes.
Any
other details you wish to share about your character: None.
Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be
answered with a minimum of one
paragraph which must describe the event in
full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____
1. Whilst in the mighty human
capital you notice a dark-clothed
figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?
Answer: I swiftly approach the guards, warning them of the shifty
character approaching. “You might want to keep an eye on that dark-clothed
figure over there. He is making his way for the Emperor’s palace, and most
likely with villainous intent.” I stay with the guards as they approach the man
making his way for the palace. He turns around and pulls out a dagger. I run up
and push him to the ground and hold him there, as the guards arrest the man. On
his person we find a letter saying “Murder the emperor and you’ll be rewarded a
great amount.” The guards nod to me and I turn to leave. They ask who I am and
I simply say “Lucius. Have a good day men!”
2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you
come across a large clearing,
in which sits a small
cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable
old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed
bandits - they appear to be
threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?
Answer: I look for a moment at the scene happening, thinking about
what would happen if I were to help, or just leave. After about two minutes of
debating with myself, I decide I am not strong enough to take on these bandits.
I turn around, in complete shame for myself that I could not help this old man.
On my way back to the Great Crossing I encounter two brave knights. I tell them
of the scene happening in the woods, along with directions to the Old Man’s
cottage. I tell them to come see me back at the Great Crossing when they are
done at the cottage. They return much later saying that they managed to save
the Old Man and defeat both of the bandits, and that I came just in time. I
thank the knights and turn to be on my way, more happy with myself that I
managed to get the man help, even if not from me directly.
3. You are standing within the
mighty human capital when
you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of
general goods - he says that he is selling just about
anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to
haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that
happens).
Answer: “Hello sir,” Lucius says. “What are you selling?”
“I be selling a wide variety of goods, name something and I’ve
got it,” the small man says.
“So do you by chance have any iron for sale?”
“Of course I do! How much would you like?” The man has a strange
smile on his face, but Lucius continues to speak with the man.
Lucius looks into his pouch to see how many minas he has. He
sees that he only has 150 minas.
“I would like to buy, let’s say, eight iron ingots.”
“Hmm.” The small man rubs his chin. “How about for that 200 minas?”
“What about 150? That seems like a fair price for eight iron
ingots.”
“I’m not sure, I worked hard to get this iron and I don’t feel
like giving it up for that little.”
Lucius looks into the man’s eyes with a smile saying, “If you
sell it to me for 150 minas I’d be glad to let all know of the amazing prices
you have here. Men and women from all across the land would come to your shop
to buy your goods. You’d become a very wealthy man.”
The small man thinks for a moment. After a few minutes of
pondering he holds out a hand with a smile. “I guess if you really think that
could happen, I’ll sell you the eight iron for 150 minas.” Lucius hands over
his bag of minas saying, “There you go sir, 150 minas. I’ll make sure to tell
people of your amazing deals on my travels. Have a nice day!”
“A good day to you as well sir!” Lucius leaves, telling many he
comes across of the man’s amazing prices, feeling good about himself for
helping not only himself to some good prices, but others as well, and also
helping the small man to earn much money.
