  1. Left hand path = Empowering yourself and your own ego by breaking social taboos and working against the powers that be

Right hand path = Fighting for a group and/or the powers that be in order to achieve a greater esoteric goal.

pro-demiurge = wanting to restore the creator

anti-demiurge = wanting the creator to remain in pieces

Xionism is a left hand path pro-demiurge religion, although it pretends to be a right hand path pro-demiurge religion. It wants to be Gnosticism so badly but in reality is just confused Satanism, which is better portrayed by Ibleesianism. Xionists hate the Aengudaemon and want them dead because the Aengudaemons vaporized Aegis and created the Abyss, but go about defeating gods by making themselves gods through wanton murder. Ibleesains want to become gods and usurp the Aengudaemons as well. The only difference is Ibleesians directly acknowledge they are embracing evil to empower themselves and become gods, while Xionists post about how their grey morals are actually creating a better future because even though I kill 10 million pinktags when I’m a god it will be sunshine and rainbows. As divine said humanism would better achieve the Xionist philosophy than any dark magic since Xionism is literally just Ibleesianism except with a morally grey, delusional coat of paint. Orcish Xionism too is ultimately flawed, since the Spirits are an Aengudaemonic creation, and killing all the Aengudaemons would include Apohet and his realm. It’s not really Xionism at that point, it’s just Spiritualism. Enslaving the Aengudaemons or spirits to empower oneself is interesting, but it’s just another example of pro-demiurge self-empowerment seeking to elevate oneself for personal gain, even if the lie is that ultimately you’re helping people. If this was actually done in a manner which didn’t involve wanton destruction and to create a better world, it could make sense, however the end goal always seems to be godhood for a select few which ultimately just makes it discount Ibleesianism. In summary: Hail Iblees. (This post was brought to you by [REDACTED])

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Smoggers

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Smoggers are macro-automatons which exceed the ordinary size limitations of standard Animii constructs. Smoggers function similar to automatons, cycling an alchemical fluid through a series of pipes and tubes to move mechanical limbs. Unlike Automatons, Smoggers utilize gear stomachs and red oil instead of gear hearts and alchemical lifefluid. Gear stomachs dissolve red oil and convert it into kinetic energy, creating a toxic byproduct known as smog. Smog is poisonous to all life, and slowly kills the flora about the machine as it runs.

Since Smoggers are macro-machines, they take 2 OOC weeks to construct alone, although with assistance they can be completed quicker. The size of a Smogger gear-stomach is based on the weight and size of the machine, with larger machines requiring larger gear-stomachs and more red oil. Red Oil is an alchemical mixture which is essentially standard life fluid mixed with redstone dust. A Smogger larger than the size of a 2 story house requires a MArt. Smoggers, despite their size, are relatively simple machines when compared to Animii. They may move their limbs in basic motions, but have no brain and must be directly controlled by an operator. The void is Anathema to Smoggers, and the use of voidal magic in close proximity to a gear stomach will cause the Smogger to malfunction and possibly break down.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Smoggers is a separate magic to Animii, working on constructs larger than the size of a horse or olog. They are NOT the same as animii, however, as they do not have any intelligence of their own and require an operator.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Father Stor assembled the various plates, pipes, bolts, nuts, valves, and gears, and started to work on the core of the machine, what would eventually become the central engine of the Smogger. Stor started by assembling a series of rods and brackets in a spherical shape, bolting them together as he arranged them on the riser. The chassis of the machine began to form as the priest worked, soon growing too heavy for the man to move alone.

Stor took two large hooks attached to chains upon the ceiling and ran them over the chassis of the engine. Tugging to ensure they were firmly in place, the priest then whistled and two laborer automatons began to turn a crank, lifting the engine into the air. “Halt!” The priest cried and the ascent of the chassis stopped. Father Stor meandered about the machine chassis then, bolting on a series of plates with holes already cut into the body. The engineer affixed hinges about the machine engine, that its interior could still be accessed with ease. With the crank of his wrench the hollow exterior of the engine was complete.

Stor then set to work on the internals of the engine, inserting large metal tubes through the holes in the machine and drawing them all about a central void. He added to that exterior tube-ports a series of valves, patiently awaiting connection via gears, pulleys, and other mechanisms to a central control panel. The priest then affixed a series of large gears to the external frame of the cogwork engine, which would in future turn the various limbs of the great machine this way or that when influenced by the aforementioned control center. Four large gears were set about four arterial pipes in total, which when activated will allow for the redirection of the arterial pipe and any peripheral apparatuses connected to it.

Stor set to work on what would become the gear stomach of the whole Smogger, setting into the previously vacant slot a metallic core. This core was composed of redstone alloy gears, various pipes, and valves, notably with a hollow center for the dissolution of Red Oil. The priest went about screwing pipes and tubes into the core, ensuring that all ran towards this central hub. Conspicuously, the priest included a tube dyed crimson red and a tube dyed black on opposing sides of this stomach. The black tube, larger by far than any other, ran up and out the Automaton, the exhaust pipe for the toxic Smog which the stomach will inevitably produce. The red tube in turn was to become the fuel intake port.

With the engine complete, the priest took a break for the evening. It would be another couple days until he and his machines have finished forging the other parts of the greater machine, so for now the assembly halts.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“Today, each of you is going to assist me in constructing the leg of this machine. Everyone grab your wrenches and bolts, and be careful. These legs are heavy and if one falls on you it could send you to the Monks.” Stor monologued as he assembled the plates, cogs, tubes, gears, pulleys, and of course bolts that his students would employ in the coming lesson.

“Start by forming the Chassis. I have pinned to the wall behind you the schematics of the limb, organized by stage of construction. This is ‘Stage 1’, so focus your attention on replicating this structure, do not get ahead of yourselves.” The priest gestured to the blueprints upon the wall behind his students. Indeed, just as he said, the imagined machine was depicted in multiple stages of construction, with Stage 1 representing the barest skeleton of the Smogger.

Stor began working on a limb, allowing each of his 3 other students time to inspect his work every few minutes. He started by first assembling the brackets and beams in such a manner as to form the skeletal outline of a giant crab leg. “Alright, once your machine chassis starts to grow too heavy for you to move on your own, you’re going to want to employ some chains to lift it into the air, that way you can work on the whole of the mechanism without needing to waste time and energy flipping the machine about.” The priest grabbed a chain hanging nearby and attached it to the frame. With a whistle it was hoisted by his machine assistants to an appropriate height. The priest then set to work bolting on the external plating to the frame, giving his students more ample time to watch and replicate his work.

“Alright, now, there are two points of articulation in this schematic. Here” Stor tapped the lower joint between the lower and upper leg. “And here” He tapped the end of the leg, which would in future be the joint between the central torso of the Smogger and the legs. “This upper section will eventually attach to the central core of the Smogger, to rotate directly off of the body and determine direction. This lower section will rise, fall, and pull in a method which allows for locomotion. The natural movement this will mimic is akin to that of a centipede, so keep this in mind. If you look to the schematic, this is labeled on ‘Phase 2’”

The priest grabbed a bundle of large pipes and started to set them into the machine, running them along the leg and up into the location of the lower joint. There, he began to construct with gears and valves a mechanism for converting the kinetic energy of flowing Red Oil into kinetic energy required to move the massive metallic foreleg. “Students acquainted with Automaton craft will understand this to be a larger version of the ‘gearport’ the location into which Alchemical life fluid flows and is then converted into mechanical energy and movement. Make sure to run the arterial tubing along the leg and into the joints, and then, as I have done, start to assemble the gearport. Make sure to add in a valve between the tube and the gearport so the movement of the lower limb can be started and halted by the operator.”

Stor demonstrated the process again to his students on the upper joint, attaching the tubing to large gears which will allow the limb to move in a methodical and repetitive motion. “Now, attach this redstone infused copper wire to the valve system. This will allow the operator to open and shut the Red Oil valve when necessary in order to activate the motions of the legs.” Stor followed up his demand by attaching the proper mechanical nerves himself, and running them through the limb. Next, he drew out more of that wire and attached them to various connection points in the gearports. “In order to ensure the limbs move in the proper direction, we also need to wire up the gearport itself so the operator can reverse the direction of the gear-spin.”

“That will be all for this week.” He stated to the class, wiping grease from his palms as he oversaw the students finish up the limbs. “Next week we are going to ‘Phase 3’, so I suggest you study up on the construction on your own time so you are ready for next week. This will involve attaching the limbs to the central body, and then ensuring that the gear-stomach is properly connected. We might even jump to ‘Phase 4’, which involves wiring everything into the control panel, so I suggest you read ahead.”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

Powergaming during teaching: Correct him oocly and explain the proper way to perform the action. Usually if a person accidentally powergames this is my fault as a teacher for not being clear enough, and it’s a pretty easy thing to catch and correct. If it seems to be a continuous problem and only related to a single student, I may have to have a long talk with them and practicing the magic, where the issues lie in their understanding, and whether they ought to drop the magic for their own sake so they don’t end up banned.

Powergaming after teaching: Isolated incidents happen, especially if someone forgets the rules or oversteps their bounds. If I end up hearing about it, and it’s the first incident or a second isolated incident, I will talk with them and explain how they messed up. If this is a recurring problem, or it is clear this is bad faith powergaming, it is likely staff already knows, but I will discuss the matter with LT and the student. Should the need arise, a student may need to be dropped.

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Automaton craft is a feat which may be learned once an Alchemist attains T3. Automaton engineering focuses on the creation and application of the gearheart and alchemical lifefluid to various mechanisms in order to create prosthetics, miscellaneous inventions, and sentient/semi-sentient machines.

Alchemical lifefluid is an alchemical concoction meant to take the place of “blood” for automatons. If an automaton loses enough Alchemical lifefluid, it will start to grow sluggish and eventually shut down. The gearheart acts as the central core of an automaton, storing the memory, personality, and “consciousness” of the machine. If the gearheart is damaged, the memory and personality of the automaton is damaged. If the gearheart is destroyed, then the machine is effectively killed. Attached to a gearheart is the “obedience vessel”, which binds an Automaton to a certain individual who has his blood inserted into the machine.

Automatons are also crafted with a variety of “organs” that allow them to function. The intelligence vessel, a device consisting of numerous folds soaked in alchemical life fluid, grants an automaton the ability to think and process information. Without an intelligence vessel any automaton would experience short term memory issues and be limited to Olog intelligence. Other organs include eyes filled with alchemical life-fluid, mechanical voice boxes, and hearing implants of thin stretched leather.

Automatons may overclock, and the gearheart of an automaton rapidly pumps alchemical lifefluid throughout the body. This is risky, and weakens the automaton afterwords, sometimes even leading to death should the Automaton fail to end his overclock before it destroys his gearheart.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

While the magic itself has no defined subsections, it should be noted that there are 3 distinct “types” of automaton that can be crafted. (Condensed from the official 5 tiers in the current lorepost).

    1. NPC Automata - NPC Automatons are further split into lesser categories, with “Tier 3” NPC automatons between the size of a backpack and a golden retriever usable in combat under the Combat Pets rules. Sentient NPC automatons smaller than this or larger than this are specifically described as “non-combative.” NPC automatons larger than “Tier 3” are denoted as “Tier 4” and may be used as mounts following CRP mount rules but may not exceed the length of a normal humanoid

    2. CA Automata -Player Automatons can be split into two categories, the machine spirit and the automaton. The player automatons follow general crafting guidelines, and can be no bigger or stronger than an Olog. It also requires a CA. Similarly, Machine Spirits follows the same crafting guidelines as a standard automaton save for the inclusion of a golden gearheart filled with personality identifying symbols of the person to transfer into the husk. The husk must also be ST signed, since this is in effect a transformation of an existing character into a CA.

    3. Animii Prosthetics - Animii prosthetics, as well as Animii “inventions” (i.e. non-sentient objects), may also be crafted. Generally they follow the general automaton crafting requirements, but they do not need to have any of the automaton “organs” besides the gearheart to function. The prosthetics suffer from decreased sensation, weak points at joint, and are no stronger than a regular descendant limb. Prosthetics must be ST signed if they have any “upgrade” or if they are full limbs (i.e. an arm or an eye with some kind of misc. Invention included into it).

Animii may be considered a “subsection” of Alchemy, since the FA requires T3 in Alchemy to practice. Smoggers is its own FA and is not considered a subsection of Animii.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Father Stor assembled the various instruments in a neat array across his workbench. At the leftmost side of the table sat an open toolkit, with all manner of wrench, spanner, hammer, screwdriver, chisel, plier, knife and crank at his disposal. At the rightmost wing, a collection of jars filled with an assortment of tubes, wires, gears, cogs, shafts, joints, axels, screws, and nails. Notably, a large jar of greenish-liquid perched just north of center stage, next to the rotund core of an alien six-legged automaton frame. A brass spherical core lay in two halves, numerous holes punched along the core for future insertion of legs and manipulators.

The cog-priest set to work building the internal frame of that machine, bringing shaft and brass scaffold about the central core to form the skeleton upon which the machinery will hang. At each hole the machinist added a series of cogs and gears, reaching forth to his toolkit and assorted mechanical components to gather the necessary material. First a small frame was built around each leg exit port, to which numerous small gears were affixed so that, once the flow of vitae begins, the gear-ports might be animated by alchemical lifefluid. Copper cabling was run from those gearports across a series of small pulleys that the priest added to the spindly spider legs and manifold manipulators. Affixing these limbs to rotund joints located at the nexus of core and appendage, Stor completed the basic musculature and outer framework of the automaton, and moved to the circulatory system.

Stor grabbed his trusty measuring tape, and draped it about the machine. With a mechanical whirr, he noted down the lengths and diameters of tubing his creation would require, taking the time to measure twice, that he might only cut once. The priest sliced tubing from treated leather pipe and arrayed it throughout the whole of the machine, connecting gearports at every pulley and moving part. All pipes drew towards a central-core, left as of yet vacant. Stor pushed the main body of the machine aside, and withdrew a series of cushioned boxes, within which sat delicate internal mechanisms which would function as eyes, ears, heart and brain.

Stor first took a glass orb, deep red in hue, and dipped it into a nearby jar of fluid. After its alchemical bath, the priest then grabbed a syringe and pulled that greenish-jar close. A measure of fluid was withdrawn, and then transferred into the glass orb, filling the soon to be ocular module with the faux vitae of automatons. Stor grabbed a seal and affixed it to the orb, letting it rest while he finished up the remaining organs. Next, the priest removed a thin layer of leather and dipped it into the lifefluid jar, before stringing it across a small cylinder. He cut at the remnant fabric, and used this to drape another cylinder, which he then affixed to a gearport. Once both cylinders had been attached to gearports, he set them into the machine, affixing them about the upper-sphere that the small spider might hear. Stor then removed a small harpsichord-esque structure from his assorted boxes, and set that too into the machine, fitting it with a life-fluid pipe, that the machine might speak. The mechanic now grabbed a wrinkled clay ball and complex glass container riddled with ports and valves. He closed the valves, grabbed a syringe, and injected the wrinkled organ with the greenish-lifefluid. Stor moved the intelligence vessel into its casing, and that casing into the automaton, fixing the mind of the machine to its artificial arteries so that it might think.

Stor then prepared for the most important, and delicate, portion of the work. Stor withdrew a series of redstone-infused cogs and a complex framework set about a diamond. The priest began affixing the cogs about that diamond framework, and withdrew further a series of pumps, tubes, and chambers, which he set about that diamond and cogs. With the smallest instruments the mechanist finished the gearheart, and affixed it to the machine. A small chamber he had left aside the heart, and to it a small vial of 20 ml of his own blood was added. By his blood, the machine would obey him, and with this heart it would live. Stor wove all tubing towards the heart, and double checked every connection for leaks. He finished by affixing the eye, a glowing orb atop the spider-machine. Into that gear-heart the cog-priest injected a measure of the greenish-alchemical fluids, and with the twist of a small turn-key, the ventricles began to contract. Fluid pulsated through the automaton, and Stor affixed the lower and upper sphere firmly together. His machine was finally alive.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“Today we will be learning biomaton engineering. Students, have you brought the measurements of your subjects?” The cog-priest withdrew a scroll and slotted it into a small roller on the wall. With a click of a lever, the roller began to unfurl the scroll and allow it to drape across the wall, turning the blank space into a tapestry of schematics and data displaying an uruk arm. “As you can see here, I have taken measurements of volunteer Ahng Glur, who seeks to have every limb remade into biomaton prosthetics. Step one, which you have already completed, is measurement. Step two is casting the internal structural axis, or in layman’s terms, the bones.” Stor stalked over to the forge, where an Automaton laborer had already started the process of heating the steel plates. The priest withdrew a pair of tongs from nearby, and moved the metal sheet over the horn of the anvil, there, he set to work bending the steel into a shape akin to that of an orc femur bone. “Remember to flux, students, this step is crucial to ensuring a strong forge weld” The machinist intoned as he bent and joined the sheet into a cylinder. As the metal touched, the priest grabbed some borax and sprinkled it into the weld, causing the material to shimmer like fireflies. Stor took the bone to the quench and doused it with a long hiss, and then made his way back to his students “I had my forge automatons make the outer-layers of my own subject’s biomaton prosthetic, so that we do not need to waste time hammering out the dermal plating. Please deliver your measurements to the forge automatons, then grab a pair of tongs and a hammer and start working on your internal structural axis.”

While his students worked on the metal bones, the machine priest gathered his cogs, gears, wires, pulleys, and jars of alchemical lifefluid. “Now that you’ve created the equivalent of the bones, it’s time to plot out the faux musculature. At major points of movement affix gearports and pulleys like so” Stor demonstrated on his own prosthetic and affixed small valve-cog devices to the upper elbow joint. “This allows the lifefluid to directly flow into the muscle motors, which shall by pulley manipulate the cable muscles.” Stor grabbed a length of metal cabling and wrapped it about the pulley systems, and then drew it across the arm to join with the location that the future more complex wrist mechanism would sit.

“Once you have created bone and muscle, next comes the alchemical-fluid distribution system, or the veins and arteries to continue our flesh example.” Grabbing some tubing off the wall, the priest began to measure out and cut piping to fit the various gearports across the arm. All tubing ran back to a central core location through holes in the bone, accessible by a small hole. Stor affixed a small hinged and metal hatch over that hole, and checked twice to ensure it would lock shut. “It is imperative all tubing runs back into the internal structural axis so that you can insert the gearheart.” The cogpriest withdrew a pre-crafted machine heart, and displayed it to the class. “All of you understand how to construct one of these by now, and if you do not, I suggest you see me immediately after this lesson. Now, insert and affix your gearheart, but do not fill it with life-fluid yet.” With a click the heart was placed into the chamber and affixed to the pipes, and the hatch shut atop it.

“To ensure the limb can “feel” we need to complete an additional step before fluid insertion. Have you studied up on the reactive properties of redstone?” The priest withdrew a bag of redstone dust, and opened it for the class. “By setting redstone beneath the dermal plates, pressure and contact will cause a redstone reaction, which gives the plate the ability to sense via physical contact, otherwise known as touch.” Stor demonstrated by pressing the dust up against the exterior shell of the limb and then pressing a secondary plate underneath the dust to hold up against the metallic skin. He then connected the redstone sensing plates to a series of copper wires.

“These wires are the nerves of the limb.” The techpriest continued, “these should run back to the gearheart, and will communicate the redstone signals, as well as connect to the flesh nerves when the time of installation arrives.” Stor withdrew a bottle of Alchemical Lifefluid and set it aside the limb. Withdrawing a syringe, Stor took a measure of fluid from the vessel and injected it into the gearheart. Along with this, he took 20ml of blood, previously harvested from the subject, and showed it to his student(s). “Now we can finally add the lifefluid. Before you do, please inject some blood from your subject, this will reduce the likelihood for ‘limb rejection.’

“Start the gearheart and allow the limb to cycle fluids for the next few hours to days, and when the time comes I will show you how to install the limb onto the operator.”

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Alchemy is the art of transmuting base materials into more complex forms via manipulation of the material alphabet. This commonly takes the form of “potions”, although alchemy can be used to create more complex constructs such as homunculi, klones, smoggers, and animii.

    The Material Alphabet & Extraction

The material alphabet is a series of signs and symbols inherent to the entire material world, although for the purposes of alchemy, generally come from a list of approved reagents. A typical reagent will have a series of symbols (i.e. grace, reduction, etc.) which form the main “ingredients” of an alchemical creation (a potion for this example). A reagent will also have an elemental “sign”, which is necessary for certain potions that will require not just a specific symbol, but a specific symbol with a specific elemental sign. Symbols must be “extracted” from reagents via the process of grinding, soaking in Aque Vitae, boiling, filtering, and then sieving. To extract a symbol along with the sign associated with it, the alchemist must engage in a special extraction particular to that sign. This ranges from burning, to soaking, to blowing the reagent with bellows during the extraction process. Only one set of signed symbols may be extracted per ingredient, so once a fire extraction has been performed mundane signed symbols may not be extracted.

    Potion craft

Once the proper symbols are extracted, they must be combined together. Many potions may be crafted by simply heating, stirring, and combining the signs and symbols, however a few require more specific crafting processes which have a chance at failure (i.e. blasting potions). All potions have a “base”, which varies from potion to potion, but is generally ‘Aqua Vitae’ for most simple potions.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Alchemy has a number of feats, as well as rare recipes that need to be learned IRP from specific players. Epistle Smog is an example of a rare recipe I personally learned from Lector Evaristus (wowj) during my time in the Lectorate. The alchemical feats which concern me are Automaton crafting, as I am also going to submit independent Animii & Smogger TAs.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Extraction Examples:

    Air

Father Stor chopped up 2x Dried Jailor’s Moss into a fine mass before sweeping the substance from his cutting board into his mortar and pestle. Stor then ground up the herb until it was but powder, before he moved it into a special press. Attached to the side of that press was a bellows and a hand crank. Turning the crank, the priest compressed the reagent inside of the press, and then uncompressed it. Stor then pumped the bellows, blowing the ingredients within about. He opened the lid of the press, and extracted 6x Air | Instability symbols from the remnant powder at the bottom of the press, setting them aside in a glass vial for later.

    Water

Stor opened the jar containing 1x Gislocinovi. The ingredient had been soaking in the jar filled with distilled water for a few hours, and was now ready for extraction. Stor proceeded to shred the material into a paste, before crushing it until it is just a semi-solid mush. Stor then set aside the mush in a dish to evaporate over the course of the day. Once he returned, he extracted 3x Water | Reduction from the remnant residue.

    Fire

    (See Teaching Emote)

    Earth

The priest grabbed a box and opened it, the Hiding Moss inside rapidly expanding to fill the container when exposed to the light. He withdrew 2x Hiding Moss and placed it into his mortar and pestle. The alchemist ground the mixture until it had been crushed into a powder, before taking it out and measuring it on a small scale. Stor then measured out some salt, roughly half-ratio by weight as indicated by the scale, before mixing the ingredient powder and the salt together. He ground the powder mix until the color had dulled, and then sieved it. With only remnant symbols left within the sieve, Stor finished his extraction of 4x Earth | Fear.

    Aether

Father Stor took 1x Helviiryn Mushroom and dropped it onto the cutting board. He set about slicing the mushroom thinly, before scraping it into a nearby mortar. With an Aurum pestle he crushed the mushroom into paste, before pouring in some Aqua Vitae to let the concoction soak. The priest took the liquid and brought it to a boil, before filtering it. He repeated this process, before sieving out 3x Aether | Endurance from the residue.

    Mundane

Stor took the 1x Drake’s Tail and proceeded to shred the red herb. He then ground it in his mortar, reducing it to a fine red paste. Next, he poured in a measure of Aqua Vitae, allowing the substance to soak through, before pouring it into a flask. Stor set the flask to boil, letting it reduce before pouring it through a filter. The priest then took that remaining liquid and set it to boil again, before filtering once more. This process was repeated by the man until he was left with a remnant residue, which he sieved through to extract 3x Mundane | Rage.

    Potioncraft Example:

Stor took the 3 containers of Drake’s Tail Oil and opened the top, preparing them as the base of his potions. He then added in 6x Mundane | Strength, splitting 2 of the symbol among each bottle and allowing it to dissolve completely. The priest then set each bottle over a gentle flame, letting it come to a low boil. Next the priest added in 3x Mundane | Rage to each bottle, stirring it slowly until those had again dissolved, before adding in 2x Fire | Burning. Stor grabbed 3 blast shields and lowered them around the bottles, leaving only the top exposed, before he grabbed the last set of symbols. Stor grabbed a pipette, and carefully added 1x Mundane | Instability.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“Alright, today we are going to learn fire sign extraction and symbol identification. This here is Drake’s Tail, a good source of Fire signs, burning symbols, and rage symbols. Its oil is also an essential ingredient in Blasting Potions. Let’s just start with extracting the burning symbols with their fire sign attached. Now, before you extract any fire sign, you need to dry the ingredient. Luckily, I have pre-dried these reagents for you. First, chop up the Drake’s Tail, be careful not to let it touch your bare skin, you’ll regret it.” The priest demonstrated to his students, putting on gloves and then finely slicing up the red herb on the cutting board. “Next, grind up your reagent. Make sure it’s powder, real fine. Now you REALLY don’t want to inhale this, I’ll have to get you some cough syrup if you do.” Stor then proceeded to grind up the sliced mass in his mortar, reducing it to a fine powder before slightly tipping forth the bowl to show his student(s). “Now, here is the difference between mundane extraction and fire sign extraction” Withdrawing a match, the alchemist struck it on the box before dropping it upon the powder. The substance burst into flame, and quickly burned into a pile of ash. “Grab your magnifying glass and step over here for a moment” The priest withdrew his tweezers and sifted through the ashes under the eyes of the student(s). “You see this?” Stor picked a Fire | Burning symbol from the ashes, holding it under the arrayed eyeglasses. “It’s burning, but with its fire sign intact. It is imperative the fire sign remains intact for use in blasting potions. Symbols with signs attached cannot be stored like mundane symbols, so you need to make sure you do your signed symbol extractions while or just before making your potions.” Stor extracted 3x Fire | Burning from the ashes before dumping the rest. “Now, I want all of you to perform your extractions. While you do that I’ll gather the pre-extracted mundane ingredients for the Blasting Potions.”

    Hi Jihnyny,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have always discouraged players from taking matters into their own hands, because it usually ends up in them getting banned as well. Generally, what players do off the server (and as long as it stays so) does not affect their ability to play on LotC. This, of course, does not apply to safety violations, wherein we punish for that whether or not it has happened on the server. In the case that someone, like ToxicApple, is apart of these groups off the server, and maintains proper behavior within our safety guidelines, we do not punish for it.

I am unsure where your distrust of the Mod team comes from. We have previously banned you for making inappropriate, sexualized comments towards event characters in the past, so we definitely do take these cases of people acting strange on the server seriously.

If you had simply come to my DMs, or any other admin's, this matter could be resolved and investigated further. Yet, instead of the logical approach - you've decided to pitchfork on the forums against this person and myself. Despite that, I am going to analyze the situation, and determine with the rest of the administration whether we should reevaluate our existing safety and player conduct policies.

    Best,

    Alex

“OUCH!” Father Stor Vuiller, a frail old man in blue jeans, a baseball cap, and button down shirt, exclaimed as he fell from the Karosgrad battlements. Some saw him die, although nobody cared. It was not a suicide, and the evil forces that slew him continued their nefarious schemes.

All in all he was rather pleased he finally died. 115 years and he finally died. Every other lector had died, but he was still stuck in his old decaying form.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

A mortal soul fused with an automaton husk, the machine spirit is the ultimate culmination of Animii Engineering. A machine spirit, much like an Automaton, is an artificial lifeform of alchemy and cogwork. False veins trace the body supplying alchemical lifefluid from a faux heart, the Gearheart, to the various organs and limbs. Among these organs are the Intelligence Vessel, the Visual Module, the Voice Module, and the Audio Module. The Intelligence Vessel serves as the cognitive core of the machine spirit, processing data and storing short term memory. Based on the number of folds, the brain can either be more or less intelligent, with intelligence directly correlated with the amount of folds an intelligence vessel has. The visual modules are analogous to descendant eyes, formed from alchemically treated glass and filled with alchemical lifefluid. Audio Modules are often affixed to machine spirits to grant the automaton the ability to hear, and are formed from thin sheets of flexible material which vibrate to relay environmental sound. The Voice Module grants an automaton the ability to speak, and can take a variety of forms, although all will produce a sound distinct from that of organic lifeforms.

The gearheart of a machine spirit differs from the standard automata gearhearts. A machine spirit gearheart is crafted with a golden interior to accommodate the soul of a mortal being. Within this special heart is contained a mixture of blood, alchemical lifefluid, and signs and symbols representative of the transferer’s soul. Upon death, the soul cannot reincarnate at the Cloud Temple, and instead must reincarnate as a machine spirit husk with similar signs and symbols. If no husk is available, the soul is taken by [REDACTED] to the realm of [REDACTED] to fight against the endless hordes of [REDACTED].

Should the automaton lose significant amounts of alchemical lifefluid, they will “bleed out” and slowly start to malfunction before shutting down completely. This is not the same thing as complete death or destruction, as the soul remains trapped inside the gearheart until destroyed completely. The gearheart is the store of long term memory, as well as the soul, and damage to it will result in the loss of these core memories.

Automata may increase the rate at which their gearheart pumps fluids, culminating in a burst of strength in speed. This procedure, known as Overclocking, is dangerous to the long term health of the automata, and can result in their death. A minor Overclock increases speed by 1 block, and increases strength by %25. A minor overclock may be maintained for 4 emotes before the gear heart suffers extreme damage resulting in death, and the automaton suffers from half physical strength for the rest of the scenario. A major overclock increases speed by 2 blocks, and increases strength by %50. A major overclock may only be used for 2 emotes before destroying the gear heart. Stopping prior to death will leave the automaton deactivated for the rest of the scenario

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

The creature is larger than an average human, although average for the size of an orc. At 7’0, the machine is not as robust as an orc, appearing instead more akin to an abnormally tall human. As such, the machine, despite its height, is not nearly as strong as an orc, at most retaining a slightly greater strength than the average adult human. The arms of the machine spirit are specially designed for the unique function of “splitting” in half when not in combat. The outer frame of each arm splits down the middle, exposing the internal frame beneath. Also exposed are the life-fluid tubes, ports, and other vulnerable inner workings. Each arm functions at %50 the strength it would have when combined, due to essentially splitting the skeleton and servos of each arm in half. While the combat benefit of four arms is minimal, given how vulnerable and weak the machine is left, the benefits to everyday tasks is useful.

To any such naysayer, I say, remind me of my foolishness when either of us reach our three-hundredth birthday. It ought be easy, if Iblees' curse died with our Father Horen," Stanimar remarks.

“JA-Rv1-Z” Father Stor spoke to his Automaton assistant. “Remind me in 220 years to comment on Stanimar’s foolishness during his 300th birthday. Oh, and to get him a cake.” The lector returned to reading conspiracy theories about King Fredrick and Sutican lizard men.
