  2. Why's it that even after all this time there's so few naval/ocean lorepieces?
I know theres [✓] [Event Race Lore] Shuul (...) accepted and [Magic Lore] - Thallassos (...) in the works...
Maybe a third one in form of a Feat would be something to establish a trinity of ocean lore™

What's the best lore an story actor can get into right now to haunt some of the players roaming around,
something that goes well with a bounty type of storyline perhaps?

Which of the things coming to us this new map are you most anticipating?

What'd be your favourite dishes in a 3 course dinner menu?

  3. I used to hate on bandit goons but now I just abandoned my staff morals and simply abuse my pex to dodge them...

Jokes aside, I know how frustrating it can be to endure someone else having a power-trip over humiliating your persona but then again, it's a game and if you don't treat it as such you'll suffer and succumb to frustration. In a sense, you have to let your persona go free, only then there is room for character development (This counts for characters of any occupation, be it villainy or something else). Now a good step in the right direction is to refrain from stalling RP by constantly barraging others OOC. Another good measure is not to be fixated on loot or whatever pixels you might deem valuable.
One thing however, for aggressors. Please try not to break immersion during bandit/villain RP, if there's one thing I've seen escalate things it's dispelling the premium mineman illusion.

    "Feel right at home"
"A couple days ago I found a couple of young nobles there... speaking something about a something odd occuring to them, they seemed fairly exhausted after their long stay in the library... it was there"
he points towards the left side of the window

"As you can see I have an excellent view to the local library"

    ...
"But at times, when I'm staring out that window I feel like... something is staring back at me, and that's sometimes in the middle of the night when nobody is supposed to be inside"

"I could show you... a drawing of the thing I see at night,..."

    ...
    "Here,"
the desk was scattered with many scriptures and lots of crude drawings... it looked cluttered, chaotic... most likely the best depiction of an abstract state of mind while experiencing the occurence of the orb...

Upon glancing over the artists shoulder, one would see the drawing of the orb the citizen claimed to see in their dreams.

    ...
It was made with only the crudest means of drawing yet it had such a abstract depth, it could be a masterpiece in black and beige. Slowly if one were to inspect it further, they'd notice how vividly the strokes of the black coal-pen must've been drawn, they twist and turn and spiral into a black spot in the middle, dark as the depiction of the void itself...

Only a faint gloss of the candles setting the room alight would let it seem, real.

    ...
"Now... they didn't look strange at all, they were fairly well equipped and must've been in their young adulthood. I believe the young man that came along called themselves a prince!"

"I'm not sure what it was that day but they looked like they haven't slept in days as they laid there before the shelf... especially the young maid that was there with him"

    ...
"Well, it does seem to be the housemagery guidebook that leads people here but´... something took notice of that, I'm sure..."
"Just when I moved into this house I applied for the library and stayed inside it for a while to meet it's owner... I saw something very odd too..."

    ...
"A large rat-like creature was clawing at the top of the first shelf, the one about myths & legends, I only noticed it in the corner of my eye but when I looked at it ..."
he'd glance towards you and turned away from the window "... it held a strange, shriveled orb in its thin, freakishly long looking hands. At first I thought it was some dried up fruit but... just looking at the rat-like being and the strange orb gave me the chills... ever since then I'm afraid to pass the shelf, or get into the library at night."

    ...
"I don't know if you can imagine the thing I saw that night... the rat alone looked so wretched it could've very well be posessed by something... I tell you, it's this certain corner of the library that ... affects one's mind. Perhaps it is even the whole library..."

    ...
"...speaking of it, the orb occured in my dreams, it would appear in the corner of my vision... and in nightmares it would become more prominent, to a point where I feel like it's... looking at me..."

    ...
"You've seen what it did to my kin, it... shall not be your mistake to condemn your  own people to this... let alone yourself."

The Farfolk citizen would get up from the chair.

"Well, I feel I'm already to deep into all of this... it's as if it follows me around..."

    ...
"No... I don't mind at all, I just don't want to do anything with those beings anymore"

"Don't push it... if you manage to get more information I'll be sure to reward it if you share them with me..."

    ...
"If you manage to exterminate it from... whatever plane it inhabits I shall reward you greatly."

The farfolk citizen would offer a slight bow before gesturing you out of their abode...

    "Far'well"

  5. I was diagnosed with ADHD at childhood, had about 10 yrs of therapy for it, which helped me to understand the mental illness a lot better.
ADHD/ADD were never a topic within my family, only in school I noticed it coming up. Often you'd hear the term "ADHD-Kid" used more as a slur to describe generally hyperactive children, I was one of them. Then again I wouldn't have minded at all until finally someone explained me what it was all about. Now, not to write a long story about the hardships of ADHD, instead I'd like to incentivize those who are struggling with that illness to seek guidance for self-regulating & adjustments for their day to day life, to hopefully find positives in a condition that is often misunderstood and carries a uncomfortable stigma.
It's not dark road always... For all the unattentive moments that occur I have atleast some moments where I feel so in control, combined with a considerable resevoir of energy & creativity, a sense of flow forms, which gets me through some of the most tiresome tasks in a blast.

  6. I’m really into dungeons, although it’s a fairly generalized term by now, which only proves how versatile it is as a medium for events!
The premium mineman dungeon crawling experience on LotC is quite a special one!

I have some thoughts but most of it has been said already so I’ll put it in spoilers.

    Spoiler

In my time as an actor/builder I’ve made a dozen ‘dungeon crawl’ type events & built a dungeon to find out what best suits the experience that players seek.

What’s noticable is that, usually when the dungeon is relatively unknown or has no questhook attached, only a small amount of players will actually attempt to run it, however the one’s that do are usually very dedicated in ‘clearing’ the dungeon, making it less replayable for their group.

Another thing that’s helpful is having many points of interests to investigate before and after the dungeon crawl and obstacles that can be either overcome with time & effort, or be solved through quirky solutions.

Realistically you could have the same quests for different groups while still keeping the dungeon experience fresh. It mostly depends on the storyline and the pacing of the ST Member & the group running said dungeon.

The only thing I see troublesome is dungeons for 30+ players, simply because they will start to clutter at every corner, rush to the next interesting thing and get secluded before you can describe a proper encounter, although with a good build and incorporating PvE (Not the spawn in a dozens mobs kind) & jumpquests with mechanical puzzles, large scale dungeon raids could be possible!

Personally I’ve found the dungeon themed events the most enjoyable, especially now where I could design own instances and tweak them on the run to suit the narrative.

My bet would be to have a cycle of 8 to 16 Dungeons  or have 4 Dungeons with many instances to get the best replayability & time between adjusting the builds / adjusting the storyline

Tl;dr: More than 4 Dungeons, or 4 each with 8-16 different ‘storyline-loops’, multi-layered builds to make a good dungeon with lots of instances which need to incorporate Jumpquests, puzzles and interesting PvE encounters, OOC timers to keep replayablity high & ST burnout low.

Do I see a ‘Story-Dungeons Sect’ forming? Count me in!

  7. The FOREIGN RPER

Usually found at extremely obscure timezones, often way behind the usual roleplaying hours from the main bulk of players. Due to playing in strange times they are regularly found scowering the nations in hopes they’ll find one that has 1 or 2 active citizens. Often times when they do find a populated time they are either too tired or have gotten up so early that their roleplay is simply irritating, either because of the slow writing of a non-english native speaker or the grammatical fallacies they commit. Still, there are many foreign RPER’s that have come to terms with their niche and fit in perfectly, albeit not being in the best timezone or having some discrepancies in their writing.

Sometimes the characters they play reflect their nationality and idealistic beliefs, which sometimes leads them to become a FANATIC FOREIGN RPER, beware of those, because these players also engage in any active political discussion regarding their real life country!

  8. Have rolling modifiers on story & moderator approved items and give every character health based on their race, affiliation & profession.
Simply keep the /roll 20 as it is and just add the modifiers from item’s and your persona card.

It’s as easy as combining what we already have in terms of mechanics which are accessible to every player.

For damage-calculation I would go for a 3 tap mechanic, where the persona has several hitpoints (head, torso, limbs, mind, soul etc.) with each hitzone having a seperate hitzone and once that hitzone is depleted from it’s healthpoints it’s out and you will have to roleplay the consequences accordingly to what happened in combat, e.g. having an arm almost severed or having your skin burnt crisp by an offensive spell. Actual damage dealt would be either the difference in the fighting players dice result or a set damage by weapon type.

Fights would be as simple as deciding to either attack a hitzone, block a hitzone / dodge or parry an attack. You hit a /roll 20 and let’s say you get a 14, your opponent then has to get a roll that’s higher than yours to avoid or afflict damage. They /roll and let’s say they get a 10, subtract your result from that and that’s -4 = 4 Damage to the opponents hitzone, or a successful dodge, block and a parry could even subvert the damage to your opponent!

An example with modifiers could look like this.

You  have a dagger that’s story approved to have a modifier of +2 on your attack rolls when attacking from up close and throwing.
You hit a /roll 20 +2 and let’s say you get a 9+2(11), you’re opponent then has to get a roll that’s higher than yours to avoid or afflict damage. They /roll 20 +4 because they are a burly dwarf in armor and let’s say they get a 10+4(14), subtract your result from that and that’s 3 = no damage dealt to the opponents hitzone, or 3 subverted damage if they were to parry.
