  1. As any staff member quickly learns, the easiest way to deal with criticism you don't like is to make it go through useless beuracracy until the people angry about it stop caring. Notice how you can't tell how many anonymous staff reports there are at any one time, and can't tell when and if one has been completed.

  2. I was excited to see you become the Forum Team Director because I thought it would be a good opportunity for you to grow as a person and experience some real responsibility. In truth the position of the Director position of any team is a big task, and not one that everyone is capable of dealing with. Its important in times like this to reflect on what you've done wrong, and find ways to improve it.

but I've been harassed, brought down, been called useless, a ******, and so many other things. I've had lies spread with intent to do nothing but taint my name. My privacy has been invaded. Some random guy I don't even know has access to my Facebook, and has my home address. It's not worth it anymore.

Obviously there is never an excuse for harassing someone, or doxxing them or spreading malicious rumors. However, while there is no excuse there is a clear reason these things happen. All these things come as a result of the way you treat the community, on and off the job. Players don't just pick someone at random to harass or make fun of, they do it to people who have made themselves an enemy in one way or another. Be it talking down to them in casual conversation, giving warnings out to people without reason or without disclosing them, or just generally being rude. This situation isn't something that happened to you, this is the result of your actions and decisions.

  3. Obviously, while I was Director of the FM everything the Team did was ultimately my responsibility, but I think its important to recall the tenants and directive stated in your Forum Moderator Handbook. The directive is three things, with a few additions here and there; "Encourage discussion", "End Harassment", and "Serve the Community". Obviously the FM Team missed things here and there under my reign, but its important to realize that the big picture is about the overall conduct of the Forums, rather than every individual post. Overall, our goal was to target posts that were toxic, rude or otherwise against the Forum Rules or the Community Guidelines. So, while your posts were removed for their toxic nature; there are many other posts like the ones you showed here that weren't, because they were either not overly toxic in nature, provided important criticism that could overlook the slight rudeness of their post, or were insignificant in comparison to other discussions that were going on at the time or other work that the team had to do and were overlooked.

When it comes to moderation of players, its often hard to set aside your personal feelings about a decision made involving you and look at it objectively; I get it. I don't expect you to come around to my point of view, but I think if you take some time to honestly reflect on the content of the posts you made and the posts you've screenshotted here you'll find that more often than not the intention of Forum Moderators, myself and Moderators in general is not to target or harass you off of the community, but rather to build a functioning and stable community where everyone is allowed to participate and have fun, where real issues are discussed and solved, and where needless drama is avoided. Ultimately I think that my run with the Forum Team accomplished that, we weren't always perfect but we accomplished a lot of good things that will benefit everyone on LoTC for a long time to come.

What map did you join during?: Axios

Do you have access to a Microphone? Yes

Average Daily Play Time? 40 hours/week normally, though I have been on a short hiatus these last few weeks after I stepped down from my position as FM Lead.

Have you held any LotC staff position(s) before? If so, for how long?: I served as a Forum Moderator between October of 2017 and December of 2017, when I was promoted to Forum Team Director and served for a little over 4 months, and stepped down on the 9th of May.

Do you have prior history in any forms of moderation?

Aside from what I listed above, I have moderated on other minecraft servers in the past.

Why do you want to join the GM Team?:

Well, I have always had a keen interest in helping out the LoTC Community and have promised that I would eventually make my return to the Staff Team. I enjoy helping players, and have a copious amount of free-time on my hands so I think this role would be a good fit for me. I have a lot of fun working with my fellow Staff Members, and playing on the LoTC Server. In my previous position, while I was able to put to good use my experience and general skill in moderation, I also have skills that were not able to be used in a strictly forum-based moderation position. Hopefully, in the event that I get the position I will be able to be far more useful as a Game Moderator than I was as a Forum Moderator!

Have you applied for this position before and been denied? If so, link the application:

I was denied twice due to me being the Forum Team Director, the previous GM Lead felt that I would have too many obligations to fully devote myself to the position. That is no longer a problem, as you can see.

  5. Hello Everyone!

This month has been an interesting time for us here in the forum Moderation Team. On the 25th of April I put in a two weeks notice to my team's leadership and server Administration that I would be stepping down from the Forum Moderating Team. It has been a great pleasure to be allowed to direct this team for such a long time, and I am thankful that I had the the best team one could hope for to aid in the projects and changes I wanted to undertake. In my five or so months leading the team, there has been ups and downs but overall we have managed to take the Forum Moderation team forward into a better state than when we found it.

    This Month

The month of April was a rather slow one for us here in the Forum Moderation Team. We did not hire any new applicants, but rather lost a few. @Crinky and @ChongoDragonski. We finished and released the new Forum Warning Appeals system, written and produced by @devvy, which you can read about HERE. We also made some changes to the various Forms available on the Lord of the Craft Community Forums, and sections that have Forms available will now require you to use that Form and not allow you to make a thread otherwise.

    Roster:

    • dogbew (Director)
    • devvy (Manager)
    • TheBulter (Manager)
    • A_Keefy
    • AerialKebeb
    • Chorale_
    • JakeFSF
    • Riftblade
    • violino

    This Year

Normally we spend the time in each monthly update to show what we have done this month, but since this is my last update as Director of this team; I'm going to take some time to see whats been done so far. I took over leadership of this team on December 11th, 2017.

In that time we have had a lot of major changes, we have completely changed how it is we deal with Forum Moderation here on the LoTC Community Forums. For far too long, our system was predicated on the idea that users would incur several small points for menial violations that would eventually culminate into a Forum Ban, or a Content Moderation. This system was far too taxing on the community, and emphasized quantity over quality in terms of moderation. The new system that is used here emphasizes whats important to the moderation of a community, removing toxic, hurtful or otherwise nasty comments and punishing those who are repeat offenders.

We have changed the Forum Warning appeals system, and added in benefits that allow those members of the community who have been warned for innocuous things in the past to have a fresh start. We have rewritten the Forum Rules here as well, changing them from more broad and nit-picky rules to be focused on whats really important in a community; encouraging discussion, ending harassment and serving the Community. In addition to that, we also introduced Forms as a means for applications to become more streamlined and uniform; helping both community members and staff members in dealing with applications.

There are some things that never got done, we were never able to figure out what to do with the Clubs Feature, we were never able to realize my idea of having a database developed in the likeness of Persona applications to handle player records; and we never got around to working on revitalizing Forum Roleplay like I had set out to do.

Overall I think the team has been succecful these few months; while not everything has gone as planned I'm confident that the Team is in a better place than when we began and I'm eager to see what new heights the next chapter of the Forum Team manages to reach. I'm grateful to have had the oppritunity to lead the team, and don't forget to like, comment and subscribe!
