What magics do you desire to teach?:

    Sensory illusion

Summarize the lore of this Magic:

Sensory illusion looks rather trickery, seeing that you conjure something that is not there in reality. You summon an illusion by connecting your mind to the void at first. Because every mind’s connected to this space of thoughts, memories and emotions, the illusionist can create their illusion by ‘placing’ it in the person’s mind. Although this takes lots of practice to perform.

For an illusionist to perform an illusion, the user must understand how it smells, appears, sounds or feels. If the illusion does not meet these requirements, it can be easily broken and the illusionist has failed to fortunately perform the magic. The illusion can also possibly fail if it’s not realistic and plausible. If the illusionist does not include these two things, the illusion breaks.

It must also be noted that an illusion is only present for the target, and NOT the illusionist. The caster shan’t experience anything of their conjured illusion, but only the targets that they focus on will receive it in their mind.

This art of the arcane knows three different types of illusion.

    -Glamours

Objects that are already present in the world, yet only altered to have the desired requirements that the illusionist wishes for. These tend to be easier since the object is already present and the caster is only altering a few properties of it.
The illusionist remains idle in a church as he watches a group of women sing aloud. As their intensity and volume rises, he’d glance to a nearby window while sustaining a steady breath. Suddenly, a sharp crack would be heard and the glass would be illuisioned to have lines of shattering along it.

    -Figments

Something entirely new that’s been conjured by the illusionist. This can be an object or a sensation created from nothing. These are NOT present in the actual world but can appear to be if including all the properties behind the object.

The illusionist stares amongst his students with a smirk, almost devilish in nature. He would slink his hand behind his torso while breathing moderately, slowly guiding it up to reveal an illusioned blade as if it was there all along. He’d hover the blade over his hand, inching down the tip of sharpened point to seemingly pierce his skin. He’d breathe a little more now as the fake blade would puncture his hand, illusioned blood starting to roll down his palm.

    -Phantasms

These are emotions offered to the mind. The target will experience these emotions if his mind allows him to. This is considerably the most difficult type to perform. These emotions are by no means FORCED to the target however. These are usually done through a tell emote to the person being illusioned upon, similarly like mental magic without intercepting the mind.

The illusionist watches two guards heavily argue with each other, one with their hand on the hilt of their blade. He’d conjure can illusion, as an offering to his mind. A feeling of intensity of rage at each detail of the fellow he is arguing to with. The flinging spit and his running mouth became a trigger for the guard. This would most likely provoke him to unsheathe the sword and turn into violence

Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student.

[!] Mabel’s student had practiced enough, and managed to make his first illusion after establishing a firm connection to the void. He approached his teacher’s estate with a look of pride on his visage..

“Miss Durette! I finally succeeded your tasks!”

A smile adorned his features with satisfaction of his work. He stood at the woman’s door quite gingerly, ready to step inside.

    “Is that so..?”

Mabel appears curious, but her staring gaze hints a critical view upon her student’s excitement. She allowed him entry to her home nonetheless. She made sure for him to be comfortable within the couch she assigned him in.

“Demonstrate me what you’ve conjured, my dear..”

The pupil nods his head with a vigor that signed his pride. He stretched his arms out before him that created a small platform with the palms of his hands. His eyes focused upon the empty palms..

[!] Sudden sparks emits in his hands. It struggled to live at first, yet it eventually was presented as a flickering flame for Mabel’s eyes.

    “Hm..”

The scrawny figure slowly rises from her own seat on the couch. She slowly approached her student’s destination after attentively observing the conjured illusion. Mabel eventually raised an abrupt hand that swiftly drifted through the presented flame. It was a risk she took, but her verdict was made. She shook her head after huffing a brief chuckle.

“No temperature, no shadows.. This illusion is worthless, pupil.”

The student’s eyes were filled with disappointment. His concentration broke, and so did his connection with the void like so. His head lowered in shame.

“You have forgotten the details of this flickering flame. Depending on the angle of which I hold something near that, there is no shadow that casts behind the object.. And it lacks its warm temperature. It did not even hurt my touch! These factors.. They’re incredibly important. You’ll never trick somebody’s mind with this pathetic flame, my dear.”

Mabel seems to grow troubled, and her voice slightly raises.

“This is ridiculous! Surely you’ve seen a flame before! Keep the image of a realistic flame in your head, and try to re-create that with the art of illusion.”

The pupil’s head swiftly bobbed in reply. He seems to obey, and makes a new attempt to conjure an improved version of the flame from before.

[!] It took much longer to conjure the flame now, though Mabel’s student fortunately succeeds in his task. This illusion seemed to be different from the one prior to Mabel’s comments. The flame provided an apparent  shadow now.

Mabel’s lips were curled to a satisfied grin, nodding to the improvement that her student had performed. The figure slowly sauntered to the desk that was set aside, obtaining a small piece of paper that littered the surface.

    “Keep the illusion..”

She softly muttered, going to drag her feet in a slothful manner back towards her student.

His eyes narrowed, and brows were furrowed to an obvious scowl. A few beads of sweat roll down his forehead, presumably caused by his effort.

Mabel swiftly jabs the long stroke of paper into the illusion, quickly bringing it back to her own person again after.

[!] The stroke of paper remained unharmed, and did not burn whatsoever. This action has for the flame to swiftly disappears for Mabel after the illusion was discovered.

The student seemed surprised at Mabel’s sudden initiative, going to settle his fatigued gaze upon his teacher shortly after lowering his hands in realization.

“Although I’ve definitely noticed the warmth and shadows around this illusion.. You have certainly failed to react to unexpected scenarios, my dear.”

Mabel was remarkably calm, and showed some of her pride by the curling smile on her lips.

“Continuing your illusions, based on circumstances, is one of the most important things. You may never know what they might do to break your illusion.”

    “Thank you, miss Durette..”

He was still shy from before, yet the warming grin on his lips would sign the own pride that he experienced.

    “Practice makes perfect..”

  5. Estelle delicately took one of the pamphlets she found in her hands to scan over the words with her gaze, allowing her features to be adorned with a visible scowl after.

She folds the leaflet back in half, going to stuff it in her satchel now instead.

    "Rather exaggerated.."

Her head visibly shaked with a muffled scoff accompanying her words, turning back towards her house in Lin'sulan with a swift stride.

What magics do you desire to teach?:

    Water Evocation.

Summarize the lore of this Magic:

Water Evocation, like any other elemental evocation, is the magical art of pulling the said element from the void. This magic requires mana in order to power the evocation. Once you’ve successfully pulled the element from the void after focusing yourself, you may move it around as you wish without losing your focus once.

The mage will often feel fatigued after pulling water from the void. Evocation drains a mage’s manapool, and often causes exhaustion after casting the said magic. Symptoms like sweating, heavy breathing and a weakened figure is common after performing the art.

This form of magic requires time to fully master. This cannot be learned in only a span of two weeks. It asks for dedication, and much practice to fully develop throughout the art.

Write up a lesson that your character would give to a student.

[!] Mabel’s student has recently connected her mind with the void for the very first time. The Witch found it neccessary to swiftly continue their lessons after discovering the news. She brought her to a large lake near the capital city of Celein, Sanctuary.

“Stick your hand in the water.”

Mabel’s command was simple, though a stern dictating tone would accent her voice. She’d vaguely gesture towards the lake where the water streamed through.

The student did not hesitate to do what was asked as she slowly kneels by the edge of the lake. She’d carefully bring her hand to the water, cupping some of the liquid out of the lagoon.

“How does it feel? Describe it for me.”

The witch questioned the following with a similar tone like before, having her eyes keenly set on her newly obtained student.

“Moist.. Wet, and almost untouchable. It slips right through my fingers.”

She did not remove her eyes from the cupped water for a single moment, having her gaze to thoroughly analyze the water in her hands.

“Evoke what you feel, my dear. You’re familiar with it.”

Her chin rises with the vague statement she made, watching her student for any further actions with a look of intrigue on her face.

    “Evoke..?”

Confusion, something what Estelle swiftly predicted, was blatantly written on her face. Her gaze shifts from the water to her teacher now instead, regarding her with furrowed brows and apparent bemusement.

A dry chuckle escaped the Witch’s lips, shaking her head with the odd amusement that Mabel experienced. ”You’ve done this before. Connect your mind with the void, and evoke the said feeling on your hands. Concentrate yourself. Without your focus and the void, you are nothing.”

The student drew a sharp breath to prepare herself for the progress, nodding with evident understanding towards her teacher. She’d slowly close her eyes and bring her hands forth, turning her palms upwards so that she may create the same cupping position like before.

[!] A small puddle of water appears within the student’s palms, hovering slowly from side to side. It suddenly revealed, as if it came out of nothing.

A smile would gradually appear onto Mabel’s lips, nodding with obvious pride in her student.

“I want you to open your eyes.. Though keep your focus to witness this for yourself.”

The student’s eyes would cautiously open themselves, immediately directing them to the water that assembled in her hands. She beams with joy and bliss, appearing generally excited of successfuly evoking the water. Her enthusiasm caused her focus to swiftly cease, and the water disappeared with a similar pace.

“Practice is the key, little one..”

  7. The current magic system asks for a lot of creativity from the player, which I do really like. Although this suggested system could possibly make the whole subject of magic 'less' powergameable, I'll definitely miss the creativity that allows the roleplay to be enjoyable.
