We are in no way "edgy" or "shady" and anyone saying so is to be ignored.

((I can understand why this might be a touchy subject, but, coming from another guild with "Crimson" in its name, you might as well just embrace the edge.

((I apologize that we aren't checking the thread as much as we should; the player for Sentis, who usually takes care of this thread, has been very busy with RL matters these past several weeks and has hardly had time to log on his computer at all. But I'm on server very often. You can PM me IG, or come looking for us ICly in Urguan.

  6. Sahar squints in the snow-reflected sunlight as she come up the stairs, to the "new top level" of the Crimson Edict's grand hall. For a moment, she looks over the years of work she'd done with her own hands, now exposed to the frigid air and white sky, now blackened and strangely still with the slow fall of snow upon the war-torn stacks, before returning back to the lower levels and lighting the fires in the great heart again.

She looks to her brothers and sisters, an uncommon grin pulling her face as she pulls a Orennian corpse towards the fire. "They thought they could hide in our home as our arrows volleyed; they merely made it easier for us to attend to their bodies after we ran in to finish the job."

  7. "The chance of travel--and thus study--and thus progress--is too good for a mali of my field of study to pass up if I were to say that maehr'sae hiylun'ehya was important to me. I just hope no one notices my absence at their Vallah churches."

    Artwork/link to art profile: http://murdervish.tumblr.com/

Do you give LoTC permission to use your work? (Yes/No): Yes, but if it's specific characters other than my own, please ask the players if/when possible.

Is the work above completely your own? (Yes/No): Yuppers, though some of the characters belong to other players.

Is there anything you’d like us to know about your work? (Name of person, location, ect.): Most of the art I do is for the Crimson Edict and associates and is listed on the site. A lot of them are speed draws. I also intend to get a group picture done for the Crimson Edict later, but dunno if that'll be before the showcase.

  9. Corvoo is easily one of the most patient and intelligent players on LotC that I've ever had the pleasure to work with. And he's very active and involved on the server, as well as well versed with the plugins (as you can tell by him being on not one, not two, but three /sk top lists)... a perfect person to help lead new players into the server.

  10. Along with interacting with several of his characters on server, I've actually been in a short tabletop with sean66 online where he was the game master, and I have to say he is among the quickest-witted and most creative game masters I've ever been a player for. He definitely has the skill set to act in, write, and run events on LOTC.

    +1

  11. I simply just don't understand the point. If the idea behind Slic3's logic is...

Limit magic teaching > Make more ancillary magics decrease in activity > Remove the ancillary magics with activity decrease as an excuse > Reduce collectivism since there are fewer collectables

...then staff should just wipe out the magics they don't like immediately, rather than put the players and the teachers through this stress of trying to preserve the magic just to have it taken away despite their best efforts.

Speaking of stress, did it ever occur to him that one of the problems teachers have is people randomly coming up to them, ICly with little RP or OOCly, begging for magic lessons? With the numbers of teachers on certain magics reduced, do you think this sort of activity decreases?

  12. LoTC In General:

What do you like about LoTC?

Unlike what many others have said, what I actually like about LotC is the community. Especially for the average age of the players, it's surprisingly serious and dedicated to roleplay. And, once you mesh into one of the roleplaying hubs, you have incredible chances to shape and grow your character within the story.

What do you dislike about LoTC?

The forums, the wiki, the current state of the lore, and some of the more selective and strange decisions of particular staff. More transparency in the banning process would be highly advised.

More importantly, the state the lore is in currently is trash; it's beyond me why you've allowed the forums to be the holder of the updated canonical lore (and rules, for that matter) rather than the wiki when that causes severe confusion and makes updated lore difficult to discern without the direct help of an LM. No official lore or rules should be found only on the forums for that very reason; it should all be updated in the WIKI as soon as it's accepted. There should not be any exceptions to this. I know it's easier for the staff to just move it into "accepted" after they've ruled on it and go on with their days, but that is seriously not enough.

And about forum rp specifically: I dislike doing any forum rp, to be honest. Using the forums for signs, events, and postings is fine, but the layout of the forums are generally...mangled, for lack of a better term. I would suggest, at least, regions listed within the roleplay section instead of races? Many mapped rp games with forum rp goes by regions, since you're interacting with people of the area moreso than people of a race. My main character, for instance, is a human, but she has no business in Human RP because she lives currently in Urguan, and the people she lives with are primarily non-dwed themselves. But it feels strange putting a "Crimson Edict" rp thread up in Urguan when there are no dwarves in the Crimson Edict.

What is something LoTC needs to do more of?

Would love to see more events that pull people out of their typical RP hubs. Calls to action or other things, perhaps, that cause people to go to different hubs or non-hubs. I don't even mean like global events (though more of those would be nice); I'd love to see an ET pull a group or pick out people and get them involved in weird things. Get a Felsen noble and a Stoneguard stuck in a situation together, and maybe they end up having to protect a mali'ker orphan, too. Shake **** up, push people into each other's faces. Conflict!

    What should LoTC do less?

Punitive banning vs. rule education, I suppose. And the meaningless restrictions in certain areas bug me, particularly magic. I can understand why learning magic should be selective in nature, should be something special, but the system as it is puts the teachers in a really stressful place, especially with the threat of magic-culling looming. I'll probably do a more detailed post about magic in the "New Magic Rules" thread.

What would be interesting to see in a future map?

We can always do with ancient ruins, and caves to explore! Spelunking is my favourite thing to do in MC! And generally a lot of the world-painting/terraforming in Vailor is kind of blah for me; I honestly prefer friggin' default seeds to some parts of it.

What keeps you coming back to the server?

    I am addicted to RP.

    Events and Interaction:

    Does LoTC need an antagonist?

I wouldn't say "need", but an antagonist is a good way to get people out of their seats. Give them something to do that isn't "this one capital is having a party!" Besides, there needs to be an antagonist to show some of our lamer villain characters how it's done.

Do you think LoTC needs more incentive to explore?

    Yub.

Do you think the server’s players need to work together more?

Definitely. Like I said earlier push them into each other's faces.

    Plugins and Development:

What do you think of the skill plugin? Rate the skills plugin on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being your dream plugin that meets every element beyond expectations.

I don't really have another plugin to compare it to, but it's pretty hozh, even though there are a couple problems and bugs with it. 7/10.

What plugins do you think the developers need to work on?

I am in the crowd that would like the magic plugin. Other than that, I'd like nameplates to show usernames (I've heard the server had this before but scrapped it?), sittable chairs to come back (with the rubber-band-bug taken care of, of course), and the ability to lay in a bed during the day time. And I'd love to be able to have a beehive to harvest honey from.

Do you feel there are any plugins that you directly interact with that should be changed?

Only specific things in the plugins:
    1. Canadian pancakes? Really?
    2. There are two Chicken stews, and one of them uses porkchops.
    3. You can only use non-percentage bows in dispersers.
    4. I want to make a carrot cake as well as "steak and eggs" in chef.
    5. I want to use honey (from the beehive!) to make mead in alchemy.

  13. Another thing that would be fun is just teleport to a random player walking on the road and give them an event; Wolf Attack, beehive breaking near them, zombies, even maybe a wounded animal! This would make walking on the road actually enjoyable, and rewarding, rather than a chore, and to avoid at all costs, you could even do RP for people who are riding to somewhere to raid, maybe a blizzard, forcing them to set up a camp and RP being stuck in a blizzard, I dunno!

I actually was one of the "can't complain 'cause I'm in the player group that gets all the events" side, so I wasn't going to input anything, but this is honestly a very cool idea. A riff on that perhaps: having an ET replace the FT on a cart/boat to a place mid-journey to the destination, where the cart/boat had to stop because of a sea creature, monster, animal, weather, whathaveyou. Stick in some RP when people least expect it in general. Might be a lot of work for only a few (potentially angry) players is a problem, but man would that be a quality touch!

  14. I get the hunting, but it honestly seems very strange to me that the kha appear so much more interested in a constant witch hunt than doing much anything else to further their actual society. The main community from the outside seems to be a weird, tribal inquisition. At least the high elves drink tea when they aren't subjugating impures.

I wouldn't say completely remove the hunting. Honestly, nearly everyone hunts traitors on this server, and it makes for good RP. But do it in big sweeps perhaps and back off to focus more on community building, rather than going up to the place every day and demanding the ape'kha be handed over. There was a point when they were coming to Eastwatch twice a day demanding Jotosava. Jotosava has since been PKed, because his player is sick of it.

  15. No. And quite frankly I'm sad that this is what you took from my post, since that means any honest criticism I had is going to be ignored as me being a hater. I said I enjoyed RP with some kha, mostly ape'kha. I didn't go into it, but I even enjoyed RP with some kha that still follow Metzli and stayed in the community. I have nothing against the race itself, just with how the race's society attempts to work and how they're presented as a whole. The RP with them does not seem particularly fun or unique, even though the race has so much potential with some very interesting lore.

This problem really stems from how the community is run by a small amount of players, not even the players as a whole. I had mentioned I'd want them wiped out not because I hate the race, but because there are problems with their community RP that don't seem to be getting fixed any time soon.
