Demetrios would be wandering around the graveyard, after his arrival in Providence, so he'd tend to his sister's grave as he once did before his self-exile. Upon passing by a tombstone, he notices a familiar name carved on it. The old man suddenly stops walking and leans forward so he can read the name again, making sure he made no mistake. His hands would start shaking, his legs would no longer be able to support his body and collapses down, his skin colour would change to white, tears would begin to come out of his eyes, making no effort in holding them back. Anyone near him would be able to hear him cry and mourn. After an hour or two crying, he slowly lifts his body off of the ground and stands in front of the tombstone. He wraps his hands around it, hugging it as tight as he could, hoping Anastasia would feel the hug from the seven skies. Moments later he lifts his head upwards, looking towards the sky and begins to talk. "My sweet little girl... I abandoned you when you were only six because I couldn't handle your mother's death... I left you all alone, without protection or the required affection a child at that age deserves. When I finally returned years later, I was told the worst possible news a father can learn about his offspring... You were kidnapped and raised by a 'demom', a dwarf I shall never forgive him for what he did to you, yet again it was my fault for not being there to protect you when you needed me the most. Imagining you now calling for me in terror haunts me. When you returned, you were a grown woman, yet I could feel something was odd... I could sense you were possessed by something evil... I failed again to save you from this living nightmare. I know you tried to kill me, but I forgave you instantly, I could never hold it against you, you were my daughter. My pride however wouldn't let me express it as I should have. I left you again, which I regret but cannot undo it. Years later when word reached my ear you were getting married I came in touch, you accepted me as if nothing had happened, as if I never abandoned you... As if we were a proper, loving family. Remembering it now, only a kind soul would do that, a pure and kind soul. And after meeting my grandchildren I left again... This time to live in Haense and start a new life, which I have... And I wish you would have met your brother, who has your name!" The old man stops for a brief moment, catching his breath before resuming, "You meant everything to me, even if I couldn't show it. I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most, and during your final moments... I hope you may forgive me somehow one day. Perhaps on my final day on this world. Oh Anastasia Rhoslyn, I wish you're with your mother now, in a better place, and I hope you've met your great grandmother, whom you were named after, she was special to me. I believe Josephine is there as well! Everyone I love is with you. One day we will meet again my flower, and we will have a great reunion up there in the seven skies, and perhaps live the life we weren't able to live down here... I always loved you." The aged man would stand up after the long monologue. He'd lean his head and rub the tombstone before laying down a red rose and walk away quietly...

Steph would be sitting somewhere in the Seven Skies, stroking his beard and shaking his head at the same time upon seeing Anastasia ascending to the the realm of the people who have passed. He gestures to his children to follow him while he begins to make his way towards Ana. He begins to inspect her body, making sure she wasn’t brough to the realm of the souls with a brutal way. He’d notice the flower he gave her the day he passed by her side... A smile begins to be carved on his face, ”Ana... you came her too soon... why my dear, you had so much to live for...” a tear would come out of his eyes moments later. He wraps his hands around her for a tight hug, ”I missed you so much... I’ve been watching you from here the whole time and I’m happy for the family you’ve created. We will keep an eye on them, both of us and make sure they are all safe and sound” he takes a step back, bringing his little children forward in order to introduce them to Ana, "L-look, they are all here! Isaac, Amalia and Aphrodite! I hope you remember them, I mentioned them quite a few times.”  Stephanos would smile one more time before reached for Ana’s hand, and begins to walk away with her, ”Enough talking my dearest Ana, now it is time to dance the dance I promised you so many years ago, we will dance with the stars”  He kisses her hand and makes his way to the stars for the dance...



Deme would be at his parents’ manor with his wife, taking care of her as she is in the final stage of her pregnancy. Upon hearing the news of the death of his grandmother he’d collapse and pass out. An hour later he wakes up, hoping it was a bad nightmare, but it was not one. He bursts into tears, probably for the first time in his life and turns his head upwards, shaking it, ”Why Nana, why... you were just fine last Saint’s day when I visitied you... you never got to my child” The young man would stand from the ground, wiping off any years of his face, and shakes his head again, ”Oh Nana... you were so much to me, my mother, my father... you meant everything to me., you raised me when my parents could not, you clothed me and fed me...” Demetrios would makes his way to the sofa and sits on it, turning his head to the fireplace and begins to observe the fire, ”I promise you I will name my first daughter after you, my beloved grandmother... goodbye until we meet again” he reaches for his flask and drinks his alcohol which he hasn’t done for years now...

No, they have no place on lotc. Simply because this is a /medieval/ fantasy server and I’m pretty sure the majority of the players want to experience that, and not the indutstry revolution. And not only that, sooner or later said firearms will take over the server thus lowering the playerbase... Yes I agree it would be something new, but its not LotC friendly, what will come next? WW1 trench warfare? No thank you I do not want to experience that, and many others would agree with me. 

The Order of Nicea

The Order of Nicea is a military Order tasked with upholding the peace, promoting justice, safety and security, as well as defending the lives of those residing in the Duchy of Savinia. Activities of the Order include combat training in both land and sea, monster hunting, criminal hunting, the completion of various quests and preservation of peace and justice.

History of the Order

    Named after the Akritian word for ‘Victory’, as well as in honor of the fallen soldiers in the great fort of old, the Order of Nicea was created by Duke Romanos Palaiologos, inspired by the defensive system of the First Akritians. That system, the Themata as it was called, stopped putting emphasis into armoured and professionally trained heavy infantry, to provincial spearmen and swordsmen. While it was a rather unheard of system during its time, it proved to be rather effective. The soldiers, now fighting for a cause they believed it and for something they wished to protect, battled with great ferocity, courage and a drive to win, pushing back and defeating standard armies. It wasn't until the battle of Nicopolis that this system collapsed.

    Romanos Palaiologos, desiring to protect his lands, as well as returning his family to it's roots, decided to use the old system of the Themata, with certain alterations to improve it so that the mistakes of old do not repeat themselves. Thus, after various preparations, the Order of Nicea was born, rising like a phoenix from the ashes. Now ruled by his Grandson, Michael Palaiologos.

The Order

    The Order signifies the fusion of the old system of the Themata with the current sophistication of the military. The entire former Duchy itself was split into various sections called ‘Orders’, with each order being led by a distinguished officer. The rank of the officer is dependent on the size of his ‘Order’ as well as the number of men under his command. The officer has total control over his ‘Order’ and is responsible for the population he is protecting, the training and equipment of the men under his command, the betterment of his land and the preservation of tranquillity. 

    In times of peace, it is up to the officer to make sure that his men continue training, not desiring war but being ready for it. It is also up to the officer to decide what kind of training his men need, whether they be infantry, cavalry or a mixture of both.In times of war, the officer rallies his men, joins the rest of the Orders and as one single force they march to battle, ready to defend their homeland.

    There are two ranks in the High Command, with each rank having almost the exact same privileges and obligations. Members of the High Command handle matters regarding the Order in it's entirety, as well as having a seat at the Council. Thus, it is mandatory that they have extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the Order, logistics,military experience, experience leading as well as commanding authority and respect. Only one man at a time can hold a position of High Command.

Strategos

    The General is the right hand of the Patriarch of House of Palaiologos. It is the highest rank a man can possibly achieve within the Order.

=-= Officers =-=

     There are two ranks that signify a member as an officer, with the difference between each land is the amount of men and land at an officer's command, as well as some special positions and tasks they can carry out. An officer has control over the men in his Order and is responsible for them. However, he cannot command members of other Orders, no matter the difference in rank. 

Tagmatarches

    The Major is the rank given to those who hold an Order of large size, with a large number of men under his command. A Major is usually a battle hardened warrior, with leading experience. He is capable of organizing raids and in the rare absence of both the General and the Duke, a Major can lead the army into battle.

Hecatontarchos

     The rank of Hecatontarchos is given to those warriors who have proven themselves capable of leading groups of men into battle. They are charged with completing missions and various tasks and with permission from the High Command, patrol the Duchy.

Archedekarchos

        The rank of Dekarchos is given to those warriors who have proven themselves in the battlefield, capable of fighting and training soldiers when the Hecatontarchos is attending to other matters. The A/Dekarchos is his right hand man.

Dekarchos

      The junior rank of A/Dekarchos. They are trained to lead the army in the future, train it and maintain it through the years.

Pentarchos

   The lowest officer rank a soldier may get. It is common to be given those who prove their loyalty during their first years of serving in the army, these officers one day may rise in the chain of command.

Scoutatos

    The rank of Scoutatos is given to the soldiers of the Order whose strength and loyalty have been tested time and time again. They hold considerable military experience, having spent years in the Order. 

Palios

Akritian Footman, circa 1619

    Paleos or Paleoi are members who have fully joined the Order. This rank is the rank most members have, as it is given to those who don't have a good amount of experience in warfare. They are tasked with doing lots of hard labor, practising hard to improve their skills. As a result, an experienced and dedicated Scoutatos tends to be more skilled than someone with a similar rank.

Neos

   Neos or Neoi is the rank given to those who have just enlisted to the Order. They have no or little combat experience and their loyalty isn't tested. Thus, they are often treated rather harshly, giving them tough tasks to see if they can endure. Those who after a time limit have shown all the necessary qualities, stop being recruits and start being footmen.

Special Ranks

    There are some ranks in the army which require certain skills to attain. Some of these ranks may be available to only specific standard ranks, others may require certain years of experience and others may be a matter of ability. A member can attain such a position if he has the ability to do so, but without any privileges within the army. Whatever the prerequisite, these special ranks 

mean that you have a talent in more than just warfare.

Stratopedarches

    A quartermaster is responsible with making or acquiring and distributing equipment to the members of the Order he is part of. He must be at least a Footman.

Medic

    A medic is responsible with saving lives just as much as he is responsible of ending them. He is tasked with healing the injuries of men both in training and in battle. Depending on the skill of the person, a Medic can be a footman or a Man at Arms.

Varangian

The Varangians, after the battle for Trier, 1619.

    The Varangian is the rank of the mercenaries who have decided to serve the Dukes of Mystra for as long as he affords their service. They are the elite force of the Order.

Bandophoroi

   Tasked with the most glorious task, carry the Akritian banner. An honour only for the few.

[!] A salary is given to each soldier per year, standard salary is a hundred and fifty minas, they can earn extra coin through missions and guard duty and by getting promotions.

Mihail of the Oikon of the Palaiologoi is in the need of a Scribe. He is tasked with writing books and most of the documents, the scribe must be literate, and must know the Akritian tongue. His services will be rewarded with an annual salary, depends on the amount of books and documents written. Standard salary is a hundred and fifty minas.    The Akritians, a proud people, have lived as tradesmen, philosophers, artists and scientists around the world serving different nations for almost two centuries after the fall of their Duchy. Many years after the events, all the Great Houses and the people who hold power within the society of the Akritians set up a meeting. They talked for hours, some disagreed, some agreed… but it is then, when the Patriarch of the wealthiest families stood up and addressed to the gathering, “My friends, my brothers… for years we have served other Lords, never asked anything in return, we only minded our own business and worked for a living.” the man pauses, clearing his throat, “Times have now changed, everyday all of our compatriots reach our shores. They seek Enosis! To unite with their brethren and form a new community! A new community based on Mystra of old!” The gathered guests seemed to whisper to each other, what could they possibly think about the Patriarch’s speech? He raised his glass for a toast and said “To Mystra! Chaire Acretes!” The crowd stood up and raised their glasses! Let it be known, those of Akritian blood are welcomed over at Savinia.
