The disorganized clangor of dwarven and orcish boots reverberates off the cave walls of Kal’Tarak’s port district as the Longmanes make their way to their docked vessel. The death of Verthaik II, and the political chaos that ensued after his death has left the Longmanes lost, and without a purpose. With a heavy heart, Clan Father Rudok gestures for his kinfolk, and clansmen to come near, “Gathah’ round lads and lasses, this will beh my final speech as Clan-Fathah ‘ov the Longmanes, before we disband and go our separate ways. Ah know our clan was short lived, but ‘et is onleh fitting that the rowdiest clan dies young n’ wild ‘en its adolescence. We nevah were a vereh orthodox group, but we were all vereh close to one anothah. Today I will be leavin’ you all to go on a voyage away from this place. Ah will be takin’ anyone that wishes to come along with me, but ah will force none of you to do so. Ah wish the kingdom ‘ov Kaz’Ulrah the best, and ah hope you all will recover from this tragic loss. With this, Rudok would gesture to those willing to follow him, and board the rickety boat, sailing away into the vast seas of Atlas.

    Timezone(s) you mainly play: UTC

What group/nation do you consider to be your main? Dwarves/Kaz’Ulrah

Have you held a staff position before? Never on LoTC

Do you currently hold a staff position? No

Do you plan on applying for other staff positions? No

Have you ever been banned before? If so, how long ago and what reason? Yes I have been banned. In early Vailor I used an X-Ray texture pack, and I was banned three months. I was new at the time, and I didn’t appeal the ban for over six months. I came back and started playing seriously during Axios. I was also banned for a day last week for accidentally breaking the no-raid rules.

What style of events do you feel you enjoy creating? (Low Fantasy, High Fantasy, Quests, Dungeons, etc.) Dungeons and Quests, I really enjoyed the events we used to do for the dwarves.

List three factors you feel play a part in a quality event and expand upon them. Player input should be the most important, if players are not having fun it’s important to adapt the event to be more fun. I also feel that it’s important to give all members participating in the event a chance to react to what’s happening, so there’s not just one hero who clears the entire event for the group. Lastly I think powergaming should not be tolerated. Powergaming can completely ruin an event for everyone participating, and I would hate for players to not enjoy the event because one player is just too powerful.

Which member(s) of the team would you attempt to emulate and why? I don’t know any of the new event team members very well, but I used to love the events the ET hosted. They were very involved, and required lots of player interaction. Gorum also used to host very fun spontaneous events for small groups of people, that I enjoyed very much.

Provide three event scenarios, in total, of the style(s) you listed above:
Event 1: A group of adventurers are on a quest exploring a cave. As they journey deeper into the cave, a horde of feral goblins run by the adventurers horrified. As the adventurers journey deeper, more and more creatures run by the adventurers fearing for their lives. As the adventurers make their final descent into the cavern they come into an open portion of the cave, and are greeted by a large stone monolith. There would be a large jewel in the center of the monolith, and as adventurers try to remove it, the monolith would lurch upwards, revealing a large sleeping troll. The adventurers would then have to do battle with the monstrous troll in an attempt to acquire glory, and epic loot.

Event 2: A man with a cart walks past a player on the road. He has various exotic goods for sale. Should the player choose to interact with the shady merchant they would be afflicted with a dangerous curse. The trickster merchant would then run away with a cure, and players would have to track him down before their party member succumbed to the curse.

Event 3: A ship would be crashed on a rocky shore, full of corpses from the previous crew. As players step onboard the ship, members of the undead crew would rise, and the ghost ship would sail away with players on board. This would be a PvE event, and players would be forced to take on hordes of undead in an attempt to gain control of the ship.

Why do you wish to become an ET Actor Member?
I’m a good builder, but I’d much rather act out roles and interact with players. I enjoy meeting new people and roleplaying with them, and I think I would be able to have more player interactions as an ET Actor. I also feel as though a lot of ET members stick to their own groups and cliques and don’t focus to much on helping players do events outside their groups. I would be willing to aide any groups feeling neglected by the ET.

What strengths would you bring to the team?
I’m a generally charismatic guy, I’d like to think I’m a pretty friendly dude. I think I’d be able to integrate myself pretty well with the other members of the ET. I’m already friends with members like Hot_Dip, and TheAlgoda and I think I could bring some nice synergy to the team.

    What are your weaknesses?
I get easily annoyed when somebody power games/trolls during an event, but I try not to lose my temper. Sometimes I may have to leave during Saturdays due to my commitments at work, and I’ll have to play during the afternoons/evening due to my responsibilities at school.

How much time could you give to this position in the foreseeable future?

Since school and work and slowed down a bit I can dedicate a large portion of my time to doing events. Some Saturdays and Sunday afternoons may not be possible, but days like that will be rare. I will be available most weekdays during the afternoon.

Born of the iron will of the Frostbeards and the burning fire that resides within each member's hearts, the Longmanes are almost literally resembled by the reaction of ice and fire intermingling.  They are known amongst the Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah as a rowdy clan of dwarves that are always up to something interesting or daring.

The banners of the Longmanes, a yellow lion on a black field, can be seen proudly flying at their clan hall. This symbol is a focal point of their clan, representing the connection between the majestic animal and it’s glorious mane and the Longmanes, among many other traits.

    History

The origins of the Longmane clan begin amongst the turmoil created by the independence of the Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah from a loyal Frostbeard named Rudok (Does not have a red nose). A fierce warrior in battle, Rudok and his close kin stood tall amongst the other dwedmar, taller than all the others.  For a brief period, Rudok had left Kaz’Ulrah for a time of reflection and most holy pilgrimage. When he returned, his changes would show in his encounter with the High King.

“I used to be the main Frost daddy for like three weeks.” - Shuggie

In a tale of a meeting between the King and Rudok. After a fiercely fought battle in which Rudok and his kin were crucial in pushing back enemy forces. After the fight, High King Verthaik II Frostbeard commanded Rudok to remove his helmet so that he might properly honor his valor in battle. When Rudok removed his helmet, the Verthaik exclaimed to the dwarf “T’at sure beh ah Long Mane yeh have t’ere, laddeh”

Henceforth that name stuck with Rudok and his kin for their manes were truly long, sporting the longest beards and manes of hair atop their heads.

    Appearance

Just as their progenitors, the Frostbeards, sport, Longmanes carry icey blue eyes and carry their rare trait of shiny blonde locks. As their names state, they truly have long manes. Members of the clan take great care in the hair and and will never place an axe or razor upon it. Amongst the clan they carry a tradition that can be seen by all, their braids. Each time a member performs a valiant or honorable act a braid is added to their super long hair.

A defining feature of the Longmanes is their incredible height. They tower over all other dwarves, some are even said to reach the height of short humans. Some say they are so tall in order to accommodate their long hair from touching the ground.

    Personality

Longmanes are known to be a rowdy lot of dwarves always getting into all sorts of chaotic events, both good and bad. This behavior directly affects their standing in battle, as every member is known to be a devout and masterful warrior, easily recognized in battle by their brutish and chaotic fighting style.

“In my lore, we are the rowdiest clan.” - Shuggie

However, their rowdy behavior also translates into their boisterous and happy go lucky attitudes that is found amongst Longmanes. Outside of battle, they are almost always found inside of a bar with a jug, sometimes even a whole keg, in their arms. They are so keen about bars that they always make sure that their clan hall has a bar filled to the brim with plenty of ale to last for a very, very long time.

One of the most important traits of the Longmane clan is their extreme and devout worship of the Goddess Belka. Inside their clan hall rests a large shrine to the Goddess of all things associated with a bar, love, and passion. It is this respect and worship of Belka that leads the Longmanes to live life the way that they do.

“Be merciful in speech and deed. Temper your anger and hostility with constructive and charitable endeavor. The children of the dwarves must live in safety and propagate. Love with a fiery passion. Embrace the gift of life with courtship and marriage. Belka restores the fertile seed of dwedmar life, while Anbella protects the fruit.

    Character's Name: Edward Blackrook

    Character's Age: 35

Character's Original Race (N/A if not applicable): Highlander

    Transformed form: Graven

    Creator's MC Name: N/A

    Creator's RP Name: N/A

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

A Graven is an individual who has experienced a gruesome, or unjust death, and returns back to the world of the living under certain circumstances. Gravens have similarities with other apparitions, however they are not the same. Gravens appear to have rotting flesh, an ethereal aura, and occasionally are engulfed in magical fire. Betrayals, and unforeseen tragic incidents can lead to the formation of a Graven. It is also possible for a Graven to form after large scale killings, such raids, and genocide. The amount of time it takes for a Graven to form can vary. Certain Gravens are able rise after a few days, while it may take others years. Once the Graven has finally formed, it will develop an insatiable desire to pursue their life’s goal. The goal each Graven possesses will differ between the individuals. Some goals are simple, and easy to fulfil. An example of this would be a man, who is determined to brew the finest ale in all of Axios. Other goals may be very grand in scale, and difficult to complete. An example of this would be a man, who is compelled to explore the deepest unseen reaches of the world in pursuit of his long lost artifact. Unlike most creatures, Gravens are generally able to interact with those around them. These interactions will take a toll on the Gravens form over time, due to their weaknesses to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Because of this, many Gravens will interact with others in a place with very little sunlight. Gravens also have a weakness to gold, silver, and steel weapons. If a Graven is stabbed through it’s heart, it will die for a period of time. Magical fire, alteration, holy magic, shamanism, and fi magic are all very effective against a Graven, but not capable of exorcising them. For all of their disadvantages, Gravens have an advantage when it comes to influencing their surroundings. If a Graven is no longer able to fulfil their goal, they will be exorcised. If a Gravens workplace is destroyed, then this would also cause the Graven to be exorcised, unless the Graven is able to finish their job in another location. It is also possible for a Graven to pass on spontaneously at a time unknown to them.

  5. The City of Yolwin

Harsh winds and a light snow pelt the windows of Blackrook Hold as the young, Jarl Rodin Sigbrand, writes diligently to his mentor, Edward Blackrook. “The city you commissioned is coming along nicely. The men have been working tirelessly, and Yolwin is nearing completion.” The Jarl would pause from his writing, and stare dreamily at the city through the window. A satisfactory grin would creep to the corners of his mouth. The smile would slowly fade away, and the Jarl would continue writing his letter, “Soon the gates of Yolwin will be opened, and you are nowhere to be found. In the past you’ve been known to leave for extended periods of time, but none as long as this. People are becoming concerned, and I fear I can no longer quell their concerns. If by some miracle you are reading this, please write back. Yours truly, Rodin Sigbrand.” The Jarl would then strap the letter to his most trusted courier snow owl, and send him into the tempest of winds outside.

The Jarl would grab his fur cloak, and storm out of his study, and into the city, heading towards the Temple of Belka to seek wisdom. The Jarl bursts through the temple’s spruce doors to be greeted by his brother Prophet Balgruff Sigbrand. The Jarl exclaims, “Balgruff! The gates of Yolwin will open any day now, and Admiral Blackrook is still nowhere to be found!” Prophet Balgruff replies in a calm manner, “Fear not brother, this is all a part of Belka’s magnificent design.” Balgruff places a hand on Rodin’s shoulder, “Perhaps there is no future for Blackrook in this place. Was it Blackrook that built this glorious city? Nay, it was us! The Sigbrands! We are those chosen by Belka herself to shine her glorious light into this dark world!” Rodin ponders this for a moment, then nods, “Perhaps you’re right, thank ye’ for this Balgruff.” Rodin would then turn and leave the temple.

The storm outside had gotten worse, and the winds and snow pummel the Jarl’s face. The Jarl begins to walk through the snowy streets, back towards his study. As he walks home the Jarl looks around at his surroundings thinking to himself,“Yes, this city truly is ours.” As the Jarl enters his keep, he is greeted by a statue of his mentor, an old navy sigil draped over the base of the statue. He stops, gazing at the statue and begins to speak, “I appreciate all that you did for us, but your time is over.” Rodin then tears down the old navy sigil, and walks towards his chambers. As he enters his chamber he turns around to face his guards and exclaims, “Open the gates, let the people enter our beautiful city of Yolwin.”
