    +1 good guy, let me sleep at his 10 room 14 bathroom mansion with heated flooring all around, a mega pool, 5 hot tubs, working bar, 10 car garage with 4 lambos in it, personal chef and golf course when i needed a place to stay in

    Wolfgang de Vilain stood alone atop the old hills of Acre, watching over the silent town. He smiled, reminiscing about his time there, then looked up and watched the sun go by. 

         "You gave me a chance to fight for my land. Something I never would have had if you never bothered to hear out this young Heartlander. And even when that did not go to plan, you still welcomed me and my family with open arms into your home when we had no where else to go. I wouldn't have been the man I am today if you did not share your kindness with me, and I am forever grateful for it all."

    Wolfgang let out a heavy sigh. As if this was something he was wanting to get out for a while.

         "I will not let your kindness go to waste. I have decided to care and fight for the nation you once ruled. The one you let many call home, even if they were not born in it. I will protect the thing you fought so hard to build up."

    Wolfgang got up from his spot on the hill, taking one last glance at the setting sun and flashing it a smile. He reached to a pouch on his belt, taking out a Carrion Black. He popped open the cork, looking at the bottle. 

             "If only we had met sooner. Maybe we could have shared more drinks with each other."

    The man took a swig of his drink, then pouring some out for his friend.

     

    "Rest well, King Karl III."

    Wolfgang de Vilain came over to his wife to look at the newspaper. "They were quite upset that a poor boy looking for a piece of bread was not convicted as a criminal, then proceeded to dishonour our family name, and ran away from a duel challenged by a 16 year old girl. Personally, I think they need to cope and seethe." The man said, then let out a hearty chuckle and walking back over to the counter to properly enjoy his tea.

    Wolfgang de Vilain read the missive and nodded proudly. A smile formed on his face as he remembered the good times he shared with the both of them leading up to this moment in time. He quickly showed his wife the missive and made sure that the both of them would be in attendance.

    Addressed to the High Pontiff of the Church of Canon,

     

    In response to the fate that has recently befallen the splintered Heartland Realm, we bear witness to the wretchedness of the Fallen Daemon itself rearing its ugly head in the politics of Humanity. Despite the wide acceptance of the independence of the Acrean state by the majority of human polities and the international community by and large, we have borne witness to church sanctioned interference in an attempt to justify forced relocation on behalf of the Aaunite military junta that has taken roost in the Ruins of New Vienne. 

     

    It saddens us greatly that the church would threaten those who wish to see us live freely without being forced into involuntary servitude to a King to whom we swore no fealty, to whose rule as King we did not agree, who has not granted us our lands or our titles, for we already possessed those. The church threatens these Canonist polities with excommunication, their highest form of punishment, for wishing to support their fellow Canonists in protecting their home. Meanwhile, the invader sends his undead minions against us. While he may claim to have had no knowledge of his councilor’s undead nature, we find it hard to believe any competent King would appoint someone to any position without first having seen their face.

     

    In response to this interference, we have opted not to let ourselves be slaughtered by our would-be oppressors armies, and the undead he sends against us, but rather, we opt to protect those precious lives of our community, lest we lose them to bloodthirsty invaders who wish for our land and undead who might raise them as their new minions for further conquests. We shall move and reestablish ourselves elsewhere, in hopes that we may once reclaim our homeland, be it sooner or later.

     

    Furthermore, we give thanks to our friends in Haense, Balian and Petra, who have stood up in support of our sovereignty, and who have shown willingness to protect us against the tyrant and his maligned servants that would force us into forced bondage to his crown.
     

    Acre shall endure.
