Character’s name: Gathain Telvhalnim Character’s sex: Male Character’s race: Dark Elf. Character’s age: (upon application, your character must be 18 or older, and depending on the race, they can be over five hundred years old!) 25 Biography (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore.): (where does your character come from?; where have they traveled to?; what year were they born in? et cetera.) Gathain was born in 1542 in Ebonglade and was raised by his Father, Varotrius, who worked as a blacksmith, his uncle Nalunden, Nalu for short, a man who loved traveling and wrote about it (Who taught him most of what he knows) his mother Lloruva, a sculptor and had a brother named Mervthas, who was 45 years his senior. Between the two, there was a clear preference for Mervthas, but in a way it was better for Gathain. Mervthas had a lot more pressure on his shoulders, while Gathain had the privilege to do as he pleased (Of course, from the standards of a Dark Elf.) and was quite close to Mervthas but he still was envious of the attention Mervthas got . Gathain always got hand me downs from Mervthas, including his first sword used to belong to his brother. When Gathain was about 10, he started to be curious about his surroundings, and wanted to develop skills, but his parents were so focused on his brother and had no time for him, even though he was an adult, so Gathain was mainly taught things by his uncle. The reason his uncle taught him was because he empathized with Gathain, since he was also had the same situation growing up as the younger sibling of Varotrius. Nalunden was also never successful in reproducing a child which made him grow attatched to Gathain. In his time with his uncle he learned things like sword fighting, fishing, smithing, sculpting, poetry, and leather-working. Nalunden also took Gathain all over the land, from places like Felsen, the glamorous capital of the Oren, to tall, snowy mountains with a harsh environment. Gathain always tried to bring a souveneer from wherever he went, weapons, rocks, cheap armor, anything, which developed his love to travel and his desire to learn. His life seemed to be great, but when he turned 15, his life took a turn for the worst. The Telvhalnim family wa s full of great blacksmiths, and every first born son was expected to take on the role of a blacksmith, that being Mervthas. Mervthas didn't want to be a blacksmith, but wanted to dedicate his time to make poems, but felt forced to take the job. He started working as a smith when Gathain was 5, and 10 years after starting to work, he couldn't handle not having time for his poems and decided to take his own life. Gathain, after coming back from a trip with his uncle, went to the forges to say hi to his brother, but found his body hanging from the roof instead. There was a folded piece of paper under Mervthas's body which had words written on it. Gathain, still in shock, reached for the paper, on it, the words "For my dear Brother." He unfolded it to find a letter directed towards him. They were close, but thought it was odd that he had left a note for him, since Mervthas didn't have much time for him. The letter said: "For my dear brother Gathain. This is my way of saying goodbye, don't think I didn't love you because I spent most of my days at the forge, in fact, I can confidently say that from our family, I loved you the most. You were always in a good mood and could cheer me up, I enjoyed our long talks, and how you would tell me stories about you and uncle Nalu, but I am sorry to say that wasn't enough to keep me going. I never wanted to be a blacksmith, and resent it and father for forcing me to work a job I hate to keep a family name, but at the time of my death, I have to forgive him, I don't want to die hating my father. I'm telling you this because I know you will understand. Brother, be free, fight for your dreams, don't be like me. I hope we will see each other in the next life, I bet you'll have lots of stories to tell me then. With a lot of love, your dear brother, Mervthas." Under the message there was a poem: "As water flows, and flowers bloom we all one day have to go sometimes in gloom" Gathain kept this letter hidden and always takes it with him to remember his brother. and made a letter of his own and threw it in the fire where Mervthas was cremated in hopes his brother would recieve his letter telling him how he forgave him and loved him dearly. Both his parents suffered greatly from their son's death. Llovura's sculptures represented her grief and were all upsetting, and slowly through the years became quieter and quiter, and started doing less work, to the point that when Gathain was 21, his mother became completely unresponsive and was reduced to the state of a vegetable. Similar things happened to his Father. The quality of his work lowered, his blades were dull and had to take care of Llovura. It was so bad that his dad sent him to live with Nalu, since he couldn't provide for Llovura and Gathain, and wouldn't do to Gathain what he had done to Mervthas. Nalu without hesitation took in Gathain and attempted to pull out from his state of grief but it took him years to feel motivated again. Nalu kept teaching and taking Gathain to beautiful places , slowly reviving him (also picking up the mission to cure his mother on the way) but when Gathain turned 23 when they were coming back to Ebonglade from Felsen and were carrying quite a bit , they were ambushed by bandits. There was about 6 bandits surrounding them, all from varying sizes and races. Nalu and Gathain managed to take down a couple of them, but one of the bigger ones managed to surprise Gathain and take him down from behind. When Nalu saw what was happening he immediately tackled rhe huge bandit bandit trying to get him off Gathain, the bandit managed to flip him over, and stuck his swotd through Nalu's eye, going through his head killing him. Even though Gathain was shocked at seeing the death of his uncle in front of him but took the chance to strike the distracted bandit on the back of the neck when he wasn't looking, knocking him out. Gathain felt extreme anger, but instead of killing the bandit directly, he undressed the bandit (Except for his undergarnment) and tied his arms and legs together with rope, then dragging him toa forest leaving him there to be eaten by hungry creatures. To make sure he would die, Gathain stuck around to hear the screams. He already had a couple injuries when dragging the bandit, including a couple broken ribs, so he had to make his way back home and had to tell Nalu's wife that her husband had died. This ofcourse affected him a great deal which is when he decided he would try to become strong so he could protect the ones he cared about, but staying in Ebonglade would bring him too much pain, so he talked it out with his father, telling him he was going to continue his education independently and would visit every once in a while, but never promised he would ever live in ebonglade again. The day Gathain left Ebonglade, he started writing about his travels, which is when his journey started. Personality Traits: plus likes and dislikes Gathain dislikes dishonest people, racists, hypocrites, greedy people. Gathain enjoys sword fighting, smithing, learning, and finding new places and new things. He loves to travel and move around, writing, and is not a great artist but enjoys doing it, he enjoys most types of music and wants to learn how to play it all. he is very blunt and will say what he thinks, he is very laid back, calm, and has a good grip on controlling his emotions thanks to all that happened to him in the past. he spends a lot of time reading to make up for his lack of wisdom. Gathain is an open book, most of the time answering questions honestly, but won't share much about himself if no one asks. He is a very serious person too, so he's not crac Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) Gathain is really a mixed bag, but mostly wants to learn how to handle most weapons, magic, smithing , be a better strategist, write about his travels, and to fight for what he thinks is right but is still exploring and discovering more about himself. Strengths/Talents: He excels at fighting with the traditional Dark elf weapon, but is open to using other weapons, and is a good strategist for his young age. Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) He is very inexperienced considering his multiple travels with his uncle. Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Gathain most of the time wears black leather plated armor but updates his wardrobe constantly, he has black hair, cement gray skin, purplish blue eyes and white hair, he is 6'1 weighs 145 pounds and thin but fit. Skin: (please provide us a screenshot of your character’s skin; if you need help, see our screenshot guide here.) Note: I'm gonna be constantly updating my skin so it might change.
