Legal Reviews: Review on the Relationship between the Royal Duma and the Haeseni Royal Army, 344: Jovenaar: Sigmar J. Baruch, Reza B. Gynsburg, Otto Wittenbach. Majority: Gynsburg, joined by Baruch and Wittenbach. Concurrence: N/A Dissent: N/A Opinion: That the Haeseni Royal Army serves two separate roles, that of domestic law enforcement and that of a military. And that the legislation of the Royal Duma only impacts the Haeseni Royal Army as a law enforcement entity, and therefore does not impede the “operation or composition” of the Haeseni Royal Army as a military entity. Review on the Relationship between the Royal Duma and the Aulic Government, 352: Jovenaar: Sigmar J. Baruch, Reza B. Gynsburg, Otto Wittenbach, Lukas Rakoczy. Majority: Gynsburg, joined by Wittenbach. Concurrence: Baruch, Rakoczy. Dissent: N/A Opinion: That the Duma does not have the legislative power to legislate on itself or the Aulic Government, as both of these entities were created by Royal Edict, and past precedents have set that these be amended only by Royal Prerogative. Therefore, allowing the Duma to legislate on itself and the Aulic Government would contradict and undermine the authority of the Crown. Review on the Legislative Process of Repeating Proposals, 355: Jovenaar: Sigmar J. Baruch, Reza B. Gynsburg, Otto Wittenbach, Lukas Rakoczy. Majority: Rakoczy, joined by Gynsburg. Concurrence: Wittenbach. Dissent: Baruch. Opinion: That a failed piece of legislation may not be re-introduced within the same four-year Duma Period without significant modifications to the legislation. As the Members of the Duma represent the people, a bill that fails does not have support of the people, and allowing the reintroduction of such failed bills would subvert the will of the People. Review on the Composition of Trials, 358: Jovenaar: Sigmar J. Baruch, Reza B. Gynsburg, Otto Wittenbach, Lukas Rakoczy, Erika L. Kortrevich. Majority: Kortevich, joined by Baruch, Gynsburg, Wittenbach, and Rakoczy. Concurrence: N/A Dissent: N/A Opinion: That no one but the Crown should have the authority to deem a person guilty on their own accord, and that the current composition of trials, in which three Jovenaar must be present, must be maintained to ensure that all trials are fair and just. Review on the Nobility’s Right to Personal Guards, 367: Jovenaar: Reza B. Gynsburg, Lukas Rakoczy, Erika L. Kortevich, Lauritz F. Jensen, Annika A. Vyronov. Majority: Jensen, joined by Rakoczy and Kortrevich. Concurrence: Gynsburg, Vyronov. Dissent: N/A Opinion: That the term “armsmen” does not refer to the rank of Armsman within the Haeseni Royal Army, as there are no prior references to the structure of the Haeseni Royal Army. And that the Haeseni Peer and their noble kin are, as a whole, entitled to two personal guards. Review on the Eligibility of Regents to run in Elections, 371: Jovenaar: Reza B. Gynsburg, Lukas Rakoczy, Erika L. Kortevich, Lauritz F. Jensen, Annika A. Vyronov, Eleanora A. Mannox, Konstantin Wick. Majority: Jensen, joined by Kortrevich and Vyronov. Concurrence: Gynsburg. Dissent: Rakoczy, Wick and Mannox. Opinion: That a regent cannot run for the office of Alderman during their tenure as regent of a noble peer, as there would be a conflict between the duties of a Regent and the duty of the Alderman, as regents are principally obliged to attend all Duma sessions on behalf of the titled peer they hold regency over. Judicial Philosophies: Functionalism: Derived from: The Living Law, 343. Authored by: Reza B. Gynsburg. Summary: Legal Functionalism, or simply functionalism, is a view of the law most concerned with defining the function of law to address dynamic social changes. The law is interpreted with an adaptation that allows for its meaning to transcend original intent so as to address aspects of law not explicit to the text. Adherents of this view believe the Haurul Caezk must actively shift beyond original intent with the context and values of society of their particular time in mind. Originalism: Derived from: The Originalist Interpretation, 343. Authored by: Sigmar J. Baruch. Summary: Originalism is a strictly textualist view, which holds the wording and phrasing to be paramount to the law. If something is not mentioned in the law, then it is not part of the law, whether the morality of it can be questioned or not, something is not a crime if the law does not say it is. Likewise, the originalist would interpret the law exactly as written in the Haurul Caezk, and put it in the context of the meaning intended by the original authors.
  6. The Great Strife of 366 ES VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, In recent months, there has been great strife within our beloved Kongzem of Hanseti-Ruska causing some to seek out comfort abroad or others to find solace in vigilantism. The peace of our subjects has been disturbed, and their minds frayed with worry that the law no longer serves them. This addressal aims to ask for a reconsidering of recent affairs and hold faith that this Kongzem is a place of safety for its subjects. The Kongzem has become wracked with arsonists, possessions, trolls, famine and other malign forces that have undermined our strength and unity. Any decent man may think about their family and lock themselves up, but it is in times of fear and uncertainty that a man defines himself; it is in times of peril that they prove themselves strong, that they prove themselves brave, that they prove themselves Haeseni. The Kongzem and Aulic Government failed to ensure that justice was properly done, thoroughly and carefully as it should be. Those sworn to render wise counsel fell silent, and those sworn to uphold fairness erred, and so it is only with the willingness and want to do better that we move forward as a nation. It is in light of this that the Crown does duly swear to ensure that the law shall work for all, that any who fall accused shall have their right to be heard before a Jovenaar vindicated. Those of magical talent who have begun to fear they may also be labelled as ‘dark mages’ need not fear: you are welcome here, now and always. The Crown seeks not the arbitrary persecution of mages, but only justice against those who ply their power malevolently, like the malicious spirit who plagued our own Koeng in an attempt to manipulate him. To display my good will to become a divine vassal of Godanis holy will, I have decided that I will not wear shoes, fine robes, eat fine foods or drink alcohol and any other form of luxury, for an entirety of one year. I will allow myself to be cleansed of the remaining taint the Ibless spawn creature has left on my soul, while I continue to lead you, as your Koeng and Leader. I ask You, to pray for me and for the entirety of the Kongzem, so my soul may be cleansed and purified like Horens in the Grotto of Gamesh . We pray that St Henry Otto of Alban guides our nation into a new time of ensuring that justice is dispensed fairly, and that all shall have their day in court. IV JOVEO MAAN, His Royal Majesty, Henrik II, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Ulgaard, Lahy, Sorbesborg and Slesvik, Duke of Carnatia and Vidaus, Margrave of Korstadt and Rothswald, Count of Chatnik, Nenzing, Graiswald, Karikhov, Baranya, Kvasz, Kavat, Karovia, Kovachgrad, Torun, Turov, Kaunas, Alban, Reza and Markev, Viscount of Grauspin, Baron of Thurant, Rytsburg, Venzia, Essenstadt, Krepost and Kralta, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera

When it comes to adapting to the times, no voice is better to hear than the voice of the Royal Duma itself. Indeed, since 359 ES, the Royal Duma has passed a vast amount of Advisory Bills, many of which particularly address the Royal Duma itself. As spring turns to summer, and the fields near Karosgrad are grown and plentiful, where the farmers reap the products of their labour, so must the Duma reap the products of their own labour. The Crown thus seeks to address the following Advisory Acts: The Eligibility to Vote Advisory Act of 359 ES, the Vote of No Confidence Advisory Act of 362 ES, the Duma Reconstructure Advisory Act of 362 ES, as well as the Succession Advisory Act of 359 ES and the Royal Succession Advisory Act of 362 ES. 10. VE ATTENLUND GRANS EDYKT 364 ES The Attenlund Frontier Edict of 364 ES Issued and Confirmed by His Royal Majesty, Koeng Henrik II on the 364 ES. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, The Attenlund frontier owned by His Majesty, King Heinrik II, has proven to be bountiful in harvest and game thanks to its mild climate and rich soils. The land to the east teems with life from the worms in the ground to great hordes of boar that are ready to be hunted. The Attenlund is a paradise for those of hardy nature, the Haeseni. Whilst it may teem with natural life and is under the influence of our sovereign, His Royal Majesty Heinrik II, it remains unused and empty. It is the will of the Crown that loyal and worthwhile subjects would populate this land and make the presence of our kingdom known through its settlement. Humble farmers and founders of hunting lodges will soon find themselves able to settle this land for the Crown after being confirmed upon both their acceptance to settle as well as acceptance of their blueprints for buildings. Afterwards, they will be taxed a small fee that shall contribute to their land’s defence. His Majesty’s presence shall be felt through the supervision of peers who might move out to protect and administer castles. IV JOVEO MAAN, IV JOVEO EHR, 364 ES His Royal Majesty, Heinrik II, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Ulgaard, Lahy, Sorbesborg and Slesvik, Duke of Carnatia and Vidaus, Margrave of Korstadt and Rothswald, Count of Chatnik, Nenzing, Graiswald, Karikhov, Baranya, Kvasz, Kavat, Karovia, Kovachgrad, Torun, Turov, Kaunas, Alban, Reza and Markev, Viscount of Grauspin, Baron of Thurant, Rytsburg, Venzia, Esenstadt, Krepost and Kralta, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera. The region is topped by snow Northwards of Karosgrad, and holds the denser forestation of Haense. FORESTS NEW ROTHSWALD Located South of the Margravate of Greyspine, and West of Karosgrad, New Rothswald is a coniferous forest often covered in a layer of snow. The region is rough and mountainous, and spans between Straat Eada, the Margravate of Greyspine, the Viscounty of Aurvelt, and Karosgrad. Rumors about this forest are dark and foreboding— speaking of corpses, trolls, and incoming death. NIEDERWALD Located between the Duchy of Reinmar and the Royal City, Niederwald crowns the mountain separating the ducal and crown region. This pine forest is the densest within the lands, but would be a challenge to utilize due to the varying elevation of its region. Named “Niederwald” from New Marian “Lower Forest” due to its southern footprint compared to the rest of the core region. LAKES LAKE VIKTORIA The largest lake in Hanseti-Ruska, named after the late Koenas Viktoria of Metterden, for her involvement in the Scyfling Conflict and the naval aspect of the war, and furthermore her contributions to the kingdom as consort and dowager. The southernmost section of Lake Viktoria is owned by the Holy Orenian Empire and connected to the Augusta River, leading to the ocean. LAKE VORON Dividing the Core Lands of Haense, and newly established Attenlund, Lake Voron sits in the center of the Haeseni territory. The northernmost edge of the lake has the icey expanse of the Rimeveld wastes sliding into the water, while each of the other three sides are surrounded by the Petravezk Mountains to the South, and Mount Sigismund to the East. LAKE WEIßÄLERSEE (Common: White Stallion Lake) Sitting between the Duchy of Reinmar and the lands of the Holy Orenian Empire, Lake Weißälersee is the smallest and shallowest lake in Hanseti-Ruska. The lake is named for Saint Tylos Barclay, whose main symbol was a white stallion. The name itself, Weißälersee comes from Waldenian and Reinmaren combination of linguistics. OTHER KRAB BAY Named after the attack of giant crabs to occur upon the port of Karosgrad, Krab Bay is the Northern point of Lake Viktoria, and holds the majority of the ships of Hanseti-Ruska. The bay is cold, but holds considerably good fishing. STAAL EADA Connecting the lands of Hanseti-Ruska and Norland, the river Staal Eada is named after a Norlandic child, Eada, that was known for her passion for fishing. The river twists considerably, and passes through the lands of Haense, the unclaimed edge of the Rimeveld wastes, and comes out towards the Norlandic village of Elysium. REGIONS AND LANDMARKS of THE ATTENLUND Named “The Attenlund,” meaning Eastern Lands in New Marian, the Attenlund is referenced as the land claimed by the Crown of Hanseti-Ruska in the 361 E.S. Attenlund Proclamation. The region is sparsely forested with the same coniferous trees as the Core Lands, other than in the easternmost region, the Staalmarsh. The majority of the Attenlund is rough and mountainous, with small plains towards the Orenian lands. PETRAVEZK MOUNTAINS (Common: Persistence) Stretching from the edge of the Core Lands to the Staalmarsh, the Petravezk mountains are named for the New Marian word Persistence, to symbolize the unwavering persistence of the Kingdom over the long years of its existence. Too does it reference the Biharism saying embedded into the culture of the Haeseni people, “I would have perished had I not persisted”. The mountains stand strong to guard the border of Haense and the Holy Orenian Empire. MOUNT SIGISMUND The largest standalone mountain in the Attenlund, Mount Sigismund is named for Koeng Sigismund II, who stood stalwart in the name of his kingdom. Mount Sigismund stands as a bastion against the vast Rimeveld Wastes, and is said to boast great hunting. THE STAALMARSH The strangest and least known region of Haense, the Staalmarsh or ‘Steel Marsh’ is a swampy and humid area covered in water and mud. Creatures such as alligators can be found in the staalmarsh, making it an extremely dangerous area to traverse, the terrain making it difficult to navigate. SIGNED, HER EXCELLENCY, Marcella Karolina Barclay, Lady Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska

  14. THE ORDER OF QUEEN MAYA AND THE LILY The collar and crest of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily [Original post by @yopplwasupxxx | Coats of arms by @kipps | Updated post by @Xarkly and @Nolan_] [Research by @GMRO, @Zaerie, and @Drew2_dude] LIFST HAURULN OVARE LIFST LANZI [UDPATED AS OF MAY 2022] The Order of Queen Maya and the Lily was founded by Koeng Sigismund II in 322ES in honour of his mother, Queen Maya, who was celebrated as a champion of learning and knowledge. The Order of Queen Maya and the Lily is a knightly order of merit, with the honorific of ‘Knight of the Lily’ or ‘of the Lily’ awarded to those who make significant contributions to the Kongzem of Hanseti-Ruska, be it through politics, medicine, science, art, academia, economics or law. Those dubbed Knights of the Lily are paragons of the Haeseni people, and representative of the betterment with which the people of the Kongzem bring to the world. They may distinguish themselves with the title of ‘Sir’ or ‘Dame’ or ‘of the Lily’, and by wearing the Order’s Collar. The Order was originally established with the Edict of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily 322ES, and though this Edict remains formally unincorporated into the Haurul Caezk, the method of knighting remains the same. Those deemed worthy of induction into the Order are summoned to the next sitting of the Royal Court by an Edict of Elevation, and swear the Order’s oath in a Ceremony of the Lily: "I, [Name], hereby swear my service to the Crown and Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, in obedience to law and the dignity of the nation, as well as to the benefit of the Haeseni people. I swear to protect Jeremic Rights of Life, Liberty, Bearing Arms, Privacy, and Property through righteous action and pious defense, holding true in life and in deed the sanctity of my person and the Kingdom. With Godan as my witness, I do swear." Following the Edict of Knightly Orders issued by Konstantin Wick in 343ES, traditional military knighthood was restored in the form of the Order of the Crow and the Marian Retinue, and thus the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily became an Order of civil merit, with some rare exceptions for military leaders. Haeseni of all birth and bloodlines may be knighted into the Order, and families seeking ennoblement would greatly strengthen their petition with such a knighthood. There are three ranks within the Order of Queen Maya, awarded to Knights of the Lily based on their achievements. There ranks are: VALTAKOSSAR: The highest possible civilian honour in the Kongzem of Hanseti-Ruska awarded for unmatched achievement. Valtakossars may use the signature VKML. HAUCHKOSSAR: Awarded for significant and usually multiple achievements, the likes of which most people will never rival. Hauchkossars may use the signature HKML. KOSSAR: Awarded for remarkable achievements in pursuit of the betterment of the Kongzem that goes beyond what is expected of the ordinary Haeseni. Kossars may use the moniker KML. As of the publishing of this missive, there have been five Ceremonies of the Lily, equating to four groups of Haeseni knighted into the Order, consisting of: the Chapter of 322 knighted by Koeng Sigismund II; the Chapter of 327 knighted by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick; the Chapter of 353 knight by Koeng Josef I; the Chapter of 356ES knighted by Koeng Josef I; and the Chapter of 358ES under Prince-Regent Heinrik Karl. Those knighted in each Chapter, and their deeds, are recorded below. 322ES I CHAPTER The Chapter of 322 was the first series of knightings into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. Issued in the prime of his reign, Koeng Sigismund’s Edict of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily called upon a record fifteen Haeseni to attend the First Ceremony of the Lily. These fifteen included the Order’s first Valtakossar, four Hauchkossar, and ten Kossar, who are listed below. @Piov SIR TERRENSZ MAU VKML XXII Palatin | Aulic Ministna | Dumasekra-Valwyk-Ayr | Sekra & Valtaoffiez i ve Senat | Sekra & Valtaoffiez i ve Haus i Commenz 22nd Lord Palatine | Aulic Minister | Member of the Duma (Valwyck-Ayr) | Member & President of the Senate | Member & President of the House of Commons _______________ Knighted as VALTAKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for an unmatched political career as twenty-second Palatine of the Aulic Government from 285ES-286ES, Aulic Advisor, Member of the Royal Duma from 279ES-285ES and Haeseni Member and President of the Senate and House of Commons. Sir Terrence, born in 246ES, earned the moniker of ‘Father of the Imperial Diet’ and led a career that would serve as a measuring stick for generations of politicians to come. He began his life a poor fisherman in Ayr, but changed his fortunes when he represented the County of Ayr in the Duma on behalf of House Baruch. He became the first Leader of the Opposition of the newly-christened Feudalist Bench, charged with holding the Lord Palatine and his centralist government accountable, and shortly after was called to sit on the council of Emperor Alexander II de Joannes as Auditor-General of the Holy Orenian Empire; a position he would hold until the Emperor’s death. Upon returning to Haense, Sir Terrence resumed his role as opposition leader until the death of Lord Palatine Lerald Vyronov. Sir Terrence then filled the role of Palatine himself at the behest of Koeng Andrik III, marking the first Feudalist head of government. While Sir Terrence dutifully upheld the Office, many remember his government now for the ambitious Canal Project to connect Helena and New Reza which ultimately failed and led to his resignation. After his tenure as Palatine, Sir Terence served as Senior Senator to the newly-founded Imperial Diet, where he would spend the remainder of his career as both a Senator and, following the Senate’s abolition, Member of the House of Commons, and was elected to serve as President of both legislatures leading the Josephite Party. Sir Terrence May eventually retired in his old age, passing the mantle of leader and President to Sir Konrad Stafyr, and died of natural causes shortly thereafter. For his unrivalled political career, Sir Terrence was named the first Valtakossar of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. He held this honour exclusively for thirty-six years until Sir Manfred Barclay was named the second upon his retirement as Lord Marshal. @Miniguy15736 SIR ERWIN BARCLAY HKML I Herzen van Reinmar | XXX Kengzhetmann 1st Duke of Reinmar | 30th Lord Marshal _______________ Knight as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for extensive and esteemed service as Lord-Marshal of Haense in strengthening the Haeseni Royal Army and for military leadership during the War of the Alliance of Independent States. Sir Erwin, born in 282ES, began his service at a young age in the Brotherhood of Saint Karl under his father, Lord Marshal Wilheim Barclay, and continued his service long after Wilheim’s dismissal. Sir Erwin climbed through the ranks of the Brotherhood, practically ignorant to Haeseni politics at the time, which he famously loathed. Sir Erwin followed in his father’s footsteps in becoming Lord Marshal, a position he held through thirty-one years marked by some of the worst conflicts in recent memory, including the Rubern War, the Scyfling Invasion and the Begrudged Alliance. Sir Erwin reformed the Army during his tenure, and was elevated twice to higher titles of nobility - first to Count, then to Duke of Reinmar, though the latter appointment sparked tensions between the Kongzem of Haense and the Holy Orenian Empire over the ability to bestow titles, which became a crucial argument for Haeseni independence. Sir Erwin retired as an icon of the Haeseni Royal Army, and would remain so for generations to come, with his son and later grandson filling his role. He was awarded the unique Medal of the Northern Fox for his military command. He was further inducted posthumously into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily by King Heinrik II to the rank of Valtakossar. @yopplwasupxxx SIR OTTO BARROW HKML I Zweimpalatin | XXIV Haucepiskiop Jorenus | Dumasekra-Jorenus | Aulic Ministna 1st Deputy Palatine | 14th Archbishop of Jorenus | Member of the Duma (Jorenus) | Aulic Minister _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his appointment as first Deputy Palatine in 321ES, for his service as twenty-fourth Archbishop of Jorenus from 391ES-305ES, as an Aulic Minister without portfolio from 294ES-305ES and again from 318ES-321ES, as a Member of the Royal Dum on behalf of the Archbishopric of Jorenus from 294ES-305ES, and for his work in literature, mythology, Naumariav language, and history. @Drew2_dude SIR SIGMAR BARUCH HKML I Herzen van Valwyck | V Herzen i ve Duma | Dumasekra-Valwyk-Ayr 1st Duke of Valwyck | 5th Speaker of the Duma | Member of the Duma (Valwyck-Ayr) _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his service as the fifth Speaker of the Duma and Aulic Minister from 286ES-306ES, Member of the Royal Duma from 285ES-306ES and his extensive contributions to Haeseni literature through historical works and publishing of the Golden Crow Chronicles. Sigmar Joren Baruch, born 262ES, began his service to Haense as Count of Ayr after inheriting the fiefdom at a young age due to his father’s treachery during the War of Two Emperors. Sigmar, following his tutelage under Lord-Regent Lerald Vyronov and Marius Karl Baruch, was appointed as Lord Kastellan and participated in the First Reform of the Royal Duma, and founded the Feudalist Bench alongside Terrence May and Karl Vyronov. Continued participation in the Duma led to his appointment of Lord Speaker, an office he would hold for the next twenty years. His esteemed office and the growing prestige of House Baruch earned them a Ducal title shortly before abdicating to his son Petyr and resigning as Speaker. In retirement, Sir Sigmar began writing the Golden Crow Chronicles, forming half of Baruch & Kortrevich Publishing, and served three terms in the Imperial House of Commons as well as publishing a series of books on Haeseni politics and history. For his achievements both during his youth and in retirement, Sir Sigmar was dubbed a Knight of the Lily by Koeng Sigismund II. @AndrewTech SIR KONRAD STAFYR HKML XXIII Palatin | IV Herzen i ve Duma | Aulic Ministna | Dumasekra-Nenzing | Sekra i ve Senat | Sekra & Valtaoffiez i ve Haus i Commenz 23rd Lord Palatine | 4th Speaker of the Duma | Aulic Minister | Member of the Duma | Member of the Senate | Member & President of the House of Commons _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his service as twenty-third Lord Palatine of Haense from 286ES-293ES, fourth Speaker of the Duma from 276ES-286ES, as an Aulic Minister without portfolio appointed in 315ES, as representative of the Duma on behalf of Nenzing from 272ES-286ES and as a politician in the Senate and House of Commons. Born in 254ES, Sir Konrad served as Speaker of the Duma during the War of Two Emperors before he succeeded Terrence May as Lord Palatine during the reign of Koeng Andrik III. He held the Office for several years, though resigned after the death of the then-Koeng and instead pursued a political career in the wider Empire. He served as Junior Senator of Haense in the Imperial Senate, and, following the Senate’s abolition, was a key member of the Josephite Party in the House of Commons under his old friend Terrence May, whom he succeeded as both leader of the Party and President of the legislature. He retired after one term as President, and died of natural causes while presiding pro-tempore over a session of the Royal Duma in New Reza. Alongside Sir Terrence May, Sir Konrad is commemorated as an icon of Haeseni politics. @HogoBojo SIR EDVARD AMADOR KML I Styuard | II Aranyiaz 1st High Seneschal | 2nd Royal Treasurer _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for loyal and excellent service as High Seneschal, to which he was appointed in 305ES, and skillfully administering the interior affairs of New Reza throughout his life, and later his work as Royal Treasurer. Born in 285ES in New Reza, Sir Edvard began his career as a Steward in the Royal Capital. After years of his service under his cousin - Sir Rennard Amador - he eventually succeeded him as High Steward in 311ES at the age of twenty-six. During his tenure, he worked on a variery of projects to benefit the Crown and the Haeseni people, such as the New Reza city expansion, and the income increase initiative, among others. Due to Sir Edvard's hard work, Koeng Sigismund II reinstated the title of High Seneschal as a seat on the Aulic Council overseeing all interior affairs, and appointed Sir Edvard to the office, which he held for years until resigning shortly after the death of Sigismund II. He again followed in Sir Rennard's footsteps by becoming Lord Treasurer under Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick and later Koeng Josef I, and continued the careful management of the Royal Treasury, the taxation system, and assisting with financial projects such as the Golden Crow Bank. @moosehunter123 SIR RENNARD AMADOR KML I Aranyiaz 1st Royal Treasurer _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for loyal and esteemed service as Lord Treasurer, and excellence in the maintenance of the Royal Treasury and administration of economic affairs. Born in 287ES, Sir Rennard originated as a merchant, befitting his family name, in New Reza. He distinguished himself as a steward of the city, and built up the Haeseni Fur Trading Company, which grew exponentially under Rennard’s management and contributed significantly to the goods produced and traded in the Kongzem. Sir Rennard secured an appointment as Lord Seneschal, where he applied his monetary expertise in the taxation and sale of properties within the city. In his latter years of service, Sir Rennard assumed the Office of Lord Treasurer as his younger relative Sir Edvard became Lord Seneschal, and thus Sir Rennard concluded his service with prudent oversight of the Royal Treasury and the Fur Trading Company. He retired after the death of Koeng Sigismund II. @kipps SIR ANTON BARCLAY KML XXVI Kardnal-Haucepiskop wir Jorenus | Vaezstja 26th Cardinal Jorenus | Artist _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his service as twenty-sixth Archbishop of Jorenus as appointed in 315ES and his theological contributions to Haense. Born in 253ES, Sir Anton was the younger brother of the famed Wilheim Barclay, and followed him into military service, though Sir Anton became renowned for his heraldic artwork instead. He retired from the Haeseni Royal Army to begin clerical service in the Canonist Church after witnessing the miracle of Saint Tylos, and was appointed as Archbishop of Jorenus around the age of forty. He assisted in the containment of Lendian heresy during its spread in the Kongzem, and eventually rose to the position of Cardinal. His clerical career was defined by his founding of the Reinmarian clergy, his copious publication of theological papers, and he was even noted for his participation in the Scyfling War. @MadOne SIR OSVALD BARCLAY KML VI Herzen i ve Duma | II Zweimpalatin | Dumasekra-Aldylvevar 6th Speaker of the Duma | 2nd Deputy Palatine | Member of the Duma (Alderman) _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his service as a Member of the Royal Duma from 312ES onwards, following which he further distinguished himself as Deputy Palatine and 7th Speaker of the Duma. Sir Osvald was born in 288ES, and originated from a military background like most of House Barclay. He was initially honoured with military knighthood, and dubbed as Ser Osvald ‘the Reformed’ by Koeng Sigismund II, and became the Kaptain Knight of the Golden Hussars from a young age, earning his moniker through overcoming personal struggles. Despite his distinguished military service, Sir Osvald is best remembered for his political service to the Kongzem within the Royal Duma. He served around fifteen years as an elected Alderman - an unmatched period for an elected officer - with notable works including the Valwyck Pact and establishing the Tribune seat through the Representation of the People Act, before he was appointed as the legislature’s Speaker and Deputy Palatine. Following Haeseni independence from the Holy Orenian, Sir Osvald implemented major Duma reforms to account for the Kongzem’s new legislative capacity. He was relieved of his duties by Koeng Josef I, and retired from public life thereafter with an accomplished career. @Juli DAME SOFIYA BARUCH KML Haucpalatsaar Grand Lady _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for her maintenance of the Royal Courts and the organization of celebrations, festivals and events as Grand Lady. Born Sofiya Aleksandra Vanir in 298ES, she married Duke Petyr Baruch, the then-Lord Palatine, to become Duchess-Consort of Valwyck. She distinguished herself independently through her service as the Grand Lady under Queen Viktoria’s Council, and orchestrated a string of successful events, including the international Reznian Games, and her creation of the Haeseni game of Lafsk. For her service in the Queen’s Council, Koeng Sigismund II deemed her worthy to be dubbed as a Knight of the Lily. After extensive participation in the Scyfling War, during which she sustained several wounds, Duchess Sofiya died seemingly of suicide. @Quinn275 SIR OTTO KORTREVICH KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his military reformative work and contributions to Haeseni literature. Born in Markev in 230ES, Sir Otto was enfeoffed as the first Lord Kortevich and Baron of Koravia prior to his abdication to his son thirty years later. Sir Otto proceeded to distinguish himself militarily, and, under Koeng Robert I, established the second iteration of the Haeseni Royal Army in which Sir Otto served as Lord Marshal for eighteen years, from 259ES to 277ES. Sir Otto’s marshalship saw an increase in recruitment and structure, contributing greatly to the Kongzem’s endurance of the War of the Two Emperors. Notably, Sir Otto was a signatory of the Treaty of Reza, which concluded the War. Prior to Sir Otto’s succession by Prince Otto Alimar, he aided in the reformation of the second iteration of the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. Sir Otto concluded his military contributions to the Kongzem later in life as a Royal Advisor of War under both Koeng Andrik III and Koeng Andrik IV, before he worked alongside Sir Otto Barrow in expanding the use and vocabulary of the Naumarian language. For these significant military contributions and later literary work, Sir Otto was dubbed a Knight of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. Having reached the age of one-hundred, Sir Otto passed peacefully of natural causes surrounded by his family in 330ES. @Zanthuz SIR VIKTOR KORTREVICH VKML Kastell i Skriba | II Hauchdragus Kastellan Scribe | 2nd Hauchdragus _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his contributions to Haeseni literature and journalism as a publisher of the Golden Crow Chronicles. Born in Korstadt in 294ES, Sir Viktor served as the second Margrave of Korstadt, first Viscount of Krusev and third Baron of Krusev from his father’s abdication in 304ES to his own in 352ES. He then co-established Baruch & Kortrevich Publishing with his father-in-law Sir Sigmar Baruch, which led to the celebrated Golden Crow Chronicles newspaper, which published seventeen editions from 312ES to 349ES read by over half a million Haeseni. Politically, Sir Viktor served as the Lord Speaker of the Imperial House of Lords from 308ES to 319ES, composing the seventeenth to nineteenth Imperial Diets and paved the way for ennoblement of House Ludovar with the County of Otistadt and House Vyronov with the Barony of Astfield. Following the Kongzem’s independence from the Holy Orenian Empire, Sir Viktor served as Kastellan Scribe, and orchestrated state-publishing efforts in the following years, promoting Haeseni culture and history alike through his works. In recognition of his literary excellence, Sir Viktor was later appointed as Hauchdragus of the newly-reformed Academy of Saint Charles - a position he holds as of the time of this publishing. He was affirmed by His Majesty’s Royal Duma in the sitting of 394 ES to be further inducted posthumously into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Valtakossar. @TH3GHOSTWAFFL3 SIR DIETRICH VAN JUNGINGEN KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for extensive works in Haeseni literature and poetry. Renowned as the foremost Haeseni poet in recent times, Sir Diedrik published his many works from the reign of Koeng Andrik III to Koeng Sigismund II. His works were celebrated not only in the Kongzem but also throughout the Holy Orenian Empire at the time, for which he was awarded the Imperial Poetry Laureate and his dubbing as a Knight of the Lily under Koeng Sigismund II. His countless works include Ode to Koeng Andrik III, Sons of Horen, The Miscellanies: An Anthology and Sigismund’s Kingdom: An Anthology, all of which are stocked in libraries and Haeseni homes. Sir Dietrich died of old age, publishing his final works, The Nation Awakes, on his deathbed. @Rudi SIR JOHANN VAN REMSBURG KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his contributions in the reformation of Haeseni knighthood and education. Born to the last Baroness of Remsburg, a minor barony in the Imperial crownlands, Sir Johann was sent to squire under Prinz Godfric Alimar and Klaus von Orange in his youth with the expectation of developing a aristocratic education suitable of his station in the newly-formed Academy of St. Catherine. During his studies, he secured a betrothal to Prinzesa Amelya Barbanov. His most notable work proved to be his thesis “Haeseni Knighthood and its Flaws”, which would later result in the reform of knighthood to resemble today’s Order of Queen Maya and the Lily, which he was fittingly inducted into as a result. Sir Johann served the Haeseni defence in the Scyfling Invasion, and was taken captive during the First Battle of Fort Buck, where Scyflings under Yva Stoneshield forced the Haeseni to surrender the fortress and later reinforced by the Scyfling leader Bralt the Boar. In the Infiltration of Fort Buck, Sir Johann was the subject of an attempted rescue mission by the Haeseni Royal Army which resulted in mass casualties. @Flapman SIR WILHELM VYRONOV KML III Vasriciar | Jovenaar III Lord Justiciar | Judge _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for esteemed judicial service to Haense and Humanity through service of the Aulic Government and as Supreme Court Justice of the Imperial Supreme Court. Born as a bastard to one of his noble father’s servants, Sir Wilhelm’s mother fled to Curon, fearing that Lord Robert Vyronov may have been threatened by the existence of the bastard Wilhelm. After his mother died of illness, leaving Sir Wihelm alone at the age of twelve, he returned to his homeland of Haense, though kept his identity as a Vyronov bastard a secret. He survived as a street urchin in Reza until he enlisted in the Haeseni Royal Army, and finally revealed his lineage at the age of sixteen to acquire the surname ‘Wald’. Sir Wihlelm developed a love for reading and the law during his service, and at twenty he applied for the position of an Imperial Judge - an honour he would receive in 315ES owing to his promising young mind. For his success - rising from street urchin to respect lawman - Sir Wihelm was legitimized as an official nobleman of House Vyronov by Koeng Sigismund II. Following a decade of service in the Imperial Circuit Court, Sir Wihelm was nominated and confirmed to the Imperial Supreme Court in 324ES, distinguishing himself as the only Haeseni to hold such an office. For his esteemed judicial success, Sir Wihelm was dubbed a Knight of the Lily. After the death of Koeng Sigismund II, Sir Wihelm resigned as a Supreme Court Justice and assumed the Office of the Justiciar under the then-Lord Regent Konstantin Wick. During his tenure as Justiciar, he aided in the formulation of the first rendition of the Haeseni law code that would later become the Haurul Caezk. After a long career, Sir Wihelm Vyronov retired shortly before Haeseni independence. 327ES II CHAPTER In the year 327ES, Koeng Sigismund II published the Second Edict of Elevation to the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. The Second Ceremony of the Lily was delayed by the ongoing Scyfling Invasion that had swallowed up major Haeseni territories - mostly notably the Margravate of Vasiland - and the brewing War of the Begrudged Alliance in the south. In 329ES, just prior to the conclusion of the Scyfling Invasion and the outbreak of the War of the Begrudged Alliance proper, Koeng Sigismund II took his own life in protest of the Holy Orenian Empire’s insistence on Haeseni involvement in the War of the Begrudged Alliance. Sir Konstantin Wick was named to the position of Lord-Regent of the Kongzem of Hanseti-Ruska, and administered the Second Ceremony of the Lily on the late Koeng’s behalf in 329ES. The Second Ceremony and Edict named far less individuals than the First, totalling at six and consisting of no Valtakossars, one Hauchkossar, and five Kossars, who are listed below. @Xarkly SIR KONSTANTIN WICK HKML XXVII Palatin | II Vasriciar | Dumasekra-Wick | Sekra & Valtaoffiez i ve Haus i Commenz 27th Lord Palatine | 2nd Lord Justiciar | Member of the Duma (Wick) | Member & President of the House of Commons _______________ Named to the post of HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund II, for his service as Lord-Justiciar of Haense and Haeseni Member & President of the House of Commons. Following his appointment, Sir Konstantin went on to serve as the longest-reigning Lord Palatine of Haense to date. Sir Konstantin first began his career in law, having studied privately in the New Reza library after coming to live in the city with his father Selrik once he had reached adolescence. Sir Konstantin discovered an affinity for legal form and arguments, and first founded Wick Solicitors by himself before teaming with Sir Lauritz Christiansen to form Christiansen-Wick Solicitors, which dominated the Imperial legal scene as the best private law firm in the Empire for many years after Sir Konstantin's debut in the case of Crown v. Corbish. For his work in law, he accepted a role in the Aulic Council under Koeng Sigismund II as Lord Justiciar while also serving three terms in the House of Commons as a member of the Josephite Party, and was even elected to sit as President of the House of Commons during his second term. Following the death of Koeng Sigismund II in 329ES following the outbreak of the Begrudged Alliance and all-time-high tensions with the Holy Orenian Empire, Sir Konstantin was elected by the Aulic Council to reign as Lord-Regent until Sigismund's son, Josef, came of age. During his Regency, Sir Konstantin navigated through the political turmoil following the Begrudged Alliance, published the Aulic Edict and revived Haeseni knighthood through the Edict of Knightly Orders in 343ES. Once Koeng Josef I was coronated, Sir Konstantin assumed the role as Lord Palatine under the young Koeng and went on to achieve the longest tenure of any Haeseni Palatine to date, marking his reign with projects such as the Golden Crow Banking Bill. @Aidoro SIR DEMETRIUS RUTHERN KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick, for his service in protecting Haense and the royal family. Dubbed Ser Demetrius ‘The Young’ and dubbed into the pre-reformation Order of the Crow under Koeng Sigismund II, he was the youngest knight to ever be dubbed at just fourteen in recognition of his martial prowess. During the Scyfling Invasion, Ser Demetrius served admirably in the Kingdom’s defense, assigned to protect Koeng Sigismund II, and played a notable role in the defense of Metterden during the several Scyfling assaults on the keep in their attempts to establish a foothold in western Haense. During the Second Siege of Metterden, Ser Demetrius witnessed his father’s death in a duel against one of the invaders, and after the battle led a mission to recapture the body. He additionally served in the Royal Duma as both Tribune, Alderman and Grand Maer. Ser Demetrius met his demise during the evacuation of Arcas while defending the former Prinzenas Nataliya Reza from the raining meteorites. @ItsMrCannibal SIR RUBEN RUTHERN / BARCLAY KML Hauchpalatsaar Grand Lord _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick, for his leal and excellent service as Grand Lord in maintaining the Royal Courts of Hanseti-Ruska and service to the Royal House of Barbanov. Following his knighthood, Sir Ruben further proved his merit by becoming a Knight of the Marian Retinue in service to the Crown. Sir Ruben Barclay (born Ruthern) began his career in Haense as a humble palace butler, but quickly endeared himself to both the Royal House and the Haeseni people through his immaculate dedication to his job and his affection towards the Royal Family, with whom he formed close ties with. He rose to the position of Grand Lord, succeeding Dame Sofiya Baruch, and excelled in maintaining a roster of well-trained and active palace servants. His dedication to the Royal Family was so strong that he undertook combat lessons from Ser Ivan the Red Bull and, following several years of vigorous training, was dubbed a Marian Knight, charged with protecting the Royal Family, and fittingly assumed the moniker 'the Butler'. Following the migration to Almaris, Sir Ruben retired as a respect Knigth, servant, and friend to many. @Buck SIR BUCK DIRTGRUB KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick, for his service as a veritable mascot of the Haeseni Royal Army during the Scyfling Invasion and for his contributions to Army and national morale during this bleak period. During the Scyfling War, Sir Buck was an active participant in most conflicts and was the first Haeseni soldier to sustain an injury when he was caught in a barrage of arrows while the Haeseni Royal Army retreated from Camp Rock. Thereafter, Sir Buck was commemorated as a mascot for the Haeseni Royal Army and a key source of morale for the common soldier during the harshest moments of the brutal war. In recognition of such, Koeng Sigismund II saw fit to name him to the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily, and, following the Koeng’s death, Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick carried out the knighting. @Disheartened DAME TATYANA RUTHERN KML Hauchmaer i Nau Reza | Hauchmedzsa Grand Maer of New Reza | Surgeon-General _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick, for her esteemed political career serving as Grand Maer of New Reza for multiple terms and for her tenure as Surgeon-General of the Royal Haense Clinic. Tatyana Ruthern distinguished herself as one of the most productive Grand Maer’s of New Reza and was chiefly responsible for the city’s expansion during the population boom experienced during the reign of Koeng Sigismund II. In tandem with her political tenure, Dame Tatyana proved herself as a famed medic and Surgeon-General overseeing the New Reza Clinic, and was personally responsible for treating many of the injuries sustained by soldiers during the Scyfling War. @UnBaed DAME ALEXANDRIA BARBANOV-BIHAR KML II Hauchkura | I Hauchdragus 2nd Royal Curator | 1st Hauchdragus _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick, for her significant contributions to Haeseni literature, through texts on herbs, history, culture, cuisine and medicine, for her studies of Scyfling culture during the Scyfling Invasion and for her artwork. Born in 303ES, Prinzenas Alexandria was one of the three triplet daughters of Koeng Andrik IV, the other two being Amelya Valeriya and Analiesa Reza. Alexandria destined herself to be a scholar from a young age owing to her infatuation with reading and studying, and, much like her siblings, held disdain for traditional Haeseni politics and government. She played a notable role in the Scyfling War in a diplomatic capacity, advising against Koeng Sigismund’s II intent to annihilate the invaders, and was responsible for the Scyfling Warlord - Segn - defecting to Haense, bringing with him key information. Prinzenas Alexandria later assumed the role as Royal Curator on the Aulic Council, wherein she oversaw educational and cultural efforts within the Kingdom by coordinating the efforts of the Royal Scribes and serving as the Hauchdragus of the Royal Academy of Saint Catherine, though she resigned after a few years in order to focus on her personal publications, which are what truly earned her her fame, as the Prinzenas published many works on all aspects of Haeseni culture, from cuisine, to medicine, to games. She is retired today, privately studying Scyfling culture. 352ES III CHAPTER No citizens were knighted into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily for some time following the Second Ceremony of the Lily. In 343ES, Lord-Regent Konstantin Wick published the Edict of Knightly Orders restoring the Kongzem’s militant Knights through the revival of the Order of the Crow and the Marian Retinue. That Edict formally changed the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily to be a mostly civilian honorific, with military contributions recognized through medals and knighthood in the Order of the Crow and Marian Retinue. Koeng Josef I, succeeding Koeng Sigismund II following the Regency of Konstantin Wick, named new Knights to the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily for the first time since 327ES during a sitting of the Royal Court in 352ES, though a Third Edict of Elevation was not formally published and the Third Ceremony of the Lily was incorporated into that sitting of the Royal Court. @AndrewTech DAME CELESTINE HERBERT HKML Valtaoffiez i ve Northern Geographic Society President of the Northern Geographic Society _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for her presidency of the Northern Geographical Society and the countless contributions made to Haeseni literature and history through the historical works, studies, research, expeditions and events hosted by the Society. Celestine Elizabeth Herbert, born in 294ES, had a deep love for adventure, history, and culture, which led her to establish the famed Northern Geographic Society. This Haeseni cultural institution endeavoured to document and discover both the histories of humanity and the wider world, leading to a number of remarkable expeditions including research on Athera and the Outer Nether, alongside many historical exhibitions, both foreign and domestic. For the success of the Society, Dame Celestine was dubbed as a Knight of the Lily by Koeng Josef I in 353ES. @altiar1011 DAME TARATHIEL ASUL'ONN KML Dumasekra-Aldraczsen Member of the Duma (Alderwoman) _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for her service to the Kongzem as an elected officer of the Royal Duma from 351ES-354ES, and her legislative merit proven therein. Born in 253ES, Tarathiel is a long-lived Wood Elf who came to Haense during the reign of Koeng Josef I, and began her works in the Kongzem as a tavernkeep who proved her initial merit in turning the tavern into a popular social hub. She later ran for election for the Royal Duma, and successfully won a seat as Tribune. Thereafter, she proved herself through participation in the Duma, both through legislation and debate, and her efforts were recognized through induction into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. @repl1ca SIR ALFRED BARCLAY KML I Paztraek Jorenus | XXIX Haucepiskiop Jorenus | Dumasekra-Maer | Hauchhaurulyir 1st Patriarch Jorenus | 29th Archbishop Jorenus | Member of the Duma (Maer) | Grand Librarian _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for his service as a Member of the Royal Duma as Grand Maer of New Reza, his clerical service as Archbishop of Jorenus and Patriarch Jorenus, and for his literary work as Grand Librarian and Scribe. Born in 305ES, Sir Alfred was the only son of Sir Osvald Barclay and, like most of his kin, originated from a military background and enlisted in the Haeseni Royal Army as a young adult. After serving throughout the Scyfling War, Sir Alfred retired to instead pursue a career as a Chaplain within the Canonist Church. Additionally, he involved himself in politics and was elected as Grand Maer of New Reza in 334ES and represented the city's people on the Royal Duma. During his tensure as Maer, Sir Alfred hosted festivities such as the Waldofest and the Haeseni Spleef Tournament. He later retired from politics after taking his vow as a clergyman, and was appointed as Bishop of Henrikev in 355ES, and later the Patriarch of Jorenus in 357ES. During his time as Patriarch, Sir Alfred published many theological papers, especially as the religious situation turned volatile following the Pontifical enthronement of Owyn III. In 357ES, he was elevated to the status of Cardinal, and presided over the historic Diet of Karosgrad where Owyn III was forcibly dethroned. @Dogged SIR FREDRICK LUDOVAR KML I Komit van Otistadt | Meystna i Janskev 1st Count of Otistadt | Master of Johnstown _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for commitment to the Kongzem during the Sutica War and the tumultuous time following Haeseni independence. Born in 301 ES as the eldest son of Aleksandr Ludovar, 4th Baron of Rostig-Otistadt, and Lady Sofiya Baruch in New Reza, Fredrick Ludovar became the patriarch of Ludovar following his father’s death. Fredrick Ludovar formed and led the Ludovar Company, which most notably partook in the Sutican War and aided to bring relevance back to the House of Ludovar following the lackluster reign of Fredrick’s father. As such, Fredrick was granted the County of Otistadt in 330 ES as well as dominion over the hamlet known as Johnstown and an Imperial knighthood. Following Haeseni independence from the Orenian Empire, Count Ludovar chose to remain a vassal of the Kongzem. Koeng Josef I inducted Frederick Ludovar into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Kossar. 356ES IV CHAPTER In a sitting of the Royal Court in 356ES, Koeng Josef I once again called upon a select few meritorious individuals to kneel and be knighted into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. The sitting of the Royal Court itself constituted the formal Fourth Ceremony of the Lily, and no official Fourth Edict of Elevation was officially published. @Sander SIR KARL AMADOR HKML Hauchmaer i Nau Reza & Karosgrad | Sekra i ve Haus i Commenz Grand Maer of New Reza & Karosgrad | Member of the House of Commons _______________ Knighted posthumously as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for his service as a Haeseni politican and two-term Maer. Born in 287ES, Karl Amador began his political career at the tender age of twenty, with his first campaign for the Imperial Senate against the Haeseni political behemoth Konrad Stafyr. Despite Sir Karl’s defeat, he had begun to make a name for himself and thereafter turned his attention to domestic politics, serving as a productive Member of the Royal Duma for years. He revisited his grand political ambitions by running for the House of Commons following the abolition of the Senate, and successfully won four consecutive terms with the Everardine Party, with many regarding him as the party’s saving grace when it fell into decline. When the Kongzem achieved independence, Sir Karl won another two elections - this time as Grand Maer, serving the poetic terms of the last Maer of New Reza and the first Maer of Karosgrad. Though he died shortly after his last term of natural causes, Koeng Josef I posthumously conferred upon him the title of Hauchkossar for his service. @Gusano SIR LAURITZ CHRISTIANSEN HKML IV Vasriciar | Sekra & Valtaoffiez i ve Senat | Sekra i ve Haus i Commenz 4th Lord Jusiticar | Member & President of the Senate | Member of the House of Commons _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for his service as Lord-Justiciar of Hanseti-Ruska and Haeseni politician. Born in 286ES, Sir Lauritz began his life in the Imperial City of Helena and distinguished his youth through service as an Imperial Senator and even President of the Senate. When the Senate was abolished in favour of the House of Commons, Sir Lauritz instead became a private lawyer until he later accepted a nomination to sit as a Judge on the Imperial Circuit Court, where he notably presided over the first (of many) Crown v. Corbish cases, and went on to found Christiansen-Wick Solicitors with Sir Konstantin Wick, cementing the duo as the best private lawyers in the Empire for decades. Lauritz resumed his political service and won a seat in the House of Commons once independent seats were allowed. Sir Lauritz had many personal ties to Haense, but he began to tie himself more firmly to the Kongzem when he participated in the Scyfling War, during which he lost an eye. Following the War, Sir Lauritz elected to immigrate to Haense permanently, and later accepted the role of the first Lord Justiciar of Haense following the Aulic Edict, and played an instrumental role in shaping the Haeseni legal system post-independence. For this, he was dubbed a Knight of the Lily by Koeng Josef I. @Borin SIR VIKTOR LORENZ BARCLAY HKML Dumasekra-Aldylvevar Member of the Duma (Alderman) _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Josef I, for his multiple and productive tenures as an elected officer of the Royal Duma and actively shaping the bills produced by the legislature therein. Viktor Lorenz Barclay was born in 298ES to the venerable Archbishop Anton Barclay, and earned his fame predominantly through the Duma. First elected in 340ES, he served until 354ES after winning four consecutive terms. He contributed to most legislation that passed through the body, fuelling debate and discussion, and published eight of his own bills and co-sponsored many others. Viktor also served in the Haeseni Royal Army, aiding the Haeseni side in the Rubern War and the Inferi War. Following his final tenure as Alderman, he retired from public life and now lives a quiet life of prayer in Reinmar. 358ES V CHAPTER When Koeng Josef I fell critically ill in 358ES, the title of Prinz-Regent befell his eldest son - Heinrik Karl - who had just reached the age of majority at the time. In declaring his Regency - which would be strikingly brief, as the Koeng perished mere weeks later - Prinz-Regent Heinrik Karl summoned a sitting of the Royal Court to disclose the Koeng's failing health. Just prior to Court, a Fifth Edict of Elevation was published to commemorate the Fifth Ceremony of the Lily during the Royal Court. Though only one individual was named on the Edict, the Prinz-Regent saw fit to bestow a second knighthood after Lord Marshal Manfred Barclay announced his retirement during the Court. The Fifth Ceremony of the Lily saw the elevation of the second ever Valtakossar to the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. @Coolcod77 SIR MANFRED BARCLAY VKML II Herzen van Reinmar | XXXI Kengzhetmann 2nd Duke of Reinmar | 31st Lord Marshal _______________ Knighted as VALTAKOSSAR by Prinz-Regent Heinrik Karl, for his remarkable service as Lord Marshal of the Haeseni Royal Army and continuing the legacy of Sir Erwin Barclay for over twenty years in consistently hosting a large roster of highly competent, well-drilled and honourable soldiers dedicated to the Kongzem’s defence. Manfred Barclay, dubbed the ‘Ashen Fox’, was born to his father Erwin Barclay in 305ES. Like his father, whose career he would mimic, he enlisted in the Haeseni Royal Army at a young age and began to climb in the ranks, which culminated in his appointment as Lord Marshal following Sir Erwin’s retirement after the Scyfling War. Sir Manfred saw action in numerous conflicts, most notably the Scyfling War and the Begrudged Alliance, and upon reaching the rank of Lord Marshal successfully transitioned the Haeseni Royal Army into a fully autonomous force following Haeseni independence, and most notably led Haeseni forces during the Inferi Invasion. The Haeseni Royal Army was elevated to new heights under his leadership, built on the unshaking foundations of his father, with the levels of active peace-time military activity and contributions to Haeseni security and society becoming more numerous than ever before. Sir Manfred eventually resigned from the Office of the Marshal, and was dubbed the Medal of the Ashen Fox, named so for his leadership in the fiery Inferi Invasion, continuing his House’s tradition of specialist medals afforded to successful Marshals, with Sir Erwin having being awarded the Medal of the Northern Fox. Sir Manfred's dubbing as Valtakossar marks the second-ever person to recieve the honour (to date). Sir Manfred was succeeded by his son Friedrich just as he had succeeded his father Sir Erwin. Afterwards, Sir Manfred retired from public life and abdicated his title of Duke, and took to tending cabbages in the Duchy of Reinmar. @AnonymousAlexa DAME ALEKSANDRA LUDOVAR KML Kastell i Siezdta Kastellan of Settlement _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Prinz-Regent Heinrik Karl, for her successful service as Kastellan of Settlement, through which she brought many new settlers to Karosgrad and contributed significantly to the city’s population boom from around 350ES onwards. Born in Johnstown in 328ES, Aleksandra was educated befitting her noble lineage and trained in combat, as typical for those born in the militant House of Ludovar. Her father, Stefan Ludovar, was exiled following the trial of the Crown v. Ludovar during her youth, which fuelled the young Aleksandra’s determination to bring honour to her name and line. She began by enlisting in the Haeseni Royal Army and served in numerous conflicts, most notably the Inferi Invasion, and afterwards embarked on an expedition across Arcas. She returned to Haense just in time for the migration to Almaris, prompted by the meteor storm that befell the land. Dame Aleksandra continued her military service in Karosgrad, but earned her success through her work as Kastellan of Settlement after she was appointed to the office by Lady-Seneschal Ingrid Barclay. During her service, she proved extremely competent at bringing settlers to Haense from all across the land and, furthermore, ensured they settled comfortably in the Kongzem, which contributed enormously to the population boom happening at that time, and her efforts were thus acknowledged through her dubbing as a Knight of the Lily. 364ES VI CHAPTER As Koeng Heinrik II assumed the throne proper, for a time admissions into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily fell into obscurity. After a period of six years, new Knights of the Lily were once again inducted on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Kongzem's independence from the Holy Orenian Empire. Though the Sixth Ceremony was originally intended to commemorate those who had been instrumental to the liberation of Haense, this intent never came to fruition. Instead, the Ceremony of 364ES exclusively honoured those who had made notable contributions in the Royal Duma. The Sixth Ceremony of the Lily saw the dubbing of two new Knights of the Lily, both at the rank of Kossar. @Gusano SIR FRANZ BARBAOV-BIHAR KML Hauchmaer i Karosgrad Grand Maer of Karosgrad _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, for his extensive and successful service as Grand Maer of Karosgrad through which he pursued the betterment of the capital and legislated vigorously in the Royal Duma. Throughout a career as Grand Maer that spanned six consecutive terms during which all failed to defeat him in elections, Prinz Franz distinguished himself as one the most industrious legislators of the Royal Duma to grace the Kongzem to date. Having sat on the legislature for a period of nearly twenty-five years, Prinz Franz produced over twenty-five assented bills penned by his own hand and co-sponsored a further half-dozen, and he was particularly renowned for his productive partnership with Sir Konrad Lauritsen KML, with notalbe works including the Marriage Law Revision Act, the Guilds Bills, and the series of Succession Bills. Prinz Franz's contributions to the Kongzem were not limited to his legislation, though that was his primary merits. In addition to his work on the Royal Duma, he served as a legal advisor to his nephew Koeng Heinrik II on a publications such as the Winter & Summer Edict, and he earned a military knighthood in the Order of the Crow after he slew a pack of Cave Leeches, for which he was dubbed 'the Oracle'. @Emenzi SIR KONRAD LAURITSEN KML Dumasekra-Aldylvevar Member of the Duma (Alderman) _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, for his service in the Royal Duma as an elected Alderman for several consecutive terms. During his time as an elected representative of the common folk of Hanseti-Ruska, Sir Konrad Lauritsen famously worked alongside his close friend Prinz Franz Barbanov-Bihar to produce a titanic number of bills, the likes of which the history of the legislature has never seen before. Though Sir Konrad primarily worked as a co-sponsor on the bills of Prinz Franz, with a total of eleven sponsorships throughout the last two decades, he did write three bills of his own which were sponsored by his close ally. 379ES VII CHAPTER Though Koeng Heinrik II held frequent courts throughout his early reign, the Seventh Ceremony of the Lily did not occur until fifteen years after the Sixth. At the Royal Court of 379ES, the Lord Marshal and High Seneschal of the Kongzem - whom were husband and wife - officially retired from their posts after decades of service, and dubbed as Knights of the Lily in recognition of their devotion to the realm. The Seventh Ceremony solidified the tradition of inducting Aulic Councillors into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily for exemplary service, and no other Haeseni citizens were dubbed as Knights of the Lily at the time. @ColdestPepsi SIR FRIEDRICH BARCLAY KML III Herzen van Reinmar | XXXII Kengzhetmann 3rd Duke of Reinmar | 32nd Lord Marshal _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, for his service to the Kongzem in protecting her lands and maintaining her soldiers as the 32nd Lord Marshal of the Haeseni Royal Army. In continuing the legacies of his forefathers and predessecors - Wilheim Barclay, Erwin Barclay, and Manfred Barclay - Sir Friedrich succeeded his father Manfred to become Marshal after his own years of service as an armsman and officer in the Army. From thereon, Sir Friedrich earned the moniker of the Iron Fox - with his grandfather having been the Arctic Fox, and his father the Ashen - for the trials and turmoils faced during his tenure. Sir Friedrich oversaw the defense of Karosgrad during the Red Diet in which the Pontiff Owyn III was deposed and many of his supporting clergymen killed and arrested on the orders of Koeng Heinrik II, who carried out the deposition with the support of the Archchancellor of the Holy Orenian Empire. However, he is best known for leading the Haeseni Royal Army in the Kongzem's war against the Rimetrolls of the north, who began to raid Haense after the destruction of their farm. Despite the child-like stupidity of the Rimetrolls, they were physically devastating enemies with their size, strength, and frost-breath, and their raiding of Haeseni farmsteads triggered mass famines and food shortages that drove floods of refugees to the capital. Despite the civil turmoil that gripped the Kongzem throughout the war, Sir Friedrich remained steadfast in stemming the tide of Rimetroll raiders and greatly reducing their population to limit their threat. Famously, he defended Karosgrad from the Great Raid, disarmed a viscous peasant riot at the gates of Karosgrad, and drove the Rimetrolls out of the ruins of Krusev. It was these deeds - which would have broken a man of lesser will - that earned him the Iron Fox moniker. He retired at the same sitting of the Royal Court which awarded him his knighthood. @MissToni DAME INGRID BARCLAY KML III Tsenezal 3rd High Seneschal _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, in commemoration for her service to Kongzem as High Seneschal. In succeeding her predessecor - Firr Mio Mackensen - Dame Ingrid worked closely with the-then Lord Treasurer, Ser Brandt Barclay, to greatly improve record-keeping, finances, and housing. For the first time in the Office's inception, detailed ledgers of sales and finances were kept at all times to document each element of Karosgrad's admistration, an able host of stewards saw to the efficent distribution of property within the city, and she was famously harsh against those who tried to flaunt city regulations, such as those who tried to steal furinuture from houses. 384ES VIII CHAPTER Koeng Heinrik II, whether to place more importance back on the Order or because of the circumstances surrounding Sir Igor Kort’s death, inducted two members into a new chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily only five years after the last chapter. At the Royal Court of 384ES, Koeng Heinrik II maintained his tradition of Aulic Councillors being inducted into the Order upon death or retirement. However, this chapter proved to be somewhat controversial as the Lord Speaker Igor Kort was impeached twice as Speaker and was rather inducted into the Order because of his sacrifice. The Eighth Ceremony also saw the first architect inducted into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. The Ceremony of 384 ES saw the dubbing of two new Knights of the Lily, both at the rank of Kossar, as well as the promotion of Sir Erwin Barclay HKML of the First Chapter to the rank of Valtakossar. @erictafoya SIR IGOR KORT KML X Herzen i ve Duma 10th Speaker of the Duma _______________ Knighted posthumously as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as Lord Speaker and for protecting the Royal family, culminating in his own death. Born as a bastard to Lord Nikolaus Kortrevich and a woman of the commoner class in 335 E nS, Igor Kort grew up as a black sheep amongst his father’s family for a large portion of his life. Later in his life, after having served as Tribune and Lord Handler of His Majesty’s Royal Duma, Igor was offered the chance to be legitimised to which he refused. A controversial choice to be anointed as a Kossar of The Order of Queen Maya and the Lily by Koeng Heinrik II because of his impeachment twice as Lord Speaker by His Majesty’s Royal Duma, both times being allowed to retain his position by the virtue of His Majesty. The primary cause for these votes of no confidence were mainly pertaining to the controversial ‘Winter Edict of 373 E.S’ which did not appear before the Royal Duma and invested the Lord Speaker with more power over the voting and election process, most controversially being given the ability to decide on a tied vote which raised issues of the Lord Speaker’s ability to remain unbiased. Despite his contentious tenure as Lord Speaker, Sir Igor Kort’s status as a Kossar within the order has primarily been attributed to the manner of his death. Notably Igor Kort protected his former student, Grand Prinzenas Petra Emma, when an assailant intent on harming the Royal family fired two crossbow bolts into his back, wounds which would later cause his death on the same day in the Hospital of Saint Amyas. Igor Kort was awarded the title of Kossar posthumously. @thevilehobo SIR ELLISAR AEVARIS KML Ificna i ve Sarnuvsvot i Svankt Karl Officer of the Brotherhood of Saint Karl _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Heinrik II, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as an architect of great skill and many notable Haeseni buildings. Only the second elf to be inducted into the Order, Ellisar Aevaris was considered a decent Lieutenant however he is largely remembered for his commitment to his craft, architecture. Koeng Heinrik II was so pleased with his numerous works, chief among them the Comital keep in Jerovitz, the Viscomital keep of Aurveldt, Trelkastriet, as well as the temporary buildings utilised by the Brotherhood of Saint Karl during the Attenlund Expedition and the defences placed around Reinmar and the Attenlund during the Rimeveld Troll Conflict and the Nachezar War, that he was dubbed a Kossar of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily upon his retirement from public life. 398ES IX CHAPTER Eight years following the ascension of Koeng Sigismund III to the throne following his father’s abdication, and fourteen years after the last admissions to the Order, the largest number of additions to the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily were made. The first chapter formed in the reign of Koeng Sigismund III was created after a large number of Aulic Council retirements. Koeng Sigismund III maintained the precedent set by his father, Koeng Heinrik II, of inducting notable Aulic Councillors into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily. Every Knight of the Lily honoured in the Ceremony of 398 ES was a former member of the Aulic Council and saw the dubbing of four new Knights of the Lily, two at the rank of Kossar and two at the rank of Hauchkossar, as well as the promotion of Sir Viktor Kortrevich KML from the First Chapter to the rank of Valtakossar. @Drew2_dude SIR ANDRIK BARUCH KML VII SZARA 7th Aulic Envoy _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as Aulic Envoy. Son of Lord Josef Baruch, the third son of Duke Sigmar Baruch, Andrik was not close to the line of succession but shared in his family’s penchant for good counsel, diplomacy and communication. Andrik joined the Office of the Envoy, becoming ambassador to the Kingdom of Norland. It was here that Andrik showed his worth by maintaining and expanding the friendship between the two nations which led to the signing of the Iron Accord, a defensive treaty between the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Kingdom of Norland and the Grand Kingdom of Urguan which is still in effect. Lord Andrik Baruch oversaw this and diplomacy with almost every other nation on the continent of Almaris upon his appointment as the seventh Aulic Envoy in 358 ES by Prinz-Regent Heinrik Karl, later Koeng Heinrik II, which led to numerous defensive and trade pacts which helped preserve a long period of peace within the Kingdom. Andrik Baruch also boasts the longest tenure of any Aulic Envoy at 34 years. @Mio SIR OTTO MOROVAR KML II Bossir van Ghaestenwald | Hauchmaer i Karosgrad | VII ARANYIAZ 2nd Baron of Ghaestenwald | Grand Maer of Karosgrad | 7th Royal Treasurer _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as Grand Maer of Karosgrad as well as his tenure as Royal Treasurer following a crash in the Haeseni economy. Born the eldest son of Baron Franz Morovar KML in 362 ES, Otto Morovar followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming Grand Maer of Karosgrad before he became the Baron of Ghaestenwald himself. In his two terms as Maer, Lord Otto passed two Mayoral Edicts. The first of these, known as the Capital Cleanup Initiative, was to remove the pests that had thrived during the times of war as well as the leftover defences scattered across the City from the Rimeveld Troll Conflict. This encouraged trade and merchants to once more flock to the City. Later, his second Edict was released which outlined plans for an eastern gate to be added to the City for better travel between Karosgrad and vassals’ lands. In his Maership, Otto Morovar also began the construction of the hippodrome. After his successful tenure as Grand Maer, Otto Morovar was appointed the seventh Royal Treasurer of Hanseti-Ruska by Koeng Heinrik II in 384 ES. The Kingdom’s accounts were left in an abysmal state after the poor communication and inactivity of his predecessor as well as the crisis caused by shortages of food during the Rimeveld Troll Conflict and the cost of subsequent, frequent wars. Otto Morovar played an important role in reinvigorating trade and food provisions in the city, helping to bolster the economy once more. He was affirmed by His Majesty’s Royal Duma in the sitting of 394 ES to be inducted into the ninth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Kossar. @mkLouis SIR AILRED RUTHERN HKML VII Herzen van Vidaus | XXXIII Kengzhetmann 7th Duke of Vidaus | 33rd Lord Marshal _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as Lord Marshal and Field Marshal following his retirement. Born the eldest child of Count Maric Ruthern, the Lord Palatine, and Dame Anabela of Fonsi, Ailred grew up primarily in the Royal Capital of Karosgrad. As a child his natural skill with a sword was quickly noticed and a life in the military heavily encouraged, joining the Haeseni Royal Army as soon as possible. Ailred Ruthern was appointed Lord Marshal in 378 ES by Koeng Heinrik II following the retirement of his predecessor and his own successful tenure as Sergeant during the latter part of the Attelund Expedition. His first act was to reform the Haeseni Royal Army into the 3rd Order of the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. The number of new recruits and the competency and fighting prowess of soldiers was noted to increase during Ailred’s tenure as Marshal as well as being a gifted strategist. Following his twenty year long time in office, Ailred retired during the Koeng’s Court of 398 ES with the Koeng Sigismund III’s consent. At the beginning of Haeseni involvement in the Urguani-Orenian War, Ailred was appointed Field Marshal and instructed to command the Tripartite troops during the Siege of Southbridge, which was an overwhelming Tripartite victory. Despite the decisive win, Ailred Ruthern was killed by a stray crossbow bolt at the end of the Siege. He was affirmed by His Majesty’s Royal Duma in the sitting of 398 ES to be inducted into the ninth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Hauchkossar. @Fionn__TWG SIR FIONN CASTAWAY HKML V Tsenezal 5th High Seneschal _______________ Knighted as HAUCHKOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as High Seneschal following a crash in the Haeseni economy. Fionn Castaway was appointed High Seneschal in 382 ES by Koeng Heinrik II following the impeachment of his lacklustre and inactive predecessor. Fionn inherited a dilapidated and inaccurate set of ledgers and leases which coincided with a severe economic crisis in Haense. Despite the difficulties he had come to inherit, Fionn was overwhelmingly successful at correcting the inaccuracies of the ledgers as well as revitalising the Karosgrad housing market. It was due to Fionn Castaway’s diligence, and his work alongside Royal Treasurer Otto Morovar, that the two were able to not only stabilise the economy but exceed expectations and boost it as well to the best state it had been since arriving on Almaris. Fionn Castaway soon retired afterwards with the most house sales of any Seneschal in modern Haeseni history. He was affirmed by His Majesty’s Royal Duma in the sitting of 394 ES to be inducted into the ninth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Hauchkossar. 419ES X CHAPTER (credits to @___siren___ for the art) Twenty-one years following the last chapter, Koeng Sigismund III formed the tenth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily to induct two new members into the order. The second chapter formed in the reign of Koeng Sigismund III was created after a large gap of time due to the Sinners’ War dominating the majority of his time. Following the decisive victory over the Orenians at Easthub, in what is now dubbed the ‘Folly of Philip’, Koeng Sigismund chose to induct two citizens into the Order for services rendered during the conflict, both militarily and culturally. @Frymark SIR JOHANN BARCLAY KML V Herzen van Reinmar | XXXIV Kengzhetmann 5th Duke of Reinmar | 34th Lord Marshal _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, in commemoration for his service to the Kongzem as Lord Marshal throughout the duration of the Sinners’ War. Born the eldest son of Erich Barclay, Duke of Reinmar in 377 ES, Johann Barclay inherited the Duchy in 382 ES at the age of five following the disastrous tenure of his father who had upset a number of high ranking nobles within the Kongzem. This led to the creation of the Ducal Union that would ultimately pressure Koeng Heinrik II into demoting the Barclay title down to a County whilst Johann was a child. Johann Barclay was appointed Lord Marshal in 398 ES by Koeng Sigismund III following the retirement of his predecessor and his time as a Sergeant in the Brotherhood. Johann Barclay’s time as Marshal is primarily remembered due to his tenure coinciding with the start of the Sinners’ War, which began in 402 ES. Johann Barclay served as Lord Marshal throughout the entirety of the war, where the Haeseni forces comprised the largest number of soldiers of any Tripartite member. Through his work as the Lord Marshal and his reinvigoration of Barclay political influence within the Kongzem paired with displays of Barclay wealth and a sense of community that had felt to be lacking in the previous generation of the House, Koeng Sigismund returned the Duchy of Reinmar in 403 ES. Following the defeat of the Orenian forces at Easthub, Koeng Sigismund III inducted Johann Barclay into the tenth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Kossar. @___siren___ DAME SOFIYA RUTHERN KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, for extensive and masterful works in Haeseni art. Born the middle child of Duke Ailred Ruthern and Duchess Fenika in 384 ES, Sofiya was granted the privileges of such a high birth with an extensive education and access to trained tutors in all aspects. Considered a young prodigy and showing an aptitude for drawing, painting and the arts in general, Sofiya was encouraged to pursue her talents that ended up being the focal point of her life. Primarily remembered for her paintings, two of which are widely known and on public display oftenly. Her most well known works include the ‘House Ruthern Family Portrait, 395 ES’, that contained an unprecedented number of members amounting to sixteen Rutherns, and ‘The Siege of Southbridge’ in 408 ES, winner of the coveted Sword of Jungingen. Following her winning of the first place prize in the crown sponsored Sword of Jungingen competition, Koeng Sigismund III inducted Sofiya Ruthern into the tenth chapter of the Order of Queen Maya dnt the Lily at the rank of Kossar. 423ES XI CHAPTER Koeng Sigismund III formed the eleventh chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily to induct one new member into the order. This came after a remarkably short space of time between the tenth and eleventh chapter due to a prolonged absence of new chapters and members throughout the entirety of the Sinners’ War. Wishing to promote the original purpose of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily, King Sigismund III continued his promotion of the arts over militaristic feats by nominating an up-and-coming poet in Haeseni society. The eleventh chapter of the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily only inducted an unprecedented one member, the smallest chapter in the history of the Order. @tcs_tonsils_ SIR BORRIS KORTREVICH KML _______________ Knighted as KOSSAR by Koeng Sigismund III, for his contributions to Haeseni poetry. Born in 405 ES to the reclusive Lothar Kortrevich, the second son of Viscount Rickard of Krusev, and Lady Juliya Ludovar, Borris Kortrevich grew up relatively sheltered, only making his debut into Haeseni society during his adolescence. Borris quickly asserted himself as a gifted poet through his many works, most commonly contained in his widely circulated books ‘A Selection of Poetry from Borris Iver Kortrevich’ Volumes 1 through 11 as of 423 ES. Famously, Borris Kortrevich gained the public endorsement of the Koenas Emma of Jerovitz during the presentations of bachelors during the fourth Haeseni season, known as Lifstala, with his poem ‘Above the Rest’ and his later into the same season with his work ‘I Hate You’, which gathered a lot of attention due to the rumours of who the subject of it was. He was affirmed by His Majesty’s Royal Duma in the sitting of 422 ES to be inducted into the Order of Queen Maya and the Lily at the rank of Kossar. 17. Royal Academy of SAINT CHARLES VELSK | LEKONSK | LANSK Succeeding New Reza’s Royal Academy of Saint Catherine, the Royal Academy of Saint Charles shall be reformed under the direction of the headmaster (Naumariav: Hauchdragus). The Royal Academy of St. Charles assumes the essential duty of teaching the Haeseni people, of empowering them with knowledge of their history, their culture, and their values, of equipping them with the tools to succeed in professional careers - be they doctors, lawyers or Aulic Councillors - and to build a wiser, responsible society. The Academy's lessons are taught by masters (Naumariav: Dragus) of their respective fields, overseen by the Hauchdragus, who manages the Academy overall. As of the publishing of this missive, the current Dragus are: Hauchdragus of the Academy and Dragus of History, Viktor Kortrevich KML @Zanthuz Dragus of History, Irene Ruthern @Eryane Dragus of History, Celestine Herbert @AndrewTech Dragus of Law, Lauritz Christiansen HKML @Gusano Dragus of Law, Konstantin Wick HKML @Xarkly Dragus of Medicine, Renae Arvellon @HeftyDonut I MISSION STATEMENT "VE HAUSZ SERZT OE WJEIK KSAEJ VJEIK VE ZVAERS | THE MIND MUST BE AS SHARP AS THE SWORD." The Royal Academy of St. Charles strives to teach in ways that are both practical and engaging. All of the Academy's lessons, from introductory classes, to internships, to graduating exams, are guided by a need to make classes interesting, and keeping students driven and engaged. Thus, the Academy does not teach through monotonous lectures; instead, law is taught through mock trials and apprentices to the High Justiciar; medicine is thought through real-time medical scenarios and surgeries, and traineeship under the Hospital of Saint Amyas and HRA Field Medics; and history is taught through expeditions and internships to esteemed bodies such as the Northern Geographic Society. The Academy is also committed to a wider understand of the world and active research, espousing the core belief that knowledge begets progress. As a result, students may often avail of opportunities to travel across Almaris visiting other cities and nations in search of knowledge, or investigating ancient ruins and other anomalies in pursuit of a greater understanding of the world. A degree from the Academy signifies a mark of excellence in the relevant field, and equips students with adept knowledge in their chosen area, be it law, medicine, history, or something else; all of which are vastly useful skills. Students may complete a degree for their own interests, or may become a lawyer, doctor, historian or a Dragus themselves as a result. II MAIN CLASSES "VE ZVAERD PRESEJZES, DENN VE HAUS GZAER | THE SWORD PRESERVES, BUT THE MIND PROGRESSES." The Royal Academy of St. Charles offers three main classes, but the Academy is always open to those who wish to teach new classes of any subject. The Academy's core classes consist of: LAW: Aimed at teaching students Haeseni Law and how to advocate before the Aulic Court with lessons focused on mock trials, criminal investigation and advocacy MEDICINE: Aimed at teaching students how to treat injuries and illness as a field medic under a royal surgeon HISTORY: Aimed at teaching students of Haeseni history and culture and the history of the wider world. Based on staffing and interest, the Hauchdragus may add new main classes as time goes on. To teach a class of your own in any subject, contract the Hauchdragus to express interest. Main Classes: Law "VELSKIR JOEDENSVASR | READER OF LAW." Law classes at the Royal Academy of St. Charles aim to teach students how to investigate crime and argue before the Aulic Court. The Academy's law programme is taught mainly through the Crown Association of Jurists (Naumariav: Ve Krawn Asrandz i Jurovarez), which is helmed by the High Justiciar of the Aulic Council with the primary objectove of training students in the key aspects of law in Haense - criminal investigation, legal reform, and legal argument. Law Degree Structure Term One - Classes: In starting their student, law students are required to attend classes on the basics of law in Haense. These classes consist of lessons in criminal investigations and evidence gathering, knowing and interpreting the law, and how to argue before the Aulic Court. To progress, students must participate in five classes and have the approval of a Dragus of Law that they are confident in the student's ability to proceed. Term Two - Mentorship: After classes, students are assigned a Jurist from the Crown Assocation of Jurists who will mentor them. While the Jurist will take their student to any meetings, investigations or trials, the main focus of this second term is a mock trial between two students, both of whom will be couched by their mentoring Jurist. The case for the trial will be assigned by the High Justiciar, who will also preside over the trial as judge. Students are not required to win the mock trial to progress with their studies, but must demonstrate adept capability and what they have learned thus far. Term Three - Final Exam: To graduate as a trained jurist, students are required to participate in a grand trial presided over by the actual judges (Naumariav: Jovenaar) of the Aulic Court. This final examination shall consist of all the preparation and formalities of a real trial, and the student will need to apply their knowledge of investigation, interpretation and advocacy in order to pass, though again they need not necessarily win the case. The opposing lawyer for this grand trial will be a Jurist of Dragus of Law. Further details about the Crown Association of Jurists can be found here. Main Classes: Medicine "VELSKIR OZINAEMEYSTER | READER OF MEDICINE." Working closely with the Haeseni Royal Army and the Hospital of Saint Amyas, the Academy’s medicine programme aims to raise future medics, surgeons, herbalists and doctors. The Scyfling War and Inferi Invasion have highlighted a need to retain a host of qualified and skilled medics. Thus, the Royal Academy of St. Charles strives to mentor students in first aid, combat wounds, injuries, illness, herblore and surgery under the tutelage of the Surgeon-General and the Doctors of the Hospital of Saint Amyas. Medical Course Structure Term One - Classes: Medical students begin their study at the Academy by attending classes on the basics of medicine, in which they shall be taught on how to treat different types of injuries, how to make and find medicine and medical herbs, how to treat disease and basic surgery. To progress, students need to attend at least five classes and have the approval of the Dragus. Term Two - Internship: Following these five classes, students will then train as assistant medics in the Haeseni Royal Army, where they will be trained by Army Medics on treating battle wounds in an intense, combat scenario and attend any trainings and combat encounters. During this time, they will also assist the Surgeon-General with any hospital cases. To progress, students will be required to complete at least one lesson on combat injuries and active training on at least two combat or training scenarios. Term Three - Examination: To complete their studies, medical students will be tasked with performing a mock surgery under the supervision of the Surgeon-General which will require them to use all their knowledge of medicine, including supplying the correct medicine and navigating a number of side effects. If the Surgeon-General is satisfied with their performance, they will be allowed to graduate as a qualified Doctor. Main Classes: History "VELSKIR ZESGANMEYSTER | READER OF HISTORY." In the Academy’s history course, students will delve through the steeped history and culture of Haense, and the wider world. Students of history will be brought through the rich history of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, from its foundation until the present day, and understand the people and events that have shaped the Kingdom and its culture to become what it is today. The course will also work closely with the Northern Geographic Society to study world history, and include visiting and studying ruins across Almaris to unravel the continent’s history. History Course Structure Term One - Classes: Students of history will begin their study at the Academy by attending classes on the key periods of Haeseni history, encompassing each milestone era of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and the events and figures that defined it. To progress, students should attend a minimum of five classes and obtain the approval of the Dragus. Term Two - Internship: Once students have completed initial classes, they will complete an internship with the Northern Geographic Society in which they will assist the Society’s explorers, scholars and researchers in their work. To complete their internship, students will be required to visit a ruin on Almaris and complete a study and hypothesis on it. Term Three - Project: After their internship, students will be required to complete a historical study on a Haeseni figure or event to be published by the Academy as an official study. The Dragus shall gauge the quality of the study, and determine whether the student has passed or failed. Further details on the Northern Geographic Society can be found here. III ENROLLMENT "ATZVA SEZA HAURULN | PROGRESS BEGETS KNOWLEDGE." The Royal Academy of St. Charles, under the management of Hauchdragus Viktor Kortrevich, is now open for enrollment and employment. 19. A Roleplayer's Guide to HAENSE The coat-of-arms of the Kingdom of Haense. Welcome to Haense! This guide should serve as a ‘how-to’ for new players who just joined the server, or older players looking to try out a new experience. In this guide, you can learn the basics of what Haense is all about, what you can do there, and point you to some other useful resources. Bear in mind, if you’d rather learn from experience, then you absolutely don’t need to read this to roleplay in Haense. CONTENTS I. Conclusion I: INTRODUCTION Exerpt from the Dwarven map of Almaris done by Algoda ___________________________ What is Haense? The Kingdom of Haense - or, more formally, the Dual Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska - is one of the server’s long-standing human nations dating back over five years. It’s changed and evolved a lot since then, and today Haense fulfils the niche of more traditional medieval roleplay, with opportunities to play as a chivalrous Crow Knight, a noble Lord of Haense, and everything in between, with all this roleplay inspired against the backdrop of Haense’s harsh, northern climate. While Haense preserves these traditional medieval aspects as part of its niche, it offers a lot more than that, with things like a fleshed out electoral legislature in the form of the Royal Duma or the Haense Academy. Haense's Government: The King & The Aulic Council True to its name, the Kingdom of Haense is led by a King from the royal line of Barbanov, who have reigned over for Haense throughout its existence, and the succession is based off Agnatic-Primogeniture - which means the eldest son of the King inherits the throne (though a woman can inherit if there’s no male heirs!) While the King is the ultimate authority in this semi-constitutional monarchy, he’s advised and served by the Aulic Council - this is a group of veteran players who fulfill specific roles to make sure Haense continues growing strong. The Aulic Council consists of: ➣ The Lord/Lady Palatine: The Lord Palatine serves as the right-hand man of the King, and is the president of the Aulic Council and leader of the royal government. They’re responsible for ensuring the government is doing its job in maintaining the Kingdom. In the absence of the King, the Palatine also acts as Regent of the Kingdom. ➣ The Queen Consort: Wed to the King, the Queen-Consort oversees the Royal Palace and the Royal Court, while hosting events and festivals to celebrate Haense’s rich culture and history. ➣ The Lord/Lady Speaker: The Speaker manages the legislature of Haense - the Duma - which is made up of elected officials and Lords of Haense. While you can read more about the Duma further on in this guide, the Speaker’s job is to make sure it runs efficiently and fairly. ➣ The Lord/Lady Marshal: The Lord Marshal has the important job of leading the Haeseni Royal Army. They make sure that the Army has as many soldiers as possible, making sure these soldiers are fighting-fit, and leading these soldiers in any military scenarios. The Lord Marshal also makes sure the Army is engaged with frequent and fun roleplay. ➣ The Lord/Lady Justicar: The Lord Justiciar is, basically, the attorney-general of Haense. The Lord Justiciar investigates crimes in Haense, and prosecutes anyone charged with a crime in court. ➣ The High Seneschal: The High Seneschal manages the interior and infrastructure of Haense. That means selling houses, collecting taxes, and helping new players get settled into the Kingdom. ➣ The Lord/Lady Treasurer: The Lord Treasurer manages the Kingdom’s money and resources, making sure that the Kingdom has enough money in the bank and enough resources for any building projects. ➣ The Aulic Envoy: The Aulic Envoy is the diplomatic representative of Haense, who sets up and manages embassies and international communications with things like treaties. II: GETTING INVOLVED From the map's Northern Hub, follow this road through the ice spikes to reach Haense ___________________________ Where To Start? Joining any new community can be difficult, but all it takes a little perseverance to get yourself involved, and this guide aims to help you out as much as possible. Here's a few simple, essential steps. ➣ Discord: The biggest and most important step is to join our Discord by clicking here. From there, you can start getting involved with the community and our team will help you get started with whatever you need. If you're brand new to the server, you should ask for the 'New Player' role in the #role-request channel. Then, one of our @City Guides, a specific role in the Haense Discord to help settle new players, will give you a hand with any questions. ➣ Getting There: You can actually get to Haense by taking the northern warp from where you spawn at the Cloud Temple, which will take you to the Rimeveld - a snowy, mountainous region in the north of the map, characterised by huge mountains and ice spikes. If you follow the path out of the Rimeveld and take the road on your left, this will take you to the Haense city of Karosgrad - this path will be signposted. You can also follow the map above, or if you're lost, ask a @City Guide or anyone else in the Haense Discord for help. When you arrive at the red walls of the city, the gate will almost always be open to let you walk in, but if for some reason it's closed, it should open soon, or you can roleplay asking someone to open it (if you're new, you can emote in 'shout' with typing #s "[Test]", i.e. #s "Can someone open the gates?") ➣ Finding Roleplay: Haense is one of the most active groups on the server, so you can nearly always find people around the city for you to roleplay with. It's worth noting that Haense, like most of the sever, has a mostly American playerbase, so in early European hours it can sometimes be a little quiet. The most active times for the city are between 3PM to 9PM EST (which would translate to 8PM GMT to 2AM GMT, or if you're on the other side of the globe, 7AM AUS to 1PM AUS). Those are just the ideal times - there'll usually always be some kind of roleplay to be had. Remember, you can always ask a @City Guide in the Discord for help and advice. ➣ Getting a House: You may want to get yourself a house in Haense to help get involved or maybe just to store your items. Houses are sold by stewards, which you can ping in the #property-request channel in the Haense Discord with @Steward, or you can ask around in the city to find one. Houses don't come from free and cost in-game currency (mina), but you can buy one for as little as 20-40 mina (again if you're new, the best way to get money on the server is to do /vote). Houses are also taxed every week, but if you do /vote frequently this is very affordable. If you're a brand new player, we can even set you up in one of our purpose-build new player apartments for free while you find your footing in the community. A @Steward in the Haense Discord can help you with all of this. ➣ What's in the City?: The city is fairly big and be confusing on your first visit. This post by @GoodGuyMatt highlights all the key locations in the city for you to check out, which you can look at by clicking here. What Can I Do in Haense? In Haense, there's a bunch of different things you can get involved with, some of which even pay a salary, and help you get settled down in our community. Whether you want to be a frontline soldier in the HRA, a learned scholar of the Karosgrad Academy, a chivalrous Knight of the Crow, a lawyering and criminal-investigating Jurist, a tavern-goer or everything in between, there's plenty of opportunities. ➣ Haense Royal Army: As the main bulwark of defence for the kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Haense Royal army protects the borders realms from those who would seek to harm it - from monster to bandit. Starting off as an initiate in the army, you will learn the basics of the culture of Haense whilst making friends easily with the camaraderie inspired by your fellow class of initiates. You will also interact with a number of massive creatures and event-lines whilst exploring the world. Easily one of the main points of role-play for the kingdom, it is a great first spot for joining the kingdom. The easiest way to join is to ping the @Lord Marshal or @HRA Officer in the Haense Discord, or find them by roleplaying in-game. You can read more about the Haense Royal Army by clicking here. ➣ Royal Duma: The Royal Duma is the legislature of Haense that shapes and debates law like a real-world parliament. It's composed of the patriarchs of the Noble Houses, and a number of elected officials who win public elections. The Duma meets every week, and elections are held every month. You can ping the @Lady Speaker or @Duma in the Haense Discord for more information. You can also read more about the Duma by clicking here. ➣ Old Stout Crow Pub: One of the best places to roleplay in Haense is in the city tavern - the Old Stout Crow Pub. As a new player, getting a job in the Pub as a tavernkeep is actually a great first job to get involved and as a way to get to know people in the community while learning the ropes. The tavern is always the centre of roleplay and it's a particularly great spot for new players, so whether you want to work there or just pop in for some roleplay, you can ping a @Tavernkeep in the Haense Discord for more information. ➣ Queen's Council: If you fancy roleplaying as a servant or planning events - like balls or tourneys - then the Queen's Council might suit you. Run by (you guessed it) the Queen, this Council is crucial for creating events to promote roleplay in the city, while its other duties involves upkeep of the Royal Palace and serving the Royal Palace. If you're interested in getting involved here, you can give the @Queen or the @Grand Lady a ping in the Haense Discord. You can also check out this post for more details by clicking here. ➣ Northern Geographic Society: The NGS are a non-partisan source of cultural output situated within the Kingdom with their own flagship museum. The group often do research into geography, culture, history and a number of other fields. For those with a knack for writing or simply crave adventure, the NGS is certainly a place to join up with. Joining the NGS is also a great way to explore the wider world, as they investigate ruins and mysteries across the land - they've even visited the Nether! If you’re interested in joining, the easiest way is to approach the president Andrewtech/Dixie_Serenade or visit their musuem in the city. You can read more about the NGS by clicking here. ➣ Knighthood: Haense's Knights - the Order of the Crow - are your classic, chivalrous medieval Knights and offers amazing roleplay opportunities. If you manage to prove yourself worthy to join as a Squire and persevere to complete your Knightly Trials, you'll be dubbed as a Crow Knight, one of the most prestigious titles in the Kingdom. You can ping the @Knight Paramount in the Haense Discord with any questions. It takes a lot of work and effort to be a Knight, so you can check out this post for the full details by clicking here, and you can read about some of Haense's famous Knights by clicking here. ➣ Warding: If you’re interested in helping Haense as a civil servant, the ward initiatives are a perfect way to begin to learn the ropes. Often offered out to younger characters, it’s always a step up to figure out where you’re going in the government and a good base point to learn. If you’re looking to become a ward under a councillor, you can contact @Eryane in the Haense Discord, who organizes this initiative. You can read more about warding by clicking here. ➣ Academy: The Karosgrad Academy is a scholarly institution where you can learn to be a Haeseni lawyer, doctor or historian. By enrolling in its classes, you'll be presented with fun roleplay opportunities like competitive mock trials in law, interning as an Army combat medic, learning about Haense's half-a-decade of real-time history and explore ruins and mysteries across the continent. You can ping the @Hauchdragus in the Haense Discord with any questions. The Academy is currently under renovation, and will be re-launching soon. These are just a few handful of the sort of things you can get involved with in Haense. If you've got the drive, you can even look at starting your own groups within Haense! III HAENSE SOCIETY A render of Karosgrad, the capital city of Haense. ___________________________ Royalty and Nobility From the founding of Haense to the present day, the Kingdom of Haense has been ruled by a King from the family of the Barbanov. The position of King holds a special place in the community with the responsibility of the Kingdom's wellbeing overall. Alongside the King, there are numerous aristocratic families that hold similar importance to the history of Haense, oftentimes they also take on roles within the Kingdom’s governance such as Lord Marshals. Additionally, these Houses make up a part of the legislative body in the Duma. The noble houses of Haense are: ➣ The Royal House of Barbanov-Bihar ➣ The House of Barclay ➣ The House of Baruch ➣ The House of Vanir ➣ The House of Ruthern ➣ The House of Ludovar ➣ The House of Kortrevich ➣ The House of Amador ➣ The House of Vyronov You can view a full and formal roster of nobility and titles by clicking here. As a player may progress on their way through Haense, they may be invited to take on a role within one of these families such as the potential next heir to the house, or as a member of the house. Many of the houses have been around for a number of years, and it offers new opportunities for role-play such as to take part in aristocratic role-play. Additionally, working hard and being loyal to the kingdom may offer the chance for a new family to join the noble ranks. Gentry, Knights & Commoners It's important to note that nobility isn't really 'better' than non-nobility; they're just two different experiences of roleplay with different opportunities. There are plenty of opportunities outside of nobility to gain rank and prestige, and to help out the Haense community. After starting out, it's always good to have some goals towards what you want to do in Haense. Here are some potential options for non-nobles, on top of the 'Things To Do in Haense' options mentioned above (which are open to everybody)! ➣ Aldermen: The rank of Aldermen is an elected position within the Royal Duma. Voted in every four years (Four Weeks OOCly), they are tasked with bettering Haense through advising the King by creating new laws. To become an alderman, message the Lord Speaker to learn more. ➣ Merchants & Business Owners: Creating a business in Haense is a great way to start to make some money and start involving yourself in the kingdom. To set up a business, contact a steward who can guide you through the process. ➣ Civil Service: Whether you took up a position in the ward initiative, or you’ve managed to situate yourself and you’re starting to set yourself up in the government, there are plenty of jobs within the civil service of Haense waiting for you. From stewardship in helping taxation and selling homes, to an Aulic Ambassador in representing Haense abroad. There are any number of positions to aid within the government, one only needs to message an Aulic Council member who oversees the area they are interested in (List at the top) to find out how to involve yourself. ➣ Other Races: The Kingdom of Haense whilst majoritably a human nation is also one to have a small though growing Elven population that has made their impact on society such as being a part of the legislature and even knighthood. Haense is therefore open to any races that would seek to live within its walls, as well as magic users so long as they are not malign. IV HAENSE CULTURE Haense art by the talented @UnBaed ___________________________ Haense is actually two royal titles - Hanseti and Ruska - which creates two distinct cultures, though there's even more cultures in the community than that, all of which shape how the nation has developed, from its legislation to its language, and offer different opportunities to roleplay your character. All of these cultures have year-life years of history behind them! Bearing in mind, you don't really need to know about any of these, and you can always play a character with no distinct culture, or an immigrant of a foreign culture entirely. But if you do want to make use of a Haense-based culture, they include the following: ➣ Haesenii/Hanseti: As the primary culture of Haense, Haeseni is the amalgamation of a number of cultures from its Raevir roots to influences such as Waldenian. Most people in Haense derive from Haeseni culture, including most of the nobility and the royal family itself. As time has passed, the Haeseni culture has developed into a deeply rich one, and even as its own language called New Marian (or Naumariav, which is the New Marian word for the language itself!) ➣ Raevir/Ruskan: The elder, forerunner culture of the Haeseni which traces its history back to Anthos (one of the server's earliest maps) and pre-server history. Raevir are a mix of eastern Slavic-inspired peoples, which, on the server, includes the Rus, Rutherns and Novgorodians. A number of old noble famileis in Haense - which have survived for real life years - are of Raevir descent, including the Royal House of Barbanov. This is as a result of these families being offsprings of the old, fallen Imperial House of Carrion, who were once patriarchs of the Raevir culture. ➣ Reinmarian: The Reinmarian are descendants of the Waldenian culture, reminiscent of central and northern Germans. The Waldenian culture originates from the city of Siegrad - the birthplace of Haense - within the old, fallen Kingdom of Aesterwald, which had bordered the Duchy of Haense in the old continent of Athera (the server map from six years ago!). Aesterwald was destroyed in a cataclysm, and so many people immigrated to Haense. The Waldenian culture married into the Haeseni culture and the Royal Family itself, and developed an influential military spirit. As time passed, one of the few surviving Waldenian tribes came to the forefront of the old culture through the Reinmarian. If you’re looking for additional information upon the culture of Haense such as what they look like to common customs, you can read all about them by clicking here. V ROLEPLAYING A HAENSE CHARACTER The flag of Haense. ___________________________ From Oren, to Haense, to Norland, there are a lot of human playerbases on the server. In order to dinstinguish themselves, Haense has some distinctive values and ideals. Like cultures, you don't really need these by any means to roleplay in Haense, but if you wanted any direction in making your character or determining their personality, some of these are great for guidance. Northern Honour These are some of the principles a typical Haeseni man or woman might be taught and are grounded in Haense culture. If you make a new character with Haeseni parents, these might be the values they were taught growing up to help shape your character and their backstory: ➣ A Haeseni man will respect legitimate authority, and remain loyal to their King and Country. ➣ A man of Haense will know the strength of their sword. They would not kill churlishly, and will only take up arms for a worthy cause. ➣ When at war, a Haeseni man will be the first on the field, and the last to leave it. ➣ A true Highlander will never abandon a companion though they will honor sacrifice freely given. ➣ If an enemy were to surrender to a Haeseni Man they would respect the honor of their prisoner, treating them properly, never stooping to such lows as torture. ➣ A Haeseni man would never refuse a challenge from an equal. ➣ A Highlander will suffer death before dishonor. ➣ An honorable man of the North would protect those under their roofs as guests. Only harming a guest if they directly attempt to harm them or their kin. ➣ A Haeseni man will defend the honor of the Church of the Canon, be god fearing, and respect all of it’s tenants. ➣ A man of the North shall never break an Oath, lest they be branded an Oathbreaker, and lose all of their honor. ➣ A Haeseni man must not lie, for an honorable man has nothing to hide. ➣ A man of Haense will champion all that is right, and good against injustice, and the evils of the world. ➣ A man of Haense will respect all women ➣ A Haeseni man will never commit infidelity, staying true to the woman to whom he is wed. New Marian New Marian, or Naumariav, is the official language of Haense besides Common, and it's often used in official documents. The language has a long history dating from previous languages such as Raevir botch and Old Marian languages among a number of others dating from pre-server history to the present day. Over time the language has been revived to a point where it can be spoken commonly, though often the player base will use a few common phrases. To get you started, here are a few of the most common words used. Prevja - Hello (Formal) Eja - Hello (Informal) Dravi - Goodbye Da - Yeah Ai - Yes Nie - No Spasiba - Thanks Godan - God Krusae Zwy Kongzem - Protect this kingdom You don’t have to know the language to start role-playing in Haense, of course. If you’re looking to learn more of the language beyond the common phrases, check them out by clicking here. The Sigismundic Calendar The dating system of Haense begins from the time at which Exalted Sigismund, a prophet in human religion, ascended. The dating system itself dates from the ancient Highlander Nomadic times, and has since become the official dating system within Haense, used in court and other documents. Here is how to figure out the current date: ➣ Year 0 of the Second Age (S.A.) = 349 ➣ Current Year Exalted Sigismund (E.S.) (349 + Current Year S.A.) ➣ Example: 3 S.A. = 349 + 3 = 352 E.S. Here are the months of the Haense/Sigismundic Calendar. The server year changes every Wednesday: ➣ Snow’s Maiden - Wzuvar ag Byvca (Wednesday) ➣ Malin’s Welcome - Jula ag Piov (Thursday) ➣ First Seed - Vzmey ag Hynk (Friday) ➣ Grand Harvest - Gronna ag Droba (Saturday) ➣ Sun’s Smile - Tov ag Yermey (Sunday) ➣ Amber Cold - Msitza ag Dargund (Monday) ➣ Deep Cold - Joma ag Umund (Tuesday) Whilst updated in the aforementioned Guide to New Marian, the original document for the Sigmundic Calendar can be found by clicking here. Traditions & Biharism In Haense, there are a number of general traditions which flavour roleplay in the community. This includes a universal reverance for Carrion Black, a strong, hard liquor that effectively holds the status of national drink, while the Prikaburren berry is akin to that as the national food. In terms of attitudes, the psyche within Haense throughout history has been guided by the idea of Biharism; named after Saint Henry Bihar, Biharism advocates for the maintenance of tradition and national fervour. Over time, however, it's taken a backseat as the Kingdom has gradually modernized and centralized. Canonism The kingdom of Haense is a 'Canonist'. The Canon is a religion led by the Pontiff which believes that the creator, or God/Godan, created the universe, and gave four holy scrolls to mankind as principles to live by. These scrolls lead the pious to spiritual salvation or the Seven Skies. These scrolls were provided by four exalted prophets. One of the most important within Haense is Exalted Sigismund, the last Prophet from where Haense gets its dating system, the Sigismundic Calendar, from. If you’re interested to read the Holy Scrolls for yourself, you can find them by clicking here. VI CONCLUSION Lady Haense, the mascot of the Kingdom. ___________________________ So, that covers most of the key points of roleplaying in Haense, from how to get involved to even our own calendar system. Remember that the most important step for getting yourself involved with the community, and finding both an OOC friend group and people to RP with, is by hopping into our Discord, which you can do by clicking here. Integrating into a new community can be difficult, and our goal is to make you feel as welcome and as comfortable as possible. If you're ever a bit lost or confused about what to do you, remember the @City Guides in the Haense Discord are there to help you. Not only them, but you can ping or message any @Admin in the Haense Discord for help or questions about anything at all. This guide is only meant to give you an insight into Haense as a roleplay community; the real step is logging on, coming to Haense, and starting some roleplay. We look forward to seeing you. Oftentimes granted a partition of land in recognition of their service as the most virtuous and honourable men and women loyal to the Sovereign and Crown. Over the course of the Kingdom’s illustrious history that spans over two-hundred years, the Kingdom has seen the rise and fall of a great many nobilital houses ranging from mere barons to dignified dukes. By order of the seventeenth King of Haense, Kastellan Scribe Lord Viktor Kortrevich has penned in both New Marian and Common the current Haeseni peerage from the rankings of Dukes to Barons. Following Lord Viktor Kortrevich's death, then Lord Speaker and Grand Peer Duke Rhys var Ruthern maintained the records on current Haeseni peerage until his own death. After a long period of abeyance, the role of writing and updating of Crown documents fell to Lord Palatine Iosif Bishop Valwyck. For modifications to be made, please send a missive to Bishop Iosif or to the Crown of Haense. --- Updated as of; 472 E.S. 21. JURASZ VE KOENGZ DUMA Punishment Severity Act of 351 E.S Introduced in the Duma. An act to increase the severity of punishments of repeat offenders. INTRODUCTION At current, if one was to continually commit a minor offence (e.g petty theft, burglary, etc.) they would, in turn, only be punished according to the legislature in place regarding minor offences. This bill proposes that should a given individual be repeatedly convicted of a crime, that the severity of the punishment levied be increased to the next level of punishment, E.G A continuous offender of a middling offence would have their next conviction be that of a severe offence. Its records are a collaborative effort between the Office of the High Justiciar and the Haeseni Royal Army, created out of further desire to see Law and Order prevail in the Kingdom. Established in 355 ES, the purpose of the registry is to maintain and regularly update the list of criminals within the Kingdom for the betterment of public safety. Additionally, the registry can be used to track down repeat lawbreakers, so that their sentencing may become more appropriate for the circumstances. While the records are usually kept private to the Office of the High Justiciar and the Haeseni Royal Army, other offices may request access to the documents. This could be to ensure that applicants for a position are not registered criminals, to maintain the integrity of the jobs provided by the Aulic Government. In par with the creation of the registry, the Crown sees fit to add the following section to 205: The High Justiciar of the Haurul Caezk: 205.029: Update and maintain a registry of convicted criminals; IV JOVEO MAAN, His Royal Majesty, Josef I, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Ulgaard, Lahy, Sorbesborg and Slesvik, Duke of Carnatia and Vidaus, Margrave of Korstadt and Rothswald, Count of Chatnik, Nenzing, Graiswald, Karikhov, Baranya, Kvasz, Kavat, Karovia, Kovachgrad, Torun, Turov, Kaunas, Alban, Reza and Markev, Viscount of Grauspin, Baron of Thurant, Rytsburg, Venzia, Esenstadt, Krepost and Kralta, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera.
