Sitting in an undisclosed location with the rest of the newly reformed tribe Dom, Kulgarok would finish discussing his plans with his newfound members, ready to share them with the rest of the war nation of Krugmar. "Ib iz tik" he would remark to the members of Dom, before heading out to the great city of San'Torr. Once there, Kulgaroth would call all Orcs to the palace in demand for a meeting of the Rex. Once the Orcs had finished filing into the room, the shaman would find his way next to the Rex on top of the throne, preparing to make his announcement. Kulgaroth would wait a few moments for the murmuring to quell, as the Orcs had a tendency to fear for when the Rex was in the throne room speaking to all of them, due to recent events.

Once the Orcs had finished talking to one and another, Kulgaroth would boom throughout the throne-room with his bellowing voice,

The formations of clans have done nothing but divide us further and further. We are few and far inbetween and yet would continue to have nothing but create more leaders and more conflict. I recognize the power a leader holds, but if there are only leaders, leading means nothing. Many of our clans hold interim leaders, or stand on the edge of destruction. We must unify; I beckon to Lur, Azog, Raguk, Yar, and Ram to unify beneath the larger clan banners.

As the leading Dom Wargoth, I would like to take Yar, Lur, and Ram within my own clan, keeping their culture and members, without three clans. I do not hope for conflict, though with too many wargoths and not enough Orcs, such is inevitable. Unification will bring us back towards greatness.

With those words, Kulgarok would continue to stand next to the Rex eagerly awaiting any responses from his fellow Orcs gathered today in this room.

  2. Umrah would sit on the side of a lake near the cave homes, rescued by the Laks in return for sacrificing himself for them and tending to his own wounds which have continued to bleed, though not as much. Whilst sitting by the lake, he would recall the losses of the night including Aukha and close his eyes holding the lost in his thoughts.

The reason behind the decay of the orcs can be summed up easily: the PVP buff no longer exists.

Orc RP is horrifically difficult to get into. Who wants to play an ugly idiot who isn't even strong anymore? And speak a language which is borderline incomprehensible? The orcs will never return to power until the PVP buff is reinstated in its full.

    duh

    @Telanir @Teegah

I have been wanting to talk to some devs for a while now about this but I doubt I would get far. Many Orcs have contributed to an old google doc for ideas for buffs, as we are in a major need of a buff and it is widely known.

I think the bottom line with this though, is we need to show the good side of orcs on the wiki, so that newbies aren't afraid of us. We seem less desirable because the wiki and basic lore portray us that way. We need to show our green-smoking hippie side, we need to show our honorable side, and best of all we need to show that orcs do not lack emotion or empathy, in fact they can possess to much, giving them a rather angry or intense disposition that can be gotten past.

Some Orcs are working on improving the Wiki as we speak; stay tuned.

I think orcs are getting better tbh

This is true, but I feel like if we just sit idly by since we are doing better than we have before then we will quickly fall back down to nothing. We must continually push as to not fall back into the depths of no-players.

I didn't think i'd be able to master the language, I don't like the orcs we have on LOTC, I prefer LOTR-esque orcs. Making them Lotr-ish would get me on board within a minute.

There have been posts about this with a lot of positive feedback, but no implementation. I personally enjoy Blah, but I am in a state where I can see how it is more harmful than good and am on board with change.

Extremely valid points. Sadly there is not much we can do to completley eradicate the stigma, though we have done much to reduce it.

I appreciate all the valuable insight everyone. It means a lot.

Asking for help does not harm reputation; we are not Orcs IRL. Whilst it is true we have experienced a boom in players recently I have seen the activity and MANY of the new Orcs have already quit playing. Something is clearly wrong and we need answers.

Thanks for your opinions, very nicely put and insightful. I agree with everything you have listed essentially. This nation is semi-run OOC as are many other races, but there is nothing that can be done to remedy that. OOC feelings will ALWAYS be mixed in with IC feelings, there is no solution to it and never will be; no one human can completley turn off their emotions when making decisions in a seperate persona or online alias. It is also the reason Admins and Mods have a hard time making decisions and doing a good job.

In response to "this does nothing but sate a curious mind", that is true but there is no harm in trying. I will try and try until something changes, as there is no point in simply wallowing in pity and giving up.

  5. I feel like the title explains it all pretty well but let me go a bit more in depth. I am a member of the Orcs and for a long time now our playerbase has been faltering and we have been trying to fix it but have mostly came up with nothing for most if not all of the changes we have made. We have made the RP a bit more "easier" by making Blah less strict, we have humanized a lot of our ways in hopes of reaching more users but as I mentioned before, none have caused a change in our so-called "demise".

So here I am today, asking anyone who wishes to respond. Whether that be people who use to be Orcs, who are currently Orcs, or are a different race altogether; all opinions are welcomed and needed. A few questions I could use answers too are something like the following.

    1. Why did you not make an Orc and what would persuade you to make one?

    2. For people who have stopped playing an Orc, why?

    3. For those who are just an outsider, what are your views on our current situation and what can we do to remedy the fact that we are losing players?

If this clan becomes an actual thing, i'm making an orc.

Sadly, this is a legend post and because of that I am very doubtful they will make a return. These Orcs had only grown the way they did because of the need to adapt to their surroundings to survive, without the exact same circumstances this kind of Orc would cease to exist. You should still make an Orc, though. ;)

Thanks for the feedback! You were a big inspiration to me when writing this (however I was not aware of the post you had linked) and your feedback is greatly appreciated. I was actually expecting the criticism of something along the lines of "elaborate on who Zahn is/was" however was unable to think of anything at the time of writing the post. I agree that it needs to be explained more thoroughly and am going to work on some rough-drafts sometime next week, most likely.

  7. The Clan Zahn

Let me tell you the legend of a clan that had not the easiest of existences, but had remained alive thanks to their stubborness; although stubborness was as much of a boon as it was a blessing and they had fallen to that exact same thing. This is a story about clan Zahn, who they are, what they are, and what they thought their purpose had been. This said clan was a powerful one yet lonesome one, not many had known about this clan due to seclusion and none of heard the story until I have decided to share it with you today.

    Survival and Presumed Extinction

    maxresdefault.jpg

(The barren landscapes the persistent and powerful clan Zahn inhabitated)

The main and outstanding reason none had heard stories or tales of this clan sooner was because of the seclusion as I had told you before; though I will now touch up on that a little bit more. This so-called seclusion was because of how inhabitable the lands Zahn had inhabited were, the landscapes were empty, barren and devoid of life. The sky was always grey and covered in sut, the sun had never shone, and the source of food and plantation was nil. The reasoning behind this was that there was a volcano nearby that erupted quite frequently, destroying any hope of life on land. Sure; it is true that the entire clan could have moved but they had not done that because they believe that it had revealed a weakness on their part, and that any who left were not right to be called an Ork of clan Zahn. A good question to ask would be how the clan survived at all in spite of the erupting volcano and barren lands? The answer is they would seek shelter and live in caves. The caves around the area had become home to all of clan Zahn, only leaving once in a couple of elven years to do some hunting. I had mentioned before that the entire land was barren and had no life, but that is not true as I am remembering; there were these creatures that had taken upon themselves the nick-name "Drü-zhozhi" which would roughly mean something along the lines of "ash-eater".

These creatures were called ash-eaters as that is what they were, they survived off of the ash that had plagued the land from the volcano. These creatures were said to be very reptile-like and frequently if not always crawl on all four "legs", though when fighting they stand up on both of the hind legs and use the other two as a way to fight, clawing at anything that got too close for comfort. The creatures in question were not carnivorous, though they were territorial and defensive. They had a nasty back, with bone-like spikes protruding out of the back of the creature, perhaps originating in the spine. The size of these creatures is hard to gauge as they hunched for improved speed and confortability when fighting, though even when hunched and stood-up on two hind legs they were able to average around 7', with some more larger sizes hitting around 8'; a sizable foe for the Orks. It is rumoured these creatures drank the lava of the volcano; thought that may just be legend. The meat hunters had gotten from these creatures was as pitch black as the ash the creatures had ate, most likely a side-effect of the unhealthy life-style.

    (A rough sketch of a hostile Drü-zhozhi)

The Drü-zhozhi were not the only ones to suffer side-effects of an unhealthy lifestyle, all of clan Zahn had suffered the same fate. Due to the lack of sunlight from not only the volcano always covering the skies in ash but also to the fact that Zahn had never left the caves, for most of the time that would be a quick and swift demise. In return for the lack of sunlight, the Orks had sported a stunted growth; with most if not all (I would assume around 98%) ranging from 6' - 7'. This was not the only con of the lack of sunlight; In a strange turn of events they have developed a transparent skin and all Zahns are black skinned due to the ash in the air constantly; if one were to observe them they would not be able to tell that they are Orks but would rather assume they are some strange abomination. Zahn Orks have around the same life-span as normal Orks, though the elders of clan Zahn that reach around 300-500 years of age lose their eyesight and gain improved other senses and start to slowly delve into madness and insanity, thanks to life in a pitch black cave. This was such a common occurence that these Orks had gained a special tradition in throwing these "creatures" whom they had given the name "Vruig" into the volcano when it lay dormat, as a sacrifice to induce hope that it will one day cease erupting constantly.

    falmer_by_pumpkinpie92-d4hfujr.jpg

    (A Vruig)

Zahn had developed a habit of not wasting resources because they could not afford too. After a succesful hunt of a Drü-zhozhi they would take everything, including the bones. Bones play a huge part in Zahn society and tradition, since a Zahn keeps everything from a kill they are known to use the bones to forge tools, weapons, and armour; as well as decorating themselves. In relation to this and a direct cause from this, the more bones an Ork of clan Zahn has the more powerful they are; as it signifies how many kills the Ork has achieved without falling. The more renowned and strong warriors of Zahn are covered in bones from head-to-toe. A fellow Ork of Zahn can and will challenge another to a klomp to the death in hopes of taking all of the Orks bones, though this does not happen often if rarely at all because of the fact for an Ork to have many bones it demands respect and it is always better for an Ork to earn bones from their own hunts. Not only that; it is simply not favoured because life is too rough to be fighting each-other, they have a tough time surviving as is. Whilst on the topic of tradition and bones, an Ork of clan Zahn is too NOT take the bones from a fellow fallen Ork of the same clan or the creature a fellow Ork has hunted. This will instantly be punished by death on the spot with no warning as it is taboo.

(A strong warrior of clan Zahn that has clearly survived many battles)

I would assume you have a grasp on this culture and the interesting survival aspects clan Zahn had too face now; so I will explain upon the presumed exctinction of said clan. It is quite simple, really. During the destruction of Vailor thanks to Orgon; the clan had still not changed face on their stance of never abandoning their home. For this reason when everyone else fled to the portal for safety, clan Zahn had remained tucked away in their ravished and battle-scarred corner of the world, in the caves.

    Advanced Tradition(s)

Whilst I have explained and given you a basic grasp of some of the easier traditions, there is still more to tell you. Here I will detail these advanced traditions of clan Zhan and the purpose of them.

The Blessing of the QurzetAt birth a Kub is to be taken to the "main" cave that clan Zahn inhabits; inside of there one would find a glowing tree-like plant that is considered to be a blessing. In reality it is just simple fungi that was able to grow inside of a cave due to the excess amounts of water, but to the members of Zahn it is so much more; it is hope for a brighter and healthier future, one where they do not live every day wondering if they will survive to the next. For this exact reason it has become tradition for the entire clan to gather here together for the birth of a new kub, despite the differences or conflicts they may currently have with each-other. Once said kub is born they will be painted with the glowing characteristics of the tree that they have given the alias of "Qurzet".

    1bbd4615af2dd84776020d63e1533412.jpg

    (The Qurzet)

Kubs First Flat - A kubs first kill is a very important thing in any Orcish culture; not just Zahn. However, they handle it a bit differently. Once a kub has been deemed worthy enough to hunt with others (this is done by various tests of strength, some include fighting other kubs and others are as simple as lifting a heavy boulder) they will be brought on their first hunt. If the kub fails to score a kill, they will be forced to fast for a day inside the cave of the Qurzet. If they fail again; they will fast for two days. This will continue getting longer and longer until the kub either dies or achieves their first kill. There is no room for weakness in a clan that can barely survive. Once the kub does earn their first kill, they will not be able to harvest the bones as they are too young and weak to sport such heavy objects. Instead they will take a tooth of the killed Drü-zhozhi and use it too form a blade; which they will carry with them for the rest of their life.

Sacrifice of the Weak - If it is clear a warrior is injured in battle and unable to be healed through prayer; they will be pinned down, bound, and taken to the volcano forcefully and sacrificed in hope that the volcano will cease eruptions. It is often a solemn and depressing event, and there have been many against it but at the same time they all still cling onto the hope that it is a neccessity to do this for the volcano to grant them days of hunt where the volcano does not erupt. When it is clear that the injured has died before reaching the volcano, they will not be sacrificed as a dead sacrifice is thought to anger the volcano; causing it erupt even more than usual.

    Legends
    The Legend of Zrugagga'Zahn -

    Spoiler

An often told tale to kubs, this is the story of a great warrior named Zrugagga'Zahn. Standing at 7'7, it is said that this warrior was mighty enough to demand the volcano itself to cease it's eruptions. The story of this particular Ork started when he was born; it was immediately apparent as he grew as a kub that he would have more mettle and be tougher than the usual Zahn. Clanmates of Zahn were able to tell this when at the age of six, the great warrior was able to fell a Drü-zhozhi bare-handed, with no help from other Orks. His story did not end there of course; as he progressed and got older and older he had never once fell in battle and had gotten many kills, resulting in him being the most adorned in bones Ork to exist.

Another occurence in which his strength was obvious is the following: It was a strangley quiet day on one of his expeditions to hunt with six fellow Orks; they had known this as soon as they left the cave and saw no Drü-zhozhi, an unusual occurence. After travelling the barren wasteland for hours with no sign of Drü-zhozhi and a different soruce of food (Drü-zhozhi was truly all there was too eat) Zrugagga had suggested that they infilitrate a nest; a never done before tactic. The Drü-zhozhi would have to be there, he thought. Upon finding a split in between mountains, they had observed an immensley large nest of about ten Dru-Zhozhi all gotten together; presumably for mating. Hungry and not thinking straight, the Orks decided to charge straight in; this did not end well. After a tough and tedious battle, all that remained was Zrugagga and five Drü-zhozhi, one of which was clearly an alpha larger than the others. The Drü-zhozhi had surronded Zrugagga with no exit in sight, the only way out was to fight his way out... and he did just that. Seeing his fallen brethren at his feet had taken his curse of bloodlust to new levels.

One Drü-zhozhi had charged him head on, Zrugagga had payed close attention to the movements of said creature and ducked under the first swing of its right claw, then plunging his bone sword straight into the nasty beasts stomach; he buried it so deep in fact, it got stuck. With one Drü-zhozhi on the ground squealing to be put down, there were only four that remain. The alpha had stood back, instead choosing to wait for an oppurtune moment to strike whilst the three others charged Zrugagga; now angered that they had lost one their own. With no weapon in sight as the alpha was guarding most of them, Zrugagga had to think of something and fast. He did not think fast enough however, as the first two Drü-zhozhi were already in his face and preparing to swing. As he saw this he threw all of his body-weight into leaping in between the middle of the two; narrowly avoiding being ripped to shreds. As he lands face first into the tough and ashen ground, he sees an axe within arms-reach from a fallen brethren and grabs onto it. By the time he was able to grab the axe the Drü-zhozhi were already turning around and rushing towards him once again; and even worse-so there was the third now coming at him from the where the alpha was standing.

In response to this Zrugagga would bury the axe deep into the single Drü-zhozhis ankle as it became in reach to him, the now injured Drü-zhozhi would be falling onto Zrugagga as he lays on the ground with the other two just inches away from reaching him and clawing him to bits. With the injured Drü-zhozhis body falling into him Zrugagga would use his immense strength and propel the giant creature with both his legs and arms towards the other two; making them all stumbling and confused. Using this oppurtunity to stand up Zrugagga once again has no weapon, a situation all to familar to be comfortable with. While the other three Drü-zhozhi are all tangled together (one with an axe buried deep into its tough scaled ankle) Zrugagga is painfully reminded of the injured Drü-zhozhi on the ground by the sound of ear-piercing shrieks coming from the shadow-creature and is promptly taken out of the heat of the battle. He walks over to the creature and pulls the sword from it's one spot on the body that is not covered in hard scales, and stomps the creature out of it's misery with his bone-clad boot. By the time he was done all this, the Drü-zhozhi were once again sprinting towards him at full speed, this time however two were routing him this time as the first attacked head-on (The injured one, though it does not seem to be bothering the creature much anymore due to its tough scales); a better plan than before.

Zrugagga would realize the terrible situation he has found himself in, with the alpha still blocking the only exit out of this demising nest. Zrugagga would not give up without a fight though; seeing the two routing him from the sides Zrugagga would choose to rather charge forward towards the singular Drü-zhozhi with his blade poised for an attack. Sadly the Drü-zhozhi can attack faster than he can swing a sword. This results in Zrugagga narrowly avoiding a left claw strike from the aformentioned Drü-zhozhi; barely ducking under it. This timing was impeccable however, meaning Zrugagga would be able to slash his bone sword out towards the Drü-zhozhi, cutting it's now-revealed lower abdomen open all the while dodging the strike and moving forwards. The Drü-zhozhis guts spill out onto the ground below, and the creature falls limp face-first into said ground; the other two Drü-zhozhi are not happy too see this and turn on a dime with their surprinsgly nimble frames, avoiding running into each-other.

Zrugagga has had enough of dodging and narrow avoidances, his stamina has run it's course thanks to his heavy bone army. Instead he stands still; feet planted in the ground and legs pivoted to stabilize himself, sword poised towards the remaining two Drü-zhozhi standing still and observing. The two remaining Drü-zhozhi rush head-on, obviously not learning from the past two instances that this is not a good idea for themselves. Zrugagga would not move; he would remain as still as a rock, out of stamina and willing to fight to the death. Before you could expect it the Drü-zhozhi were already there, face-to-face with an Ork exhausted after waning down on the large group of other Drü-zhozhi. The Drü-zhozhi on the left would dash to the left of Zrugagga whilst striking towards Zrugagga. Zrugagga would quickly let his left hand off of his sword and one-hand it in his right hand, using his left one to meet the Drü-zhozhis right, aiming to deflect or at least stall enough to get an opening to the abdomen.

Thanks to Zrugaggas sheer strength he was able to equally meet the Drü-zhozhi and hold that positioning for about one second, any more and he would have been overpowered. Using this miniscule amount of time to his advantage, Zrugagga buried his sword deep into the creatures abdomen, sadly; Zrugagga had not been able to do anything about the other Drü-zhozhi now attacking him as he was all tangled up with the current fight at hand. Zrugagga suffered a nasty claw attack with some impressive toque to it, thankfully his armour had protected him from any real injuries but the torque of the attack caused Zrugagga too be knocked back onto the ground with his back against the mountain facing the Drü-zhozhi, with his weapon buried in the now-dead other. The single remaining Drü-zhozhi (Not including the alpha) that had just swung at Zrugagga would lunge forward with his wide jaw agape; trying to pierce Zrugaggas armour with his uncanny sharp teeth. In response, Zrugagga would use speed never before seen on an Ork and grab the creatures lower and upper mouth as it is lunging to take a piece of Zrugagga.

The two would stare at each-other for a few seconds, these two creatures that have both survived against odds stacked against them; breathing in each-others panting and both equally disgusting breath. Maybe these two are more alike then they would assume; but it does not matter. Zrugagga would push down on the lower jaw and push upwards on the upper one, hearing all sorts of snapping and cracking, the creature would screech, remaining alive for a while as it would take a lot of force to kill it like this, before falling limp onto the ground with his mouth elastic and loose; presumably dead. When Zrugagga stood, he would take his personal sword out of the dead Drü-zhozhi once again; using his boot to push down and give himself a boost to unlodge the sword. He would stumble backwards, the ground littered with fallen bodies of both races; clearly tired and exhausted from the recent fight.

This was not over yet, though. The 8'2 alpha still remained stood there, as he just watched his brethren get slaughterd in front of him. The alpha would begin to slowly walk towards Zrugagga... then around; circling the now legendary Ork, prepared to finish the job. Zrugagga remained poised as he had done many times this day, ready to attack at any given moment. This time around Zrugagga decided to just say "Skah it." and charged towards the alpha, once again expecting death. The alpha Drü-zhozhi seemed to expect this, and as Zrugagga charged the creature would swing downwards with all of it's might with it's right arm aiming to crush the Ork. Ztrugagga would roll out of the way to the right of the creature, now aiming and succesfully landing a swift strike to the back of its legs. The Drü-zhozhi alpha did not appreciate this much; swinging his free left arm at Ztrugagga, turning his whole body into the swing and hitting him quite effectvely, swatting him into the walls of the mountains that surround the two combatants.

Whilst Zrugagga flew through the air he dropped his sword somewhere along the way; and once he had hit the wall you could hear multiple bones shattering and cracking, hopefully those of his armour. Ztrugagga had landed dazed and confused but able to still fight; finding a spear from another fallen brother he picks it up and uses it to keep distance with the alpha while he recuperates, the alpha simply allows him to do so for what seemed like the longest five seconds, just standing there watching the Ork catch his breath and attempt to snap back into it; as his life had depended on it. The larger than average alpha would grow tired of waiting however, and sprint towards the Ork. Zrugagga holds his ground, but is ready to dodge at any moment simultanesouly. When the alpha finally arrives to the destination right in front of Zrugagga; he attempts to grab Zrugagga with both of his arms lunging out. Zrugagga sees a genius plan in the heat of the moment and ducks down whilst positioning his spear horizontaly as to pierce the strangely large creatures arms and get them as stuck as possible.

The plan works to the favour of Zrugagga and the creatures hands are pinned together for a few seconds but that is all Zrugagga needed to sprint forwards and shove his entire body weight into the creature, causing it to stumble backwards and giving the opening of being able to pick up another weapon and attack. Zrugagga finds a nice pace for a sprint and moves past the alpha aiming to pick up the previously used axe still buried in one of the deceased Drü-zhozhis ankles. Thankfully; he does just this. By the time Zrugagga has reached the axe and pulled it out, the alpha is facing him hands and arms still bound by the spear. Using this opportunity as an opening to attack the creatures abdomen, he would sprint as fast as humanly possible in his large set of of bone armour towards the creature all the while preparing a large swing; as if chopping down a tree. Completley unexpectedly, as Zrugagga arrives within reach and mid-swing of attacking the alpha, it turns extremely fast and swings its tail; once again crushing the Ork against the mountainous walls. Since Ztrugagga was dizzy and perhaps unconcious for a decent amount of time, the alpha was able to free his hands by forcing the spear pierce all the way through by smashing the tip of the spear onto a rock, pushing it outwards. (He could not simply knaw it away, as it was solid bone and there was no wood.)

The alpha Drü-zhozhi would slowly approach Zrugagga mouth wide open, baring it's nasty teeth; knowing this is the end of the powerful Ork. Zrugagga is not one to give up, but even he thought he had met his match here. It was at this moment Zrugagga had been picked up, being brought close to the alphas mouth. The alpha would look the Ork that had caused his nest so much trouble up and down; as if inspecting what was so special about him to be able to take down this many of his kind. Then; that was it, or at least the Drü-zhozhi thought that was it... The alpha brings Zrugagga to his mouth to chomp down, hoping for a tasty snack of a powerful warrior; but what he got instead was not expected in the slightest. Zrugagga had forced his entire arm down the beasts throat as he was bitten down upon, gripping onto anything his long arm was able to reach, and proceeding to brutally as well as forcefully rip it out of the Drü-zhozhi. Being released from the beasts grasp, Zrugagga would fall to his knees; arm bleeding, and who knows how many more injuries before quickly standing up once again, to deal the final blow with an axe to the creatures abdomen; then collapsing once again. The alpha Drü-zhozhi would stumble about schreeching the most horrible noise known to Ork-kind, before giving the now legendary Ork one last look of pure hatred, and fall to the ground.

Zrugagga had passed out, but once he had awoken he made sure to take all the bones of every single Drü-zhozhi that had been killied by himself that day. It is said the bones he harvested from the alpha that day were used to forge his legendary sword and after this fateful day his eyes had glown red with the blessing of the volcano. That is not all, however. Zrugagga had noticed an egg in the middle of the nest, seemingly and surprinsgly untouched. It's appearance was that of the same colour as the barren ground below his feet, and it had seemed to be constantly moving around as if it were made of smoke no matter how you look at it. Zrugagga had decided to take said egg as a trophy, with no intention of raising such beast. Though as time grew on and the beast hatched; it had grown attached to Zrugagga and he grew attached to the beast as well. From this day forward him and his new-found pet would be the stuff of legends.

(Zrugagga; equipped with his legendary armour and sword)

The Cave Dweller - The name of this legend is quite ironic; considering all of clan Zahn are also cave dwellers; but this was not a good cave dweller in their eyes. Parent Orks would tell this story to the kubs to assure they do not go exploring in caves that are not already inhabitated by clan Zahn. They would tell the story of a massive beast, capable of felling even the greatest Zahn warrior himsself, Zrugagga. Not much is known about this strange creature or how it arrived, or whom it arrived from. Though it is said to be of massive proportions, bigger than some small caves themselves; and none have lived to tell the tale of an encounter with such a beast. It is said that if one were to venture too deep into a cave in which was not already inhabitated; you would see the eyes of this beast peering back at you in the pitch-black cave, ready to šnatch you away.

    WPz9B9O.jpg

(An ancient depiction of the cave dweller)

The Qurzet Healing Properties - It was rumoured in the ancient clan of Zahn that not only was this tree-like structure used for prayer and worship; but that it had contained healing properties. If one were too take from the bark of the tree and apply it to any wounds, they would heal over and restore the warrior to their former condition in mere seconds. No-one could tell if this was the truth or not however, as if you had injured this religion symbol you would have done the greatest atrocity known to Zahn; and would be killed on the spot after being forced to "purge" yourself of said atrocity. The tree has been such a legend that it has even spread to far-away lands under different names, somehow.

    tree-lights.jpg

    (The Qurzet)

Mutation into a Drü-zhozhi - Another story told to kubs of the clan Zahn is what would happen if they did not sacrifice the mad to the volcano;  the mad would eventually go through insufferable pain upon living for a certain amount of time and slowly transform into a Drü-zhozhi.

    Hierachy

Zahn is unique in the fact that it does not hold a hierachy. It is clear by the amount of bones that ornament an Ork which is the strongest; and they would rather simply all focus one the one goal of survival together than seperate each-other with ranks and statuses.

    Relics Associated:

    "Ruined Sword of Zrugagga"
    - Iron sword with fire aspect.
A sword fashioned out of many bones said to be from an alpha Drü-zhozhi, once wielded by the warrior of legend; Zrugagga. This weapon has withered with time and the destruction of the old world.

    "Skeletal Remains of Drü-Zhozhi"
    - (bones) cosmetic.
These seem to be the remains of a strange creature of tale, unknown by many.

    "Dormat Drü-Zhozhi Egg"
    - (black or grey spawn egg) cosmetic.
A solidified to stone dru-zhozhi egg, presumably from the destruction of the old world. What was once housed inside this was a fierce and frightening creature.

    "Bark of the Gurzten"
    - (light blue dye) is a one-time use consumable that upon use will instantly heal all of a users hearts; or a cosmetic.
What seems to be bark from a strange "tree", though it is very jelly like.

    "Destroyed Bone Armour"
    - (unwearable armour?) cosmetic.
A set of armour destroyed beyond repair, strangely fashioned out of bone.

    "Drü-Zhozhi Scale"
    - (prismarine shards) cosmetic.
A scale of a large reptillian beast.

Though; I do not believe you can bring items back from Shamanism planes, so there would be no way to obtain these. I would appreciate if they were made, however.

What is the current situation of the orcs? I've been thinking of creating an orc character after I finish taking a break from lotc.

We are making preparation to move into an actual city soon; should be exciting. Politically, we are fighting Oren alongside the dwarves I believe.

  9. This post is an amazing idea.

Whilst not on this list as well as not nearly as knowledgeable as many of the persons listed; I would like to let any new players reading this know I am willing to help with any questions or concerns as well.

This post is more-so about the revival of the Orc race and trying to re-establish it; please do not attempt to make it about Oren vs. Orcs. No need to create unnecessary drama.

  11. I myself am a new Orc and have only been here around a week; perhaps my insights could hold some value.

I feel like the scariest thing for myself was the lack of collected information in an easily accesible place. I had to dig deep in forums and the wiki to find out how Orcs act and think; this should be a lot easier. I have been thinking about making a "master-post" of some Smaw writings as well as other helpful links and wiki posts, but have not found the time. A notable thing that did stick out to me however was the fact that Orcs are very about culture as opposed to PVP; so kudos to all that have put in immense work to make this so. Which brings me to my next point, I disagree with every one above who says the Rex should be a more permanent position. For longevity and retention perhaps it should; but it is in the Orc culture that a Rex should not live long or be around long. It is how we are.

I have been trying to do my part to increase interest in Orcs and have been meaning to message Smaw about it; asking if he ever needs any help writing lore. Since you are offering now I would like to take you up on the offer, simply PM me with whatever needs to be done and if it is in my power I will do it. Currently I am writing a piece of lore for a clan that has been long forgotten or simply left behind; it's still being written because I am trying to make it as canon as possible while still remaining unique. Another contribution I have made to the Orc community is the Discord. I have set that up myself (with some help from Pok to get the word out) and it is doing pretty well in terms of membership currently. I feel like the Orcish community is the strongest and most lore intensive race out there we just don't have the playerbase to make it known.

I feel like a lot of Orcs do however fail to realize the fact this is how we are suppose to be treated. I'd assume it would be the same if Orcs truly did exist; everyone would be racist to them. I don't think there will ever be changing this fact, because that is simply what it is and how it is. Just racism.

I am sorry this is so badly written, I'm in a little bit of a block currently where I can't figure out ways to voice what's going on in my head. I'll try to clean up this post when I get over it.

Edit: I would also appreciate it if you yourself could join the Discord, it would be easier to communicate my ideas to you.

I already have one and there already is an orc TS . . . why?

I was not aware there was already an Orc discord, the person I previously had spoken too had said that he did eventually want to make one but I had some free time so thought I would go ahead and do it.

Simply put, I don't use teamspeak and it has been noted that many new players also do not. This is an option for those players and more. Instead of having Teamspeak and Skype their could just be a discord. Or really, if you wanted their could be all three. Too me Teamspeak and especially Skype are pretty outdated programs and many new players are simply using Discord instead.

  13. Orcish Discord

Hello fellow brethren! It is with great pleasure I announce the start of an Orcish Discord. I have spent the last three or so hours setting one up so we all have a common program to speak on. While it is true the entire community is centered around Skype and Teamspeak, I wish to change that as not everyone (myself included) is comfortable with using those programs. Discord is a powerful program and the future of communication in many ways, and I urge you to join me in using it. It will take some time but I do hope to eventually fully integrate our community onto just this singular platform, as it has both the features of Skype and Teamspeak; as well as more.

You may not be comfortable with me overseeing this Discord myself as I am a new player, and I don't blame you. How can you trust someone who has not done anything trustworthy yet as they have only gotten here a few days ago. This is why, when I feel like many notable members of the Orcish community have joined I will hold a strawpoll for all to vote on; as to who the first moderator will be. This way I do not have ALL the power and you can all be more comfortable with the person in the leading position, as it is someone you all know and have agreed upon. Do note however, I will still be keeping my position as Founder (let's not use the word Admin) to make sure things are working in the background; like the cool bot I set up.

It is extremely simple to join, simply click on this sentence to join. Upon joining the server you will be placed in the channel #welcome and required to fill out an application. It is a simple application with barely one sentence of writing, it's main purpose is so I can give you the proper roles. Once that is done, you are free to hang out and talk with your peers via text or voice, and use many different bot commands. Give it a shot and feel free to voice all of your concerns!

I hope to see you all there! - Xerihsob

  14. I don't expect to win as I'm doing exactly what you said not to do but oh well; a good chance to dump all my screenies.

All photos taken in a lossless format and 4k resolution using a SEUS v11.0 Custom Preset then compressed down surprisingly well by photoshop. I would have attached a transparent LotC logo to the photo as many others have but since these are 4k it looks quite small and stupid. I believe since none of these photos exceed 5mb Imgur does not do it's own stupid compression so these photos should look as they did when I compressed them on my PC. Enjoy.

Edit: The files have been edited with the logo over top. Apologies if it is rough, I was using a new technique I was not familiar with to save time. Usually it takes around 3-5 hours for me to get something like that done, this only took about an hour or two. The new transparent 1920x1080 logo is also attached for anyone else who wishes to use it.

  15. Is this bait? Sorry if it isn't, it's hard to tell honestly.

I'll take the bait though and respond seriously, whilst I haven't even formally played on the server yet I can tell you that the internet or this server will never be a "safe space" and aiming to make it such is a little bit ridiculous. Take what you can get and deal with it. I do agree with your second part of the post however, about doing nice things for each other. Those small things are really all we can do.

The internet will always be edgy and this one forum post won't change anything, perhaps you made it just to make yourself feel better though.

    Biography:

    Spoiler

This story starts with a woman Uruk, a strong and resilient one named Shug (sh-oog). Standing 7'7 in height she was considered massive and strong by many. She was however, a target for belittlement. See, Shug was born with a birth defect that has been carried through her ancestral tree for generations. This birth defect causes the colouration in a Orc to be blank; like an empty canvas. A pure white. Not white like some gross Human skin, think white like the snow. Or the kind of white you can only find when looking at a star. This birth defect also causes the eyes to go a pure red, which is usually a rare blessing upon certain Orcs but Shug did not view it as a blessing, more-so a curse. She viewed it as a curse as that is how it is viewed by other Orcs at times. Not all of them mind you, but a decent enough amount too deter her from wanting a Kub. This of course, did not matter though. In Orcish society while they are an extremely spiritual culture they also still value honour, and strength, and that is what Shug had. Any time someone would doubt her prowess in battle or say she was a curse and blight upon Orcish society, she would stand up to them in a klomp. Sometimes she lost, sometimes she won; but what matters is the fact she didn't accept defeat and stood up to those who aimed to disparage her name. Eventually the Orcs around her began to realize she was not a weakling and her odd colour didn't detract from her strength. After all, all the other Orcs aren't exactly the prettiest too look at covered in scars and the like. When they realized this, she was able to find a mate. A strong red-skin Orc, tested by time and a great warrior, though smaller than she.

After the successful mate and her learning of her blessing of a Kub, she visited a wise farseer shaman as they are often sought after in times of tribulation. The shaman she went too see could not do much, but he visited the planes and asked the spirits for which spirits to look too for guidance in this mothers case. After the shaman returned to his body and had given a list to the mother she prayed and prayed to many spirits and offered many tributes to the spirits that could help her. She offered many tributes of a plethora of healthy creatures and prayed to Akezo, spirit of health, vitality, and healing. She prayed to Ublulhar, the spirit of hope and new beginnings. Unable to think of something that would appease this spirit she simply did not offer anything at all. She offered a tribute of a warm fire every night, like a beating heart and prayed to Isuz, spirit of love, caring, and tranquility. She stopped drinking and smoking cactus green to appease Scorthuz, spirit of cleansing, purity and purging. She had thought to had gone mad by some Orcs, others thought of her as valiant; attempting to appease all these spirits. Now you're probably wondering, what was she praying for? She wasn't just praying for the healthiness of her Kub, but she was also praying for her Kub to come out a normal colour and put an end to her centuries long ancestral "curse". Months later, the spirits had decided today was the day Shug was going to birth the Kub.

Born in 1560 to the Warchief clan Zahn, Umrah was born. His skin was a nice shade of red, as if he had been tested in the harsh desert sands. Though, not completely... He had retained some of his mothers genes/curse, but not all. This resulted in him having the signature red eyes and small white spots going all along his back. He also had a medium sized blotch of white on his abdomen, and left pectoral area. His mother saw this and still breathed a sigh of relief, this was good enough for her. All the madness and constant offerings and praying over the months had paid off. He was going to be normal. Or, mostly. Fast forward a couple of years, Umrah started seeing a shining golden cat in his dreams. It was shining in the way that it seemed as if the sun was always shining upon it. He always asked the creature its name and what it wants but it always leaves, as if scared off. The way this golden cat moved was strange, leaving specters of it's previous movements behind it; producing an effect that made it look like it moved slowly but in reality it was still moving at a fast pace. On a cool night during The Amber Cold, Umrah had fallen asleep. Having a dream of the same golden cat however, this time when he asked it it's name it responded. "I am a spirit. My name is Ibixys and I represent all that you mortals would consider luck, and fortune. I am the very reason for many existences. This is the last time you will see of me. Be well, mortal." then, it vanished and Umrah had woken up. The following day was that fateful day on 1571, where everyone fled to Axios through the portal.

The Orcs from the clan Zahn decided to remain living in Vailor with the taint as they saw it as Krugs blessing (perhaps they had simply just gone mad), and an insult to him as well as weakness to abandon their home. However, Shug did not want this life for her Kub (eleven years of age when these events happened), and snuck him into the portal with all the other Orcs when they decided to flee the destroyed lands they once called home. Arriving on the Island of Krug in the cloud temple Umrah was feeling devastated and betrayed his mother would throw him away like meaningless trash as she did. For this reason he never felt the need to trust another clan or family in his lifetime; because of this he then grew up in the wilderness of Axios alone, hunting and struggling to survive basic day to day life without a clan to guide and help him. He wasn't really an Orc at all. He was really only able to survive alone at such a young age because of how fast Orcs mature and how they are taught the ways of fighting and killing at a young age. His ability to survive and his strength however did not stop him from the normal mental feelings sentient beings are known to posses. Perhaps a normal resilient and strong Orc wouldn't have been as depressed as Umrah got for his mother abandoning him, but he had a special attachment and bond to his mother; a momma's boy, if you will. Ironically this attachment stemmed from the fact him and his mother partly shared the same "curse".

That takes us to where we are now. After years of traveling in Axios and struggling to survive, Umrah has decided he wants to put his day-to-day traveling on the backburner and settle in with a new clan, now that he has a direction to go in for his life maybe it will help him mentally, and psychically. Writing Notes/Extras:

    Spoiler

I apologize for my bad writing, it's been years so I've had the chance to indulge myself in this hobby. I wanted to work the Ilzpaak into this somehow but had already written everything; this is why Umrah's birth month and date was not mentioned. I want to touch up more on the clan Zahn, their followings and practices, and location. Elaborate more on why Zahn decided to stay; were they broken enough by Orgon that even though he had betrayed Orcs they still chose to worship him? I want to axe the Ibixys part from this story altogether eventually, it's pretty cliche seeing a spirit in the dreams (there's already a spirit of fortune anyways).

Personality Traits: Is afraid of water. Can swim, but cannot float. Hates undead, like every other Orc. Traveling is something he has grown to love. Is interested in the literature of other races, and the stories told by them; however is also equally interested in battle. Has mommy issues.
Ambitions: Umrah does not know, he does not dwell on the future too much. For now, he just wants to travel and eventually find a clan where he can truly feel welcomed.
Strengths/Talents: Upon being raised, his mother placed an importance on intelligence and bettering ones mind (while she was around). These few years of intense mind training has left him with a better understanding of language(s), culture, and proper story-telling (Think smarter than an average Uruk in those fields, but not as intensely smart as a Goblin).
Weaknesses/Inabilities: He is deathly afraid of water. It's scary, who knows what the hell lurks beneath. Since he has been conditioned to "go it alone" most of his childhood life he is not as about family and clans as an Orc should be, which is extremely unhealthy and bad. He is working on changing this however, and really wants to find a clan willing to take him in as one of their own.
Appearance: Umrah is 7'5, red skin with white spots running all along his back, a few medium sized blotches of white skin on his abdomen and left pec area, bald and well built.
Skin: I want to wait for this too be accepted before going through the trouble of finding a skin. Basically I don't have one.
