  1. Metzli was (is?) known as the Awakener to the Hou-Zi. When they were uplifted, he transformed their souls, unlocked their minds and generally spiced them up a bit, however at that stage, Metzli's obsession with creating a perfect race was accompanied by a certain distance. He didn't really mess with their history or require worship, he simply wished to observe their successes and failures in a closed system. Part of raising Hou-Shen to sentience could have most definitely been imbuing them with a predisposition to detect 'Chi,' and use it to their own effect. Metzli most likely grew to dislike the lack of control in his experiments, however, which offers an explanation for why his next fully fledged creation, the Kah', had advantages dependent upon him. This way he could take it away if it proved ineffective or if he wished to terminate or cut off his gifts to his children. Anyway, that's how I see it.
  2. Solid lore mate, gonna go through it now. The idea of a location based power source is crazy interesting, so well done there. You made it pretty obvious straight up where the magic's source comes from which'll make the LM's love you, and it's a pretty solid idea, but be careful with the definition here. IK the definition of lifeforce is and probably always will be wishy-washy but it's defined as something along the lines of a byproduct of mana interacting with souls. That being said that's all semantics and the LM's will probably get over it. Another thing to take into account are voidal nodes and hollows. These are massive concentrations of mana, however they don't quite fit the definition of a Chi Pool, since this mana hasn't been really been 'used,' though it has corrupted the area around it. Check out the lore and if you feel like it slip in a small paragraph about the interaction between chi and voidal hollows if you'd like. I don't think it'll be a problem, but depth in lore is always something the server looks forward to. I actually really enjoy this implementation of the magic, so gg. Although practical similarities in relation to Lutaumunism are kinda evident, i'm more of a fan of this than that particular form of Shamanism, and it looks to be a lot more fleshed out and realistic. Lutaumuns use the spirits to bolster themselves, however I think it differs subtly which is something the LT should definitely take into account. Lutaumuns improve themselves, whereas Chi Manipulators only improve their actions and interactions through the use of Chi. Subtle, but yeah, I think it's a solid enough response to anyone questioning whether this magic will clash. I like it, but tbh I'd be rather careful implementing something like this. Necromantic draining, which although technically different has the same effects as Chi Draining in practise, has been suspect to a shitload of criticism, however I think if it requires a direct strike (punch, slap, etc.) it won't be followed by the same type of hate. It was mostly due to the ranged drain ability of necromancers anyway. This kind of ability needs more elaboration. Don't get me wrong it's reasonable, but way more information on the physical properties of manifested chi will be needed for it to be used in combat. How will it interact with a person? Is it simply like a strong wind, or does it have form? If the manifested Chi degenerated into Chi Streams can it be re-used, or is this Chi imparted into the target, regenerating their own chi stores? Simply said it needs more. Don't discount it at all, though, it's still a nice addition- just keep in mind the LT will respect this lore a hell of a lot more if it doesn't leave things like these to interpretation. Alright, I'm being nitpicky as **** here so hit me with a grain of salt. Insanity rp is damn hard to rp well, as is anger. It's pretty restricting, as you could ask any Orc/Uruk roleplayer- Defining your character like this makes connections difficult and will end up influencing a lot of things in ways which you'd rather they not be. That being said it's an interesting dynamic and I wouldn't count it out. What I would include would be to say that these emotional effects are only experienced after casting or manipulating Chi in this way, and that they're temporary. I think it could at least impart some possibility of restraint in the caster themselves instead of making them constantly impacted by their magic. Anyway, up to you. Hope this helped man, best of luck with it!
